I see some positive review here so I hope mine was an outlier. 1. Did not give me a quote, just told me he would "take care of it." Make sure to ask in writing. 2. Not a very comfortable conversation for a woman in her 30s. Maybe if your male you will fare better? 3. Literally sewed the laces into one of the repairs and didn't notice. When I took it back he didn't actually believe me and spend a good deal of time tugging on the lace expecting it to just come out. He did fix it for no charge but this indicates to me that he isn't very careful as he is working and doesn't check the work when he is done. 4. "Re-heeled" two of my pairs of boots. I specifically took them in because this is one of the only hiking shoes that Lowa doesn't replace the sole on. He said it could easily be done. hooray! After just two weeks the heel began to separate. I'm hoping it doesn't go any further. I bought some shoe goo to repair myself as I'd rather not go back again. 5. Repairs don't look good. If you have a nice pair of shoes I would suggest going elsewhere. Thankfully the boots I took in don't need to look good but in doing the re-heeling he scuffed up all sorts of things and the lines are super wonky. 5. What a great and wonderful little shop! I came in today for the very first time. I've been meaning to go in for a couple of months, but they're only open Monday through Friday. I was greeted and got to chat with the workers. They were very nice, the customer service was great. I came in to get taps at the bottom of my boots so that they last longer. It only costs $5 for the pair and I was out in about 5 minutes. I would highly recommend getting your good pair of boots tapped so that they last longer and your heel won't wear out giving them that uneven look. Can't wait to go back with some new boots. They also fix zippers and purses. I would highly recommend them. read more

My interaction was short but the gentleman working there was courteous, knowledgeable, prompt and provided ample advise. I went to Rod's shoes and purchased a pair of shoes that needed minor modifications to fit my feet. When I made the purchase I asked how long they'd be out before their return and was told "2 maybe 3 days." Having made the purchase Sunday I figured that Wednesday was not unreasonable. I finally checked in on Friday expecting to have the shoes ready and waiting, and was informed that they had not yet come in so they called Ralph's and inquired about the status of the order. Ralph's stated that they hadn't gotten to them yet but would be finished and delivered by the end of the day (5pm). I retuned today to pick up my shoes and Ralph's STILL has yet to deliver and since they are closed weekends I have no way to collect my merchandise. OMG these people quoted $12-25 to replace a zipper, took 2 months to complete the repair, then they "lost" the item for weeks, made a bunch of lame excuses for being lame, disorganized and generally incompetent, and now they want $60 for the job! They can keep the boot, I will never return, and I hope you won't either! Stay away is my advice! read more

Sorry, can't give any more than one star. The shop didn't live up to the Yelp reviews. I trusted the Yelp reviews and got a botched job. There was a total lack of listening to what I requested. I was overcharged for shoddy workmanship. I will never take anything there again. Be sure you are perfectly clear and they are perfectly clear about what your repair requires. I brought a pair of heels in on a Tuesday, one needed part of the soul glued back down. They were only worn about 5 times. I asked if I could have them by Thursday as I had a party to go to, and I wanted to wear them. He said they would be ready Wed or Thursday whenever I come in to get them. When I took them in, he asked me to tell him a joke. I said I didn't know any, then he said sure you do come on, tell me one, then he said well let me tell you one as my son likes jokes, so he did. I wasn't amused or liked the context of the joke. Anyway I had a friend go in Wed. afternoon to pick up the shoes. They were not ready. I called on Thurs. and said I was going to Ukiah, can I pick them up. He said they would be ready later in the afternoon. I said to to late. I have a party. Travel time is 35 minutes each way. So my husband picked them up on Friday for me. I looked at them when he handed them to me, and the glue was sticky, not dry, I tested them and it pulled apart again. I put them next to the fire to dry and 2 days later still sticky and not dry, plus he had glue on the side of my heel that was smeared. Very disappointed. The guy was more interested in chatting and telling a joke then listening to what I needed done. :( read more
