We turned this dog over to the newington police after feeding, walking, and having her checked for a chip. These found dogs in turn get turned over to Connecticut k-9 education center for temporary housing and care. A woman who claimed to be the owner of Connecticut K-9 center engaged in conversation, she made slanderous accusations stating the dog was dumped by me and my friend, when in fact both of us saved the dog and handed her over to the newington police the evening of March 15th 2025 documented by footage from their lobby camera feed. She was antagonistic and defamatory, contrary to provable facts, this is abnormal and concerning. Worst of all, this type of behavior raises great concern for the safety of the dog we found that ended up in her care. We wouldn't let her take care of a pet rock.

When I brought my 4.5 month old puppy for training class I was told she was too young to do puppy…read moreobedience training and instead it was enrolled in a playtime training. The class consisted of dogs taking turns doing obstacles, then out for a pee break, then off-leash time. The final 10 minutes or so we worked on basic commands. The instructor- Vince, was quiet, gentle and generally uninvolved. He did offer tips for problem behaviors on a one on one basis which was helpful but the class felt more like puppy playtime. I was disappointed that the training part of this was almost non existent. I was told this was to boost their confidence. And socialization. I enrolled in the next class once my puppy aged up- puppy kindergarten. I was excited to try a new instructor, Lynne. Her dog was impeccable trained. I liked her philosophy and mindset during the first class with no dogs. But on the first day with dogs (second class) she offered prong collars to 3 of the 5 dogs in class. I'm not sure if they humans wanted them or felt pressured to out them on. She did not approach me about a prong collar but watching the dogs react to the collar was heartbreaking. During this puppy kindergarten class we were given more commands to work on. The class was different, the dogs were expected to sit on the side of us, different from what Vince taught in previous class. The first class we were doing lots of walking in circles and sitting. A few times my puppy sat and then got up, Lynne asked me what I was going to do about it. I tried to get the dog into a sit again, without saying the word sit more than one time but the more I tried to get her to sit the more she fought against it. So I decided I would practice at home that week. But Lynne singled me out, explained why I should command her to a sit and waited for me to get the puppy in a sit. She wouldn't sit. It was the first day of puppy school. Second class we learned a new skill- down. We were instructed to put the dogs into down, and expect them to stay in the down position until we released them while she spent several minutes helping someone whose dog wouldn't lay. Meanwhile my dog got up- I knew she was restless- she is a puppy after all and this is a new skill. I was thrilled my dog stayed in down for maybe 60 seconds. But when Lynne was finished helping the other dog she looked at me and asked why my dog wasn't in down position. I mean- I these are puppies and a new skill. I felt pretty good about this 60 second down I had. But Lynne was not happy the dog got up. Again- brand new skill that I would work on. But after that class I realized this wasn't for me. My experience seemed like Lynne forgot what it's like to have a puppy. Maybe she is just out of touch with what puppies are expected to do but we dropped out of this class. I felt the expectations were inappropriate for a puppy. Or maybe I'm just a bad dog owner, which is how Lynne made me feel with her comments throughout the two classes I took with her. Either way- I don't recommend this place for dog training.

She has picked up our dog, Rey, from Planet Bark, in the evening and dropped off at our home. She is just such a calming presence and my dogs just love her! For holidays, we have come home to find an adorable "themed" kerchief on them, which just brightens our day. She even left a bag of treats for Jake, recently, as he just turned 12. Emily also watched Jake when we went on a cruise, and he did not come home stressed or ill, like if he stays in a kennel. She sent daily videos and/or pictures of him and we felt so comfortable leaving our little man. I am that nervous dog Mom but Emily always makes me feel so much peace of mind. Most importantly, she is dependable, on time, and will always give us a heads up if she has something coming up, so that we can be prepared ahead of time. I can't say enough!!!

Laura is one of the kindest people out there in dog training because she is the real deal. Laura never tried to push sessions on me but was the opposite. If I needed her for more sessions, basically it was up to me to call. The real work is with the dog owner so it appeared to me that she did not want to waste your money. When she found out my last dog died I found a sympathy card in my mailbox. This is Laura. Laurie was very professional, personable, kind and easy to work with. My dogs loved Laura. She has extensive knowledge and history with working with people, training classes as well as her radio station where she offers free information and advice to her audience regarding dog behavior. I recommended Laurie without hesitation to anyone that has a fur baby that needs some support. Just remember it is the owner that needs the support and if you follow the recommendations Laura provides you will get a better outcome with your pup.

The acoustics at the facility in West Hartford, CT, were worse than anything I experienced... ever. We had to strain HARD to hear the entire first day of classes. We decided to come back on the 2nd day hoping that once people and dogs were spread out and the instructor working with us one on one, things would improve and we could hear better. But we never had a chance to test it out because the obedience class instructor NEVER SHOWED UP for the second session! Me and the other pet owners and dogs (nearly the full class) were left starching our heads. Stay away from this group. They are not ready for prime time.

From the moment we walked in, the groomer had an aggressive energy that made me hesitant to leave my dog, but I decided to give it a chance. I received a call saying things were going well--until suddenly, he snapped and bit her. While I absolutely don't condone that behavior, I have to be honest: her demeanor felt off from the start. Even when I returned, she had an attitude that felt more like "deal with your dog" than concern. My mini doodle showed no aggression toward her when I picked him up, which makes me feel like he was reacting to how he was being handled. What also confused me was the grooming process. She shaved him down before even washing him, despite saying she would work through the mats first. It's concerning because it feels like the grooming was rushed, and maybe that's when a mistake was made--perhaps he was nicked or mishandled. Instead of acknowledging that, the blame seems to be placed solely on the dog. After reading other reviews, I'm not the only one who feels like some of the groomers here lack the patience and care dogs deserve. Grooming should be done with gentleness, not fear or frustration, and unfortunately, that's not what we experienced today

Common courtesy is so simple yet so many people lack it. If someone says something to you, you respond back.. The cashier: long dark hair, sweatpants and a t-shirt seems miserable and was rude. I complained to the manager and all he did was interrupt me, wouldn't let me get a word in and gave me excuses. "She's soft spoken" blah blah. Eventually I got frustrated enough to swear on the phone because he kept talking over me and he ended up trying to end the call so I said "F you". It could've been different had he just listened for 2 minutes because I never talk to people like that. The manager was just as childish and rude as the cashier. One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a Petco.
