I honestly can't say enough good about Shawn Anderson - owner of Visionscapes…read more My fiancee and I met him when looking to replace a shoddy landscape developer when building our custom home who didn't return calls when time was of the essence - when we found Shawn and Visionscapes our home was already framed up but was still heavily under construction and we knew we needed to have a plan in place while it was being built to ensure it didn't cost us more later to get what we wanted. Shawn almost immediately met us on-site - walked around with us - listened to what we wanted - and came up with a comprehensive plan for the property - both front and back yard. He met us at home with a large printed landscape design plan, with plants laid out, pavers, etc. and he went over everything in detail and seemed really excited about the project. Initially we chose to only have the front landscaped - as our dreams for the back are fairly lofty - but because we already knew what we wanted - Shawn met with our builders to advocate for us and ensure we had the proper equipment in advance. For example, I want a custom large fire pit - so he made sure we had the proper output we needed to later install the pipes and such (more jargon needed but I don't remember it now). It would save us a lot of trouble than if we had to change this after the home was built. Shawn's team came out and landscaped our front yard and it's fantastic. He installed specific plants I wanted (white and blue/green hydrangeas) and made a really nice design based on the layout of the home in the lot. When we were finalizing the home there was a mistake made with relation to the landscape plan Shawn made and we submitted to our builders and the cement walkway to the front - while this was being corrected neither we, nor our builders, could figure out the best and most visually pleasing way to fix this issue. We called Shawn and texted him some photos on-site and he sent over within minutes a rough sketch of what he thought we should do - it was perfect and none of us (about 6 people) had even thought about it. He's that good. Really. Because some of the ideas we were having thrown out prior to calling Shawn were pretty bad. And again, time was important, they were pouring it the next day as a quick fix so if we hadn't gotten him on the phone who knows what it would look like today! Shawn has come out and met with us a few times on other items - like fencing for our front and back yard - and he's always willing to set up a time to come to your home and meet with you to discuss. He comes prepared with your home plans, lot layout, and has a well thought-out and planned out design with photos of the plants he suggest so you can see them and approve them. I like someone who did their homework and comes prepared. He makes you feel like you're important and worth the time. That's a big plus. At our last meeting, about fencing in some of our front yard, he walked around to look at the previous landscaping as we mentioned not all the flowers bloomed. He said if they didn't bloom this year to let him know and they'd replace them. Now THAT is good customer service. No excuses, no arguing, no complaints, just, "let me know and we'll fix it if we need to." Another thing we like about Shawn is he almost always answers his phone. He's honest, dependable, approachable and does what he says he will. You get what you pay for folks - and Shawn and his team are top notch. Every Tuesday is senior Tuesday so they get 10% off. Their flowers and vegetables are always so green and healthy looking. Prices can be a little much but it's hard work keep in the babies alive I assume. They always have sales every week there's something different that's on sale. They have multiple locations throughout the Hampton Roads area and Virginia Beach and Norfolk and Williamsburg. I went to them last year the shop in Poquoson, and found out that they usually close mid July and that's where everything is marked to 50% off so I walked away with a beautiful hibiscus that came up this year so I had to return for more plants. The pop-up shops in parking lots are open March to mid July so plan accordingly. I've also been to the big store in Virginia Beach and it is overwhelming but in a good way I recommend hitting that shop up.

I contacted Chesbay about removing a tree that I thought needed to be removed. They came over and…read moregave a very well priced estimate of what the job would cost which included stump grinding. They started the job in the middle of March and stated this would be a 2 week process. It turned into a 2 month process and they didnt finish until the middle of May. They were delayed when they dropped a branch on the power line and it was on the ground. This was a big safety hazard and they had to wait for the power company to make it safe again. They also wouldnt work in the rain....until the last week when it was raining every day and they still would work to finally finish the job Here's where things really went wrong. I was asked if I wanted some of the wood for whatever. I said sure, if you can make it manageable. One of the workers put his chainsaw blade up to some of the tree that was which I said was perfect. They asked me how much of the wood I wanted, I stated, all if it if its manageable. Jimmy, who I think is the owner comes by and says the job is complete. They had left these huge chunks on the lawn, which was destroyed, and when he comes over for the final payment, I asked him, what am I gonna do with this. I cant move this. He said he could move it for price. In the contract we had, it stated they would clean up. Check the pictures posted below and let me know if that would fill the bill. Jimmy stated, "I have people saying you wanted all of the wood." I told him I do if it was manageable. Jimmy then said, "I have someone who can come over and split this up for you and I'll get back to you by the end of the week." He never got back to me. I made several calls maybe 15, of only 1 which was returned. This process of cleaning up to see what was left has taken me 7 months to clean up what I can. The tree stump grinding wasnt finished either. Its still above ground over most of where the tree was and part of it is still sticking up another foot above ground. It also looked like they were in the process of cutting the wood up and were told to leave it alone. Several pieces were cut around 20 inches but not all the way through. If they couldnt do what was promised, they should at least notify me and I could have made that choice to where to take it away or leave it but when Jimmy told me he could get someone to come and split the wood, I would have taken the wood. If he had been upfront, it would have been, take it away. 3 people cant even budge several of what was left. I shouldnt have ever given the 2nd check as the job wasnt finished. Thats a my mistake. I trust people at their word. If you do work with them, make sure its 100% finished or you will get ghosted like myself
