We have been working with Lovebugs for the past month to adopt a new member of our family. We met Toby ( aka "Royce" ) at a rain soaked event. We had decided we were ready to adopt another rescue, and were just starting to look. There were many wonderful dogs ready for a home, but we were really attracted to him. We talked at length with his foster ( Morgan ), and decided to fill out an application. We really appreciated the care Lovebugs takes to find the best home. We hoped we would be chosen, but understood if this was not found to be the correct match. We received a call, submitted requested pictures, and a concern was expressed about gaps in our yard fencing. Morgan came to our house, I suggested a solution that the rescue found acceptable, and I proceeded to install a wire screen around the entire fence lines and gate. Although we never leave a dog outside alone, I also believe in taking actions to prevent any chance of him getting out. ( Besides, it will keep the bunnies from coming in to eat my plants ). Some people here expressed concerns about not being considered because of their age. We did the math in the beginning and recognize the age concerns of any rescue. We clearly are seniors. However, we also knew our family and had a plan in place before we even started looking. Toby is already meeting all of our family members, and will visit their homes frequently. When he made his initial visit, my son who would care for him if we couldn't, came down to meet him. In our family, if any member could not longer care for a pet, others who are totally known to them would provide a loving and familiar home. We do hope he is with us for his entire life, but if anything did happen, he would be in a familiar, and very loving, home, with people who know and care for him. Another concern expressed here on Yelp was the adoption fee. When Toby was found, he had been living outdoors for awhile. Lovebugs provided full vet care, microchip, all of the inoculations, neutering, a special diet, toys, and a lot of love. The fee was certainly minimal considering the costs. Toby has only been with us a few days, but he's very relaxed, and will be our everywhere companion. We really appreciated the care, communication, and focus provided by Lovebugs. We won't be strangers ... and we'll gladly recommend this agency to anyone. read more

Do not adopt from this rescue. All they care about is money. Kelly has zero people skills and will talk you to death. She is shady, conniving, and downright disgusting. I can't believe I fell for any of her promises. I am left heartbroken and angry. For context, please read below.: I was happy and accommodating to foster a dog that was rescued in a different county. I was available the very next day. Kelly coordinated the drop off. She did not, nor did the rescue have hands on this dog whatsoever. It went from the lady who rescued him from the street straight to me. We bonded instantly with this dog. I have four kids who are in love with this dog by the way. We even gave him a name, got a dog tag for him and everything. I made the doctors appointments and brought him to them. I purchased his food, his toys, his collar, everything. I did not ask for a penny. I told Kelly that I wanted to adopt this dog as soon as his appointments were clear. She rushed me and told me that she had so many people interested in him and that she needed the money right away. I told her that I could not pay until the 24th which is by the way tomorrow. I took him to his last vet appointment Today and she took him from the vet and did not even tell me. Even though she knew that we wanted to adopt him. She didn't give me or my kids a chance to say goodbye. All she kept saying is I had a week and a half to send $500 to adopt him. I've only had him for two weeks. I knew I wanted to adopt him Thursday. I was not going to send her money until after his vet appointment today. And I was very clear about that. But she still was shady and picked him up from the vet and called me after she put him in a new foster home. what kind of rescue is this? Who does this? You claim that you are all about the animal and finding them a forever home, but you literally ripped him from my home and my children's hearts. Although I've heard good things about this rescue, I had a terrible experience with a mean spirited volunteer/coordinator at this rescue who seems to relish judging, demeaning, and personally insulting potential adopters. I feel bad for anyone that has to interact with this person as she lacks empathy and is truly unpleasant and unkind. She appears to be obsessed with the power to decide who is "worthy" and appears to thrive on reducing adopters to "beg" with no reasons given instead of the doing what's in the best interest of the dogs. If an adopter doesn't respond in just the right way using the exact right "key" words, at the exact right time, you are mercilessly cut off and deemed unworthy. Based on previous reviewers that had similar experiences, this volunteer either needs to step away or badly needs some interpersonal skills, human relations, and bias training otherwise, your experience will be SOUL CRUSHING and she will appear to delight in it. As a a huge animal lover, I am a big fan of Lovebugs and the work they do for rehoming so many pets. I enjoy following their social media to see the new dogs and their success stories. My neighbor is currently a foster, so I am very informed of all the time and efforts behind the scenes to make sure each dog is ready to go to their forever home. The dogs are groomed, neutered/spayed, vaccinated, and treated for any medical conditions, including dentals/extractions before they are adopted...and all at the cost of the rescue. Im 70. and we have adopted a wonderful little Yorkie in November 2024. and my son from aug 2024. to Feb 2025 have adopted 4 French bulldogs. all which had some very expensive medical issues from abuse that LoveBugs paid for 100% and still the adoption fee was very reasonable. especially when you are looking at 5K to go buy a Frenchie. 300to 500 is a steal read more

They say "puppy XYZ is reviewing applications" only to post a few weeks down the line and say puppy XYZ has been adopted. We have been trying to adopt through lovebugs for weeks now. Their business model is not conducive to real dog rescues. Methinks they are profit driven and practice age discrimination. We were kind of irritated that we had to submit a complete multipage application to even be taken seriously for an adoption, but you can't even see the pet first. So there you are, giving out all of your personal info to someone(?) who is supposed to get back to you but does not. We almost got a chance at one dog, did send in the requested photos of our home, dog door and well fenced yard, but we are seniors and after the fact they turned us down. We were so ready to adopt! We sent in apps for two other dogs. Nothing! We realized then that is it probably age discimination. We don't like being blown off like that. We are the best deal any dog could ask for, we have had many very healthy, happy dogs. It's demeaning to deal with these folks. You are better off at Priceless Pets. They truly are a great rescue operation. We are thrilled with the pup we got there. Skip lovebugs, all they do is waste your time. read more

In reading the reviews, I'm shocked. The age discrimination people may be correct but getting it all wrong. The staff at Lovebugs have only one life in mind - the dog you want to rescue. The worst thing ever for a dog is to get returned years later because the owner can't take care of them anymore. Now they're an older dog, possibly with health issues, they've lost their best friend and now harder to place. You may be an active senior now, but in 10 - possibly 15 years, you can't say you will be active. Maybe you will and maybe you won't. None of us know our fate. My suggestion, if you truly want to rescue and give love to a dog (or or any animal), is to rescue a senior dog. They still love the beach, the horse stables and the parks. Maybe their walks are shorter and slower, but so will yours someday. It sounds to me that the "seniors" here are thinking of themselves and not truly the dogs that need to be rescued. I am a Lovebugs rescuee (yes, he rescued me!). Harry (Harry Winston) is 13y and still active, but when I return to Lovebugs someday, it will be for a senior dog that will not out live me. For me, that would be the worst. Have faith in the process, they truly care about their dogs, socialize and train their dogs and don't just give them away to anyone. Don't be offended, be happy for the dogs that they have people looking out for them. Thank you Lovebugs. read more

I was extremely disappointed with this rescue. I submitted an application for three different puppies and never heard back for any of them. Not a thank you for your application or anything. Since I hadn't heard back I reached out to them via their Instagram in hopes of getting a better response there or even an idea of the time frame the adoption would take or the process in general and again no response despite the message indicating as read. After some time I came to the realization that I probably was never going to hear back from them and had better luck adopting a beautiful lab/shepherd mix from Caring Songs Rescue. I hope that love bugs rescue seriously learns some customer service skills as at the end of the day we are all trying to do something good for the puppies. read more
