Toby relaxed in his new home.
    Tim S.

We have been working with Lovebugs for the past month to adopt a new member of our family. We met Toby ( aka "Royce" ) at a rain soaked event. We had decided we were ready to adopt another rescue, and were just starting to look. There were many wonderful dogs ready for a home, but we were really attracted to him. We talked at length with his foster ( Morgan ), and decided to fill out an application. We really appreciated the care Lovebugs takes to find the best home. We hoped we would be chosen, but understood if this was not found to be the correct match. We received a call, submitted requested pictures, and a concern was expressed about gaps in our yard fencing. Morgan came to our house, I suggested a solution that the rescue found acceptable, and I proceeded to install a wire screen around the entire fence lines and gate. Although we never leave a dog outside alone, I also believe in taking actions to prevent any chance of him getting out. ( Besides, it will keep the bunnies from coming in to eat my plants ). Some people here expressed concerns about not being considered because of their age. We did the math in the beginning and recognize the age concerns of any rescue. We clearly are seniors. However, we also knew our family and had a plan in place before we even started looking. Toby is already meeting all of our family members, and will visit their homes frequently. When he made his initial visit, my son who would care for him if we couldn't, came down to meet him. In our family, if any member could not longer care for a pet, others who are totally known to them would provide a loving and familiar home. We do hope he is with us for his entire life, but if anything did happen, he would be in a familiar, and very loving, home, with people who know and care for him. Another concern expressed here on Yelp was the adoption fee. When Toby was found, he had been living outdoors for awhile. Lovebugs provided full vet care, microchip, all of the inoculations, neutering, a special diet, toys, and a lot of love. The fee was certainly minimal considering the costs. Toby has only been with us a few days, but he's very relaxed, and will be our everywhere companion. We really appreciated the care, communication, and focus provided by Lovebugs. We won't be strangers ... and we'll gladly recommend this agency to anyone.

Lovebugs is an amazing rescue. Our family has gotten 3 dogs from them. 2 ourselves and my parents got 1. We had our baby Roger for 14 years and when he passed they helped us get Pep. They work hard to place dogs with the right people and are very realistic about the needs of each dog. We are so grateful for Lovebugs bringing our sweet pups into our lives. Heather and Kelly were wonderful and very kind in helping us get Roger and Pep after his passing.

My bf and I adopted our senior back in 2022 when she was 12 years old and we couldn't be happier! We love her so much and she's been nothing but a perfect addition to our family. Lovebug Rescue and their vetted fosters work hard to get their dogs adopted out to the right families that will fit the dogs needs and I don't think people realize how much work goes into that. Will always support this rescue and hopefully adopt another one in the future.

We had an amazing experience adopting our baby Kona from Lovebugs rescue. They communicated clearly and efficiently. Price was less or comparable to other adoption agencies. They were responsive from day 1 and made the adoption process easy and enjoyable. They were so amazing throughout the whole process, if you're looking for a pup and need a good recommendation they are the best option in my opinion.

I'm writing the review as a foster. I don't believe that there is a better rescue to foster for. The team at Lovebugs is so supportive! I have been made to feel like I'm part of this rescue family. They are always there to answer questions and help in anyway possible. They understand the ups and downs of fostering and are there to offer words of encouragement and support. It's clear how much they care about the dogs in their care. They go above and beyond to get them healthy and into their forever homes. If you are ever considering fostering, give Lovebugs a try. You won't be sorry! Here's a picture of my current Lovebugs foster, Tillie.

We are so so grateful to Lovebugs for our sweet boy Milo! We adopted Milo about a year ago, so this review is long overdue. We had been looking to add another pup to our family for some time, and a picture of Milo on Lovebugs' instagram caught our eye, so we applied online. The next morning, we got a call from Heather who asked us some interview questions and allowed us to stop by the same day for a meet and greet. As soon as we saw Milo, we knew he was coming home with us. Heather walked us through the paperwork and we paid the adoption fee of $400 (which was very reasonable since Lovebugs covers first round of puppy shots, microchip, and neuter when they're old enough). The adoption process was quick and easy, and it was a pleasure getting to meet Heather. She does a wonderful job of running Lovebugs Rescue, and all her hard work to get so many pups into their forever homes is much appreciated. Thank you Heather and Lovebugs!

Do not adopt from this rescue. All they care about is money. Kelly has zero people skills and will talk you to death. She is shady, conniving, and downright disgusting. I can't believe I fell for any of her promises. I am left heartbroken and angry. For context, please read below.: I was happy and accommodating to foster a dog that was rescued in a different county. I was available the very next day. Kelly coordinated the drop off. She did not, nor did the rescue have hands on this dog whatsoever. It went from the lady who rescued him from the street straight to me. We bonded instantly with this dog. I have four kids who are in love with this dog by the way. We even gave him a name, got a dog tag for him and everything. I made the doctors appointments and brought him to them. I purchased his food, his toys, his collar, everything. I did not ask for a penny. I told Kelly that I wanted to adopt this dog as soon as his appointments were clear. She rushed me and told me that she had so many people interested in him and that she needed the money right away. I told her that I could not pay until the 24th which is by the way tomorrow. I took him to his last vet appointment Today and she took him from the vet and did not even tell me. Even though she knew that we wanted to adopt him. She didn't give me or my kids a chance to say goodbye. All she kept saying is I had a week and a half to send $500 to adopt him. I've only had him for two weeks. I knew I wanted to adopt him Thursday. I was not going to send her money until after his vet appointment today. And I was very clear about that. But she still was shady and picked him up from the vet and called me after she put him in a new foster home. what kind of rescue is this? Who does this? You claim that you are all about the animal and finding them a forever home, but you literally ripped him from my home and my children's hearts. Now he is even more confused, and scared and in someone else's home. Shame on you for allowing Kelly to manipulate the situation without getting my side of the story.

So he saw me coming from a mile away and left them here but said only for a few hours and surprise surprise he never came back or answered his phone after that or replied to any of my texts. And as a matter of fact blocked me all together on fb. So i did what i had to do when i was left with no other choice but to look in to relinquishing them to a shelter. And it was tough because the first day after he brought them WITHOUT a cage and just brought the babies in a shoebox and momma he was holding in his arms with no food for momma. So he screwed me. And i had to do what i had to do. So i understood everywhere i went at first because the number 1 policy is that the person taking the animal or animals has to live in that city so the first three had a legitimate excuse but then i went to the appropriate one and my bad i forgot my ID ive never done this before so i didnt know there was such a process. And i went took the cats back home and got my ID went the next day with kittens ID ready to go because thats what they said that thats the only thing i would need to be helped there. And im there a different woman and the same one that was there the day before were now both at front desk and the one i hadnt seen the day before starts to ask for my ID and asks what i was doing and i look at the other one and i asked her if now i was going to be helped because i did what she said and the other one asked me what seemed like a TRICK QUESTION one that no matter how i answered would be the wrong answer and i knew i was there the day before so i said two days because i didnt want to lie and the girl says its $800. $100 for each cat because ive had them for two days so that made them legally my pets AND I WAS HOT BECAUSE FIRST OFF IM NOT A PIECE OF SHIT I WOULD NEVER TAKE ANY OF MY PETS TO A FUCKING SHELTER. I CARE FOR MY PETS THEIR MY FAMILY. So then i said because some guy abandoned them that made them mine really because i was there the day before but they didnt want to proceed even when i promised i would email a picture of my identification. So im trying to do the right thing and would it have been better if i left them at their door and one of the women immediately talks over me and takes a copy of my id without my permission and says she's going to use it and contact the authorities and say i abandoned my cats and its a felony and all of this with my dad sitting in a chair in the waiting room. She was talking out of her ass like if she were a lawyer guarantee she doesnt know the law. But thats how bad this place is

This was my family's first experience with pet adoption. Pet Match Rescue (PMR) made the experience smooth and organized, by having the adoptable pets online for review and applications available online so that you can prepare one in advance. You can look at their events list for an opportunity to meet the dog and talk with someone from the Pet Match organization. I love how Pet Match cares for its animals and focuses primarily on what is in the best interest in each of its dogs. They want to meet everyone in your family, talk with you and ensure there will be plenty of love and good compatibility between you and your future pet. If you want an organization where you just give them money and get a dog, no questions asked...this is not the place for you! They truly love their dogs and want them to have the best possible home. On the day of the event, we arrived at Petco and followed the Pet Match signs to visit Beverly, the beautiful little Yorkie/Pomeranian that we previously viewed on the website. We found a pen with some of the adoptable dogs in it, along with Phyllis, their foster mom. There we had an opportunity to visit with Beverly and chat with Phyllis about the dog. We found Phyllis to be a very friendly, caring foster mom for these dogs, with a very loving heart. She told us all about the little dog, including how she likes to play, her personality and eating habits. We were given an opportunity to take the dog for a short walk and get acquainted with our possible new companion. Along the walk our family spoke with Phyllis and shared what our home would be like for Beverly. After our brief walk and visit with Beverly, we decided that we would love for her to be a member of the family. We took our completed adoption papers to the table where we met Linda. We were a bit nervous when we talked with Linda, since we were anxiously hoping that we would be accepted as a match for Beverly. We talked about our home, told her a little about ourselves and even showed her pictures of our home. I thought bringing pictures of our home and the neighborhood where we would walk her, with lush greenbelts would help show Pet Match what it would be like for Beverly to live with us. The next morning, we received a call from Pet Match confirming that our family was matched with Beverly and that they would like to come with Beverly to visit our home. The next day, Linda brought Beverly to our home along with a big bag of toys and treats. Together we watched as Beverly played in our home and became comfortable in her new surroundings. Linda is very compassionate about their dogs and before we knew it, hours had gone by. She gave us lots of good advice on how to care for Beverly and showed us which food products were the best and which ones were not recommended. Linda talked to us about Beverly's feeding schedule and showed us all of the products, treats and coupons in the goodie bag. We enjoyed Linda's visit and appreciated all the advice that she provided about Beverly. She is an exceptional member of the Pet Match team and really goes the extra length to successfully adopt a pet. Beverly has been a wonderful addition to our family and has brought us much love and happiness. We couldn't be more pleased!

We looked on petfinder.com for a new puppy and we see a litter of six havanese mix puppies that are as adorable as can be. I submit an application and am told via email that we cannot see them unless we show up at a public viewing the following Sunday at the Petco in Newport Beach. It was Father's Day so we had to change our plans around to make it in time. They were showing them from noon to 3pm and we showed up at 2:30. The place was a mad-house. Totally mobbed with people from all over So Cal waiting around to get their 5 minutes in the play pen with the gorgeous puppies. There were literally over 100 people there during our stay. Our turn came and, after being handled all day, the puppies were all exhausted and taking naps. Still cute but it was way too difficult to request any one in particular. We needed to submit the names of our requested puppy(s) on the application, and then wait for a call. We figured there was no way we would "make the cut" but I did get a call on the following Tuesday. We were told that, based on our application (we listed that we had a kitten at home) we would best be matched with one named "Agate". We would need to agree to that one in particular but that was not one that we asked for. Based on Agate's personality, he would most likely have the best chance in a home with a kitten. We were thrilled to get any of the six and certainly welcomed their recommendation. They were going to stop by and do a home inspection later in the week. We did the recommended shopping for the right food, toys, playpen, etc. and awaited our meeting. We knew from experience that they wanted no dog door, locks on all of the side gates, a good perimeter fence, a nice yard with grass and someone home most of the day. Not great to lock up a puppy all day while mom and dad are working. Hence some of the bad reviews. Hey, I get it. When the puppies are cute and close to pure bread, these places can afford to be picky. Anyone can go to a shelter and pick up a chihuahua or pit bull and will cost next to nothing. A cute, almost pure bread, puppy will require different rules and a higher adoption fee. This is not a for-profit enterprise but they do charge more where they can and use the extra funds to help defray costs of running their program. What they do here is amazing. For example, we were ready to adopt Agate right away but we could not bring him home for two more weeks while he was battling an ear infection. The foster family, who was housing and raising all six puppies, was making sure he was strong and healthy before placement, and not looking to turn a quick buck. Our adoption fee was $625 (I think) which was a lot more than a dog from a pound and a lot less than a pure bread puppy from a breeder. Agate, now called Oliver, is a lovable healthy adorable little guy and were are lucky to have him. The folks here are all amazing, caring volunteers and they run a wonderful service.

i'm torn about making this review. while i am so thankful for our dog, winston, i am very…read moredisappointed in the lack of care by the rescue. upon meeting winston, my boyfriend and i noticed one of his eyes looked a little cloudy. when we asked the staff about it, they insisted that it was nothing and referred to winston's medical records. he is such a sweet dog and he's been an amazing addition to our family. however, it has barely been a month and i've already had to spend $2k on vet bills. i tried contacting the priceless pets vet that they refer their customers to, however they were no help at all. i ended up finding my own vet who confirmed winston is blind on the eye we pointed out, his teeth/ mouth was filled with infections and decayed teeth, and he had a lot of fleas. he needed several teeth extracted, and in doing so, they confirmed his age to be 6-7 years old. priceless pets told us he was 4 years old. overall, i do not regret adopting winston. i just wish the shelter did a better job of taking care of their animals and disclosing important information so that people know what they're getting into. i was not anticipating spending $2k within the first month of adopting our dog. had this all been disclosed, i could've at least prepared better. if you're looking to adopt a dog from here, i encourage you to have them conduct a full medical examination before doing so. don't rely on the medical history paperwork they provide upon adoption.
