This is a wonderful rescue organization. They have a dog side and a cat side. I have actually adopted 4 cats from them on different occasions. Everyone working and volunteering here is very friendly and helpful in giving as much information as they can about the animals. When they take in the rescues, they socialize and observe them so they can find out their personality traits to help to get them to the right homes. All of the animals to my knowledge are neutered, chipped and receive their 1st set of shots before they adopt them out. I couldn't be happier with my 4 fur babies. I adopted two litter mates as kittens in 2007, then just 2 months later adopted another kitty from them and then again in 2012 we adopted our last cat from them after fostering her for a few months. I couldn't love my babies any more than I do. They also have a policy that if for any reason you are unable to keep the animal you adopted they will take them back and re-home them. I've always had a great experience with New Beginnings and definitely always refer anyone who is looking for a furr-ever pet to give them a visit.

Our boy Weezer just celebrated his second birthday. We adopted him from NEW BEGINNINGS last year when he was barely a year old. He had quite a few personality issues. But he's wonderful now and we love him so much. He has no idea how spoiled he is. We had a very good experience with our adoption last year. They were very thorough checking us out, making sure we were the right home for Weezer. And it looks like we were.

O.G.'s in his forever home.. some one saw my post/pic.. showed their friend who had just said goodbye to their LOOK ALIKE 11 year old pittie in March. In a two hour whirlwind of emotions, he became the best Mother's Day present ever! To them and to ME. I knew if I did everything I could, God would toss us a miracle. Thanks for your part in it. I will be forever grateful that I found this AMAZING AND WONDERFUL rescue organization. I am the proud adopted mother of Dougie, a marvelous male chihuahua whom I adopted from them in January 2022. EVERYTHING about the adoption process was beyond excellent. After looking on their website I saw Dougie... and right then I looked at this little guy and fell in love. I filled out preliminary information and upon knowing he was available I completed a questionnaire. The questions asked made me feel confident that their organization was thorough in making sure I would be a good match for him...unlike other organizations that unfortunately just push adoptions. I had a lovely and lengthy phone interview with a representative where we discussed Dougie, his known background and my ability to live and care for him. Then a convenient "meet and greet" took place so Dougie and I could be together. And then I ABSOLUTELY KNEW Dougie needed to be my forever boy and live in his new forever home. I cannot sing the praises of NEW BEGINNINGS enough. The organization is run with love, care and most importantly by qualified representatives doing their "due diligence" in making matches that are right, and lasting. They educated me in so many areas and provided great tips on transitioning. They continued to follow up with me ... THEY ARE FANTASTIC!!!! I could not be happier having Dougie as my own buddy. Thanks to NEW BEGINNINGS it was a perfect match

Ask the Community - New Beginnings for Animals

Over the years, I have had several dogs who have passed away. I am having a hard time letting go of their collars, toys, harnesses, dog beds, etc. I have dog food and potty pads, etc. Would you be able to use these?

Thank you for thinking of us! Please send us an email, but we likely can use some of it! Info@greatpets.org

A $45 penalty on a $25 licensing fee is excessive, and when I asked if they could offer even a one-time courtesy waiver, they were completely inflexible and uninterested in working with me. They claim they "send reminders," but I told them I never received any reminder notices, and if I had, I would have paid the licensing fee immediately. Their response was basically that it was my problem, not theirs. What's even more frustrating is that it took four years before they left a tag on my door, and then they turned around and charged me $180 in late fees. Instead of notifying residents in a timely way, it feels like they let the penalties build up and then hit you with a huge bill. This department feels more focused on collecting fees than actually helping residents stay compliant. I understand rules and licensing requirements, but there should be reasonable communication and some basic courtesy -- especially when someone is willing to pay. I am not sure how anyone with fix income can afford these type of penalties. And I am surprise why no one has attempted to stop this SCAM

I…read morenever got the chance to meet Delphine & never told by anybody at CARMA that she was adopted! I fell in love with this kitty, decided to open my heart & applied for her on March 30th! I couldn't wait to add her to welcome her to my family! She would have 6 other kitty siblings to play with & snuggle with! I waited 2 days, the sign says after you apply, somebody from CARMA will contact you in 48 hours! Huh, found out April 3rd, 3 days later at 1:43am through Adopt A pet, that Delphine was adopted & her profile removed! April 3rd at 9am I messaged them to see if that was a mistake & around 1:40pm I get a text from Tina. She said she tried to contact my manager & yes Delphine was adopted! Like yall couldn't contact me to ask about my manager? Your sign says in 48 hours you'll contact me, not my manager right away! I texted Tina back explaining about the planned power outage we had on the 2nd & that the manager's office was closed, nobody was there! Tina texted back requesting the number & the complex I live in so I did, then she texted back she'll contact her & me, both never happened! Tina lied! Besides if she was adopted, why do you need to call? I was confused & hurt! Not an apology or even suggesting another kitty! I feel like CARMA discriminated against me! April 8th I messaged CARMA & Rita Gatto responded. Again no apologies or no suggestion of another kitty, nothing, just "Well I don't know how a power outage affects the phone call" to "We're all volunteers with a day job" excuse! Well with the power outage & the manager's office being closed because of it, nobody's there to answer phones, yet you couldn't contact me? You couldn't hold Delphine until you do? You sign again says in 48 hours you'll contact the applicant to meet the kitty, not my manager right away! Yall ass backwards & screwed me out of an adoption! CARMA doesn't care about how I had decided to open my heart to Delphine & how much it hurts that they literally f***ed me over! Rita Never responded to my second email because to them, you're not allowed to be mad! I reached out to other adoption agencies & they all told me they always let applicants know that the kitty or puppy has been adopted & always suggest to come down & see another pet they may like. They never treat people coldly like CARMA did to me! When I posted my situation on social media, other people came forward with the same or similar situation. Some even said they discriminate against people with multiple pets, some say that CARMA can be very racist & also it's about adopting to rich people or people with being comfortable financially! Not people with heart or experienced cat owners like me! I faced discrimination at the last place I lived & had to move out because they didn't want me rescuing cats. I moved out after 18 years & was homeless with 7 cats & my elderly mom that I care for. We we're homeless for 4 & a half months! Most people would drop their cats off at the shelter or dump them on the side of the road! I kept us together! I took Pintobean to the vet & spent $600 on getting his bloodwork done, xrays & other things, but the vet told me he was fine, then a week after the vet, he died! I opened my heart to this kitty Delphine, her birthday was te same, different year, but not one apology or suggestion, just the cold shoulder! Also, I know for a fact if I didn't send that message on April 3rd, nobody from CARMA would of contacted me because they are all lazy & full of excuses! I bet Delphine's new parents never had to struggle in their life or really know the meaning of being a cat parent! Oh yeah, the CARMA volunteer at the Petsmart wanted me to give them a positive review...LMAO!!

She's very calm and I like her cat metaphors when we go to into different stretches. It's very simple yoga that any beginner can follow. We thought we found the one at Doggie Bonez. We initially reached out via the website asking for more info on a specific dog. After a day with no response, we filled out an application because we were serious about adopting and called to follow up. Our calls went unanswered and unreturned. A few days later we reached out via social media and finally got a response from a volunteer. However, everything is managed and run through Jackie so the volunteer offered to reach out to her. Several days later Jackie finally texted. We were so excited! She confirmed the dog was still available, offered to get us updated photos and coordinate with the foster family about setting up a time to meet the dog. Days went by with no reply from her. We reached out again with no reply. At this point we decided to cut our losses and move on. We had been trying to get even the most minimal information for nearly two weeks and ultimately we were ghosted. I understand being the point person for an entire rescue organization can be daunting but a simple acknowledgement that she was working on it or it was on her to do list would have gone a long way. Opening our hearts and home to another dog was a big deal for us and part of our journey to heal after loosing our best boy. Our experience with Jackie and Doggie Bonez was an emotional rollercoaster of being hopeful and excited then being let down with silence. The whole experience was traumatic for me and I would caution anyone choosing to engage with this particular rescue. These dogs deserve loving homes so I wouldn't discourage anyone from adopting but it would be remiss if I didn't share our experience. I hope we were the exception and not the rule to how this rescue is run.

When we went to the front desk, we were asked to complete a survey, which was understandable. However, after reviewing the survey, a staff member named Casey decided that the kittens were "not a good fit" for me without ever allowing me to interact with them. What was frustrating was that the decision seemed to be made solely based on the survey, with no opportunity for me to meet the kittens or discuss my experience with pets. Casey repeatedly stated that the kittens were "mouthy," as if I wasn't aware that kittens can bite, scratch, and be playful while they're still young. Rather than allowing us to interact with them and make an informed decision, we were simply told it wasn't worth it because they weren't a good fit. I understand the importance of finding suitable homes for animals, but making assumptions about potential adopters without even allowing an interaction felt unfair and discouraging. I left feeling judged and dismissed instead of supported through the adoption process.
