We enjoyed their samples but the recording quality did not do the band justice, they ended up being even better in person! We had a pianist and sound setup for our ceremony as well as a five piece band for our cocktail hour and reception. All three were in different places at our venue and they were able to make timely transitions from space to space despite only one working elevator. In almost no time at all they could find the right balance and volume to fill any given space. In terms of music, Geechi and his folks are serious musicians. They can be as flashy or as subtle as the situation demands, our bartender even called them "the real deal". They were able to accommodate for our song requests even if they were sometimes outside of their repertoire. But if you likes blues/funk/jazz you'll be in for a serious treat! Their version of "Two Sleepy People" will live on forever as the perfect end to our wedding. He was also a phenomenal MC. He coordinated smoothly with our planner and even played along to a fun scripted we had made for our entrance at the reception. He also managed to keep folks (many introverted folks) dancing deep into the night as well! We look forward to seeing him and his band again someday! I'm not sure what the occassion will be, but we'd love to re-experience a little bit of the magic from our wedding night, even if just for one song.

These guys play your favorite songs from the 70s, 80, 90s, and now. One minute they'll be singing Bon Jovi, and then the next minute they'll be playing Maroon 5. They really have quite the range. At the Sweetwater show, everyone was singing along and dancing their butts off. These guys rocked the house for 3 hours straight. I went home with a big smile on my face. For a few hours, this 43 year-old curmudgeon felt like a teenager again. The first time I saw them was at a pool party. When I heard "90s cover music", I was skeptical. But when I saw them, I had to hire them for my birthday party. Hiring them was an easy and pleasant experience. They provided a list of songs they play, but also gave me the option to surprise me. They were easy to work with and followed up on questions to make the performance a really good experience. I really wanted the guest to enjoy the party. As the band was warming up, I walked by one of the guest watching the band and I heard under their breath "this is awesome."

I…read more saw Tainted Love AGAIN last night at Bimbo's for a Valentine's Day extravaganza, and of their performance I have several thoughts, in no particular order: 1) San Francisco eateries were offering "Valentine's Day Menu Specials" for an average of $70 a head. I paid $70 for 2 tickets to see Tainted Love, AND a bunch of beers/vodka cocktails, and I guarantee I and mine had a way better time than all you fools at your fancy restaurants. 2) Tainted Love is the best excuse for supposedly mature adults to dress up in '80s gear. Think, like, hot pink denim, American flag memorabilia, and neon plastic sunglasses. Side ponytails optional. 3) Ummmm homegirl belting the Madonna/ACDC/Michael Jackson choons is PREGGERS. And not like a little bit preggers, like oh-my-god-she-is-going-to-pop preggers. And she still rocked those songs the same way she did 9 months ago. Tight. 4) Having the chick sing 'Beat It' and 'You Shook Me All Night Long'? Genius. 5) Maybe it was the smoke, neon lights and stars in my eyes (literally, like I included star glitter as part of my make-up and proceeded to sweat stars into my eyes) but those guys are hot while they're singing. Damn. 6) You hit almost EVERY SINGLE ONE of my fave. eighties songs - even included 'Purple Rain.' Impressive.

Looking around for a great one in our area to do the kinds of things we wanted was so tough and super expensive that it became unrealistic... Until one fateful day, my wife(now) and I were hanging with some friends at Boswell's in Campbell having some drinks and heard this band come on. They were busting Usher, Katie Perry, Taio Cruz, Sean Kingston, Journey and it blew my mind! We had to get them. The bouncer gave me their name and the rest was history! I contacted the band and I got a hold of their manager Jana, who was an absolute pleasure to work with. She responded to all my emails promptly and was very professional and sweet. Music is so significant to me as my fiance and I spent over a year coming up with a playlist. Jana made sure to accommodate it or at least get on the same page with the types of jams we wanted. Even up until the 11th hour when I was stressing about wedding stuff she was nice to assure me that they got everything covered and that the band will handle it... and they sure did!!! They were even detailed enough to dress and match to your event theme. Everyone was loving the band throughout our wedding as I even saw some guests dancing to the "dinner" music portion of our wedding. They couldn't wait until after the festivities since they sounded so good. Even our older guests couldn't help but dance too even if it wasn't their "type" of music. Eric, the band leader was very kind and handled all the MC announcements well and gave us the impression that they were there for us and not just to perform and get paid. Janelle, their female vocalist will hypnotize you with her beautiful voice and then bust out a blazing fast rhyme and mimic Nicki Minaj perfectly. She's so versatile that its amazing. Eric, as expected, sounded real smooth and got the ladies swooning. Clay is a very talented drummer and even busted out a drum solo on one song that everyone had to stop dancing and admire. Scott and Aaron, the bass and guitar, were so friendly and amazing as well. HIRE THESE GUYS! If you want live Hip-Hop and R&B, these guys do it so well and it's hard to find one that will. They are great with your typical wedding music hits as well. You won't be sorry. They'll be worth the reasonable extra you'd be paying for a top notch DJ.

Then you say to yourself "THIS IS MOMENT IS GOING IN THE MOVIE THEY MAKE ABOUT MY LIFE!!!" Well this band creates that moment......ALL NIGHT! How they do it exactly? I'm not sure. But it has to start with the perfect balance of energetic playlist, amazing vocals and talented band. Oh and they playlist always seems to be changing. And I think that's awesome, because I haven't been to the same show twice yet. If given the chance you have to let them rock your event. Scratch that...make up a reason to party, hire them and invite me....deal? (the ONLY reason they didn't get that fifth star is because they aren't in the EastBay often. Positives: the classic old time speakeasy location inside Wilson & Wilson; instructor's enthusiasm and knowledge; emphasis on using quality homemade ingredients. Cons (see below; I need more room for this): Class size - the class was overflowing with every seat taken. I counted 22 people. With only one instructor, there was no time for interaction. Basic, basic, basic - we made 3 drinks. Old Fashioned, Margarita, Martini. Except for the selection of interesting quality ingredients, and some technique tips, these 3 cocktails are just about as basic as you can get. I've made far more adventurous cocktails at home. A Brief History of Cocktails (that wasn't brief at all) - The instructor went on and on and on with a Power Point that would have been interesting if it was broken up into sections and shortened considerably. After we made our first cocktail, the instructor spoke for almost an hour. Really poor pacing that ruined the class for me. Tools of the trade - I expected to hear about the tools that everyone should have in their home bar, but this was not covered well at all. If you've never ever made a cocktail at home, I could recommend taking this class. For anyone else, it will feel like you wasted $100. Except that the 3 cocktails you just made were really excellent, so it will probably feel like you drank a $33 Old Fashioned, $33 margarita, and a $33 martini. Don't forget to leave that extra $1 on the bar.

There were lots of staff on hand, so things got a little better when we got split up into groups, but even then not every group got the same experience, for example, we missed out on a lot of the liquid nitrogen stuff. For the price, I would have expected better prep and organization. To me it seemed like a lot of the staff/bartenders on hand where there to learn too, and it was the first time doing this stuff for them too. On the bright side, the staff were very helpful when we asked questions, and genuinely interested in passing on knowledge. Just very disorganised.
