Unfortunately I found myself checking in here on Halloween because I wasn't feeling well. Poorly prepared I found myself waiting about 7 hours in the ER before getting admitted into the hospital because they couldn't figure out what was going on with me at first. Luckily after getting admitted they took a ct scan and discovered I had pneumonia. Unfortunately I spent a few days in the hospital being treated with antibiotics through and IV and getting poked for the vampires every so often. My attending nurses and staff were so friendly and welcoming. They made sure I was well taken care of my entire stay. Thankfully I am now out and have returned to work. I'm grateful to have been cared for by these guys. Hopefully I won't be returning for awhile but if I do I will choose them again for my healthcare needs. read more

BEWARE SURVEILLANCE IN PLAY Went to see new cardiologist today. She was fine but I noticed a poster on the wall before she walked in telling me everything was under surveillance. Audio surveillance but not to worry because everything was safe. Yeah like the 12 year old hacker doesn't exist. This is not only an ethical but illegal. I've got a call into the hospital, will not pay the bill and I am disclosing since it seems Lovelace does not want to disclose until you walk into the room and happen to find the poster on your own. 8x11 'poster'. read more

I tried to bring into the Lovelace ER in downtown Albq an injured woman I found in the hospital's parking structure. No one helped me or cared. I got the woman into my car and drove her to the ER door but there was no staff inside. No one at registration, only one woman behind a locked door in admissions. The dirty, run down waiting room was full. I knocked on the admissions door after being instructed by a wandering medical person but angrily was waved off by the woman inside. After the door finally opened I was chewed out by this thirty something, dark haired, young woman with thick false eyelashes who clearly didn't care about the situation. My car was still in the ER entrance, with the door open and this unknown woman crying in the front seat. After 15 minutes I finally got a wheelchair pushed by an annoyed woman and I got this injured stranger into the ER. I had to get my car moved so I have no idea if she ever received medical care. Lovelace is owned by a Tennessee corporation with no interest in New Mexicans. State lawmakers need to investigate this for corporation. It does not provide any minimal staffing or training. read more

My husband had surgery for lung cancer here on a Monday and spent 3 nights in ICU. His surgeon, Dr. Luis Cerda, and his pulmonologist, Dr. Viral Ghandi, the nurses, and all the personnel were amazing and took good care of him and me. The hospital is older, but clean. Yes, the other reviews about the food being marginal are true, but when someone's life is on the line I can figure out how to go out and get food and bring it back. read more

Of ALL the hospitals in Albuquerque, this has the WORST kitchen, by far. The food is not only terrible, it is GROSS! Ordering a meal is an exercise in futility. I have had to correct the information that Lovelace has for me during every single visit for 4 years now. Incompetence overflowing everywhere in Lovelace. Example: They still have my pcp listed wrong, and that pcp was an employee of Lovelace who left 4 years ago, but Lovelace still has her listed as my primary care! I have corrected this and many, many other incorrect facts, but Lovelace continues to fail. read more

Referred by Lovelace to wrong kind of doctor and when I arrived at the appointment had to wait a long time as they ran late, no parking lot spots in either structure and the NP I finally met with was about as kind as an angry rattlesnake. Never again! read more

My Dad spent 18 days at this hospital! While we had some really AMAZING people that helped support his care - *Dr. Griffen, Nurse Angelica and PT Marcus, our overall experience was not positive. The information exchange at shift change often included incorrect information. One of the nights, the GI specialist called and suggested he had to go in for an immediate procedure...one that earlier in the day, we had been told was not viable...only to come the next morning and learn they didn't do a procedure at all. The night shift nurses often set back progress immensely through increased meds or sedation (not in alignment with his care plan). When he was leveled down from critical to non-critical ICU, then to a non-ICU floor, it was like going to a completely different hospital - the new care team didn't have access to the most recent or accurate records. They confused patient procedures, suggesting my Dad needed a thoracentesis; when I asked questions because this did not align with anything we had been told, they looked into it and realized they had confused him with another patient. And, the icing on the cake, after lots of discussion about being discharged to an intensive rehab which we even toured at their suggestion, my Dad was discharged home (3 hours away) with home health...but then they sent incomplete discharge paperwork to the home health agency, delaying care important for optimal outcomes. He was supposed to receive Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy as part of his discharge care; we are now two weeks out and my Dad has yet to receive a single service. *I want to call out that there were a few individuals that made the most critical time (the time in ICU) bearable and even hopeful. They are the only reason this is not a 1-star review. Those mentioned above are clearly aligned with their life's work; their passion and genuine care for the patients shines through. I am so grateful to have had them as part of my Dad's care team...and strongly believe they each had a meaningful role in him being here today. read more

My experience with providers have been wonderful. No complaints in this area. However, their billing department needs some vast improvements and caught them trying to double charge me for visit that had already paid in full for. Had to have 3 phone calls. 1st. rep didn't do what she promised. Other reps did better. Also messaged their billing department 4 times on the My Chart app. and they never responded until after I had called and cleared up issue. Why have communication feature on My chart with billing if no one is answering their messages in timely fashion. Lovelace is obviously getting paid extra if folks aren't watching their bills. I feel for the elderly and ill who can't really track such things. I told Lovelace billing shame on them for taking advantage of such patients. I hope my feedback to them will help with changes, but sincerely, I doubt it as if the technician that worked with me warned me that they may try to bill more, it has been happening for awhile. One of the last reps I spoke with said he had sent his concerns about these billing issues several times and never heard back. Not sure what their organizational issues are that there isn't response to their employees who try to make their system better. We can only hope they respond to patients. So this is a cavet emptor about Lovelace billing practices. I would highly recommend their cardiology department. So far great experience. read more

My husband came in due to high risk of heart attack/stroke and it was the worst decision ever. The nurses were rude. As I was crying my eyes out worried about my husband the nurse practically had a contractor stepping over my husbands body to redecoration the room. Bedside manners were nonexistent. If you come here they may drip paint over your head because they don't care about you. read more

Everyone , nurses and doctors were very attentive they made the right diagnosis and kept me a couple of days, Kool. The only reason I did not give 5 star is because of the food, I'm ​diabetic, the first , 2nd and 3rd thing they teach you for diabetes is no bread,potatoes, etc at all. I was told I'd get a diabetic menu for all meals ,but I was given french toast, tater tots and shredded potatoes for breakfast and meals, I didn't eat most meals but my purpose for this post is to point out the great service I received from my nurses and doctors, and also for Lovelace Hospitals to change their policies or menus for diabetic patients as if were ignorant to what we are suppose to eat. My care was great, Lovelace change your menus to accommodate your patients. read more

I recently had to have my ankle operated on and was sent to Lovelace Downtown had was required to have pre-surgical COVID testing. Their pre-surgical COVID screening was a bit of a joke. I was told that they only do it for three hours a couple times a week so you have to time your test correctly to be able to have your surgery. We got up super early to be there an hour early (we arrived around 6 and the testing was supposed to start at 7:00am. We were first in line. At a bit after 8:00am they told us that we weren't in the right spot (even though they had no signage) and so moved us to third in line even though we had been waiting over 2 hours and had initially been first. They tried to send us to the back of the line but my dad wasn't having it. I had also been told by my surgeon's team that if you were in line and arrived one minute past the ending time, they would not test you...thus our wanting to be super early to make sure I got my test and could therefore, have surgery. With that said, the COVID testing team was expeditious, professional and kind. No complaints about the actual medical team. And I'd like to send a big "thank you" out to them and all the medical personnel who are dedicating themselves to caring for all of us during this difficult time and beyond. I, for one, really appreciate you!!! So Lovelace COVID testing...not if you can go somewhere else. read more

Several repeat experiences render my opinion that this is the very worse hospital for ER treatment. Jang Garcia, lead PA, refused to do an MRI for my sister in law. Recommendations from the ER PA at Westside medical recommended the MRI. My sister in law had strained her back and required a visit to the ER were it was discovered a slipped disc/vertebra. She also complained about pain in her lower leg and foot from a fall the same day she strained her back. However because the MRI Machine was in process of being moved from a close by off site facility to inside the Westside hospital, the PA recommended we go to another Lovelace facility to obtain additional imaging. On Nov 21, we returned to the Westside Lovelace because of my sister in laws increased pain in the lower leg and foot. An X ray revealed no broken bones. However the treating PA suggested the downtown facility was specifically recommended because they have 2 MRI machines. Garcia, the Lead PA, said it was against their policy to order an MRI that wasn't an emergency. He would not give me a written statement or copy of their policy. He said an MRI could only be done based on an emergency. He didn't consider my sister in laws increasing leg, foot pain, and reduced mobility as an emergency from the fall incident, and based on Xray from her 2nd er visit Nov 21. This incident in fact constituted an emergency as the pain was worse, and It's just why we needed to have imagining to rule out any podetial significant medical problem. Garcia didn't think there was a need to look at soft tissue. He basically chose to disregard the Lovelace Westside Doctors recommendations. I stated if they didn't do the MRI and the injury got worse they could be liable. He was very arrogant and condescending. He said the MRI at Westside was down and not functioning. In fact he falsely claimed ALL Lovelave MRI machines were down and not working at all Lovelace locations. I called Westside and the new machine was up and working but did not have staff to operate it today. I called women's hospital and they said theirs was working. I also learned from my wife Sara that Garcia admitted they had 2 MRI machines at Lovelace downtown. However, one was not presently working. It was a clear confirmation Garcia intentionally lied. To me this should be clear grounds for termination or some form of corrective or disciplinary action. Garcia dismissed me from the room to examine my sister in law alone around 11 AM. My sister in law didn't confirm or deny I stay but Garcia was insistent I leave. I then said I would bring in Sara, my sister in laws sister who was her family legal rep. My wife Sara is a retired paralegal. Therefore, I brought in Sara and left the room to document this remaining ordeal. Garcia examined my sister in law. He said he needed to perform an exam of her himself basically excusing me . Of course no exam had been proposed or preformed before this point. He was confrontational. His customer service skills lacked any empathy or customer service compassion to deal with or professionally manage this entire situation. These virtues were totally absent. In fact we got the impression we were merely an inconvenience. Overall, the treatment towards me totally sucked. He was disrespectful. As I had advised Isaiah the triage nurse. If they couldn't do the MRI then at least offer options or solutions. Not just quoting site policy or just say you can't do anything simply wasn't acceptable. There are exceptions to rules most of the time. Shocks me there were no provisions or exceptions to deal with this situation. The most unsettling fact is that my sister in law who is poor has spent $360 to seek and obtain a definitive diagnosis as to why the pain in the lower leg and foot have gotten worse. Now, more money and precious time spent in ERs will have to be expended o help resolve this medical crisis. If Lovelace wants to improve their services and personnel performing and leading the ER teams, they need to be vastly improved. Customer services including empathic, and compassionate skills need a great deal of work. We are very dissatisfied and If we have a choice will not be using this ER facility again. read more

I had a terrific experience at this place - or, at least, as good of an experience as one can have while in the throes of a medical emergency. While driving across the country for a major move, I ended up becoming painfully ill in ABQ, a town I'd never visited and where I knew no one. I was diagnosed at Albuquerque ER & Hospital with a gallstone obstructing my bile duct, and was transferred here since it had the resources to remove the stone. Coming from the first ER, which is brand-new and small, I expected that this older, bigger, busier place would be unpleasant by contrast. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every staff member with whom I interacted was upbeat, kind, and respectful. I felt like a VIP in this place, which is really impressive considering how busy it is! This place, like I said, is older. However, it is nicely maintained and the EVS staff are fantastic! I also dealt with RNs, physicians (and NPs and PAs), and CNAs in ER, med-surg, Special Procedures, GI, and OR...and transport staff too. Every single staff member I encountered treated me well. EVERYONE. This is extremely rare in a hospital, especially a busy one - extra-especially in one that's located in a major city surrounded by miles and miles of rural land with no hospitals for the people who live there. And, by the way, staff members weren't just nice - they were skilled and competent as well! I was in this hospital from 5/2-5/6/22. I'm so sorry I don't have everybody's name, so I won't name anybody. But thank you all for being AWESOME! This could have been a very upsetting time for me, but you made me feel welcome and safe. Beware! If you go to the NM Heart Institute for an outpatient visit you will also be charged a hospital fee because the building shares the property that the Heart Hospital is on. This is a fact and Just Wrong! When you sign in for your visit they will ask that you sign a document agreeing to this added fee, write "refused" on that part of the document and file a complaint. read more

Dr. Kenyon is a thorough emergency room physician. He treated my mother and found that she had end-stage cancer - something overlooked during her three week stay at Christus in Santa Fe. He communicated this upsetting news directly but with compassion. However, the case manager, Marsha Moore should reconsider her life's work. She insisted that I had to pick up my dying mother who was unable to walk & drive her home for hospice. She knew full well that I was by myself (Covid did not allow other family to be there). I told her my mother needed ambulance transportation, and she responded that I would have to have pay out-of-pocket for it & that it would be very expensive. In the end, an ambulance take my mom back home for what happened to be the last three days of her life. And, Medicare did cover the bill. This woman needs serious retraining and some intensive empathy sessions. read more

I went to the Lovelace Heart Hospital and met a Dr. Brown who was awesome until I had a rough experience with my prescription. I emailed the doctor no reply. I called the doctor no call back. I called again no reply. I cancelled all my tests and then a RN emailed me and I told here I have not heard from anyone she never replied. I suggest going somewhere else remember I am a heart patient and no call backs. That is beyond terrible and I wasted my money on the prescriptions! read more

Visited Loveless on Osuna and Jefferson for primary. Dr. Was rude and extremely stressed and agitated I was there. He asked how I Got to see Him and my regular appt was for May 15h and he couldn't understand how I was able To Book appt. Not my fault. Talk to scheduling. I asked him if I should leave? Just the most rude and uncaring Doctor I have ever met. Save your money and go elsewhere. This facility doesn't care or Know how to Treat people. He was a geriatric doctor and should have developed people skills. Never addressed me by name. When I left never said goodbye and on way out no one at desk to Give me Summary. This place is horrible. They blew two of my veins than lied about it. Said I told them to take out the iv when they never put in an iv but they used the iv needle to just draw blood so I had the plastic thing in me just to take out blood but if it's not secured in place it is not an iv. First attempt they messed up my only good vein. I told them I couldn't keep anything down for days and was extremely dehydrated they didn't listen. Second attempt was in my hand. I have tiny veins in my hand. They one again used the huge iv needle but no iv instead of a butterfly. They got their blood but I passed out and the vein blew also. Everyone my mom has gone here they blow her veins too. My body can't make red blood cells I have to go to the er to make sure I'm not to low and need a transfusion because it take forever to see a specialist in Albuquerque. They wanted to poke me again and I had a breakdown. Couldn't stop crying or hyperventilating. Told them I just want to go home. Doctor was a jerk the nurse Stephanie was really nice she was trying to let me let her poke me but the two idiots in triage ruined that. Don't let people who don't know what they are doing work at a hospital. Woke up to them shaking me telling me to wake up and asking if I could walk. My dad took me and they left him in the dark about what was going on. They made me get into a wheelchair even though I was super weak. Every other ER put in an iv and gave me fluids after the blood draw and I didn't pass out like this. I'm surprised Lovelace is still in business. I finally got to leave and passed out on my way out they traumatized me so much I tried to pushed myself through the door while still on the ground with my hands. I've been to Lovelace Hospital on several occasions, remind me not to go there again. Even though I use Lovelace, I'll never go there again. Their bulletin boards that lie and tell you there's no waiting, is a bunch of crap, there's waiting, and they will keep you out there, even if it's a heart condition. They don't care! Especially if you look under the age of 40, they will just ASSUME you are fine because you are young-looking, so nothing ever happens to younger people, right???? They will keep you out there for 3-4 hours after seeing urgent care, having tests of an EKG, being transported via ambulance with symptoms of a heart attack with bradycardia, they figure, "she looks like she's in her 30's, so she'll be okay." WOW. I am floored by the stupidity of their staff and how dismissive they are. I will NEVER EVER go back. Okay, onto a different visit with my son who got stitches. They were rough with him, were dismissive of his concerns and were not good with younger kids by any stretch of the imagination. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE - YOU ARE MUCH BETTER OFF. read more

Beware of emergency room all of their providers are through this Align md. I did not know this till I started getting bills. This in my opinion questionable Align md will send bills so unprofessional my first reaction was I was being scammed. I'm still going back and forth with Lovelace billing who refuses to let me speak with a supervisor and promised to call me back on my complaint which they did not. So beware of this emergency room I have been dealing with billing for a year. Update - unfortunately in the hospital. Can't get simple things. About two to three hours to get meds. Can't see specialist till almost two hours. Because so busy but they can stick me with roommate. Nightmare discharge all day process for a simple discharge. Told different things first my medications would be given to me upon discharge. Well, that didn't happen I gotta pick them up. Still waiting after two hours to figure out my oxygen. Went to the ER for a tooth abscess. I expected the wait to be quite long, but was out in less than two hours on Labor Day weekend. Even in my hometown of 18,000, the wait was no less than 3 hours, and the second time was almost 5. The lady at check-in, Amanda, was very professional, kind and helpful. Same goes for the triage nurse. I wish I had gotten her name, but she had long, dark hair. The ER doc, Dr. William Rowland, was friendly, quick, and gave me what I needed to stop the abscess. He even apologized for my "long" wait time, saying they had gotten a little busy. I was impressed by that. So count me among this hospital's fans, and if I ever have to go into the hospital, or back to the ER, this one will be the one I go to. read more

Waa admitted for a heart attack on Sunday morning. I would have to say that my overall treatment was good. The problem was when I was discharged I was dealing with a side effect of one of the drugs that they said should be out of my system by that night. Well it was not out of my system by that night and when I called them for help with it I was kicked to the curb and told to call my primary. It was midnight my primary wouldn't even have access to my Loveless medical records yet. I was told it was not their problem and I should go to the ER then. read more

When someone goes into a hospital they lose some privacy. The main issue was how the nursing staff talked about patients at the desk where anyone could hear. I mentioned to the head nurse on the floor and she didn't seem to care about my concern. When I reached out to the head of nursing I got the same response. I would rather go elsewhere whenever I have to go to the hospital. read more

My daughter went in for chest pain by ambulance, waited hours in waiting room, didn't see a single doctor, she was discharged and told by a staff member it wasn't an emergency and that was an emergency room and she should follow up with her doctor. If i could give the Nurse practioner a 0 I would. Her name is Kari Cremer she practices at Lovelace on Las Estancia. I have been on blood pressure meds for a while now. Especially my water pill. Im swollen she has put my life in danger. On top of that she's gaslighting shes condescending she cannot read her own computer. For she gets dates wrong. Since the fist time i seen her she tried taking my meds. There not even narcotics i would understand that. Thats not the case here. She was no bed side manners. The staff was great. Nancy and Meghan in pre op unit. Dr Andrew Metzger neuro surgeon and Nicole from Medtronics. All very professional and helpful. Why 4 stars? No coffee shop on the premises. Had to be there with a friend for 05:30 check in time. I was in dire need of coffee. Because of the latest covid rules, only 1 person could wait in the building. NO where to sit outside. No open restaurants nearby. read more

This place is my new bestie :). I'm new to the ABQ and I had a bad rash on my arm that was spreading. I received Medicare and figured it was worthless. I was so wrong! I arrived about 9 am and was told they accept "all insurance" wow impressive. I didn't have to wait long at all. Three nurses came in to check me out and I was given 2 scripts.. Went to their pharmacy and they were done in 15 minutes. Cost to me = zero I love it here. Thank you new mexico I'm a big fan :). read more

My mom just came home from this hospital today and honestly she would of been better off anywhere else. My mom has been battling a lot of health issues this year and last year she has had a colostomy bag due to internal stomach issues and the care she received at the hospital was.. to stay professional Mediocre and down right lazy. She came home unable to walk on her own her legs, chest, and stomach are currently swollen and she is going to need at home physical therapy to get her strength back just to make it to the bathroom. I am heart broken and frustrated at the "care", the most important woman in my life has received do not come to this hospital even as a last resort my mom is scared and anxious and feels like a burden on my family because nurses couldn't be bothered to help her exercise now her back is in a very painful and tense state. I was brought in early so i hadn't eaten and they had no food to give anyone... also the tv in the room didn't work and they turned on the bright light and opened my door so i couldn't get any rest. ..... I am sick and was trying to go to the doctor. I was reffered to the drive through clinic before I went into the hospital. I am currently experiencing body aches, headache, ear ache chills,sneezing, runny nose and yesterday a fever. I was told I am not a candidate for being tested. All of my symptoms came on within 4 hours. He made it seem like I was a hypochondriac and I was wasting his time. I felt that though I was wasting my time. I will not be using lovelace in the future. Unbelievably toxic work environment leads to poor staffing, which then leads to incredibly poor patient outcomes. Their downtown facility has been reported through the state's Safe Harbor laws multiple times because overtaxed nurses are risks to their patients - a nurse can only keep track of so many patients at once. I wouldn't bring my dog here for care, much less my mother. It's much better to visit Pres or UNMH if your insurance will allow it. read more
