TL;DR -- The staff was rude and incompetent; the doctor was arrogant, rude, and also incompetent…read more(and honestly, an idiot: see the last bullet point). These people are supposed to be in healthcare -- they should be caring. No wonder this place is going under. if I could give -20 stars I would. let me give the detailed run down of my experience: -I went in with a medical issue that seemed like it could be something neurological , maybe a stroke, brain tumor, or some kind of nerve inflammation. I was having balance issues ( a symptom) , I had to be wheeled in the room and a nurse came in to hook me up to the IV, take my temperature, and all that. She was really rude! I tried to some light conversation, crack a few jokes, but they mostly ignored me.Every nurse provided "care" were super rude and neglectful!. Once, I had to use the restroom, so I asked for assitance since I was Hooked to an IV and was still having blanace issues and no one came for about 10 min. We had to ask TWICE! Another time, my husband was watching a TikTok video (Steveioe), but it sounded like it was coming from the next room so I joked and asked if it was actually Steve next door (I thought that'd be kind of cool) and the nurse replied, "NOW you're hallucinating?" I couldn't tell if it was sarcasm. These people can't take a joke! and definitely weren't taking my problems seriously. She sounded like she was accusing me of making up my symptoms. The first time I saw the doctor (she was skinny, had glasses, and brown hair slicked back in a bun), they wouldn't tell me her name. She talked down to me, and when I explained my symptoms, she acted like I was making them up. She was really condescending. I suddenly started to spasm. It was new, so I was a little worried. The nurses completely ignored it until I finally asked if there was anything they could give me to help. They gave me a low dose of Valium, but again, they acted like I was there because of a drug problem. I only asked because it helped calm my leg spasm. I figured they'd give me a muscle relaxer or something. They did a CT scan and an MRI on my brain (both came back clean, so at least there was some good news there!) But since I was still having symptoms, I was waiting for the doctor (same one) to either run more tests, refer me to a specialist, prescribe something, or at least give me some advice or a referral to someone who could help. The issue could have been my nerves?? She didn't do ANY of that. Instead, she suggested... Ibuprofen. IBUPROFEN. Like, what?! When I called her out on it (okay, I admit my tone wasn't great, but I didn't curse her out or anything), she got mad and just walked away while I was trying to talk to her about MY HEALTH. This was the worst experience I have ever had in ANY PLACE. IBUPROFEN?!?! WHICH MEDICAL SCHOOL ALLOWED YOU TO GET A LICENSE ARE THEY THAT DESPERATE??!!

Came in today after falling down some stairs pregnant. All of the nurses and other staff members…read morethat were taking care of me were so sweet and understanding. There was one lady sitting at the desk in the back that just had a terrible attitude toward me and just seemed like she really hated her job. It takes one bad apple to ruin someone's experience in an already tough situation. There was no reason for sarcasm or attitude.

Please do not go here unless you have to. My Dad had been fighting cancer. We came one morning to…read morepick him up thinking that we were going to start treating again. We walked in to him hopped up on pain meds because they just game him the "button" the moment he came in. They never planned to treat him and they never said any of that to him or us until the day we were supposed to bring him home. We showed up and he said we missed a show because he said he fell to the ground and he said the nurse Ernie put weight on his back and prevented him from getting up. Then we saw that my Dad had a DNR bracelet on. This wasn't there. Then palliative came. My Dad said he felt like there was no other option than to accept palliative. They didn't do it when my Mom or I were there. They did it with my Dad, alone on push button meds "for comfort." They made him feel like palliative was the only choice. They made him feel like there was no hope left. They never once spoke to any of us about this. Not to mention my Dad had an ostomy bag. And told them he didn't feel comfortable going home in the car, that he needed an ambulance. We got home with the ambulance that day and they had no parts for his ostomy bag. They had to take him to MCR. After being driven home, he had to leave again to MCR. THEN the emts nearly dropped him. In the process ripped the tube out of his ostomy bag. Didn't have ANY PARTS to fix it. Did a Jerry rig and much later ended up leaking. Fixed with electrical tape by US. And asking for a replacement that never came. I asked the EMT and they said they couldn't help. I hate this hospital and I wish we never allowed him to come here.

Before we even arrived at this facility staff reached out to us, administration returned calls and accommodated special requests. Everything about this facility screams WE CARE. The staff- from nurses, aids, doctors , dietitian, physical and occupational therapy to lunch room helpers were all genuinely helpful, kind and quick to respond. it is obvious the building maintenance staff take pride in their work. everything from floors and coffee pots to patient rooms was clean and in working order. we broke a blind in our room and maintenance fixed it the same day, they inquired if there was anything else at all that needed attention. Just one last shout out to the nursing assistants who smiled, visited and laughed with us every time they entered the room- even through bouts of very frequent diarrhea. Not once did we feel like a burden to staff and anyone who has needed long term cares knows what a HUGE difference that makes in your day.

My wife had cancer care at LUH. Regarding her medical care and treatment, we could not ask for…read morebetter. The doctors and staff were very caring and professional, both to my wife, the patient, and me as the concerned family member. Treatment from the billing department since then has been an entirely different story. Our insurance covered all but $3000 of her surgery and treatments. I found a billing issue that would have allowed the insurance company to pay a larger percentage of the fee. I called several times, including a conference call with the hospital billing department and the insurance company, all to no avail. The insurance company told them they would increase their portion of the payment if they would bill correctly , but they still refused. Finally I had to appeal to the head of the cancer care unit, and the billing department changed the bill to reflect the actual services on the actual dates. Since then, I have paid our bill down by almost 50%, never missing one month of payments. Last month, however, we could only pay $75, instead of the $200 I had been paying. I called last month when I made the payment, and told them our exact circumstances, and was told this would be OK. This month, we have already received 5-6 calls, some of them threatening in nature. I have been handling all the bills, yet they called my wife, threatening to send us to collections, if we didn't immediately pay our "past due' bill. There is no past due bill, we have paid them every month. They claim we are on a payment plan, yet we never signed up for a payment plan, nor have they sent us terms and conditions for a plan. They are acting like loan sharks, and we are some kind of deadbeats, but we've already paid them almost half our balance. I have personally called several times and asked for the calls to stop, at least to my wife, but they have refused. I have sent an email to no avail and am now resorting to the Better Business Bureau. The excellent care provided by the trained medical staff worked wonders, I am doing my best to nurse my wife back to health, the billing department is doing their best to undo all of our good work. If you use them, make sure you don't have to deal with their billing department.
