I have a confession--it has taken me 25 years to work up the guts to go for my first "well woman"…read moreexam. I know, I know. Bad Kim. I just figured everything's working just great and made every excuse in the book to avoid the poking, prodding, and general naked humilation I had heard about from numerous women. Well, something clicked one day and I decided to see if I could find an "alternative" to the paper gown, spread-eagle stirrups, and cold instrument-style exam that gave me such anxiety. As luck would have it, I found Beth's practice is only a few minutes from me and does well-woman exams (the whole female shebang as well as blood work and urinalysis) in the comfort of her home office. Woo! And let me just say, since then, I have told anyone who will listen about how amazing my exam was. Ladies--ever raved about a pap test? Want to? Call Beth! Not only did Beth and her assistant spend more than an hour just talking with me about health history, making me feel more relaxed, and discussing everything from nutrition and supplements to screening tests and abdomenal massage, but they also took the time to explain the ins and outs of instruments and the procedure itself. She catered the appointment and screening tests to my individual needs, and I never felt rushed, diseased, or generally weird. She was so complimentary and comforting and said everything about me (my heart rhythm, weight, urine, cervix, everything) was "beautiful and healthy". Yeah, when was the last time someone called your urine beautiful? Never? Yeah, Beth rocks. I have never been around more respectful, encouraging, and thoughtful care providers. If it wouldn't make me a total freak to go there every week, I would because it was that awesome. Not only were there no paper gowns (or gowns at all--yay clothes!), but the instruments were warmed and used gently, and I got to lay on an actual bed sans humiliating stirrups. Seriously. To top it off, I expressed my love for kale and what did her assistant pull out? An "I Love Kale" sticker! Like a grown-up veggie nerd gold star. If you're putting off an appointment because you've had a bad experience or you're afraid of having a bad experience, consider calling Beth (or finding a midwife in your area and using her services). If your appointment is half as good as mine was, you'll still be thrilled and bragging to your friends.

I was told by several staff members that a referral from my doctor should allow me to be seen. However, my referrals were repeatedly denied, and I was ultimately told they do not accept Medicaid patients--something that directly contradicts what I had been told earlier. This lack of consistency and transparency has made an already stressful situation even more difficult. At a time when I urgently need care, I feel dismissed and unsupported. It is deeply frustrating to feel like access to care is being determined arbitrarily, rather than based on patient need. No one should have to fight this hard just to be seen--especially for essential women's health services. I hope the clinic reevaluates how they communicate policies and handle patients in vulnerable situations. Access to care should not feel this inaccessible.

I went in for an ultrasound around 7 weeks and I was told I had a miscarriage and was misdiagnosed with a blighted ovum by Angela. She prescribed me an abortion pill to clear my uterus of the "non-viable" tissue. She encouraged me to take it the next day without having had any blood work done or follow up bloodwork and ultrasounds which I have learned is standard before prescribing the pill and making an official diagnosis. Luckily I did not take the pill and for the first time in my life got a second opinion at bch the next week. They found my baby clear as day with a healthy heartbeat. For an entire week I was in mourning as was my fiance. We told everyone we had a miscarriage and it was hard to go back and tell them we had not. During the ultrasound Angela was very unprofessional as were the rest of the staff involved. It was transvaginal and the exam room led into the waiting room.. people kept coming into the room without knocking and asking to use the ultrasound machine while the midwife was in the middle of diagnosing us with a miscarriage. It felt very rushed and our midwife even took a personal phone call in the middle of all of this. I am now 4 months into a perfectly healthy pregnancy and I wonder how many people have been misdiagnosed here and did not get a second opinion. Their negligence very nearly killed my daughter.

My husband tells all the soon to be dads he knows about how wonderful it was for him as well feeling included and not a bystander in the birth of his child. They are competent, compassionate and I never feel like I'm being rushed out or pushed to finish our appointments before all my questions are answered. Definitely recommend this wonderful place to everyone.

For some odd reason they marked my appointment as a new patient appointment. "Let me go check with the back if we can still see you" she says as she walks back to all her co workers standing, laughing, drinking coffee in a little group pow wow. She comes back moments later, "No we can't see you today we have to reschedule." Fine, I ask when is your next appointment. She tries to schedule me a month out. Very unprofessional, this center did not want to help me or offer a solution for being 20 min late to an appointment that they told me started 10 minutes later. She is extremely knowledgeable on the biological and physiological levels as well as able to meet a pregnant woman on the spirit and emotional levels. To me this was imperative for me to feel held, cared for, and met through the comprehensive transformation that occurs during pregnancy. She is incredibly empowering to the woman, guiding and supporting her to follow her intuition and instinct. I loved that she often wouldn't tell me what choices to make but would share the relevant information while supporting me to trust my inherent wisdom. She deeply recognizes each woman's journey of becoming a mama is unique and there is not a one size fits all to decisions. She has the capacity to be with any emotions, fears or concerns that may arise as well as connecting with the baby on an energetic and heart level too. I felt so solid with Astrid's care knowing that she'd be able to be with anything that might arise during the journey and during the birth. She is also an incredible herbalist and I love the ways she supports through her wisdom in that arena too, as well as with Mayan abdominal massage. Astrid is deeply wise, incredibly smart and knowledgeable, emotionally intelligent and a heart centered mystic. Her dedication to supporting women to feel empowered in their birth experience emanates through her devoted care. I truly couldn't imagine a more aligned midwife for me.

My first two were delivered at a birth center near Denver, which we loved. However, after our experience with Seasons we found that it was an even better experience. The front desk staff has always been so welcoming in person and on the phone. Each of the midwives is not only highly skilled, but they are so wonderful when I come in with my two other kiddos (at the time 2 and 4 years old). They allow them to help with the doppler ultrasound, blood pressure, etc. As a parent, this is so wonderful, especially because they would look forward to the baby appointments so they could help and it made them even more excited for their baby! Each session I felt like I had so much time with the midwives to ask whatever questions I wanted and even though this was my third baby, I had a lot of extra curiosity questions due to my line of work. My birth could not have been more peaceful and calming due to my birth team. I not only had my husband and my doula, who they welcomed with open arms, but I had our amazing midwife Aubre (who delivered our first baby at the other birth center), a student midwife, and a wonderful nurse. The entire team made me feel so supported, empowered, and confident. The room felt so comforting by its design, it's warmth, and perfect lighting that together made for me to feel so comfortable. I had made birth plans and goals with my birth team, which my main one was to prevent tearing if possible. I had tearing with my first two births and made a plan with my midwives and doula as to my birthing position and warm compress to help reduce my risk of tearing this time around. Aubre did a great job of supporting my perineum with warm compress and reminding me of the birthing position and I didn't tear this time, which was a game changer in my healing. The team took my vitals and checked baby's heart rate when necessary and only checked my cervix once to see where I was at, but only after I was completely settled into the room. After the birth, I felt like a queen! The team at Seasons took such good care of me! The nurse checked in on us, but left us to sleep and bond. She kept bringing us food and set me up with a wonderful bath (set me up with shampoo, sope, robe... the works). My postpartum hours spent at Seasons I will remember forever. I felt so supported and cared for. My baby was cuddling on my husband's chest, the light was dim, I had a full stomach and I was relaxing in a warm bath reflecting on my amazing birth. If you are considering a birth center, this is the place to be. The entire team from the front desk to the midwives to the nurses and the facility itself are the best around. Being in the birth world, I know a lot about the hospitals and other birth centers and this one is absolutely the best. I look forward to watching their continued growth and support in the community! Thank you Seasons and my birth team for the amazing birth you helped me achieve!
