I get why people posted them, although they may have had no experience with the farmers, these are farmers, who own and operate Red Chair. The nutshell is this. Red Chair is in Eagle, a relatively small community and the one I live in too, and they hold an annual Lavender Festival just after July 4th every year. This year it was advertised that Old State Saloon would be a part of it, apparently as a vendor for food and drink. Old State is a watering hole in downtown Eagle and the owner has made no bones about his anti-gay and hard right wing perspectives, MAGA hats abound and he has hosted things like the "Hetero" event in downtown Boise last week. Thankfully almost no one showed up there, but let me tell ya', in Eagle people go to his Old State location. I was in there when they first opened, not knowing at that time the owner's orientation, but it was plenty clear pretty fast and I do not support them nor do business with any entity that is in league with them. We consumers vote our values with our wallets. When people found out Old State was involved with the lavender festival at Red Chair, the lambasting of Red Chair started. But Red Chair has cut ties with Old State to do the food and beverage service after the Old State owner's bigoted, homophobic remarks were published in connection with press coverage of the recent downtown Boise event. If you take the time to read the news article here, you'll see this farmer / owners was sort of unaware of the depth of the Old State owner's issues and was just happy someone was willing to help out providing food and beverage vending at the lavender festival. You can also ride out to the pumpkin patch in a tractor pulled wagon, where you can pick out your very own pumpkin (pumpkins do cost extra). There is less for teens and adults unless you pay extra fees. But you can take advantage of the large slides, zip lines & large maze at no cost. I personally thought the cost was a bit high at $14 for 3 yrs - adult. But I do realize that a lot of of time and man power go into setting it all up, and then manning various sites.

The blueberries were sweet and delicious. Grandma Jo taught us to pick the dark blue/deep purple berries and to avoid the reddish ones that were not yet ripe. She provided buckets for us to use, and when we were done, she weighed our take and charged by the pound. When we got home we ate them fresh, and an uncle made some blueberry jam for later. So good! Grandma Jo was a delight, and the service was great. Prices were lower than other farms in the area. She also had Bing cherries, rainier cherries, and pears, though the pears weren't ready yet. Apricots were on their way too. I'd love to visit Grandma Jo's again the next time I'm in the Boise area.

Opened in 2017, this blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, and elderberry farm is a slice of heaven or nirvana in Eagle. Jay and his wife started this as a passion project after retiring and using his engineering precision, he's created quite possibly the most precise and yet beautiful farm I've ever been to. Yes, Waterwheel Gardens and Peaceful Belly are gorgeous but there's something quiet, still, and somehow crazily clean on this blueberry farm. It's a relaxing way to pick high quality berries (much better than The Berry Farm) and way cleaner. You go to their family home, park your car, and they have sanitized buckets and plastic bags. They also use no sprays so you can literally eat the fruit off their bushes. I see families, restaurant owners, trad wives, little kids, and babies pick and eat the berries. No entrance fee, no parking fee. Just pay for what you pick and I still have no idea how they charge LESS money per pound than the Meridian Costco. Come support local, take some curated pictures, and enjoy this place. FYI: the earlier in the season is better. Watch for their open days and times on Facebook because it's heavily weather dependent. Thursdays tend to be better picking days as the berries have just replenished vs Saturdays. Prices are listed on their FB and they are very responsive to messaging.

Blue Sky Flower Farm is one of those places that makes you stop and think, "Okay... this is why…read morepeople love living here." It's a beautiful mother-daughter-run flower farm with the most peaceful property and absolutely gorgeous seasonal blooms. Because it's a real working flower farm, they only open when the flowers are ready -- usually late summer into early fall -- which honestly makes it feel even more special. The whole experience is simple in the best way: Grab a mason jar, wander the rows, snip flowers, and make a bouquet for someone you love (or yourself). It feels straight out of a movie. If you're a content creator, photographer, book club organizer, or just looking for a peaceful place to gather with girlfriends, this is SUCH a beautiful spot to spend an evening surrounded by flowers and Idaho farmland. One thing to know is that opening dates can shift depending on weather and bloom timing, so definitely follow their Instagram for updates. They'll often put tables out and create little gathering spaces where you can just sit and enjoy the farm. And honestly, the trust-based setup is part of what makes it charming. Just don't be the person who takes advantage of that kindness by not paying for flowers. They also have a small shop with local products and gifts, which makes it easy to leave with "just one more thing." One of my favorite memories after moving here was volunteering with them to help plant seeds. There's something really special about seeing a local family create something this beautiful and inviting for the community.

The first thing you notice when you walk in it's a ginormous Monstera(?) surrounded by a wide array of different types of plants. I was so entranced by the massive selection I completely forgot to take any pictures of the interior or exterior of the store. The prices are very comparable to other local houseplant shops in Boise. The quality will be considerably better than those at big box stores. The woman who runs the store is one of the most delightful and informative hosts I've ever met in a plant store. She was super patience while I tossed question after question about takinf care of my newly acquired absolutely gorgeous Ponytail Plant ($35.00). (take a look at the picture and you'll see what I mean). I can't wait to go back very soon for more!
