All of the "not recommended" reviews are entirely true. Staff is BEYOND rude and have horrendous customer service skills. The articles of clothing which they would not accept due to the "poor condition" was quite ironic considering the array of dirty, damaged, non-brand items in the store. I came in with lightly worn, all designer items (J.Crew, Michael Kors, Lululemon, Diane VonFurstenberg, among others) and rarely had items accepted. Despite this fact, whenever I brought clothing in, they sold almost instantly. Absolutely nonsensical reasons to not take clothing, such as the smallest thread being loose. However, I understand how consigning works and that not everything can always be accepted due to the nature of the business. That's not the point of this review, the snotty attitudes of the employees would make me avoid this place like the plague regardless! read more

The place is a pig sty, all crammed and crowded. Then.... They lose your stuff and say, "Read your agreement! We're not responsible for lost items." So basically, you put your belongings in their care and when they can't keep track of it and it disappears in their mess, they say you're out of luck. read more

I notice with every negative review you have on here it's never your fault and you always love to blame the customer. You also like to throw out there how you have been in business 18 years. I think your nasty attitude speaks for itself. Post the screenshots I want you too. Then I will post my screenshots of our conversation and the pic of your used nasty lipstick that you're selling and how even you offered to replace it and never did. You can combine shipping you just want an excuse to charge $5 and 50 cents per item to ship everything so you are making bank on shipping along. Pretending to not know how to combine orders on PayPal is not saving your customers money. If someone buys $10 worth of your junk at $1 each it will be at least $9.50 to ship by your so-called rules. Tell me in what reality that is saving the customers money or giving them a bargain? You're just a scam business owner who's had a lot of complaints with a gross attitude. Nothing is ever your fault. Those so-called 18 years don't mean anything if you treat your customers like trash. Oh and by the way, what you are conveniently leaving off here is you tried to say you didn't know how to ship your things a cheaper way. I mentioned pirate ship to you who has an excellent reputation and you went ballistic saying you didn't have time to do that. So the real truth is you don't have time to seek cheaper shipping options because you want to make money off shipping. Was a lot of fun to look around and they had a lot of leather and suede at really good prices. Personally, if I could not wash it first, I would not wear it. Lovely Ladies Consignment Shop - Thrift Stores Near Me - Middletown, New York

I am a regular consigner here and was appalled by the treatment of her staff today. I dropped off items at 3:30 (they don't close until 5 pm). Everything was on hangers the way they require. The woman working the desk (she is always here) made comments about how busy she was and kept rolling her eyes and looking at the clock. As soon as I walked away, she started loudly talking to her colleague about all "these people" who come in with clothes and make her have to work. She then said "I don't understand why these people are here and not out at a barbecue. It's so sad". I'm sorry, but I am brining my clothes here to make both myself AND THE STORE money. I will never come back here again and would warn anyone else who wants to drop off clothes to stay away. It's not worth the abuse by the staff. read more

The shop is very organized and you can easily find great deals on new and used clothing. A few cons.. when you sell and have money in your account you are encouraged to "look around" and spend your earnings. Otherwise you'll stand there uncomfortably until someone has time to attend to you, makes you feel like your asking for a favor to get your own money. Some of the newer staff are quite rude but some of the older staff is not up to date with the tends and what would sell. Some clothing is refused for too much wear only to see clothes on the racks that are even more worn. I would say best deals are in the purses, worst deals and selection are the jeans. read more

My stuff I consigned never got put out I am assuming. I only got paid for one item, though I admit I was a couple days past my expiration date. Even so, nothing was there even though they said I could take back what I could find myself. There was nothing, plus there was not much of anyone's there. There should have been plenty of fall items, but there were just old plain t shirts and clothing that looked like it had been there awhile so I knew. Also, was not too much Jewelry there when I dropped all mine off so I thought it would do well, but when I went there was so much I could never even pick it out. They literally had dropped the ball, would not rectify anything either. Their excuse was well they do online too. That's not what I was told. Not getting money for things that never got put out, can't find them to even take them back....that's theft in my opinion. One good thing I had brought sold immediately so I knew she bought it cheap to resell. I've been selling for years, know the business, I will never drop anything off there ever again. My jewelry never sold either. The only thing I ever got paid for was the one item that sold right away. I never got any of my clothing back either. My messages to her were less than helpful. The place is large. I brought items to sell. The woman gave me a contract to read and sign. You dont get a copy so memorize it. They took my email and could have sent a copy of the contract. At the end of the term I came and was sent to pick the remaining item from the rack. I have no idea what the items sold for or were originally priced at so you just have to take their word for it that you're getting 50%. I wont be going back read more

I'm a regular consigner there and the staff treated me horribly last week (Oct. 15th) while the owner was out for lunch. Just terrible. I went in there (well prepared with a nice assortment of everything) and her staff said "no pants, jeans, shoes, winter coats" so I'm like "well, what the heck do you take?". SO, I cashed out and left. When I met the owner on my way to the car she said "yes, that's right. That's what I told them - we're full to the brim". Seriously? It takes HOURS to organize the items, pack them then hike them upstairs to the 2nd floor. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a sign on her FB page or her door that said "not accepting new items for consignment at this time". Unreal. I'LL NEVER GO BACK. As a consigner or a client. I used to love this store. So sad how the owner simply mistreats her customers. I still think she has nice things but unless you want to abused as a shopper and treated with no respect, I don't recommend you shop there. I have brought clothes here for consignment before and have shopped here as well. The owner and most of the staff is very nice and pleasant to deal with. That being said I called and was told I could bring my clothes in which I did all on hangers, etc. I had not dealt with the woman at the counter before, but being that I have had good experiences before I thought I was good. But, no, this woman who is older with short blond hair and glasses was rude as could be! First the clothes were not hung in the proper direction for her, at least 10 times she stated about how crowded the store was (at most there were about 10 people total in the store it was a Friday afternoon) after she was done with the clothes I brought in she called me over or I should say BELLOWED loudly and was very pissy that I did not jump when she said how high! I was in the back of the store. She complained about how she does not have the time for this (um isn't she paid to be there?) when she was done I went to the hanger rack to switch out my hangers for the ones the store provides. I was made aware of these hanger by the owner from my last trip. I started to switch them out as I still need hangers at home when this woman started telling me I can't do that. I said I need my hangers so I am switching them out. The clothes would be hung just on their hangers. She was incredible rude, nasty, loud obnoxious etc. if I was already done I would have told her to get lost! I can't wait to collect my money at the end of my consignment time then I will never consign or shop there again! So RUDE! Oh btw they have tons of hanger in plastic containers on the top of the racks of clothes! read more

Such an awesome place. There isn't really a men's section, but there are some men's jackets and such. Can vary in price from $0.10 skirts to $60.00 jackets, but there's always something cool to find at typically great prices. A lot of nice women's heels for great prices. Wednesdays I believe everything is half off. This consignment shop has a great selection of costume jewelery and is located right next to mix n mac which is a great place to stop for lunch after a day of thrifting. read more

After several phone contacts due to my first consignment experience I proceeded with my items to the shop. Not only was I given an attitude for not having my clothes on hangers but I was given a list of instructions on how to hang my clothes along with a list of can and cannot take items. When I asked the elder person why didn't you tell me they had to be hung when I spoke to you 10 minutes ago her response was "because you didn't ask " . Then I was told after looking at my first item of a designer blazer worn ONCE that due to a piece of lint that it was unacceptable. So off I left with 3 full bags of designer clothes, shoes and handbags w a majority still with tags and donated them to big brothers & big sisters . Nasty miserable people with major attitudes that feel they're doing you a tremendous favor. Plus store was filthy. read more

Customers are ignored from the minute they walk into this store. The older women behind the counter are rude and most often belittle you for the items you're bringing in to resell. I can validate other reviewers that you don't receive anything in writing for how much items are being sold for- which is not right. If you have something high end, don't bring it here. Great place for clothes. Nicole is always so nice and accommodating. She knows her inventory. When I walk in I tell her what I need and she knows exactly where everything is in that humongous store. And it is always neatly organized when I go in and just want to shop. I also consigned a bunch of stuff and it is really easy. You can find almost everything you need for a fraction of the price. It has been some time since I consigned with this store, and now I know why. I thought I would give the shop another try, and brought in quite a few high end items. Jones New York, Eileen Fisher, Lord & Taylor, to name a few. With the excellent condition and names on the items, one would expect to receive a decent return. Needless to say, all of my high end items sold, and I received a little over $35. for all. I feel abused and shocked that someone had the nerve to charge less than what the Salvation Army would charge! When I asked the owner why the items sold for so little, she said that she sells everything for really cheap and her competition is the S. Army across the street! Um mm, last time I checked there is a BIG difference between charity and consignment! I will not be doing any business with this store again, and I strongly advise any consignors with high end items to look at other stores to sell in. I also have no idea what my items sold for except my $230 black velvet dress that they sold for $14! read more
