Now ive done a bit of traveling and sometimes a place that looks great can be kinda gimmicky, so this was my fear with this location, BUT now that I have been I can promise Mystery Spot was easily my favorite part of our trip. The owner was there, she was funny and kind and very knowledgeable! Another highlight was a shock, the layout! it was so easy to walk through and get lost in each room, everything was organized and easy to look through. I can't say enough how much that helped, I hate feeling like a bull in a china shop so feeling comfortable walking around was a big factor for me. My partner and I purchased our first antique and have our eye on our next purchase here, giving us an excuse to come back to the beautiful little paradise that is Phoenicia. Thank you Mystery Spot! Behind the glass, faded photos of dead and forgotten strangers stared back at me like ghosts waiting for a train that's never coming. I was inside just the last week, they had lots of cool vintage stuff. ​On the porch sat a wooden crate full of old vinyl records labeled "YARD SALE IN A BOX. $1 AN ITEM." A Camelot soundtrack album was sticking out, warped slightly by the sun. Over head hung a red upside-down sign that read "MYSTERY SPOT," right next to cheap plastic slogans about Cypress Gardens and Clutter World. My big, lean hound stood on the porch planks, sniffing around the wood like he was trying to catch the scent of a better decade, or just trying to get inside. ​It's the kind of joint that hoards the cool junk of a thousand lives vintage clothes, oddities, records, etcetera. Its the kind of place where they don't care if you buy anything, or just browse and they probably don't care if you leave. My dog didn't bark, the door didn't open, and the sun just kept beating down on the boardwalk planks, so we just sat for a bit and split a sandwich.

I'm a huge trinket antiquer so I loved how each of the shelves were all filled with correlating items - like there was a shelf of just Disney stuff, things were separated by different kinds of animals, the Jesus memorabilia, glassware, and loads of MCM!! There was a really nice selection of vintage clothing here too! Gorgeous bold dresses of an old era. Prices were fantastic as well; usually a lot of shops try to upsell you on things that are otherwise relatively common to come across if you're looking in the right places. But here, the cost was reasonable. I would've bought out the whole shop if we didn't have to have car space driving back to Buffalo! If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely find a reason to make a pit stop here!

If not, the pictures on the website are completely accurate. I am getting compliments on the dining table already. The owners are both charming and serious about their business. I thought the pricing was fair, and the in-house delivery service - Steve, the owner, and a truck- worked well. My comments are about the mid-century modern furniture business, not their other product lines. But I bet they do that well also.

I bought a teak dresser from Steve last month, and I've been very pleased with it. He refinished it and delivered on time, within just a few days of purchase. If you don't find anything you currently like, just wait - it seems like they are always getting new pieces in.

I have a wide…read morearray of antiques living in an older Victorian home, and always love to pop into spots to see what I can add to my collections. This particular spot had a wide variety of items. I found many items I was interested in, and then I came across a Steiff Hand puppet hedgehog. It was not in the best condition, but once I saw it, I could not get it out of my head. By far the cutest little find to add to my Steiff collection! I can't wait to go back and see what new finds they may have!
