I was confused about which color I had chosen (my fault), and there was clearly some annoyance on the part of the staff that I asked a question about it. They also reused items (nail files, buffers, etc.) which I did not love. The nail technicians little plastic box had various tools and instruments all thrown in together. I got a deluxe manicure, and it included a desultory massage I could have just as easily done myself. Finally, the attitude of the staff did not put me at ease. On the other side of the salon, where there were no customers, it sounded like there was a party going on, but it was just staff members. I was not impressed, and particularly not for the price.

They are kind and take their time with each customer and don't make you feel super rushed like a lot of nail salons can do. My gel manicure lasted 2 days before I had to return for a repair, was walking in the door to my house from the salon and broke 2 more nails. 5 days later, my nails started to peel. I used gloves when mowing the lawn, I used gloves when doing the dishes and used gloves when doing any sort of manual labor, so it was not that I wasn't taking care of them. A week after I went in for the repair, every one of my nails had popped off cleanly. It's too expensive of a service to only last 2 days.

From the start, she was sweet and easy to like, though I'll admit I used to inspect my nails closely after each visit, looking for imperfections. A year later, my nails are healthier than ever, and those worries are long gone. I don't even stress about choosing a color anymore. Amy knows me well enough to guide me or pick something perfect when I can't decide. I've truly had the best manicures of my life this past year, all from this little shop. Amy is clearly loved and valued in the community. Many of her clients are locals, and even their husbands sometimes stop in for a pedicure! While a bit of patience is occasionally required since she's the sole manicurist, she is absolutely worth the wait. You won't be disappointed. No callus reduction, no skin exfoliation, no real attempt to soften or moisturize the skin. For $50? So sad this is what it came to as I was hoping I could find a place to go near my office but that is NOT happening. I would and will advise to not go here. There are much better places here in Bellingham that offer a much better product for the money. As I sit here I keep wondering, did they think they game me a good service? Did they just think I was a dumb dude who doesn't know better? Why did she not do what I asked her when I asked if she was going to flatten the ridges on my nails with a dremel like she did with the woman next to me, or why did she not reduce any of my calluses? Visited the new location on Girard Street for a dip manicure. Appointment was at 5pm, I wasn't seen…read moreuntil 5:15. They serve lumpia & fruit while you wait, which is unusual but welcomed! Tina did my nails. The nail polish removal process was a little heavy handed, and I felt the drill burn/heat a few times. No cuticle care/cleaning was done. Tina informed me the dip powder example nails weren't made yet, so I would have to choose my color from a big box of new dip powder tubs. I sat on the ground and picked through colors until I found a purple powder that looked bright, almost neon. After she put on a coat or two, I noticed it was looking extremely dark. I mentioned it, asking if it would lighten, and she gave an uncertain response and kept painting. I'll admit I should have pushed back at this point, but I assumed as the nail technician, she should be familiar with her materials & be able to advise me on color. She said even if it turned out darker than I wanted, she could fix it with a gel top coat. We continued and it became clear it was NOT the color I selected. It was more than several shades darker, practically wine colored - something I would have had no way of knowing from the powder color itself. However, I'd been there an hour already and wasn't interested in staying longer, and she wasn't offering to fix or adjust the color in any way, so I ended up having to keep it. In the end, a gel top coat wasn't an option since it would just look muddy on top of an already dark color. The manicure itself was fairly average (no nail thickness shaping or cuticle care, and sloppy edges) & reasonable for the price I paid ($40 after a 20% off promotion during their first week at the new location). I would have given a 3/3.5 star review, but the mishap with the color really frustrated me. Update: 4 days in and I have a chip on two nails.
