This was my first time coming in. The technician was friendly at first, but when she struggled to get the shape I wanted she started to get annoyed and when I asked her to fix one or two nails cause the nails were not filed evenly she mumbled something to the other technician- probably said that I'm picky, and I am SO not picky, anyone could see that she filed them unevenly, I even pointed at the nails on their board to the shape I want, and she still messed up. The name for the shape I wanted was- squoval, which is straight on the sides and soft oval tips. It's a simple shape, really. Another thing I didn't appreciate is that they never mention about a massage at the end of service- on your hands, arms, shoulders and back, which is not included in the price, its addition $10 which is not mentioned anywhere on their website either, although I did enjoy the massage but I would've appreciated a little warning in advance, I came in on a budget and left with $10 short. Not sure if I want to come back... I don't like when businesses trick people like that or have hidden services that are not brought up in advance ... (Nina, thank you for the reply, I appreciate it! Wow. Can't understand even 4 stars on this place. Been twice, these people could care less about quality. Upselling starts immediately, (what kind of pedi even tho you made an appointment, paraffin wax, massage) if you ask for a specific person, it is ignored. Quality of the nail paint is hideous. Painting the cuticle is basic 101 no-no. My opinion is they think they are providing a premium service by offering water and massaging scrub until your skin is raw. If I have one more pedi in Bellingham where the person is looking off into the distance while not paying attention to their work I'm giving up on having them! This is not worth the hype. read more

I'm really disappointed. I'd heard good things about Nina's and went there for nails before my wedding. I went in on a Tuesday, my wedding is for Friday. I hadn't gotten gel before but everyone told me to get it because of how long they'll last. However, later that night I see that my right thumb polish is peeling off. And in the morning my right middle finger polish is almost all gone. I really enjoyed my experience there but I paid a lot of money for nails for my wedding and now I have to find time to get a whole new manicure. read more

Worst, and most expensive ever. $80 Bella did my nails. She was in such a hurry, she didn't make them the same shape, or leave them under the lamp long enough to cure. One nail ended up with no acrylic on the top half. When she was all done, and I got to my car, the polish started smearing all over everything. I went back in, and she redid them, but made me choose a different color that doesn't require as much time under the lamp. Then I had to go back the next day to have the one with no acrylic redone, because the polish peeled off, and then the nail crumbled down, and I had to file it down to keep it from catching on everything. She didn't add acrylic to make the one as long as the others, she just repainted it. I did meet another customer who was fun, but that had nothing to do with Bella. I won't be back. read more

Okay so I made an appointment with them after I came in a few days early and they were busy and they told me to best make an appointment online. Apparently it doesn't matter about the appointment outside that you made one, because today they didn't even know that I made one and for what nail treatment. I made an appointment for a callus treatment with polish and a 20 minute neck massage. I had a gift certificate that I thought would cover both treatments. When I came in every stations had a client in it. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I was directed to a chair. I sat there another 15 minutes with my feet being soaked until my nail tech was done with her other client next to me. When I came in and told them I had an appointment for a callus treatment and a massage afterwards. I even show and point them on my brochure. Apparently none of that translated and I got their deluxe pedicure. I came to that realization while I was sitting in the chair waiting after she was done. Before I could speak up and ask, she was done and had moved into the next client. Okay, first there's definitely a language barrier at this salon with one person who spoke English(I think the owner Nina) and the others limited. I even spoke with my nail technician and either she was pretending to understand me or she did and was ignoring what I was trying to tell her. Either that or she can't read their own brochure written in English. Anyway I ended up paying an additional $15 for my treatment after my $50 gift certificate. I was happy with my stylist but she did leave me for like 20-30 minutes assisting with another client. I sat there not sure if I was done or not. When she was done with her other client, she brought me to a chair to do a 5 minute massage and I was done. Not sure who's at fault with this, the owner who did not provide her employee clear directions, myself for not questioning when my stylist was working on my feet, or the stylist for leaving me for over 30 minutes. I understand that my nails had to dry but I was never told anything. I just sat there waiting for "what's next." I thought I was waiting for my 20 minute massage that I had told them and booked online. If I was done, I would have skipped the 5 minute massage and gone on with my day. If you go there make sure you get a clear idea of what you are paying because you might up paying for services you did not want or requested. It's an awkward situation you don't want to be in standing there while other clients are watching you tell Nina that you did not request this service. What hurts more is that I am Vietnamese so I can totally understand what they were saying. The shop is so disorganized. Clients coming in with a set appointment but not getting to them until 30 minutes pass their appointments time. That's not acceptable. Why tell people they need to make an appointment if you don't even read what the appointment is for?? Every appointment that comes in, the client is greeted with "what are you here for?" There's already a language barrier, why not use your online scheduling to know what your client booked the appointment for. Super sweet people and they are my peeps as I am Vietnamese too, and it really hurts me to leave this review, but someone needs to manage this shop better so you don't get this kind of review. I won't be back. I don't know how they continue to be so busy unless people just don't care about how they are treated or how they are getting charged. read more

I came back to this salon because it's ranked high and I had a good experience last year. I'm not sure what happened, but the woman I had was extremely rude and rough. She also handed me a mint because I was drinking coffee. (Maybe this happens to everyone?!? I'm not a heavy breather... Too bad. I like the back massage but overall felt rather uncomfortable with the whole experience. Nails do look good, but I'll be looking elsewhere for this service. It was 3 weeks ago that myself and my 2 grown daughters had an appointment to get pedicures at Nina's. I got right in and one of my daughters was soon after. The other one they left waiting for half an hour, then gave her their "deluxe" package which she hadn't asked for. As this was her first time there she had no clue. Seventy-five dollars for a gel pedicure which chipped the next day. My other daughter got a gel pedicure and it also lasted a day. I've been there a few times and got pressured to get more than just a regular pedicure and it ofter was either a very thin coat or it chipped soon after. Needless to say we won't be returning and will look for another place in Bellingham. read more

Decided to try Nina's after a 9 month break. In the past, they've done really great nail art and I was tired of the standard flowers at my usual place. So I decided to give them another try, hoping to have a better experience than I'd had the last few times I'd been there. I only get regular polish as opposed to gel, for personal reasons, this has not been a problem in the past. I had specific colors in mind for a special event. I told them that I didn't care what design they chose as long as it used the specific colors and didn't include flowers. I booked a regular manicure and pedicure with nail art online for right at opening at 10 on a Saturday. I arrived 5 minutes early and almost every pedi chair was full and every mani station was full already. I was seated in the last open chair. At first the water was too hot then they just filled it with cold, making it lukewarm. I was never offered a drink. Then when 10:00, the actual opening time came around, a rush of customers arrived who claimed they also had appointments. There was no space for them. So either they overbooked appts or had filled the salon with mostly walk-ins before they'd even officially opened! This is when things started getting frantic. As soon As I reminded them what I wanted, (I had assumed they'd known since I had already said and I had included it all on my reservation), they started telling me that nail art wasn't possible with regular polish and that I had to get gel. I communicated that I would not be getting gel and that I didn't need anything fancy or intricate and that they had done what I was asking many times before. Then they admitted that it WAS possible, just that gel would be quicker and easier since they wouldn't have to wait for regular polish to dry for so long. I told them I was fine with waiting and that I had reserved and indicated everything I was asking for on my reservation. No where is it advertised on their website page or in the salon or on their menu that nail art is not possible with regular polish. You would have a hard time finding a salon anywhere who would ever say that to a customer, especially one that wasn't requesting anything too intricate. They were stressed out and overbooked themselves and wanted to do what was quicker and easier, trying to talk me out of what I wanted and had reserved and communicated in advance. They begrudgingly agreed to continue. The rest of my experience was a mix of waiting an unnecessary length of time and then getting rushed sloppy service and cutting corners when I actually got attention. I have been getting regular polish and designs for decades. The waiting they were making me do was not necessary. It was due to them being too overbooked, not about waiting till the polish was dry enough for a design. I was told to wash my hands in the restroom so I had to walk across the entire place and in the bathroom without shoes on in order to do so, the floor had muddy prints due to the weather and so many customers waiting. I never got any lotion after my pedicure. They skimped on the designs and only put it on 4/10 Fingers. The polish and top coat applied doesn't even cover my entire nail in some spots. Some of my nails are rough and jagged at the ends. I had to keep reminding them that my toes still needed top coat. Then after making me wait for so long in stages because they were so busy, I was rushed out and not allowed to let my nails dry for very long because they needed the space where I was sitting, for a new round of customers claiming they had appointments, in the very full salon. All of the women here are very nice and cordial. Nina works very hard. They are all very skilled. Overbooking and then rushing because of overbooking negatively impacts their using their skills and customer service, they forget to include all of the advertised pieces of each service, they try to talk customers out of what they've reserved and want, and it all results in a a sloppy final product. Unfortunately all of these are reasons why I stopped going here in the first place. I probably will not return again for a while. read more

Booked a mani and pedi both suppose to be 45 min services so an hour and half in the salon. I was out of that salon before an hour was up, and they didn't even do the services at the same time. The $45 pedicure at first I was really impressed with... best massage with a pedi I've had in bham in a long time. After leaving I realized my nails were cut at a sharp angle on one foot. On the other foot, they were so short there's blood drawn from beneath my nail beds, and my nails were dug at so aggressively it hurts to walk now. The $50 manicure was hardly that. There was no soaking and cleaning up the bed and cuticles. Just a rapid paint job that it's very unevenly lumpy, but otherwise clean. With the price point of these services, I expected more. read more

I had an appointment and originally thought I would still be waiting awhile but one of the ladies took care of me since my set was simpler than another clients. My nail artist had amazing application and made me feel so at peace and eased my stress of being at the salon. I asked for a slim square royal blue full set and Nina did a great job with the color and the amazing massage. I seriously feel so relaxed. Pricing is fair as well! Maybe it's because I'm from LA and there is a higher standard. I don't know. I get pedicures back home every 2-3 weeks so my feet are in good shape. This is a new place according to my friend. I thought it was tastefully decorated inside. Not too much chatter and noise which is why I gave it a 3 star. Service was "just okay". We had appointments but still waited for two chairs. Sat down after ~8-10 min. Soaked my feet in plain water while waiting another 10 min. Glad I wasn't in a hurry. My technician arrived 10 minutes BEFORE my friend's. I read what was supposed to be included in the deluxe pedicure and asked the technician about the soak. She said i was soaking and I told her, nope. I think we are missing the salts. She tossed in a spooonful of salts begrudgingly and proceeded to talk about me in Vietnamese. Be careful there; you don't know who understands you! The technician used the metal tool for calluses so hard it caused pain and I had to ask her to lighten up. The pedi is also supposed to include scrub and LOTION massage. She gave me the massage with the SCRUB and nothing with the lotion. It was NOT supposed to be done this way. My friend's technician MIXED the scrub and lotion TOGETHER and gave her the massage. This is incredibly lazy and I question whether these ladies are licensed. They did NOT know what they were doing. The actual nail color was painted on fine for both of us. I left annoyed. We both agreed this is not a place to return. I'm suprised by the other reviews here, but perhaps they had licensed and/or experienced technicians. Or again, maybe in LA we just have a higher quality of service. read more

I've been here three times now. The first time was for a pedicure and it was awful. When I got home and looked closely I could still see the color of the polish I went in with on the edges of my toes! Clearly they didn't remove it well enough. Many months passed and I tried them again, this time it was a great experience and my pedicure turned out wonderful. Just had a basic manicure and they did the whole thing in under 30 minutes. This was our first time here. And last. My mom, sister and I had appointments. When we walked in the place was stuffed wall to wall with customers, people waiting outside. Their "spa" chairs don't massage, are uncomfortable and if you're older it's like climbing a mountain to get in. The step up to the chair is dangerously high and slippery as my sister found out when slipped and fell into the water tub which was boiling hot because they didn't check the temperature . Not one employee even noticed or helped. They shit talked about potential customers in their home language and made it clear that they were talking shit. My nails look great but the vibe and "supposedly " tranquil environment is not cool. If you're looking for a nice nail salon to relax and enjoy this is not the place. Very disappointing pedicure experience. I made an appointment to make sure they'd have time to get me in but I don't think it helped anything. The technician was doing 2-3 other pedicures at the same time as mine. When I put my feet into the water to soak it was scolding hot so I asked for cooler water, so she turned it all the way to ice cold and walked away. Draining my tub partially and refilling as I waited wasn't a great start. When she came back she did the normal clipping, filing and then a scrub up my legs and feet, left again, and then... polished them. That was it. Took all of 15-20 minutes with not even a foot rub (which come on is the best part!) I figured maybe they booked me for an express pedicure or something but nope, that whole experience was still $45 dollars + tip. Definitely don't recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing pedicure. Also worth noting that she used the same gloves across multiple patrons. read more

They start working with people and leave them waiting for a very long period of time to complete another project... Today I had an appointment at 1:30 and didn't make it out until nearly 5:00 due to only one worker being able to do designs on nails.
