This was coffee / restroom break stop. Restroom was dirty. Coffee was instantly brewed stuff, which is okay. But no liquid creamer. I mentioned this politely to the kid at the counter and was told, cheerfully, "Oh, we run out of creamer every day!" Had to have some caffeine, so I used the nasty generic powdered stuff, and stood in line to pay. A girl ahead of me got comped her drink but I got to pay full price. Lol. This review reflects the Commercial Truck General Maintenance Shop. ( Tires, oil changes, wipers, ect) Not major repairs. My husband Joe asked me to write this review for him. In July my husband accompanied my son Joseph on a 1,500 mile trip to Texas to pick up a semi tractor that my son had purchased. The semi was to be driven to Cape Coral Florida where Joseph and family are presently living. Since they were about 50 miles away from the nearest highway, the test drive was performed on the local roads with very restricted speed limits. When they finally reached the highway and were able to increase the driving speed the truck had a severe vibration which was a safety issue. A Google search led them to Loves Truck Stop in Baird, Texas. Upon arriving, they were greeted and assisted by Haynes, the shop foreman. The guys were directed to pull into the garage and his mechanics Joe, Corey and Steven removed both front tires and placed them on the balancing machine. After several attempts to balance both tires, they regrouped. Knowing the history of the truck being stored for two years in extreme heat, it was decided to install two new tires. The old tires had developed a flat spot from sitting for so long. The shop foreman and mechanics went to work and never complained. Everyone was ecstatic when the problem was resolved. My husband Joe and son Joseph were very impressed with Haynes, Joe, Corey and Steven's work ethics, professionalism and help with a smile. They took our predicament as a challenge. Not all Love's Travel Stops are equal. This one is at the top of the scale. One of their nicer ones. I stopped by on Christmas Eve on my way home needing to fill up with gasoline and coffee, and I'm glad I stopped here. The gas prices were a little higher than some areas, but lower than where I had just been. But the bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The store was well stocked and clean as well. There were multiple food and drink options, and a decent variety of snacks, foods, drinks, souvenirs, electronics, travel accessories, etc. There is also, under the same roof, a Subway and a Chester's Fried Chicken, so you can get some hot and fresh prepared food beyond what they have in the store. The employees were cheerful and friendly despite having to work on Christmas Eve... perhaps it was the time and a half dynamic working for them? But other reviewers have noted the same even on normal days. I will remember this place next time I am traveling through the area. Highly recommended. read more

I chose this Loves based on the reviews. I called ahead and asked if we can stop and sleep over. (RV). Just in my phone call the lady was very welcoming. She made a recommendation where to park and advised me of the dog park. I have a dog! When we get there, late, the ladies who run the Subway and Chester's were so fun! For working all day they were in great spirits. We ate from both. In the morning (6am) the cleaning staff greeted me with a good morning as she was up-keeping the very clean bathrooms they have. The staff was making coffee and in great spirits again. It felt like I was staying at a bed breakfast based on my treatment here. Crazy to say for a truck stop. Best Loves ever! 19 Aug 2024 around 12:30 pm. I have been a loyal Loves customer since 2016 after my retirement. I have an RV and my main trip this year was over 5,000 miles. I stoped at the Loves in a car not the RV and as I used my chip card at the pump it said see cashier. As I told the attendant he ask how much gas do you want. Confused I asked if he wanted me to pay cash? He immediately got upset he said NO give me your card and tell me how much gas you want. I asked, you tell me it won't take my card at the pump but you can take it inside? He said yes then told me whatever I don't used it will go back to my card. I asked why? His response, "that's the way it is, what did you want me to do about it" So what this came down to is there equipment failed. Or I was targeted for being out of state. To me it matters not. They didn't trust me, so I'm supposed to take there word there trustworthy. Not happening! I am done with Loves my future trips will use another provider. The attendant was rude and a smart a**, my wife had picked several item to buy . I told her to put them back. As we were walking out the door he said "sarcastically" have a nice day. This place is a complete dump. The state of the parking lot should have been warning enough but we just had to stop. Bathroom was in severe need of attention. Every single bin in the parking lot was overflowing with rubbish. When I opened the car door to get out I had to side-step to avoid more trash. Nice clean bathrooms and plenty of stuff to look at, if you are waiting for someone whose bladder is a bit slow OR if you need a gift in a hurry for that special someone. We enjoy window shopping in truck stops just to see what's out there. At Loves you can pick up a plushie frog the size of an 8 year old, a walking stick topped with a skull (with or without extra bling), a plushie stick horse, a blinged out tiger blouse, glass tchotchkes, squid pens, and MORE!! Oh, and the store is clean, well-organized, with clean restrooms that feature 4 regular and 1 handicapped stall. 5 stars! read more

Decided to give Chester's Fried Chicken a try, having seen it advertised all over the interstate. Chester's and Subway are nestled inside of Love's. There were two employees on duty and the service was not very quick, but it was due in large part to a lady who couldn't make up her mind what to order. Opted for the two piece combo with potato wedges and mac & cheese for the two sides. I ate it because I was hungry, but the chicken really had no memorable flavor. The macaroni was absolutely bland and tasted like it had been poured out of a can. The batter was falling off the potato wedges, so essentially it was like a slice of baked potato that had been deep fried with no batter. The one saving grace was that they had my favorite Cholula hot sauce via individual packets, which somewhat salvaged my chicken breast. I would have to say it was total mediocrity. I will definitely choose Subway next time over Chester's. read more

I really enjoyed this gas station. They were really friendly and the place was super clean and looked pretty new. They do not have the cheapest gas around but I only needed a couple gallons​ so it was fine. I would definitely​ stop here on a road trip. Air for tires is $1.00 (& it looks like it may take cards, which is better than the $1.25-$1.50 air machines that only take quarters), which is great that they are up-to-date & in the 21st century.
