We just happened to run across Surrey Up and decided we absolutely had to rent a Surrey cart for the day, and I am so very glad we did. I could not say enough about the customer service we were given when we arrived- Jan (owner of the company) goes above and beyond to make sure you are have a great time. She offers a few different packages and bikes to choose from. We rented a two seater- one of the larger bikes- for half a day. She also charges by the hour. Overall, I highly recommend Surrey Up of Beaufort to anyone who wants to get a feel for Beaufort at their own pace!

This place was the closest option and was even walkable from our hotel, which made it super convenient. I originally wanted to rent a regular bike without any power assistance, but apparently my only option was an electric bike. I was definitely uncomfortable at first since it was my first time riding one, but after a little while I got the hang of it and honestly would recommend giving it a chance. The pedal assist ended up making the rides a lot more enjoyable, especially in the heat. We ended up riding close to 30 miles over two days and got to see so much more of the island than we would have if we had just driven everywhere. We were told the bikes could even glide across the sandy beach if we wanted to try that, but the sun was just too intense for us to attempt it. We rented the bikes for 24 hours, and the total came out to over $100. The bikes themselves had a range of around 50 miles, which was more than enough for exploring. The owner still personally runs the business, and he was incredibly pleasant and sweet. I always love supporting small businesses, especially ones that make your vacation experience even better.

Their prices are reasonable with many special LTO's and discounts. Their Scorecard is their rewards program to earn discounts after spending certain amounts. I went there for one thing--- a bicycle. Dick's had put out a flyer offering 2 types of Schwinn bikes at 50% off. The problem is their website and store didn't have the same offer. After contacting their customer service, I had a note offering a "price match" in which they honored the 50% price. A special call-out to Chris Campbell, one of their service technicians, who did an excellent job adjusting the gears and brakes during the safety check. He did a great job explaining the safe operation and maintenance of the bike. As a precaution, I took out their warranty for the free tune up and safety inspections. Check out was quick and easy.

I went there and they researched tires for my Bike and gave me a price on two tires for $646.45. Most money I have ever spent on motorcycle tires. But apparently, my bike has an odd rear tire size, so I agreed. Prior to ordering the tires they asked me to pay up front for the tires which is totally understandable. So I went by there to pay and schedule an appointment time to install the tires when they arrived. On my bill it is clearly $436.87 for the tires. So I paid for the tires with my credit card. Later, that evening I looked at my receipt and saw that I was not charged the above stated amount - I was charged $454.13. There was an additional charge of $17.26 because I used my credit card. Now, I understand that there is a service charge to the vendor when they accept a credit card payment. Hey, that is "THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS"! But what really bothers me is that I was never informed about the added charge prior to using my card. Had I been told about the charge I would have stopped by the ATM on my way to Cycle Ward and paid in cash. I WAS NEVER TOLD ANYTHING! The next day (Saturday) I called to discuss the issue but they were closed so I sent them an email. They responded to the email on Monday simply stating that that was there credit card policy and they stated that there was a sign on the desk stating the policy. Gee, my Bad. I should have perused the office and desk closely to check for their billing practices. Silly of me for thinking that they would verbally disclose their policy to me and give me the chance to pay is cash prior to the purchase. But, you know what. If they had said to me. I'm sorry we should have made the extra charge clear to you and deducted the extra charge from the final bill - then this would have been a five star review versus a three star review. The work they did was fine (even though they left a socket on my bike which could have flown off and caused problems). BOTTOM LINE: Very unprofessional secretively passing on a charge that is normally paid by the vendor to the customer and worst of all - sticking to their guns when the customer complains.

One of the bikes was returned with the brakes still not adjusted properly and continues to have braking issues. Another bike had to be taken back because a cable that should have been replaced during the original service was missed. The owner even acknowledged that the cable should have been replaced initially, yet we were charged again when we picked up the bike. When you spend that kind of money on repairs, you expect the work to be done correctly the first time and for a shop to stand behind its service when mistakes are made. Instead, we were left with ongoing problems and additional charges to correct work that should have been included in the original repair. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we cannot recommend this shop.

I'm not sure if it was because of the off season but both my husband and I had bikes that struggled a bit and mine had a bent rim around the chain that made an awful clicking sound on each pedal. For the ease and convenience, you just can't beat renting bikes and Paradise Island Bikes is a great company to rent from!

Was uncomfortable until we stopped at the Avocado Bike Shop and they fixed it. After 13 miles my battery died and had to ride 3.5 miles back to the shop with a heavy dead bike. They are supposed to go 30-35 miles... I turned it in as my friends continued with their ride for 2 more hours. Owner insisted on a full refund. Again, super nice people! I just got a bike with a bad battery...

The first one felt like the brakes were stuck on. They kindly replaced it but the second one had almost no brakes and makes you work too hard to make it roll. While crossing the street in Shipyard a car was coming and I almost had to jump off the bike since it wasn't stopping. I was standing on the pedal with my full weight and it barely came to a stop. I rented another bike from different company for my son and there's just no comparison in the quality of the bikes.
