Mace is amazing. He's an incredible artist and he's super kind and sweet as well. I called on a whim because I was not happy with the tattoo I got at an upscale highly rated place in Cambridge. Mace answered the phone talked to me, asked what I wanted to do with what I had. I sent him a picture of my tattoo and he sent one back to me with an idea to add to it. It was not what I expected and it's how I knew this guy was it. Just the draft of it blew me away. I booked with him for the day after and upon meeting him my fears were calmed. He is so easy to talk to. I let him take creative control over this tattoo to honor my mother and I could not be happier with how it turned out. I highly recommend him 10/10 he's great. I called Lowell Ink on the spur of the moment on a Saturday afternoon while I was running errands in Lowell. Eric answered and said he could take me as a walk in. I was a tattoo virgin and am a 55 yo mom, but I had wanted a particular tattoo for a long time and I guess that was the day. He was extremely kind and sensitive to the fact that I was clearly outside my comfort zone, a little nervous, and emotional about the tattoo and some things I've been going through. He engaged me in conversation during the entire session and he was understanding when I teared up talking about my kids (from emotions, not pain). The tattoo itself was simple and took all of maybe 5 or 10 minutes. His work was very clean and it is exactly what I wanted. I will definitely be getting another one and will seek him out for it. read more

This review is solely based on my experience with Eric the tattoo artist. I went and had 2 sessions with him. It was clear from day one he wasn't the friendliest character...that's ok,. I was there for tattoo work not to make friends...I can deal. He does a decent job. I cancelled my 3rd appointment 24 hours in advance. He had a bad attitude about it. I've owned businesses ...I understood when people rescheduled ...things happen ...not this guy. Willing to overlook his poor attitude once again I wanted to schedule a 3rd appointment. He wanted ANOTHER deposit...apparently he keeping my previous one from me rescheduling... Um ok. This guy is an entitled prick. His people/business skills are abhorrent. He'll give you a good tatt but if you can deal with his personality that's up to you....Maybe he thinks he's the only tattoo artist? Idk... good luck !!! read more

Have to admit I was worried about this shop because it's in Lowell. I looking for a local artist that offered clean lines and had some good black/grey tattoos that I connected with. Thus, I found myself in Lowell Ink in search of Steve. While Steve specializes in horror portraits and not at all in running dogs or curly fonts I knew he could handle the small tattoos I was looking to get based on his work displayed online. I was right. I have had two tattoos before today both with separate artists...not researched. I openly admit some slight regret that I never researched the artists prior because the lines aren't crisp and blending isn't great. I was happy I did my homework this time. Steve is great. Talk about crisp lines and great detail in such a small area. One dot the wrong way and it could've turned out bad. The shop conditions are a "C". They aren't so scary you want to run out screaming, but I've been in some shops where everything is perfectly clean almost like a doctors office. Bonus however: The locals may offer you pot prior to walking in to the shop if you are lucky. All the charms of Lowell. That being said I didn't feel like their techniques or items they used were dirty and that's the most important thing. To me it's crazy no one has posted a review about Steve yet. I would encourage you to check out his work on the website. While I'm sure he had not predicted a stranger coming in asking for him and wanting running dogs and a saying written on her feet today I truly appreciated him inking me today. I walked in there looking for some healing and found it. And now, in dark moments, I can look down and smile. Thank you Steve. read more

Had an appointment to get a tattoo to honor my dead dog. Gave him (the artist I won't name) high res images of my dogs face, so he could have the design ready when I come in for my appointment. When I saw what he had created, I was utterly shocked and disappointed to see that the design he had made looked NOTHING like my dog. It could've been a random black Labrador off of the internet for all I know. When I told him how I felt, he told me that portraits aren't his forte. Well, clearly! I then decided to get a simple tattoo instead of an elaborate portrait. I had a pretty basic idea of what I wanted, and was online looking for inspirations for the fonts. First of all, I get NO creative input from him. He kept rushing me and was impatient. he had no suggestions to make, no design ideas to offer. Instead of it being a collaborative effort, He basically just wanted me to give him a ready made design that he could then simply trace. In the end, I just got my deposit back and walked out without a tattoo. Really, really disappointed w my experience and I don't think I'll ever be going back again. Go to him if you know EXACTLY what you want, and don't need any creative input/suggestions. If it's plain lettering or simple designs, he may be your guy. read more

My mother died recently and in her honor I wanted to get a tattoo of a giraffe. After finding an image/design I liked I began looking around at the various shops in my area and nearby. I chose Steve to do my ink based on his portfolio and online and after spending some time talking about what I wanted and what we could do to make the image I found more realistic. His skill with realism is what really sold me. I did see that his primary interest is in horror - however being an artist myself I know that if he could do realism in human faces he could handle animals. And I was right! I love the final final product and am now working with him on a design to cover my entire upper arm including a rather intricate lion. I highly recommend Steve for any specialty work you want to have done. read more

My sister and I decided to get sibling tattoos, and in search for an ink shop we found Lowell Ink. Upon entering the shop we met Danny, Eric, and Ken. All 3 of them were welcoming and friendly. Our tattoo artist was Danny, and he did a pretty sweet job on both our tattoos. This is my first tattoo and with that being said, Danny made sure that I was comfortable throughout the entire session. From start to finish he worked with us both to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. My girlfriend was also there but was not planning on getting a tattoo done. While she was waiting for both of us to finish our tattoos, she was sharing ideas with Eric about what she wanted to get later down the line. After she found what she was looking for, Eric was able to tattoo her right there and then. He even touched up a tattoo that she already had, which didn't heal properly from different tattoo shop. All in all, this is a great tattoo shop. I would definitely recommend this place to others, and we will be back. read more

Just left there, got some work done by the artist known as Mace. Not only did he do an unbelievable job but he was a good guy too, we had a good conversation as well. A lot of times you sit in the chair and the guys working on you are rude or they seem like they wish they were somewhere else or that are doing you a huge favor. Not here.
