NEVER BUY PAINT here. I will not shop at Lowe's anymore. I bought a total of three 5-gallon containers of Drylok. I have two people who can back up my story: they were all taken directly from the store into my home and used (two were used). The third container, upon opening was curdled, which means there was freeze damage at some point, probably during the shipping process. When I tried to return it to Lowe's, they told me there was freeze damage and zero returns on liquid paint. I bought the paint on a 70° day, so unless I was trying to paint the inside of a freezer, their excuse makes absolutely no sense. Then I told them to take the paint because I had received a chargeback from my card company they told me I had to recycle it because it was a hazmat issue. Horrible customer service at the store, even trying to get proof that I attempted to return it took 30 minutes of me standing around. What's crazy is that they handed me their return policy (pictured), stating they don't take back paint, but it clearly shows that they have a 30-day return policy for liquid paint. Moved to Bloomington Illinois in August 2023 and have been to this location three times. Two out of three visits were some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Eye rolling, arms across chest and heavy sighs when trying to get vinyl flooring installed. Did not use them after multiple mistakes on measurements & product quotes, and of course, their condescending attitude. Second visit was fine, just had a duplicate key made, woman helping was friendly and knowledgeable. Went in for another duplicate key and the only person we could find literally walked us to their new kiosk, and tried to explain how to work the machine and make the key myself, instead of him having to make the key in the key grinder in aisle 14. I asked what if the key got stuck in the kiosk or what if the key didn't work? He said he didn't plan on it getting stuck and if it didn't work, I could return it. He then walked down the aisle, chatted with a coworker while he watched me get the key made instead of actually working at the store he's being paid to work at, and laughed. Never again. read more

Came into the store about 7:08am looking to get some paint to start my Saturday paint project. Waited 5 minutes at the paint counter, no one showed. There are two young girls behind me at the customer service counter across the isle, both of whom made eye contact with me, but went back to checking their Facebook and X accounts. No one so much as acknowledged my existance let alone said hello or asked if I needed help. I pressed the assistance button at the counter. Another 2-3 minutes go by. Customer service gals go on to check their Instagram feeds. I ask for someone to be paged to paint to help me, only to be met with a lovely salesman storming in from the back of the store in a huff. "I can't even go to the fucking bathroom..." attitude. He was rude, profane, and disrespectful. Management needs to do better teaching theur emplyees to address people and be helpful. I don't mind waiting for someone to help me, but acknowledge my existance, say hello, and do your job. Get off your phone!!!!!!!! Ask if you can help someone. Everyone these days acts if nothing is their problem or theur concern and if asked to do your job its an inconvience that warrants disrespect. read more

I purchased an upright freezer on Sat, and it was to be delivered on Monday afternoon. Monday morning a man from the store called & said they discovered it was damaged, so they contacted the distribution center to locate a new one, as they did not have another in stock at the Bloomington, IL store. I specifically asked him to call me back, and he said ok. I still had not heard anything by lunchtime on Tuesday, so I went to the store. The salesman working looked up the order, and told me it had been canceled on Monday and they refunded my purchase. What? He was dumbfounded as well. The computer wasn't allowing him to search other nearby stores, so he sent me to Customer Service. First, it should be renamed "Customer Disservice". The lady working seemed annoyed she even had to talk to me. She looked up my order & said yes, it's been refunded. I asked why, and she just stared at me. I asked for a receipt of the refund, and she said she couldn't do that. I asked her to check other stores for the same freezer, and she said she couldn't do that. I almost asked her what she could do, but figured she'd just stare at me all bug eyed again. Before I walked out the door I told her I could not believe she'd watch an $1100 purchase go somewhere else, rather than lift a finger to try to keep the sale. And it was unbelievable that no one even called to tell me I wasn't getting a freezer at all. I've had other negative experiences at this store, but they have now hit a new all time low. read more

This store is fine if you want to browse, fill your cart, and go through the checkout but they managed to mess up four out of five recent online, delivery, and special orders that we've made. It took four trips to the store and multiple phone calls for us to get just the tile we had ordered. We purchased a washer and dryer and scheduled delivery and removal of the old appliances. They called and said they were 15 minutes away to pick up the old appliances but they had no idea there were supposed to deliver anything. That took a day of phone calls to straighten out. We have a fridge coming, and on and on... In military terms, this store is a Charlie Foxtrot. Since Home Depot and Menards are also options in BNL, we won't be making any future purchases here. read more

Spent over 6K on new windows. I'll say right off that the local contractors they hired to install our windows were as professional as they come. Friendly, on time, and immensely helpful in every regard. They are the reason I'm making this 2 stars instead of one. Lowe's themselves are a different story. Took THREE MONTHS to get the windows delivered. Not because there was a back order, but because Lowe's themselves ordered the WRONG SIZED windows...not once, but TWICE. I had to continually keep getting them my cc # for the reorders, even though it was a Lowe's card. Never called to tell me when they would be delivered. I had to call them myself. Expressed my frustration with their poor customer service and logistical skills. No response. Next time, I am calling Home Depot. read more

We were really impressed with the customer service we received from Eric in the appliance area. He answered all of our questions and helped us find the perfect appliances that would be delivered in the timeframe we needed for our new house. He also made sure that we qualified for as many discounts as possible to make our overall bill as small as possible! He was super personable and friendly-I will send everyone I know to see him if they need new appliances! Although he has worked at Lowes for 15 months, he told us he worked at Sears in the appliance section for 30+ years before they shut down so he has a wealth of knowledge and experience! This was second disappointing customer service experience in the past year at the Bloomington Lowe's. The first was when we tried to order a stainless steel grill, including assembly. It got lost in the shuffle and had a series of miscommunications with its status. This time we tried to use curbside pickup. On the day I placed the order, everything I ordered was in stock. Some time over the span of 4-5 days, some of the items became sold out and were canceled with no communication to us as a customer. When the other item was in, we parked in one of the curbside spots, called the number at 6:55 where they said they'd find someone to bring it out. After a long wait, it was finally brought out at 7:43. We had waited nearly an hour, lack of communication and lack of customer service attitude was definitely our experience again. read more

I have been a "Lowes Only" customer for years and after my recent experience I'm now a "Never Lowes unless they are the absolute last option". I'm remodeling a house almost an hour north of Bloomington so it's always a big day when I have to drive down for supplies. This particular day I was picking up lumber, plumbing supplies and electrical supplies. I first went in through the Pro entrance and started with the lumber. I'm building walls for hallways, bedrooms and closets so I need the lumber to be straight and need about 100 2x4's. I started to sort the 1/2 stack sitting on the ground and found about 1 straight one out of every 10. I noticed the end of the pile was not straight which is a great indication this pile has already been sorted through by other customers and at some point an employee restocked it. Anyhow, I made it through 90% of the pile and realized even if I took every last board at this moment I still would not have enough; I still needed about 60 STRAIGHT boards. So I explained to the Pro desk that I need more 2x4's, I had went through the ones on the ground and they were all misshaped. The Pro employee told me he would call for a forklift but it might be a minute because they were busy. I told him it was no problem because I had a lot of shopping to do. He encouraged me to shop and come back later. After filling 4 carts and 3 push tables full of stuff, I was ready to get my last 60 pieces and check out. Went to the lumber area and they had all the pieces of lumber I had just went through pulled out and sitting on the forklift. They told me to go ahead and get what I needed. I explained that I already went through that lumber and it's bent/deformed and it's no good for making straight walls. The employee responded with, "I totally get what you're saying but we can't get down another bundle u yup this one is gone..." Blew my mind. I tried to explain it better that when building walls with lumber the liner needs to be straight. The kids picks up a couple boards and is finally like, "here's a straight one...." I asked him if he couldn't see the giant bend approximately15" from the end, it looked like a 1/2 straighten hockey stick. He responded, "yeah I see it but it's because of that knot in the wood." I explained that I don't care why the wood is bent, I can't use bent wood!! I went back to the Pro Desk guy, explained the situation and he told me, "I can't force them pull another one down. I don't know what to tell you." Once again my mind is blown. I asked to speak to the store manager, surely he has to understand what I'm saying about not being able to build straight walls with bent lumber.....turns out I was wrong!! The STORE MANAGER explained that they can't pull down anymore lumber until it's all gone. He told me I could come back in a couple days to see if there is a new bundle on the floor. I explained I lived almost an hour away and I needed the materials that day. The store manager stated, well if you want to buy any lumber from lowes today, you'll have to pick lumber from that pile." I about lost my mind!! I took a couple breathes, explained that I had 7 carts of stuff and they can return it all because I will go elsewhere. The store manager smirked and said, "see ya later, good luck!" I went to Menards and bought the exact same items i had just walked out on at Lowes....I had over $4,600 in total. On my list was forty 20amp Square D breakers. Menards app showed they had them but I couldn't find them. I asked a lady and she explained that the items arrived that day but have probably not been put on the shelf yet. She basically bent over backwards for me trying to find these breakers. Two other Menards employees jumped in to help; searching all over the store, not just the electrical department. I continued shopping, was probably in there for over 2 hours. When o was in the checkout line the girl came up and told me she still could not find them, they had been looking everywhere. It was crazy the difference in employee attitudes. I have since spent an additional $15k with Menards and will continue to use them! read more

After several failed attempts at fixing the large seams and floor separation throughout the house, Lowes switched to a nation-wide customer service system which "can't find any record of our purchase" and so won't honor their warranty. The problem is that they got adhesive in the carpet so it's hard and separating. We will have to get someone else to fix it. Lowes is just a middleman to contractors so your mileage may vary. I say avoid unless you have 5k to burn on an unfinished job. read more

I have shopped at lowes for years and my experience has been neutral up until now. The only reason I would choose to shop here is the fact that Home Depot and Menards are a longer ride from my house. Yesterday I had an EXPERIENCE SO AWFUL THAT I WILL NEVER SHOP AT LOWE'S AGAIN. After spending a good amount of money (lawnmower, weed whacker, brush cutter attachment, and another cart full of items to remodel my garage) My s/o (HL) was assaulted by a member of their staff named MATT. The store was busy and I was unable to keep up with HL she reached the exit and waited for me in clear view of MATT,when MATT see's me pushing a cart with expensive items and realized we were together. Rather than politely ask to see a receipt MATT lunges in front of us and slams HL's cart into her stomach and chest saying "No!, Hold it!, Receipt!" I instructed him to remove his hand from our cart and said i need to speak with a manager immediately, His response "I am the manager" I found another person who claimed to be a manager but thought the whole thing was a joke. I called the Bloomington police and they arrived promptly and viewed the video. The agreed that MATT was very aggressive and he was charged with disorderly conduct. read more

I simply wanted to pick up and read a box that was on the floor, that had an alarm on it, which ultimately led to this smartass employee chastising me for setting a off the alarm more than once. I told her specifically that I just wanted to read the box, but she insisted on talking down to me, as if she thought I was stupid, or was trying to steal a item in plain view. Manager chased away business. I was trying to buy an appliance, and had checked the one I wanted out on the internet. Lowe's was $55 (over 10%) more than Home Depot and probably Amazon. Until this visit I preferred Lowe's over Home Depot. I decided to stop in when driving buy and just order it, thinking their price match would give me the same price. Both places would ship to store or home. The very competent, polite, and professional appliance salesperson had all the information in place but said he needed to have the manager approve the match. After an extended period of time the manager came by and rudely said that since product had to be ordered Lowe's wouldn't match. That may be "corporate policy" but he didn't apologize for corporate stupidity or try to explain why match was not possible. The salesman tried to tell him that Lowe's and Home Depot didn't have the product, and they were matching similar purchases, and he started to walk away. I asked him why he was chasing away a $500 purchase and he continued to walk away. Costco, Home Depot, Menard's, Farm and Fleet, Tractor Supply, Wal-Mart, etc. Places I will now go ahead of Lowe's. Even Amazon. I'd rather talk to a computer than the manager of a Lowe's brick and mortar store. read more

For some reason this location lacks options. Every department is missing something. The kitchen design department rarely have anyone working there. The lumber area does have more options. Lighting department is large with tons of options. We recently just bought a home and the previous owners had Lowes installed new carpet in the living room. The very first time I vacuumed the room all of the seams ripped and the carpet is destroyed. The installers did not do a very good job. read more

By far the most RIDICULOUS experience of my life. We purchased a washer and dryer from this location via online. Understanding it is the busy season, I was highly surprised I was told it would be here in about a week. Long story short, 4 weeks later, numerous phone calls and about 7 different delivery dates we finally had our washer and dryer scheduled to be delivered. Upon delivery, one of the highly trained professionals dropped a screw INTO our new dryer. In the electrical panel and couldn't find it. So, he tells my mother in law who is here that he dropped a screw and asked if she had one. Then, she calls my husband and I at Menards and asks us to pick one up for him. THEN, he calls his manager, his manager advises him NOT to deliver the dryer with a screw IN IT!! He failed to mention that to my mother in law, she thought he dropped it on the floor. So, new dryer. I was told would be a week to get. Needless to say that wasn't going to be good enough for me as this has been a cluster f*ck from the beginning. I talked to a woman, who got information a dryer was coming to the store that we could have. "You will have it Wed night or Thur" Come Thur night, I call the store and we are scheduled for Friday. I requested to be the first stop. Chris, promised I would be. Later, I get a call "you are our 4th stop of the day" oh no no no.. I think not. I informed them I was the first. "oh sure thing" The next morning... My timeframe of "first stop" comes and goes. I call the store and was told they "just left Bloomington store" Then the driver calls me and tells me he just finished up his last delivery and is on their way to me. LIARS. So, a phone call back to the store inquiring why I was told one thing, lied to and now am the 4th stop. CHRIS, who bless his heart told me he was sending me $100 gift card (HAHAHA) apologized. Funny thing.. I have yet to receive said gift card. It's been well over a week. So not only do they fail on customer service, sales, delivery and management.. They fail in trying to correct it. I have been trying to get the status of my order and have tried online and called customer service ( I've been on hold for 49 minutes so far) with no resolution. I ordered online to be shipped to my home and the online status says it's been received. The delivery date has changed by two weeks and it's a stock item in the stores. The order shows half will be delivered and 1/2 will be shipped to the store, I requested all of it shipped to my home. This is a common problem with Lowe's. If this coule be 4.5 stars it would. 5 stars would be for Mike Walton of the cabinetry department. Lowe's is a box store, I know...but for something as custom as building a kitchen, the employees have to have a lot more knowledge than how to run a register. Mike has been fantastic...he really took A LOT of time to work with me and all of the little changes and needs that I had. He took the time to make sure I had all of the data I needed, even emailing and scanning things to me on his days off. I will note that not all cabinet designers are the same, so go with someone you feel comfortable. I will adjust the review as the cabinets that we ordered last night come in. SO excited! read more

Frustrating experience over the last month with Lowes. Purchased a new fridge, icemaker, and service plan online. It went on sale the next morning. Called the customer service # and spent more than 90 minutes on the phone while they tried to do a price adjustment, then told they would have to do a return/rebuy. No problem, I said. They did the rebuy, but never processed the return... So at this point, I've bought two identical fridges, icemakers, and service plans at different prices. Both post to my credit card. I call them up when the refund hasn't posted to my card after a week. Another loong wait on the line and they agree they messed up... they process the return for the fridge and ice maker, but not, as it turns out, for the service plan. A couple of days later, I then get a call from the delivery section of the store who says they will be about 2 weeks later in making delivery than they originally promised. OK, I say, things happen - but could you check on the return? Whereupon the gentleman tells me I really should NOT buy anything from them online because their sites aren't integrated and they never get it right... He - the actual Lowes rep - strongly urged me to never make a major purchase from his own company online because they would screw it up... Smart man, as it turns out... We end up trading calls (also involving me being criticized for having a full voicemail at one point, although I did call them back twice and they never answered at all... When I pointed this out the Lowes representative literally told me that they would never answer that phone, I don't think he saw the irony...) He also told me that I had not purchased the service plan (notwithstanding I have the charge already posted to my credit card). Next day I call customer service. They concur I did, in fact, buy the service plan -TWICE - and they didn't refund the cost of the first plan - sorry! They say they will get it done. 5 business days later I check and (total lack of surprise) still no refund. Tomorrow - weeks later than originally promised - the fridge is supposed to be delivered (as usual at 'some time' in a four hour block), and I will spend the morning calling their CS line again trying to get someone to process the refund that should have been fixed nearly a month ago. I'm not entirely sure what the real issue is here, but it seems like the local store and the national chain are almost completely blind to each other. Their computer systems are either totally independent or completely antiquated. I honestly think the refund is instigated by the national CS department sending a note to the local chain asking them to do it, and it seems they both just seem to drop the ball with astonishing frequency. Honestly, I've held out leaving any negative review all this while because I keep hoping I'll check the card, the refund will post, the fridge will show, and it'll be fine, but even the most optimistic outlook has to give way to experience eventually, and checking for the refund again this evening (still not there) was the tipping point for me. I will not be making any large purchase of any kind at Lowe's in the future... I have a Menard's and a Home Depot just as close, and a Best Buy that carries appliances as well. Waited for an employee to finish a lengthy personal conversation in order to get out flooring quote papers. As we are checking out a cashier decides to rudely complain how military members pull out their ID's after she scans items. We were not asked for our ID, so we gave it as we were pulling out our credit card. She told us it was ridiculous that she had to go back and change the amount due for a small discount. I'm truly glad this store decides to openly disrespect it's military members. You can keep our $35 for the flooring quote papers we will take our business somewhere else that treats us better. It took everything for my husband and I to smile and stay polite as we heard her rant. If you want our ID at the beginning please tell us, or such as any other store even on a military base, we will get our ID out as we get our money out as well. read more

Both had to repeatedly ask someone to verify prices. I'll take my business down the road where I can buy something without standing in line for 20 mins watching clueless employees. I have just had a round of purchases from Lowe's in the North Bay of San Francisco. I keep this a bit vague because I want to speak more to the experience of dealing with the Lowe's system and less about the people that served me. (Earnestly trying to do their jobs.). In this last week, I have made in store appliance, cabinet purchases and an attempt at an online purchase of cordless drill (when the store could not tell me if they had it in inventory or not). There were numerous errors and mis or non-communications that have required hours of calling, texting, and then visiting the store to correct. Inventory numbers that the sales people depended on were utterly wrong. The online purchase somehow had me picking up my purchase in Manassas, VA, thousands of miles from my home. (Customer service was unable to correct this because the computer system would not allow a change. I cancelled the order and went to Amazon). I return to the state of the data system for my final comment. I suspect that in this era of graphical computing that there are very not many people over under the age of 60 with the patience or experience to use keyboard commands and arrow keys in what looks like a dBase III platform for updating information in a database. Of the numerous problems that I have experienced with trying to be a Lowe's customer this last two weeks, EVERY problem could be traced to the inability of even dedicated employees to use and rely upon the critical inventory system. read more

This place by far has the worst customer service. I have spent my weekend at Lowe's and Menards due to renovating my home. Let me tell you. The difference between the two is ridiculous. If I wasn't trying to be cautious with how I spend my money on this renovation I would definitely stick with Menards. After weeks of waiting for my TREX products to be delivered to my home, I find myself exasperated to find the right words of defining true customer service. I have been in the retail/services for the past 30 plus years and know what good to excellent customer service is. This company and its upper management certainly does not take the time to train a vital skill of performing customer service to each client that walks into their doors. I was told that my order would be delivered, when I was lied to by two employees that the order was not pulled nor placed on the delivery truck, then to top things off, the order I place was sold under from me and I ended up with no products to be delivered. Now I have to wait for a shipment from the mainland that might arrive in 4-5 weeks or longer. I even asked for the store manager to call me, yet to this day, no calls from the top manager. It's big and has most things I need. The staff is usually pretty helpful. We usually go here to get our gardening supplies and plants, but we've also made big purchases here, such as carpet. The staff at the store was helpful and knowledgeable, helping us make a decision on carpet. They contract with outside contractors for installation, and the guys who measured and installed our carpet weren't great (i.e. showed up outside of the anticipated time, asking me if I could come home from work early to let them in, so they could get back up to Chicago before traffic hit. They also cut corners on the installation without my approval.). Overall, the store is clean and well organized with friendly, helpful staff. read more

Don't try to buy a garage door here.. They couldn't find the price and then never even called me back. Very disappointed!

Well I went here for low prices and the customer service equaled that. I found a countertop material that I liked and there was one particular design that was on sale but they didn't have a sample of it in the store. I asked the employee if he could acquire one for me. He supposedly tried but he had given the sample in the store to another customer and she never brought it back. He called his product rep and couldn't get them to bring one in for two months. TWO MONTHS. I waited because I thought I would like that material but it's hard to really judge from a picture online. Finally saw the material in person, liked it, ordered it. Maxwell Counters were their installers. They were quick to set up an appt. to measure and then install. It came in pretty fast, only a couple weeks. They got there and installed the counter, afterwards I noticed that they had damaged my base cabinets in a couple spots. The false drawer in front of the sink was split and falling off. They claimed that they did not do it. I know it wasn't like that before they got there. So they left. The next day I called Lowe's because I thought maybe their team would be the ones that got to fix Maxwell's mistake. The employee who answered the phone said he would look into it and get back with me. He never called back. A week later I called the Lowe's installation dept. again. Talked to the same employee. He said Maxwell claims I agreed that they did not do the damage when they were at my house. That is simply not true. Apparently they also weren't going to call me to tell me that. So the employee said he would try to sort it out. UPDATE: Maxwell and Lowe's came out to the house to inspect the damage. Maxwell still doesn't think they did it but a couple weeks later they did send out a carpenter to repair the damage. read more

Good prices, horrible customer service and they won't admit their mistakes. Next time I will pay more money to go somewhere that cares about their customers. read more

Horrible experience using Lowe's installers. They market reliable, timely and professional. They are none of those and Lowe's does not respond to complaints basically telling you too bad. There is no remedy for problems even when you request. Disappointed in Lowe customer service. read more

I went in because I had a issue with an install and was getting the run around from all of the employees on getting my door install fixed. No one returned any phone calls. The just care about getting their money and then I guess it is just in the customers hands to fix issues. They are supposed to have a year labor warranty... A bunch of bs!!!! After being fed up with no response from anyone I asked for the store manager, they said he was off. I got his name David, he was supposed to call me back the next day. I have been calling for him everyday for the past two weeks and he hasn't responded, they keep telling me that he is busy or in a meeting. He is probably just sitting in a office avoiding customers and any conflicts. This is the worst lowes store I have ever been in. Because of this I am going to take my business somewhere else where they will take care of their customers. read more

worst experience. purchased an appliance to be delivered with the old appliance hauled away. had to go back to the store because they input that i was taking the appliance at time of purchase, while i paid for the old one to be hauled away at time of delivery. then i waited all morning for delivery, took time off work, had to call the store, no delivery in the morning, instead will be around 4. missed a day of work. unloaded the old refrigerator to expedite the exchange in the morning and now have very warm food that will have to be thrown away.
