I wish I had read some of these reviews prior to ordering anything from Lowes. I ordered a fridge and it was "resourced" from the Cary store. It never showed up on the day it was scheduled. No call - nothing! I called the store, was put on hold and hung up on. Went to the Wake Forest store (closest to home) and they were no help. The man there was actually a bit hostile. I drove 30 miles to the Cary store and was there at 7:30am next day. The manager Allen Duncan passed me off to someone else because he was too busy to handle an upset customer. I was told that the fridge I order and was supposed to arrive was actually out of stock and I should have received a phone call (Fail!). So I picked out 4 others that I would take instead. They had one model in stock and I was told I would receive a call from Annette when she arrived. No phone call. I call and spoke to her. She said she would take my info and call back. No phone call. I called around 2pm and was put on hold, hung up on and passed around. I finally got tired of this and drove 30 miles back to the store. I walked to the desk and asked the woman "Are you Annette?" She said with full attitude "Who's asking?" This is where I really got aggravated and admit I started screaming so everyone in the store could hear me! They did not have any refrigerator to offer me- the manager did not know how to use the system and read things wrong in the morning. No one bothered to call and tell me this and forced me to drive to the store. They tried to figure out how to get me another fridge but could not. So I started solutioning because these people can't think out of the box. I asked for a floor model. "Oh, no we can't do that!" My response: "Why? you don't have any to sell anyway!". Annette was sitting there making faces the whole time!! (how NOT to do customer service). After causing a scene, the manager finally agreed to giving me the floor model. He said it would be on a truck to my house at least by Saturday. No refrigerator and it is Sunday. I called yesterday and actually got someone on the phone. She said (and I quote) "We don't know how to get your refrigerator on the truck." You deliver appliances - how do you not know how to get one on a truck!!! This is such a colossal failure on so many fronts! And we as customers have no recourse. What can I do? Can't sue Lowes for being stupid! read more

This review is about the Build-and-Grow activity which is held at various Lowe's stores on occasional Saturdays. They don't seem to be well known, but I like them. The store provides for free a small wooden kit which usually requires a dozen nails to put together into something which can be colored but ultimately doesn't endure for a long time. But hey, my kids' attention span isn't that long anyway. It's great for the kids around 5 years old that would like to do something constructive with a hammer with their dad to take home and show mom. The kits are cute, though obviously low cost. But they serve their intended purpose fine. The staff has been nice and it hasn't been too crowded. They generally have a stash of kid-sized safety goggles and aprons to give away for keeps, but the hammers need to stay. You will need to sign a waiver form, probably in case a hammer goes in an errant direction. I'm sure the store would love for the parents to pick up $150 in supplies for their Saturday project while there for this activity, but there isn't any arm twisting by the staff. This is a really big Lowe's across the street from Crossroads. Selection is extensive, though this store doesn't seem to stock as many of the lower cost options as some others. I've had to go back across the street to the Home Depot to get cheaper versions of things (e.g., I wanted some extra plain towel racks. I found some at HD for around $17, while ones that had a similar look at Lowes started around $35. I'm sure they were nice, but I just wanted the basics). It pays to shop around. Sometimes you'll do better here, sometimes it pays to keep looking. read more

We had a major house project that involved getting 8 pieces of piping cut and threaded into 24 pieces. We went to Lowes since they offer this as a free service. At first we were greeted by Doug in the plumbing department who made several excuses as to why he could not cut the pipe in the measurements we were requesting, however, none were under 24" in length, so they all could absolutely be cut using the machine. At this point he said "I'll try" and walked away. Several minutes later we were greeted by Stewart from the plumbing department who asked us what we needed help with. We explained the project and gave him our measurements. Stewart got right to it and helped us! All of the cutting took several hours and Stewart even took breaks to help other customers which we did not mind. While Stewart was cutting the pipes Doug kept coming over making snide remarks which included charging us for the service. We joked back and said "How about a military discount?" ( my husband and I are both in the service). Doug scoffed and said "Why? There isn't a war going on". We were shocked! Several other employees made remarks as to how much pipe Stewart was cutting. This is a FREE service offered by Lowes. Stewart and our cashier were the only professional acting employees throughout our 3.5 hour endeavor at Lowes. Doug was completely unprofessional and for a company that salutes its service members and offers a military discount I am in utter disbelief of the remarks Doug made and his lack of professionalism. If you have any plumbing needs I would recommend going straight to Stewart, as far as the snide remarks from the other employees, this is clearly a reflection of their lack of professionalism as well, and you'd be better off going elsewhere for your home improvement needs. The only reason I chose 3 stars instead of 1 was because of the impressive professionalism of Stewart and our cashier who simply was a doll! read more

Not really crazy about the location, and depending on what youre looking for might ending up going to another Lowe's location as their inventory isn't always the best. E.g ceiling fans and overhead lighting. read more

The customer service on the floor was exceptional. The customer service at the front was non-existent and incredibly rude. I needed help in three departments (tools, hardware and plumbing). All the staff members assigned to their aisles were extremely helpful and all took extra time to help me find everything I needed. One women even helped me to research the shear weight on some concrete screws I needed. When we finally had everything together that I needed, I rushed to the front with my items. The time was 10:11pm. The store closed at 10. I was condescendingly snapped at by the man at the door that the store had been closed for 30 minutes(?!) like I was some sort of ignorant asshole for asking where I could checkout. I actually thought he was messing with me at first. If he had told me in a tone that wasn't borderline yelling at me that he was sorry but the registers have already been broken down for the evening and maybe offered to hold my items for the morning I wouldn't be writing a negative review. I actually asked if he could hold them at customer service and he looked at me like I was crazy. He didn't seem to care that the items I had were custom cut and would most likely be trashed. I am in no way saying that I wasn't partially in the wrong, I was late getting to the front, but it could have been handled way differently. I get wanting to go home. I work retail. But I have never told a customer to leave after being helped for an hour to find everything they needed. I called before I wrote this and got nowhere. So forget it. And from the looks of the other yelp reviews I'm not the first to have a rude encounter at this location. read more

I went in to buy some vertical blinds for our new home. Gina the manager in that section helped us out. Come to find out I got the wrong length and it was suppose to be longer than what I needed. I called and Gina was there and she told us not to worry about it and come on in and she'll take care of me. Went in and she exchanged it out for me. I want to say that she was awesome and very helpful. A great person for Lowes to have her on their team. Great job and keep up that great work. read more

Rated one star because I had to give at least that. We wanted quotes on siding and windows. The salesman came out measured telling us he would be back the next day with his contractor and then have a quote the day after. He also asked if we had other quotes and was told we were getting others as well.They came out, measured again and left. It took over a month and many phone calls to get the siding quote only. Numerous stops to the store as well as calls for the manager were met with the same response that the manager was "out to lunch" regardless of time. We ended up contracting with their competitor and had a great job. I will not bother them with anything except small items I cannot fine elsewhere. read more

We have called and been by several times, trying to get a price on some carpet. The Lowe's folks were supposed to call the manufacturer to get information. We stopped by again today to inquire. The folks in the carpet department looked at us blankly when we asked how we might get the information we need. Sort of a collective shrug. Very frustrating. read more

From Lowes Store # 0426, on Walnut St. in Cary, I ordered carpet, padding, and installation. Paid $35 to have room measured. When I returned, after measurements were received, SOMEHOW the total charge went up over $65....due to this being a "small job", they tacked on an UPCHARGE!!! More money for less work!!!??? We were never told about this. And we WERE given a GRAND TOTAL when we ordered the carpet. They knew when we placed the order that we were only carpeting 1 room!!! Wendell, who entered in our order, was RUDE. The only reason we still bought the carpet (cancelling the installation and the padding) was because of the 18 month interest free financing that was available. Another ridiculous requirement is that in order to get the installation, we HAD to buy padding. Our existing padding is fine!! Also, one more thing we were NOT informed of, is that because we cancelled the installation, the $35 for the measuring was not deducted from the total amount. I had brought the room measurements with me...but the reps insisted that in order to provide installation services, they HAD to send out their own person to measure. After picking up this carpet in two weeks, we will NEVER go back to Lowes again. read more

Horrible Store Management. Ordered next day delivery of a washer/dryer. 13 days later still waiting. Getting the run around from management, won't return phone calls. Lied to. Incredible incompetence and and deceitful store manager. He should be no more than a stock boy. actually he would be an insult to good stock boys everywhere.. shameful as Lowes is normally so good. Thinking of driving to Corporate Headquarters to personally speak to someone so this doesn't just get blown off. Serious management issues at this store. I live very near this Lowe's but I drive to the Apex Beaver Creek Lowe's for anything I need from Lowe's. The service and attitude at this store is terrible, the staff is rude, the staff is NOT knowledgeable about their area, it's just not worth the hassle and aggravation so I drive to Apex. read more

We just moved into a new house last week, so we bought most our blinds, washer, dryer, carpet, paint and a lot of stuff in Lowe's (2000 Walnut Street, Cary, NC 27518). However we will never go back any Lowe's anymore. Your company has the worst cashiers of all. Their attitude was terrible. They are not friendly at all. We bought something that wasn't discounted properly. We told the cashier and her attitude was very rude and unhelpful. The same situation happened twice with different cashiers. Don't try to call the store to find out any product info. You will be put thru to the department you want, but NO ONE WILL ANSWER. Then you callback and explain that NO ONE answered after waiting for 5 minutes, GUESS WHAT THEY DO? You got it - they put you thru to the department and you wait and wait and wait and NO ONE answers. Horrific service. I bought a dishwasher from them. I specifically chose one that was in stock for a quick install. I was never called to set up an appointment in the 48 hour window they had given me. I had to contact them to get my appointment. They called me on the day my appointment one week later and told me it "was out of stock" and they would have to reschedule. (I had made sure the dishwasher was in stock when I purchased it). They said it wouldn't be delivered to the store for yet another week then I would have to wait for another call (like the first one that never came) from the to schedule the install. The woman with the install company, Whitney, was incompetent at best and downright rude at her worst. Absolutely appalling service. I got a full refund and I cannot wait to bring my business to Home Depot for anything from a roll of tape to my next re-model or big appliance purchase. read more

I have never had a worse customer service experience in my ENTIRE LIFE. I ordered a water heater with installation from this Lowe's. I gave them all the information on my unit, my plumbing everything, and had the whole thing set up for an install by 9 AM on a Thursday. They guarantee that if call before noon the water heater will be installed that day. Multiple times in setting this up the Lowe's service people told me they would be calling back, but never did. I always had to call in myself to get more information. I was finally contacted by a plumber who tried to tell me that they weren't going to be able to install it until Friday, despite having been guaranteed that it would be put in on Thursday. I told them this was unacceptable, and they told me they would get it done on Thursday. They called and confirmed the time, but the plumber NEVER SHOWED UP. They finally rescheduled for Saturday morning, but when they showed up they had gas water heater not an electric. They took one look at my plumbing and told me they were not allowed to do the install by lowes as I have polybutylene piping in my unit. This was despite me giving ALL THIS INFORMATION TO LOWES AT THE BEGINNING. I have never in my life had to deal with such terrible customer service and will never be using Lowes for anything ever again. read more
