Fantastic, locally-owned and run shoe repair shop. They are fast and willing to work with you on a tight turnaround if asked. The quality of repair is better than I have experienced at any other shop in town. Willing and capable of fixing any and everything from the cheap pair of shoes that you love and wearout often, to the really expensive, intricate pair that you might be nervous to trust someone with repairing. Incredible leather knowledge and workmanship. Many of my girlfriends will only take their designer bags here for cleaning and repair. It's our go-to for resoling my fiancée's dress shoes as well. I'm going to be the WARNING review. I had not leather sandals that had stretched. He said so you want to add Velcro. I said it's not that simple. I put them on. I showed him what had to be done and asked if it was possible for them to do it. I repeated it has to be cut out and Velcro added to other section. He said he could. Pay up front $42. Since just adding Velcro should only cost $10-20 I assumed he understood the technicality. I wanted them for a trip. I picked them up and when I tried them the next day I realized he hadn't listened to a word I said and just added Velcro to the overstretched strap. In fact they were even worse and totally unwearable. I was so disgusted I kept forgetting about it. There are signs in every inch of the shop that say absolutely no refunds. So why bother going into speak to him. I'm always struggling for money and don't want the aggravation of their arrogance. So maybe if it's leather? Anything else complicated you will be screwed read more

Well, they're just the BEST shoe and handbag repair guys in the city! Plus the main Man at Man Mur is hilarious! They have an amazing selection of flip-flops, Rainbow, Reef, Oulaki, Birkenstocks in every color shade and size. When you say you have a question and the reply is "You may not like the answer.", it's a complete turnoff. I continued with the question boot care products and was queried as to the brand of boots I had. I mentioned the name (which I won't mention here, but, anyone in the shoe care industry would be aware of) the response was "I don't know anything about " __________" (brand). I explained what I was trying to accomplish and was rather pushed off to rather disorganized rack of shoe care products. I made a choice and completed the purchase. Some underlying issues on this person's part and I was annoyed but not going to be blown off by some yay-hoo! I found this business on Yelp after I needed the handle on my luggage repaired. They had good reviews so I decided to have them fix my luggage. When I dropped my luggage off I was given a price to fix my my luggage. I was told that the cost had to be paid prior to the luggage being fixed and that it would take a week to complete the repair. I paid the fee and Robert began writing a receipt for my payment but he spelled my name wrong so I told him the correct spelling. Instead of writing what I told him and correcting the receipt he crossed it out and just wrote "A" & my last name. I waited nine days for them to call & say my luggage had been repaired. I didn't hear anything so I called to check on the status. I spoke to Steve & he said that it wasn't done & he would try to have it done in the next couple of days. I needed to repair shoes. I had a pair of booties that heel cap was ruined. I purchased a pump that was a little too snug even after going up a size and wearing them. I brought them in to be stretched. The clasp on a chunk heel pump came detached. I also needed that piece reattached. All of my shoe repairs were completed for a reasonable price by Man Mur. For at least one job I had been to other locations and no one could repair it. They turned me down on the spot. In less than 10 minutes the gentleman at Man Mur Shoe Shop replaced the heel cap on my bootie. I was able to take at least one shoe back home. I left two which were repaired in a few days. I came back and picked those up. I'm pleased with the service and the work here. The staff is kind, professional, and truly appreciative of customers' business. The kindness and professionalism go a long way with me. I feel a warm family feel when I visit. I appreciate this type of warmth from a Business I'm spending money with and entrusting to resolve the issues (Shoe issues- "smile"). I was devastated when I found a vertical tear on my favorite boots. As they're suede I was sure they were goners. Most shoe repair stores in the area had several scary sounding reviews except for this one, so I figured it would be worth my time to drive 20 minutes into Raleigh and see if they could save me a trip to Nordstroms. Initially the guy behind the counter said he didn't think they could be savaged, but wanted to ask his boss's opinion. And he thought he could repair the tear to the tune of $16! He warned me it would be a cross stitch, so slightly visible, but as it was next to the zipper in the back I was ok with that. I should've taken a before picture, but here's a side by side. Yes, the repair is visible, but a whole lot better than a gash and a lot cheaper than buying a new pair. They even have a parking lot! I will always take my repairs here. read more

BUYERS BEWARE!! I'm a really good customer of Man Mur and their repairs are top notch! However a few days ago I bought a pair of shoes, wore them in the house twice, they didn't fit I brought them back, the guy looked them over and refunded my money because they were not worn, he called me 10 minutes later and said the owner said they were too worn and he could not resell them. THEY WEREN'T WORN AT ALL!!!! I am furious really upset because they were $145 which takes me sometimes three days to earn and I would never wear a pair of shoes that didn't fit outside which is what they accused me of doing. I had to turn my car around go back get the shoes so I could hopefully sell them on my own and recoup my money. I will never ever buy a pair shoes from them again because obviously they won't even take back brand-new shoes that they sold to me. In the days of Amazon and chewy.com and so many places that take back anything- these guys need to get up to speed especially when a product they sold someone was never worn. They didn't even offer to do an exchange!!!! I know they are a small business, I own a small business but if someone is not happy with the services that I've given them I always always refund their money. Or at least give them a service for free. I'm super upset about how they handled this. They have lost a 20 plus year customer. read more

My leather knee-high boots were in desperate need of a polish, so after a quick Yelp search I found these guys near NCSU. I dropped my shoes off here, and a day later they were ready. They looked brand new! Absolutely worth the $16, as I feel like they have new life in 'em. They even fixed a little dent I had in the heel without extra charge. I arrived just before 5:00 PM on Saturday due to the weather and was greeted like an old friend and not someone who arrived minutes before closing. Despite this reality, and because you're reading a review of a shoe shop I'm guessing that you might be like me where you wear one pair more than the rest. These are your go to shoes. Like that black dress or blue suit in your closet. New to Raleigh, I found Man Mur Shoe Shop on what else, Yelp! There's ample parking in front of the shop and a large table of on sale shoes before you walk through the front door (not a great selection on that table). The place sells shoes, but it appears the real business is the shoe repair that happens in the back of the store. I left my pair of shoes behind for a heal replacement and felt like they were in good hands. As I walked out I couldn't help but check out the shoes they had for sale. Good thing I stopped in during lunch, I had little time to browse and add to my shoe collection. Small, but decent variety. Prices were pretty high, but it's a small business so you should be getting a more custom selection to choose from. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I didn't have enough time to gauge that. The work I had done is really very good and I am very happy with what I brought home. Man mur took on a soft shell and hardshell guitar case as well as another accessory case that needed a few repairs. Definitely things that would fall outside their typical scope of work, and I felt as though they were helping me out by taking them on. When I dropped them off, I was provided a ball park estimate that was fair with the caveat that it may be off base depending on how complicated the repairs were. I understood and we agreed. I picked them up today, and like I said, very pleased with the work. Especially with the hardshell guitar case. This is a vintage piece and is matched to an instrument I have and they breathed new life into it. When I was checking out, I was told the repair cost a bit more than we had collectively anticipated. I had no problem until I learned the repairs were $50 more than anticipated. The total repair cost came close to doubling. I didn't know what to do, and I'm not the type to get angry in a store, so I paid my bill, grabbed my stuff and left. I'm not upset about the cost. I'm upset that an increase that high wasn't communicated to me until I picked it up. People should be compensated fairly for services, and if it was more work, I understand. It was being blindsided with it when I picked my items up that kind of sucked. It may have influenced my decision, it may not. read more
