Not to be upstaged by the "other" home improvement store that spews orange all over the place, this place actually has PEOPLE to HELP you! Yes, folks, you don't have to high tail to one end of the store to the other, to no avail, to not find a single soul who works there. You then realize you look like all the other idiots searching for someone in an orange apron. You don't have to worry about that here! Every time I go here, the staff are very helpful and available (unlike their competition). Snowblower broke 2 days before a major 2' storm and they had 3 in stock plus will deliver. Ordered on a Sunday evening and it was delivered at 9:15AM the following day. Can't beat that. They couldn't fix the handles on the fridge door because the holes the guy drilled were almost sideways and putting in new ones wouldn't work...so we're stuck with that. The worst customer service you can imagine. Their saw has been out of commission for weeks in the lumber department. The first time I called the store, I discussed exactly what I wanted in terms of cuts and sizes, but not once did the representative mention that the saw was down. So, I got all excited and took a trip out there. I finally get to the store, and received the whiff of such apathetic workers. In a wide field, this is by far the worst big box store in the area. In November, I ordered something online that was to be delivered to the store and for nearly two months, they had no tracking information or an estimated arrival date. Then in the middle of January, I received an email that the item had arrived in the store and was ready for pick up. I went the next day and stood around while people looked for it and eventually, after half an hour, I thanked them for looking and told them I had to go because I had other things to do that day, and they said they would call me when they found it. About five days later, I received an email saying I needed to pick up the item the following day or it would be sent back. I tried calling the store all day to tell them that I couldn't make it down the next day, and no one ever answered the phone. I called the main customer service number and they couldn't help because they said it was a store issue. So now, after all this time, I guess my item had been returned and hopefully, I'll see a refund. The lack of customer service is stunning. In the future, I would gladly pay more to shop at a store that has the slightest bit of regard for my time. read more

I had a custom order and install done through Lowe's in Dedham. I used them (20 miles away), as I had such a horror show experience with my local Home Depot trying to do the same project. I cannot say enough about how pleasant, knowledgeable and professional the staff at Lowe's Dedham are. This was an $1,100 project that they treated like an $111,000 project. Just a great experienece. I said yes I purches four cases of pepsi and I was charged to much I showed her and she said that I had to wait for the other lady. I had a new roof installed from Lowe's. The work itself was good. I didn't have to wait that long for the roof to be installed. The workers showed up on time and did a good job. However Lowe's was supposed to pick the extra supplies after they finished the job and they never did. Even though I had contacted them multiple times about this. Finally I drove to Lowe's and returned the extra supplies itself. Poor customer service at the end is the main reason they got 3 stars instead of 4 or 5. read more

Be very careful ordering any contract work through this Lowe's. The sales people are very accommodating, but once they have your deposit, be prepared for disorganization, slow service and subpar service. We ordered fencing for our yard to be installed. They delivered the supplies in March, dumped it on the grass( well, snow) with no notice and it sat for two months with no action. When the installers finally arrived 10 week's later they noticed key concrete for the gate posts was not there. No answer from their supervisor, the sales rep, and the the store staff passed our concern to the store manager who wouldn't commit to a redo date. The only thing they did well was to remove the supplies when we asked for a completion date or our money back. No communication as of today re when our refund will come. Ordered items online for store pickup. First occasion I spent an hour in the store to get my items and check out. Staff could not find order, though I actually got a call telling me it was ready. Second occasion however, again, staff could not find order, and started to put together the order from items off the shelf, and did not have 2 of the items. They told me sorry we don't have them and I should come back another time. Again wasting my time. No point calling their customer service number or speaking to their managers. Both parties just wanted me to keep my order and re-collect them at the store. If you have time on your hands, then this is a great place to loose some of it. read more

If I could give this a NEGATIVE 5 I would...worst customer experience of my life. Went in to the Dedham, MA store last Sunday and was told that a project manager would call within 48 hours to set an appt for our bathroom remodel. Wondering why no call after 60 hours, I called into the store Wednesday and asked for the man's number to call him directly and was given the wrong number TWICE. Giving up on a phone call from him, we went in again tonight. After being ignored for over half an hour were finally spoken to and told "I'll go get someone" by a younger guy. While my boyfriend waited, I went to look at paint and I see the guy, who is supposedly "going to get help", with his vest off, sitting around eating. On my way back to tell my boyfriend, I asked another guy if he could assist us and I was directed to a woman who proceeded to yell at me in the most unpleasant tone that "she was already helping 6 other people and she was too busy" even though no other customers anywhere near her. She was so rude that the other employee looked at me with a horrified face and apologized for her harsh and unneccessary behavior. Then after leaving that area, I saw my boyfriend talking to two guys who weren't doing anything AT ALL and they told us to go back to customer service. So we go back to the front and after another fifteen minutes of waiting around with NO help or even any acknowledgement that we were waiting, we decided to leave. Worst customer service experience I've ever had. Not only will I not be going back to Lowes, I will make sure all my friends, family, coworkers and clients who are property managers, contractors and construction company owners do not go either. read more

We went to buy a Christmas tree and the sales associate Joshua recommended putting the tree inside the car. What?? Who ever in their right mind puts the tree inside the car. He couldn't lift the tree without my father's help, he didn't know how to tie it, and was like we don't do things like this here. I asked who the manager was only to confirm that these services were actually not a requirement and Joshua answered with "he's inside, why?" After an initial bad experience with miscommunication and delays in shipping our new washer/dryer (communication was the issue, the delay was related to LG and the supply chain, not to Lowe's), Kristen, one of the managers, went out of her way to make things right. Issues outside the store's control happen, and you can't blame them for that, but Kristen didn't make excuses and went out of her way to make us whole. Can't ask for more! read more

Place the order for patio set they said if I wanted assemble it takes 5 days and someone will call me tonight before for 2 hour window no one never called I started calling them no answer finally got Lowes they gave me the delivery companies number they didn't answer next day of delivery finally got in touch with Lowe's and tell me you don't have to be home how you going to get in to put on my patio it was one issue after another bottom line is still don't have the patio set paid my money sorry I went against my better judgement and went to Lowe's. Windows...I saw a review in here about the Dedham store about Todd and the window department. I had already purchased 18 Pella 350 replacement windows for a condo we are renovating (don't ask why I was still reading reviews after purchase...type a...ocd etc). Anyhew, I had the exact opposite experience. The windows came out amazing. The install was seamless. You have to have some patience with projects this big. The initial delivery date was slightly delayed although that worked out for us. If you can be flexible with scheduling and you don't have a set date you absolutely need windows in by, go with Lowes. They'll save you thousands on the cost of Pella windows. The 350s are beautiful windows. Great function with amazing sound and temp control. They took out the old windows and counter weights, and put in the replacements. They all looked amazing. Now if you're doing replacement windows and you're removing old storm windows on the outside...be prepared to need to repaint/repair the outside trim. You're using REPLACEMENT windows...not replacing the WHOLE window which would include the frame. Just prepare that you're going to need to paint the outside frame and possibly touch up a few spots. The carpenter who did the install with Todd was fantastic. I also learned that customers will often complain at Lowes to get a discount off the final price as they're a big box store. There is clearly no honesty left in people today. So to summarize: 1. If you're looking for replacement pella windows (oh and there is no difference between the pella windows sold by pella dealers...I checked into this...extensively) you cannot go wrong with Lowes in Dedham. 2. Expect that install date won't be perfect and you'll just be happy 3. You're doing a major renovation on your house if you're doing this, be prepared for hiccups and delays etc. 4. Be prepared to need to touch up/repaint frames...you're replacing the window...not the frame... read more

Gave them one star for answering the phone.I called to see if they had a childs rake in stock and someone named Tom or I thought he said Tom turns out his name is BOB. I know this because he continued to speek to a fellow worker while the phone had not disconnected.Talked about all sorts of thing and not depending on someone to call 911. Just a bunch of unprofessional junk. He told me there were plenty in stock but told that same worker there was only one. I called the store to talk to the manager and after the fifth time asking he answered and he HUNG UP before I could start speaking. I got what I wanted on sale plus I got a lot of attitude from an older Hispanic female with white/yellowed hair in a bun and tattoos on her left forearm and right hand in paint dept. I didn't even know she was working there because she was sitting on a 5 gallon paint container on her smart phone seemingly entertaining herself and a young Hispanic male in a lime green tee shirt and black hat, longish black hair, and with what I call an Amish beard. She was not wearing a Lowe's vest or an ID badge. She was wearing a navy blue shirt. She never asked me if I needed help when I arrived at the paint desk, but did butt in after I was helped by Nel, who was helping everyone. She was doing nothing. She butt in when she did need to. When I answered her question by saying "It's mine. Black." She actually said "brown?" I don't know how black sounds like brown. I said "black" louder. Man who was helping me (ID said "Nel") gave me a look. It might have been for my own safety, if this woman went off. She started mumbling under her breath about me loud enough for me to hear. Here's some advise for you older Hispanic female, and I hope you can read: How about you get up off your butt and serve customers instead of having Nel do all the work?. When she realized I was continuing to watch her, Nel started giving her things to do, and she pretended she was working but seemed unable to follow through on his requests. I get to the cash register and I ask the girl if she gave me the sale price. She checks and says yes. After the transaction is over I check my receipt and she charged me for 2 cans of paint. I tell her. She seems surprised. I go to customer service. Now I get some attitude over there as well. Over here I am talking through a mask and plexiglass is up, so I am talking loud, and, yes, I am upset. Older white man waiting on me makes some comment about me. Very large Hispanic girl to my right, again a blue shirt, who seemed to be working there but was not wearing red Lowe's vest makes some comment to me, about me. You know how people from certain cultures do that? Butt in when it's none of their business? When she realized I was looking at her, she never again looked me in the eye. I had just been overcharged by $40 and these two morons think that's funny or I shouldn't be upset. I've been to this location more than a few times and while I find it cleaner and a bit more efficient than Home Depot, it's still tough. I just called 3 times - phone rang 15+ times on call #1. I hung up, called again and after ten rings someone answered to transfer me and hang up on me! The third time, I got the same person who transferred me to someone who wasn't in the Dept. I needed (Rental) but was nice enough to walk over to the "specialist" who apparently wasn't answering his phone. He found the person and after waiting for another 5 minutes, while they perused the shelves; I was told that they don't have it. Really? You couldn't look that up online? Ordered a new dryer online - the website said it was in-stock and that I would be contacted next day to setup delivery. Never heard from anyone. By the time I called them a few days later they could find no record of my order (I had the order number from the email confirmation) and the item was not in stock anyway. I am guessing they cancelled the order on their own and never told me. On plus side they didn't charge my credit card. They need better integration between stores and online inventory. read more

I had delivery scheduled for my new refrigerator from Lowes. It was scheduled for 12:20- 2:30 slot, I had to leave work early to be at home. The delivery company had called and delayed the delivery twice, so I have been waiting all day, and now have to pay extra to my babysitter, so I she can stay with my 15 moths old in order for me to have this delivery after 6 pm. It is absolutely outrageous and really poor customer service. I am truly disappointed and will never shop at Lowes again. read more

Zero is not a choice or else that would be how many stars I give this place. This place is the worst for ordering items and getting them delivered. In the past 6 months I have had 2 horrible experiences with ordering items online and in store and getting them delivered. The first was when I special ordered a screen door for the front of my house on the website. They called to schedule delivery and I waited at home all day and it never came. When I called the next day they said it was delivered and someone signed for it. I said obviously not possible since I was home waiting for it all day. The story then changed to it was delivered and left on the side of the house, which I stated was impossible since there was a large bush/tree that had not been trimmed in over a year so there was noway it was there. Then the story changed to it was left on the side of the house in the driveway. Well I do not have a drive way on the side of my house but come to find out they delivered it to my old address (def not the one I choose when scheduling a delivery I have not lived there in years) when I tried to drive over and see if it was there it was not. Then the story changed to it was brought back to the store so the next day I went to the store and guess what it was not there. I got my $ back drove right over to Home Depot and bought a door had it delivered next day no problem. The most recent event happened just yesterday when I called to find out why in 2 weeks I have not received a call to schedule delivery. I gave the benefit of the doubt knowing it was a long weekend but come Thursday I was getting suspicious. After being left on hold and hung up on multiple times over 25 minutes I finally got a human to answer and she asked for my number said I wasn't in the computer, asked my name and said I was not in the computer. I stated I knew I was in the computer twice because they had screwed up a delivery before and when I was at the store I asked for the old address to be deleted out and was told their system did not allow that. I then gave her my receipt number which she took put me on hold for another 5 minutes then said she would call me back. When she called me back she had found my order but said that the appliance associate that put in the order when I was at the store on 8/27 did not put it in as a delivery but as an I drove away with it. To which I responded how is that possible since it was not in stock and I paid for a delivery pick up of old washer machine? Obviously she had no answer and said they could delivery it Saturday. Which did not work for me since I have to work so the delivery was going to be made 9/10 2 full weeks after purchase. When I explained that I have not been able to do laundry for 2 weeks I need it now she finally agreed to deliver it today. I am also to receive a $50 credit but for a $600 purchase and this big of a screw up I am not holding my breath. Suffice to say I am still waiting for the delivery. I have the patience of a saint since I also work in retail and do not appreciate being sworn at/yelled at for something that I have no control over however my store does not keep people on hold for 20 plus minutes and hang up on them multiple times. So I was most likely not the kindness person on the phone to the women who finally figured out the issue to her I am sorry, to the man who screwed up my order I am not. read more

I ordered an in-stock item on www.lowes.com. The website showed 7 in-stock. The product was discountinued but clearly available for purchase online. Later, a store rep. call to informed me they cannot find the product immediately, likely didn't have it and would be forced to refund my money. The agreed to look again or locate one at another store and if that failed I would be contacted by a manager. About 15 minutes later another rep. (not a manager) called to deliver the same information as the first rep. However this rep. was uninformed, rude and non-apologetic. Ultimately a manager informed me I could buy a lesser product at the same price...clearly a bait and switch. I notified Lowe's customer support who informed me I would be contacted within 24 hrs to resolve the issue. It has been 4 days without contact. read more

Incompetent. Dishonest. Outrageous. 1 star is generous. I would write all the details of dealing with both Lowes and their incompetent delivery company, but no one would believe it. The amount of excuses and outright lies from both of them to bring a refrigerator is almost comical. Suffice it to say that we bought a fridge on Monday (President's Day), which was supposed to be delivered on Tuesday, and it's now Sunday, and we still haven't gotten it. We've been promised this fridge every day for 6 days; obviously, we were the suckers to believe them in the first place. We were told they would call, they didn't. We were told they came, they didn't (do you think we wouldn't have noticed if they came or not??). They even supposedly came 40 minutes earlier than the window they gave, but they never rang the door bell or called. When WE call Lowes, they tell us that there's too much snow. We agreed to have it cleaned, which we did; we spent 3 1/2 hours clearing out all the snow and ice, and widening the area so that you could have fit a mack truck through the front door. Then they said between 10-12, then 12-2, then 1-3, and then never came or called. WE again called both Lowes and the delivery company and they stopped answering their phone. Finally, after 6 days of this nonsense, Lowes tells us that they have on their manifest that there's too many icicles (B-S!) and we said to have it delivered in mid-March -- what? We never said any such thing. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry. Needless to say, we've cancelled the order and bought the same fridge elsewhere, at the same price. If I can deter anyone from getting anything at Lowe's, this will all have been worth it. What a nut job of a place. Awful awful awful place in every possible way. read more

What a miserable bunch of incompetent people! I can't stress enough how bad this store and all of its employees and contractors are. They delivered an appliance, after dragging it across a walkway then broke the front entry door it had to be returned. No less than 12 calls and still waiting for the full amount of the refund. Still trying to get a new entry door, which will take till Spring while I pay extra heating bills due to the draft they created. They will be paying for the door, but who pays for the aggravation? Love this store and its employees. Yesterday I was looking for a replacement for my refrigerator water filter. Mike from the service department was extremely patient and helpful as he explained first how to use a universal housing wrench, then how to pick out the equivalent non-GE brand. Because the store is busier than other Lowe's or Home Depot stores, I sometimes have to wait, but the service employees are knowledgeable and friendly. read more

I went in to buy a above range microwave. The one i wanted was not in stock so i ordered it, it was supposed to arrive one week later. After a week, no call so i called lowes. Associate said 3 other persons in front of me so my microwave would be in the next week. After the second week again no call, i decided to wait another week which would be week 3. Still no call so i decided to just cancel the order. i called lowes customer care and asked to cancel my order, they said a manager from the store would have to do this and they would call me 1 or 2 days later. I finally get a call from the store 1 week later which shows how poor lowes associate and management store level is. By then i already cancelled my order through my credit card so i had no reason to listen to any excuses from the store management. 0 STARS! I had to return antenna cables I bought because they would break too easily. I Bought at least 9 cables on three different occasions. 4 cables broke and after looking at them it was obvious why. I returned 2 cables with no problem when I brought back 5 others, two of which broke in removal, the customer agent Ali was dismissive. She said the manager could do nothing for me. She said I had to wait for the electric dept. manager. One thing I know is the store manager is more powerful than any dept manager but i waited for the non responsive dept manager. I am in there at least a dozen times a week and I know some people well . I know that they are very understaffed and frequently don't have anyone in a given dept. I waited until I could not wait any longer and asked Ali to call over the store manager. She was dismissive again. Well I own rental units and do good business with Lowe's and Home depot. Wow I was not at all impressed with this Lowe's location. I went to pickup a refrigerator I had ordered and it took them forever to find it. I won't even go into the horrible service I received while ordering the fridge over the phone because I'll be typing this review all day. When they finally found it, the guy at the pickup desk told the cashier it was paid for and she STILL badgered me for a receipt, which I couldn't produce seeing as I had ordered it OVER THE PHONE, like did you not hear him? It's also against Lowe's policy to badger people like that. I walked out of there with my parents, with whom I'd gone, and my mother simply said "Wow". Didn't even want to ask for a loader because I knew that'd be even MORE time wasted and another person asking me for a goddamn receipt. I worked for Lowe's for a few years and we would have NEVER have drawn this out and have been soo rude as the employees in the store. I also knew literally exactly what needed to be done in the computer screen, right down to the exact screens these people needed to use (since, again, I worked at a Lowe's). If someone had written down the location in the proper screen it would have been easier to find. I heard rumors that this particular Lowe's might close. I can't say I'm sad to hear that. read more

3PD - 3 Painful Deliveries After botching delivery twice, we finally got our washing machine that we ordered 18 days ago. What a nightmare! My wife called the Dedham store specifically to order a washing machine from a human rather on online....ya know, should there be any customer service related questions or helpful hints. The woman she spoke with did not ask any questions when taking the order for our new front-loading washing (I see you're ordering a front-loading machine and would like us to remove the old unit. Is there a dryer stacked on top of your current washer? Does that dryer happen to be gas? If so, you will need a plumber to disconnect the gas as it is illegal (we later found out) for our delivery team to do it. Those would have been the right questions to ask! But alas, the 3PD delivery team from Lowe's shows up with the new washer and can't install it. They graciously offered to put it back on the truck where it potentially could be sold out from underneath us....even though we already paid for it? No thanks. Put it in the basement for now. Flash forward a week. The gas dryer has now been disconnected and it's time to reschedule that washer installation. I call 3PD toll-free hell hotline and after holding for 5 minutes get a woman who can't wait to get me off the phone. I attempt to explain the circumstances of our failed delivery/installation, but she keeps cutting me off. I finally have to interrupt her and say, "I am trying to explain this to you, will you please let me finish my sentence!" She doesn't, really. But I end the conversation feeling mildly confident she understands the washer has been delivered, but not installed. Boy was I wrong... My wife leaves early for work to be available for the afternoon delivery....and no one shows up. She calls 3PD to find out that "Well, no one came by, because there wasn't a washer on the truck." You've got to be F'n kidding me! I can't wait for the day when they invent phones portable enough to carry them around in your pocket should situations arise where you might need to call a customer and ask a question! So at this point, I call Lowe's appliance dept. where I get connected to German, the Manager. Great guy. Smart, courteous, very apologetic, and does everything he can to help rectify the situation. I feel for this guy. Surrounded by incompetence, probably has to either do most things himself or end up fixing everyone else's mistakes. Anyway, he and I figure out a way to retro-fit the current dryer stacking kit that's on the existing washer to the new machine so that the dryer will stack securely. Not rocket science, but he even went so far as to call Frigidaire for compatibility and email me pictures of parts. Great. Now back in the arthritic hands of 3PD. Schedule a 3rd delivery attempt (I now know where they get their name) for Tues 6/17 between 2-4pm. 2pm rolls around, not here. No biggie, probably aren't gonna be early. 3pm, still nothing, but they have an hour. 4pm....and they blew it again! Call 3PD again to find out that they are on their way. Thank God! Installation goes pretty smoothly. The lead guy forgot that he put his paperwork in the machine so that got a good wash when he tested it out, but other than that all is good. Now the coup de grace....3PD's number (which I now know by heart, by the way) pops up on my phone. Its a customer satisfaction survey! "Press 5 for Completely Satisfied, Press 1 if Not Satisfied At All. Again 5 being Completely Satisfied, 1 being......" Call ended. 3PD - so incompetent, we can't even get our automated satisfaction survey right! Botom line, would I shop at Lowe's again....probably. Absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had for anything! Ordered stackable washer and dryer 3 months ago and LG took 2 months (backordered) which I was fine with. Finally schedule to have them delivered in Boston (south end) condo in a 3 story walk up and the first driver refuses to deliver them because I need a stacking kit, hoses and adapter. (later found out the stacking kit comes with the set). Basically he didn't want to bring them up. Called Lowes and told them to just add the parts and rescheduled. Second time now I stay home between the hours the delivery company called the night before to confirm and at the hour I get a call from Lowe's saying the delivery company's contract won't deliver above the fourth floor. After a heated discussion and explaining we are on the third floor he calls back the delivery company (XPO Logistics Last mile) and they assure me they'll get delivered and reschedule for the following week. Week 3 I once again stay home from work to receive delivery and they show up. This time the driver complains there's no parking (there's plenty of room to double park) and he doesn't want to get a ticket so in the meantime he spends 25 minutes contacting his supervisor to get out of making the delivery. I have had a dishwater and Refrigerator delivered to my home before and never had any of these issues. They then lie to the delivery manager at Lowes saying there are signs that say no double parking which anyone familiar with Boston knows there aren't. I called Lowe's delivery and once again they say they will personally look into it and resend the washer and dryer the next day so now for the 4TH time I stay home and once again at the final hour now the Lowes manager calls me to make excuses that they can't park these large trucks in the the city of Boston and that they are looking for a smaller truck and once they do that they will reschedule. That was the final straw! I've been more than patient but these people are idiots. For god's sake they have a truck rental department!! And on top of that didn't even make any attempt to compensate me for the frustration and time wasted waiting. I blame XO Logistics as much for this fiasco as Lowe's and in the future will check with any of these stores to make sure my delivery isn't by those lazy @#$#! http://www.xpo.com/services/last-mile read more
