The gardening department is fully stocked and beautifully merchandised. There is a great variety of plants, bushes and everything you can imagine for your home and garden. There was only one knowledgeable person working in this very large department with a lot of customers, waiting for assistance and to check out. this review is for an 18 cu. ft. frigidaire refrigerator with with a top freezer. it was delivered to my tenants with a dent on the door, and a wavy imperfection from the factory on the left side. the dent was not done by the delivery crew, (who incidentally did a great job), because the dent was there from the factory. bought the refrigerator from lowes in derby, ct., purchased an extended warranty from lowes, and contacted the warranty company within the 48hr window. they did not honor the extended warranty because they said it was an issue that should be handled by frigidaire. i was also told that they would not take it back because i did not purchase it with a lowe's card. contacted frigidaire and they didn't do anything because they said the model was discontinued. they said to call lowe's!! called lowe's in derby and spoke to a rude associate who said a manager would return my call, but no one called me. i was offered a measly $50 lowes gift card. i cancelled the extended warranty and kept the refrigerator because i didn't want to inconvenience my tenants any further. i have never experienced such terrible customer service from a company as large as lowe's. i've heard complaints about the company, but thought they were isolated incidents. obviously the company culture needs an overhaul, and they can start with the derby, ct store! read more

The store was so dirty. From display tools to shelf items to the floor. And, one person was floating around talking to fellow employees, but literally turned his back on us when we asked a question. People are just not into their job there. Some were, I would say if the 10 people I spoke with, two took the time to check on an item. read more

No, i wouldn't recommend Lowe's at all for any home improvements. I had them install carpet in two rooms in my second floor. The installers were incompetent. I have wrinkles in my carpets. They said I moved the furniture too much...not the case. My furniture has not moved since I got it. The installers did a lousy job. It was stretched enough or installed properly. Lowe's installed a Larson storm door for me this past Winter. They did a terrible job. I had to sand the build out they did. I had to install strips of PVC and caulk all the open spaces between the door jam and storm door frame plus other fine finishing work. I should have done it myself. I could have done a better job. We went into this store, spent time with a kitchen assistant. Ordered a kitchen bundle; fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher, and scheduled delivery approximately 3 weeks later. The appliance bundle Lowe's delivered was completely wrong. Every single appliance! We went into the store and we were told our order had been transferred to New Haven store and it's out of their hands...we need to call that store. We called, and callled and callled, etc...we were hung up on or just left on hold, then hung up on. Finally, they answered and agreed to come pick up the wrong order that following weekend! They came to get the wrong appliances and NEVER delivered new ones. Again, we called and called. Then we get a bill from Lowe's for appliances we don't have and never got. More phone calls. We finally got the credit card bill taken care of, however, we have never heard back from Lowe's as to what happened to our order. No apologies for the inconvenience. DO NOT BUY APPLIANCES HERE! You can't return them if they fail. The website says 90 days returns, but you have to double click to see that APPLIANCES DONT APPLY. In fact, you have 48 hours to return and you need to have the item in it's original packing material, which they haul away when they deliver it. Even if you have the material, there is a 15% restock fee which is $400 on a $2500 refrigerator. Buy from a real appliance store. Even if you pay a little more, you're completely covered. I walked into the Derby store to ask, I was outside the 2 days they did not want to know me. Rude. You give them your business this is what you get. Deceptive sales practices. read more

Where do I start I went yesterday to buy paint and other stuff it was around 4 or 5 pm..not many people in the store but a employees together at the customer service desk. I went in for air filters and water filters and found the water filters in stock. I made my way to self check-out thinking it would be easier and quick and I wouldn't have to bother anyone but Barb went out of her way to offer to check me out and it was such a wonderful experience. With it being the week of Christmas and the crowds at the stores especially now during the pandemic I was dreading this trip to pick up an item my father and I forgot to get here yesterday. Barb really made my day with her exception customer service. She was understanding and patient with me as I use a store credit... even when I didn't get all of the information correct at first. Lowe's is very lucky to have Barb, who seems to be such a valuable member of their team here at this Derby location. The store was calm, quiet and clean prior to 10am the Tuesday before Christmas. Overall I think its garden center is sometimes better, but the most recent visit will keep me away. The cash registers are all non-people. Which is often a big problem. The machines are not friendly, often break down, and when asked why there are no humans checking out customers....she flippantly said something like "that's what everyone is doing. Its the future." This store and most of the Lowes stores have ZERO dependability with regards to delivery. They don't do the delivering. It's hired out to a bunch of idiots. My 90 yr old father wanted to do something kind for me- his daughter- he purchased a washing machine for me and we scheduled delivery - set for yesterday. 8/6/22 a week after purchase. I never received a call with a window for delivery.called the store and was told when they would be coming- between 9-1:30. At 10:30- I received a call from the driver telling me his truck broke down. I'm so thankful I read delivery reviews and was already alerted to this game. I already knew I would be jerked around for the next month or so waiting for delivery. The driver was rude- I was hung up on. I cancelled my order. One hr later I returned to the store so my dad could be refunded his money. The washing machine was in the back. So either the truck was fixed asap and the driver sped to return it to the store or it never left the store. A bunch of incompetents. They have no problem taking your money- don't expect anything for it. A waste of time! I bought the same machine from PC Richards for less and was given the best customer service. Ordered an entire kitchen appliance suite here. Three out of the four came dented, which is pretty upsetting when you buy expensive items and receive less than perfect NEW items. Anyways we decided we could live with them except the stove which we asked to have replaced on an even exchange. Long story short, Lowes wasted our time on 3 different delivery days, each time the "new" stove coming more damaged than the original. I don't even know how this happens. After FOUR stoves were delivered for us, we finally settled on one that was dented out of sight once installed. The best they could do was $100 credit. The only redeeming part was the manager, Georgina, who helped us navigate this incredibly frustrating experience. However lesson learned and will not do this kind of business with them again. I love shopping here. What true guy wouldn't! From screws to nuts, tools, thingamajigs, brushes and the like and not to like, they are here. I could easily get lost in the clouds. Anywhoo, I got out of the store with only spending $94, which made me feel artificially good that the sun was out today, and all was right in the world. I couldn't say the service was great because I went to AI and self served myself. There wasn't enough cashiers was the only reason I ventured to the store robot. I got out quick enough, and there was plenty of parking. I was looking for a grass trimmer and I kid you not there was at least 30 to pick from. The price range was $29 upwards to $300+. It was fun, but now I have work to do. First I'll cut the grass and then I'll try out my new trimmer. If it works good, then I'll do my toes. read more

Ordered materials for an entire bathroom in store. Went to pick up and no one helped us. Staff just sat there and twiddled their thumbs. 30 minutes with no communication and we go to talk to another person at the front desk. She tells us customer service did not start the process. This girl gets things going and they put everything in the truck except the tub. The tub is nowhere to be found and no one is able to help this girl out. Over an hour goes by, mind you, my contractor is charging for this pickup. We asked to speak to a supervisor. Jimmy comes and accuses me of leaving the original staff we were talking to and says that everything has been ready this entire time. I explained that we went back to that desk multiple times and so did other staff members, but he decided to believe his lazy employees who are afraid to get in trouble instead of the customer that was waiting for over an hour. He was rude, unhelpful, and tried to make it seem like it was our fault for the issues they were experiencing. Then when we get home we open the tub and it's the WRONG TUB! I call them and explain the problems that ensued and then they have the nerve to ask me to BRING THE TUB BACK ON MY OWN. Talk about terrible service. Then ended up delivering the tub, but the fact that I had to scream at them to get it is ridiculous. This issue cost me more money and risked my construction timeline. Go to Home Depot. read more

It's nice to have a Lowes in the valley and its ok if you go in person, but never order online for pickup! The first time they screwed up the order and didn't have 2 of the items. Most recently, despite getting an email saying the order was ready, it wasn't! My son had to wait 30 minutes while an employee went to get the few items we ordered. Never again. All I needed were folding doors. I went to the door aisle, but just could not find what I was looking for. No one was at the "desk" in the door aisle. I aimlessly walked up and down every aisle of the store, finally found people in kitchen section, just to be told to go back to the aisle (I knew I needed to be) and someone would be at the desk that help me, but again no one was there... I did finally find someone stocking shelves in door, that knew exactly what I was asking for (I did not know it was called folding door; so the fact he understood my description is giving an extra star here, lol) He was very friendly too. The customer service representative just watched my daughter and I waiting there like we didn't exist. Bought a grill and paid for its delivery which should have been done on the Saturday morning (had a planned function for the Sunday evening which was communicated to them). Made several calls to both Lowe's and delivery company after not receiving the grill and got the 'run around'. At about 10:30 pm on Sunday, one of our guests was leaving and saw a damaged grill in our driveway. A replacement was delivered on the Tuesday morning. I had some paint mixed here. Same paint color on same brand. Colors were different.I went to show them pictures and got one replaced. They would not replace the other can. I ended up shelling hundreds to get the room painted because the colors were so different. They did not even give me the curtesy to give me the can as a curtesy although I asked. The painting guy ( not sure his name but he had a mustache, short man) refused to give me the can as a courtesy) 45.00 paint can!! My one star is for the one guy in customer service, whom I won't name, who tried to help me yesterday. Thank you, G - you tried. With Covid, I am very hesitant to write negative reviews of folks that have been on the frontlines the whole time, but this was exceptionally bad service and miscommunication. I tried to purchase a floor sample table (at a discounted rate) yesterday. The manager was unavailable to approve the discount, so G said he would call me once the discount was approved and that I could go pick it up when i was ready - he tagged the table with my name and number. G followed up with me as he said he would to let me know that the table was mine. I tried calling back to let G know that I wanted the table and was hung up on, not once, but three times, by three different departments! I called again this morning to confirm that my husband would be going to pick up the table and was told "no problem." After an hour of waiting for the "missing" table - my husband was told it was no longer there and that they couldn't "hold" merchandise that wasn't "sold." Well, they won't be "holding" onto this customer any more either. Complete waste of time and miscommunication. Thank you G - you tried. read more

No call. The second time at 6:15 pm was told the truck had a heavy load today and just left the store. And that someone was calling everyone expecting deliveries. Lowes, Derby, Ct. Their kitchen department has the worst, most incompetent person named Marge working in their kitchen department. The wrong color kitchen cabinet was delivered so we went back to the store to correct the situation. An order was supposed to be placed with the correct color. This was for a new construction so it was important to have the correct cabinet as soon as possible so as not to delay the other trades waiting for the kitchen install. About 6 days later my husband checked the status of the order and Marge told him she hadn't placed the order because she was too busy and hadn't gotten around to it. In addition the granite place for counters that Lowes uses called the store for authorization on an additional charge for a backsplash. Until they got the authorization they could not order the counters. The granite place called Lowes, spoke to Marge, and requested she call us for the authorization. Again my husband checked on the status of the counter only to be told the call was placed to Lowes 6 days prior and Marge never called us. When asked about it she said she thought she remembered something about our counters. This added another 2 week delay for the counters to be installed. She also ordered wrong parts, forgot to order parts and lied about it. Had my husband not checked into all of this himself we would still be waiting. Needless to say the completion of the house was delayed 4 weeks because of her incompetence, laziness and stupidity. The worst part....it was not a big deal to her and she did not apologize. If you do not want your kitchen remodel or new install to be screwed up do not use Marge in the Derby, Ct store. read more

Great store. I am not a contractor but am handy and generally know my way around hardware stores, For this Lowe's, items are easily found and staffs were extremely helpful. Much better than the Home Depot nearby. I wonder why people still go to HD. read more
