Products stacked everywhere in the aisles. This store is a mess. Needed a short section of trim molding. The hand saw on the cutting table was in bad shape, I could not make a clean cut with it. Asked one of the employees if they had a better saw, he said "there should be two of them on the table". I said no, there' is only one and it is not good. He just turned and walked away. On the bright side, at least I was not forced to self-checkout and the cashier was very efficient. read more

I was being helped by a cashier named Diana. not only did she have such a wonderful demeanor but she had a way with people. she was the perfect example of what an awesome person hired to do a job is. I am 99 percent sure the employees here wear pedestrian clothing so customers don't ask them questions. After an HOUR of asking people "do you work here?" And getting a reply of "No", my normally classy Dad yelled out loud " djdjdbdjdbejdbedjebdjsbdhjwiwueurb and ejdbdbdbdbdb and sjshshebee8wjsbh????" Actual verbiage not noted so yelp doesn't delete this. Luckily I had a mask on so nobody could see I was related to my irrate father as I sheepishly followed him around the store looking for help. I wasn't medicated enough to yell with him. We eventually figured it out on our own and did self check out. ADVICE: buy an ax and chop your own wood to make your own floor. Tool Rentals - Don't rent things here! I had a confirmed reservation for a garden tool 8/23 and when I arrived they had another customer that called-in for the same tool. He had no reservation but apparently his name written on a tag on the unit. The store manager accepted the tag on the unit rather than my confirmed reservation that they had in the system. The manager just blew me off and made NO attempt to alleviate the situation. I will NEVER shop at this store again. read more

Home Depot motto is You can do it. We can help. but after going to this establishment I can clearly tell they don't stick to it. Not only do none of the employees know where anything is, they are no help and provide a bad attitude. It took me and my partner 40 minutes just to find a vacuum and after asking 3 people who gave us 3 separate locations. We finally found it ON ARE OWN. Don't get me started on checking out. The lady at self checkout was so rude and gave up no help nor support when the system crashed. She kept hovering over us when we where checking out and gave no personal space. A pair of cabinets and a smaller cabinet turned into 3 weeks of absolute hell. Lack of communication, faulty estimate based on wrong information from "C" at HD, arrogant HD contractor who REFUSED to acknowledge what I knew about my own electrical. Delivery dumped on my grass rather than my driveway as requested. Paid a portion with a gift card; gift card $$ was returned; only to be put on a store credit which I could not apply up this purchase. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER do any remodeling with. I would let buy a screw from them EVER again. $300 to pull a permit, when the permit is $65.00 if I did it myself. I was paying for Brett's time and travel to get it. $235.00 for "his services" which absolutely sucked. Stay away from Derby Home Depot. read more

Home Depot sells substandard junk. We bought a Magic Chef fridge. Freezer wouldn't work. Returned and exchanged (real fun, having to load/unload refrigerators). Then second Magic Chef ALSO wouldn't freeze food. Last fall, bought an expensive hose and mobile sprinkler system to water the new grass over winter. Drained it last fall after only 3 uses. This spring, the hose leaks badly, and the sprinkler spews water out the seams and cracks, and not out the nozzles as it should. Every single thing we buy from Home Depot is worthless junk, a scam, and a total waste of money. Will no longer do business there. read more

The majority of what you buy here is made in China and handled extensively by Mexicans so by the time you get it expect it to be on it's last legs, but I figure you knew that if you're hitting home depot instead of Amazon or Lowe's. I like this Home Depot better than the Stratford location. Both are fine but I prefer the Derby store. I often times buy paint or painting supplies here. To be honest the only thing that is occasionally annoying at this location is sometimes the customers themselves. Once had this little woman wearing sunglasses inside cut in front of 3 people waiting at the paint counter to spend 2 minutes asking a question #valleygirlclass. Another time had some lady suddenly jump in front of me at the checkout line nearly causing a shopping cart collision #ctdrivers. Sometimes the employees will even approach you from a distance to ask if you need help. I'm pretty sure the shoppers are the annoying people in this particular store, not the employees. So came for paint went to the counter stood there for a few minutes finally turned around and asked the 4 employees standing there if any worked in paint and one of the guys sent one of the others over said he was the supervisor but I'm pretty sure he's not. This guy who made the joke looked to be in his late 30's. Grow up. Stop acting like children and do your job people. Went to buy a lawnmower, AJ at the front desk said they were all sold out. After 10 minutes of looking at holiday items I noticed the lawnmower we wanted was indeed in stock on an upper shelf with several others. I went back to AJ and allowed why he lied, he started they only have one lift operator who is busy. Glad I drove 30 minutes to waste my time. read more

When I came to Home Depot I asked a man who was working a different aisle to call assistance for me in the lumber aisle. I needed a price check as well as for someone to pull a bundle of wood forward so I can check if they were dry. I waited for about 10 mins and nobody showed up. So I walked around until I found anyone who was willing to help. I then spotted a worker named James D. Who was just clocking back in from a break but was very happy to help me. He not only helped with my original requests, but he went above and beyond and helped me load up my cart, helped me find additional items on my shopping list that were in other departments and even offered to help lift any heavy bulky items in to my car if needed. I normally have a hard time finding help at any store I shop at, but James went above and beyond and I will return just because I know he is willing to help the best he absolutely can. Not sure how I feel about a big box store in downtown, but considering that it replaced an ageing factory that dated back at least a century to the last industrial revolution of CT then I guess it's ok. Had to go there to see if they had a certain carpet runner and carpet end finishing product. Wow. First and last visit. Access is very hinky and weird, speed bumps huge, and watch your car parking. Lotta yahoos with pickups and strange parking patterns. Inside the place was cluttered and dirty, and help was scarce. Seems nobody cleans up or cares. Weak management at best. Saw a bunch of scattered carpets in one aisle. Another had several unused carts just sitting there. Never experienced the check out, which could be the bright spot, since they didn't have what I needed. read more

This is the worst Home Depot ever. There is only one entrance and there is no easy access.

If I could give Home Depot negative stars I would. I ordered a refrigerator and after a week of pure hell I still don't have it. I have waited a total of 7.5 hours and had my appointments rescheduled 6 times. Tomorrow will be a week and I still don't have my fridge. The worst part is I ordered it over a month ago at which point I schedule an appointment that worked in my schedule. I was silly to think that me, the customer, was important in this situation. It turns out I was very wrong. The lies and ridiculous reasons I have been given for the missed appointments and rescheduling would absolutely amaze you. The one I found the funniest was getting called the night before to reschedule because it was going to be to cold out the next day so their trucks wouldn't run. Apparently Home Depot employs psychics or they are the only multi-million dollar company in the world that doesn't know how to properly manage a fleet of diesel vehicles. I resently bought grass seed from this establishment Never ever again.You get what you pay for. The grass seed did not grow although it did give me a yard full of weeds.
