We have spent an extraordinary amount of money in both of these stores. We rarely need to make returns, but we just had a recent instance of having to return 5 bags of polymeric sand because we decided to have the job done by a contractor. I saved the receipt and my husband went to the store to return the sand. It was a VERY UNPLEASANT experience to learn that there is a 90 day window on returns (with receipt) and NO EXCEPTIONS ARE GRANTED FOR A RESELLABLE ITEM such as polymeric sand! Needless to say, we have made our LAST purchase at Lowes and I will be sharing this VERY NEGATIVE experience EVERYWHERE I can. read more

Worst experience ever they had things marked down go to pay for them and tell me they can't charge me the price it's marked to the lady said she could go review the video so I can get it for that price came back with the video and her hand the manager said that they no longer carry that product And had to put it back isn't that the whole point of the clearance department? Maybe they just wanted to keep it for themselves also also what's the deal with damage concrete and mulch and stuff like that anymore 50% off of 50% off bag of concrete I just buy a full bag for full price Half full price what a joke go to Home Depot people they actually standby their prices just something isn't initialed. From the minute I walked into Lowes in Big Flats, I knew that it was as mistake. I needed to replace a washer & dryer, I had a Kenmore stackable for 23 and it was bad, I my book so I new the size that would fit. I had to wait about 2 minute for the sales person, was talking to I guess a girl that he wanted and I was in the way. I pay with a Discover card, I guess they do offer 5% off with a Lowes card anymore. So Delivery, Free and Haul away was on Wednesday 8th When the Truck put up, a young man greeted me, he was only about 5, 8 150, I am almost 70, 5"10, 165 , and he was the ONLY DELIVERY person on the Truck???, We look at the old unit, and then WE, now Lowes, Nick & I, started to haul or figure out how to get the old unit old, it was push & pull, twist & turn, legs getting stuck, arms pinched 1/2 up 6 he said the front door needs to come off. Me being on top, I when to get get the door off, I only could get it 1/2 of, Nick help getting the other off, Putting the in the lawn, I look at him and told him, he needed a new job, for this sucks, he remarked how back it was working at Lowes, 90 % of the time he delivery's by himself This is a sin, item that at so heavy, whom can even lift 250 pound appliance. We finally got the unit through the Door, Nick cut his finger, I had Bandages for him We mark my home steps, doorway and molding. I help him get it thru the garage, we got the new unit, 2"inches smaller which was a great help, got it thru the front Door , and sliding it down the step. Then twisting and turn the unit to get it in place. I truly believe with all my heart, Lowes show be sending me a check for my service, That have no respect for senior, or OLD PEOPLE , PLUS LOWES IN BIG FLATS YOU CANNOT CONTACT THE MANGER. I got up this morning to a flooded basement. I had purchased our hot water heater from lowes. I discovered that that was the culprit. So I called lowes the girl I talked to told me that they can not help me. I asked to talk to a manager and the girl said the manager said she can't help me and hung up on me. I called back and waited 10 minutes. I decided to drive the 14 miles. I got to lowes and went to the front desk. I ask to speak with the manager and was told hold on. Then the girl who hung up on me went over and turned the ringer back on mind you I was still waiting for them to answer!! So I just let it ring and the manager refused to answer it. And refused to give me the corporate number!! They actually turned the ringer off so they did not have to help me. Yah lowes will never sell me another item!!! Finally, dishwasher installed by two great install n haul away guys from CRST GROP that is contractor that Lowes uses. Those employees have all been extremely helpful while Lowes workers have shown poor communication, unreliable inventory accuracies an very lengthy phone calls just to speak with appliance department staff! Three supervisors spoke with me and never fillowed through with their verbiage to call me right back or call me the next day. I was just blown off, no repercussions for Lowes. Absolutely no discount or decrease $$ as a way of saying they were sorry. Just a TERRIBLE company! read more

Had Lowe's out to install carpet, the experience was horrible from start to finish. They rescheduled 6 times, got stuck in my driveway and cut down large limbs off of my trees to stick under their tires to get traction to get them unstuck- without my permission. Now one of my tree looks ridiculous. When they finally got the the install, it was horrible, they used their knife to cut the carpet but cut a thick line into my molding on the entire length of each wall in each of the rooms. In a few spots I can actually see the blue underlayment through the carpet because it's worn so thin. Customer service is so bad it's almost incomprehensible. They gave me a refund of 200 dollars but that doesn't really help considering that I have to get the carpet replaced by another company and somehow try to fix the molding in each room. read more

This store needs help because they are so behind in their clearance markdowns which usually happen beginning Labor Day weekend. Three times I stopped in and still at the register, nothing is on sale that came from the clearance section! So back it all went. The excuse is that they are so short handed, that the hired are bounced here and there, mostly inside to do several tasks besides the gardening area. It appears that their tradition is put off and it puts off the customers who are looking to finish up their yardwork. Oh well, I guess I'll just stop checking them as it is 15 miles round trip. Yep in addition to the lack of customer service, loading, sales, etc, there is no relationship to speak of any more. It's more of a waste of time. Their garden products can be very pricy and the salespeople do not know their selection, season, planting advice etc. So it's time to move on. read more

I ordered a washing machine on line with delivery and installation included. The machine was delivered and installed on time. When I turned on the machine to wash some clothes, water began leaking from the seam where the control panel is attached to the machine. Here is where my experience went terribly awry. I phoned the store to arrange for a replacement of the defective machine. I was first transferred to the appliance department and had to listen to some obnoxious music while waiting on hold. When someone finally answered I explained the problem and was transferred to another department. Three transfers later, I was placed on hold and forced to listen to the obnoxious music for 45 minutes before someone answered the phone. After being once again transferred to another department, and after suggesting that if the person could not arrange to replace the defective product I would hang up and have my lawyer talk to them, someone finally offered to arrange to deliver a new washing machine to replace the defective one. The delivery is scheduled for tomorrow, three days subsequent to the original delivery. All together, it took 90 minutes to arrange a simple replacement of a defective product. Much of that time was spent listening to obnoxious music. I then asked to speak to a manager and described my experience to him. He stated that he would "look into it." I offered to provide my name and phone number and asked if he would contact me with the results of his investigation; he declined. He refused to acknowlege any fault in the matter; he insisted that it was all the fault of the manufacturer. I also complained about the obnoxious music. He said that there was nothing he could do about that. I don't believe him. Do you think that he will actually "look into it" as he said he would? I don't. read more

Who reviews a home improvement store? I do. Before moving to the area, I would have said I would pick Lowe's over Home Depot. It's brighter and a bit more clean and modern, yes I am talking about a warehouse, but it's not worth it. Oh Lowes, you used to be my favorite, and you gave coupons! But guess what, you can use Lowe's coupons at Home Depot so that's where I go with my coupons. Lowe's is not nearly as friendly and the people are not nearly as knowledgeable as HD. We are in the process of renovating our house, bathroom and kitchen, so we visit these places A LOT. Everyone knows us at HD but here? No one even wants to talk to us, no one wants to help and everyone is super grumpy. There are the occasional super helpful, nice people but the majority is that people at this Lowe's is not happy to be at work and don't want to interact with customers. Even the customer service desk was rude! HOW?! We only go here if we are in the area and we really try not to because we love HD and the employees there much more then here. This is the first time Lowe's has been a bad experience for me and I doubt we'll frequent it. read more

Ordered a riding lawn mower. It was delivered within the moving time frame. First told delivery before 11am, then between 9am and 1pm then between 11am and 3 pm. It was delivered at 12:30pm. The deliver persons were great. The mower did not have a key to start it or a manual for instructions. The delivery people said the truck was pre loaded by the store. So went to the store a got another key and a freshly printed manual. When got back to start mower the battery was dead. Disappointed that the store did not check these things when loading the truck. I can't compare to the local facilities, but compared to my local Lowe's, this place is lacking. They are in stock, and have associates available. The associates weren't doing anything, but looking at merchandise and were actually acting a bit suspicious. The facility isn't run down, exactly, but it looks to be a 10-15 year old store from the aged look. The cashier was also very open about his political beliefs... It is IMPOSSIBLE to talk to someone in Shipping and Receiving! This morning I called to confirm delivery and had to call 3 times each time getting through to customer service then placed on hold 15 minutes later finally spoke to someone! Then washer and dryer were delivered and there was damage to the washer so I sent it back. The delivery driver told me to call the store, which I did and again couldn't get through, this time 20 minutes later asked to speak to manager, got an assistant manager and she didn't even want to know my name! The drivers who deliver couldn't give me a receipt so I made them write on their paperwork that I was sending it back and wanted a new one and took a picture. So with that being said I am extremely disappointed in how this store does business!!!!!! read more

Disaster. My wife and I spent $2200 on a new fridge, and scheduled delivery. They scheduled with us twice, and both times did not show up, or call us! The third time they finally showed up and proceeded to tell us they could not bring the truck to our house because we have a gravel road. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Bought a dishwasher. They charged me $145 for an installation. However, 10 days later and at least 2 hours combined on hold and dealing with staff who don't know what they are doing.....I still can't find a soul there who knows how to schedule the installation. If it wasn't so frustrating, it would be comical. I'm sure I have now spent more time trying to schedule an installation than the actual installation is going to take. I finally called and asked for the manager of the Big Flats NY store. She seemed sincerely apologetic and told me she would look into and call me back before the end of the day. 24+ hours later.....nothing. The sales and customer service people here at Lowes Big Flats are just terrible at what they are supposed to be doing. And that goes for management too. They also have nothing on the shelves. I chose three light fittings and none of them were in stock and could not be ordered on-line. After spending $3000 on special order tiles that took 2 weeks to arrive, they arrived 50% thicker than the sample tile they gave me to test at home. Sales associate told me "thickness depends on who makes them". Would you buy a car if you got 3 or 4 wheels depending on who made them? Product quality and consistency is a joke. Associates are rude, inattentive, never there, uninformed, and are just awful to deal with. Manager, who I spoke to 2 years ago about the same things has done nothing to improve things, in fact I think they have got worse. Many items are not even on the shelves and associates dont know when they will be, or couldn't be bothered to check. Took 1.5 hours to pick my order as they couldn't find it, then found half of it, then the rest appeared later! They are a joke! read more

Lowe's is an excellent stop for the do it yourselfer. The staff has a knowledge level one would expect when you are looking for assistance, be it locating what you need or advice on a project. Their services are very corporate, however. They can be quite pushy at times. Also, don't expect a free estimate. read more

Complete incompetent staff that lied to me for weeks about a 10 foot length butcher block countertop that they said was going to be coming in on the next truck. Not only did it never come in, they said that I would have to special order it and that it would take Two more weeks to get one in. I called and tried to explain this to the manager. Her name was "Sam". I was not screaming I was not swearing but I certainly had a harsh tone of voice. Given the circumstances I find that tone to be appropriate. She went into full on snowflake mode and offered zero acceptable resolution to the fact that her employees wasted weeks of my time and have made me look foolish to my client. These halfwits need to understand that their mistakes become the contractors mistake when he is trying to explain to his clients. A little bit of accountability would go a long way. Never setting foot in the store again and I strongly suggest that any contractor looking for reliable product delivery in the area go somewhere else instead. read more

I wanted to commend you on your Sales Specialist, Wayne Ergott, in the Plumbing Dept. at the Big Flats, NY location. I had ordered a shower kit thru Lowe's online ( my first time ordered from your online store) and it did not come in on time, in fact, it had been back ordered 6 wks and I had no notification at all, and it turns out due to a fire, there was a resin shortage and that why it was back ordered, but apparently the company never notified Lowe's who therefore could not notify me. I went to the store directly and ask to speak to a manager and they took me back to Wayne in plumbing. He was very apologetic and helped get most of the items from the shower kit from the floor (they were in stock!) except the back wall, which he contacted the Sayre store and they had it in stock and I was able to drive down and get it that day. Saved me almost $300 since it was now not a special order! Unfortunately, when we got it home, it was damaged and had to go to Sayre again the next day and get a new one, but he removed the shipping charge and spent a lot of time with me and did not get distracted with other customers which I appreciated as I literally was in tears when I got there. He was very compassionate and knowledgeable and took charge of the situation and made every effort to help make this right again. If it wasn't for his professionalism and sincere desire to help make this right, I may have never ordered from Lowes again. He took the items out to my car personally and gave me his card and told me if I had any more issues to contact him. Thank you Wayne Ergott! You saved a customer for Lowe's! read more
