Everyone I spoke with at Foothills was extremely customer service oriented and knowledgeable. They were recommended as a resource by my contractor. It was great to have access to a great resource that was local to my area. They certainly made the process a pleasant experience.

I did, anyway. So it's wonderful to see two familiar faces when I go to Hometown Hardware. This store is smaller than St. Paul Builders, but Steve and Jerry are quick to order anything you need. I wanted some DAP plaster-of-Paris powder, and it was waiting for me the next time I went in--and at a good price. Steve and Jerry are professional, accommodating, and also very nice and friendly. I predict that Hometown Hardware will become as much a local institution as St. Paul Builders was. And I very much appreciate that I don't have to drive a long way just to pick up hardware and supplies. The location in downtown St. Paul is extremely convenient.

This store is broken up into two big rooms. The one towards the left is more upscale gift like. You will find lotions, cards, kitchen gadgets and candles/soaps. While it is a bit pricey, I love the local and well curated feel. They have nice candies and snacks from Asheville and some great natural products. Some old fashioned soda in the back for hot summer days. The right side is more your everyday stuff and traditional general store items. You will find actual hardware, command strips, soil, birdseed and leaning supplies. The front has cute games and books. Again, check the prices as some are quite fair (I got birdseed and a birdfeeder for the cat that costs similar to Amazon prices) but some can be high. Other random info- They also do handiwork and make key copies. That's nifty. You can become a member and get some discounts if you wish (it's free). The staff are nice and friendly and willing to help. This store has tons of items your big box stores could only dream of selling. Great place for those items that are tough to find but not in most retailers. The screws and nails are still sold by the pound! They have been in business here since 1899! Thats over 125 years in business. Come by and take a look an a living piece of history, you will be sure to leave with something.

There's tables full of tools and merchandise and bins of fasteners and they'll cut keys for you and I've even purchased gardening tools here but they just might be functional souvenirs from the coolest gift shop ever ;-) Really, there's spare parts and fluids and coatings in wall cubbies for things that were old when Moses was young; an amazing array of scythes, buck-saws, and other implements of indeterminate age but obviously well used and cared for as you would expect in these surroundings.

Terrible customer service and generalized failure to take responsibility for substandard parts. Customer must go to third party website to purchase parts to replace the ones that have broken. Parts in question are Kenlin Rite-Trak II and CS rep told us to get a completely different part number at Swisco.com. Need to replace the front and rear plastic parts on all 17 drawers in the furniture pieces. Not happy at all!

To start, both the dresser and chest are made of oak and whatever finish Vaughan-Bassett used, filled all of the divots in the wood white a white chalk type paint it seems like. We reached out to the company we bought these through and they agreed that they look nothing like they do on Vaughan Bassetts website. The company we purchased these through spoke with Vaughan-Bassett and we're told that the pictures on their site aren't meant to be a final representation of the product, but to just show what the product design looks like. And that they can't help it if the finish is different. This furniture cost a lot of money. And we specifically went with this furniture not only because it looked good on their site, but because it was 100% wood American made. But if this is the type of product this company is going to make. Stay away from them. If they don't care how the overall product looks when it gets to the customer. Don't trust that company.
