Don't bother shopping here if you aren't rich or young unless you want the employees to insult you. Two adults over 75 looking for kitchen backsplash tiles. The employee who stopped to talk to us offered up the answer to our question: we need to use a jigsaw to cut those tile sections. Fine. He then stated, "I just put in a $30,000 kitchen in my house. i would never ruin it by putting something that cheap looking in my kitchen." When my mom answered that they are too old and on social security, preventing such large expenditures anymore, he stood by his rude statement. No apology. No further customer assistance or follow through in sales. If you don't want to make a sale to elderly people in this store, you should announce that. I pass this store twice a day on my way to work, but i will no longer spend any money here. The first time this behavior happened to me, another employee told me maybe my house was too old and cheap to buy new exterior doors. I have an old house with slightly smaller doorways than modern ones. He said that's why some people save up to buy new houses. Insulted, and then walked away from. So I took my business to Ranson Home Depot, and they installed two new beautiful exterior doors, which cost me $4000. Yesterday, we also went to Home Depot for their house needs after the Lowes incident. The sale included everything we wanted, as well as new appliances. $10,000 after appliance delivery charges and installation fees. So Mr High Society (who still works at Lowes and probably finances his home work), at the end of the day we will probably spend $30,000 on their upgrade as well. Just in increments and saving where we can in order to do a complete room. With a six foot section of backsplash that offended no one at your competitor. And they made an elderly couple and their daughter happy. Which makes my kids and their families (who also buy home improvement supplies) happy. And these five households are now making sure our friends and coworkers know the truth. Lowes in Martinsburg will verbally insult and heckle anyone over 50 who shops there. Two instances a month apart. Two different male employees. Ageism is their way. Poor people also need not shop here. Their own employees have said so! Was surprised to see the low rating at this Lowe's store. From my experience today, the employees wore masks (90% of shoppers, as well), it seemed clean, and they had a great selection of Halloween decorations. The paint samples were well stocked and organized. The checkout lines had markers for social distancing. Our experience was shopping in store, with masks, so I can't speak to the curbside pickup feature. read more

Carpet installation. Do not under any circumstance use Lowes for Carpet installation! We had our basement freshly painted and the installation crew damaged the walls after being told they were freshly painted. The installers messed up several seams with the most egregious being a two inch strip that was about 22 feet long. They sent someone out after we complained who stated they needed to redo the carpet in that area. It is now going on almost three weeks and they still have not called to schedule the repair job. We are unable to put our basement back together and have loss use of it now for almost a month! Spend the extra money and go with a reputable carpet store. read more

As far as curbside goes some employees can be very inattentive while some do ok. It's as if they feel we are lazy because we wait in our vehicle and they have to actually do something. 90% of the time the order is wrong with missing items so check everything before you leave. They will not say good morning or have a nice day they just walk back in the store without even a glance. Fine I could care less just get my order right. I once witnessed a employee arriving for work with the rage of a madman cussing and spewing foul language to an invisible person lol. I purchased almost $2,000.00 worth of appliances -- a washer / dryer -- and paid on the spot. Waited almost 2 weeks for them to "come in" and "be delivered". The day of delivery, I took a day off from work (I only get 5 a year) to wait on the delivery guys who were supposed to arrive before 6 PM. Sometime around 7, he called and said "We can't find your house." Well, my address is one of the most obvious, common, addresses on the Main Street in our downtown. It couldn't get any easier to find. I asked the deliver guy if he had GPS. He said yeah, but it can't find you, and "you need to call the store" So...I called the store. And called. And called. And called. No answer...just endless robots on an answering machine. So, I called one last time and put the phone on speaker while I drove OVER 30 MINUTES to the store. Ironically, as I was pulling in the lot, someone answered! She was curt when I asked to speak to a manager...no "hello, how can I help you?"...nothing...just click and forwarded on. I told the manager I wanted to speak with him at the Customer Service (that's a joke) desk to complain about this situation. He took at least 20 minutes to get up there. No worries, since I already waited ALL DAY for a non-existent delivery. At the "Service" desk, the staff was inattentive, and rude. It took over 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge I was there, though at least 3 staff stood there goofing off an chatting about random stuff. The one person who did acknowledge me did so reluctantly, huffing and rolling her eyes like she was sooooo,,,,being bothered. Sad. I asked the Assistant Manager Bryce if he could call the driver to see if he could help him find our house. He said, yeah, well, I can, but....and then went avoider answering an talked about some unrelated topic. I repeated this several times until finally I said, "Just give me a refund." The "manager" never once asked me if they could have a second chance, or try to reschedule delivery, or call the driver. Never once apologize for lame service ...or complete lack thereof! He also refused to issue a refund until he verified the appliances returned (even though they certainly were NOT delivered to ME). So, I told him I would call Visa from home to reverse the charges. Finally, I asked if there was a feedback form or link so that I could let Lowes know about this and make suggestions on how to improve. His response was like a deer in headlights, like talking to a stump. Clueless. Absolutely useless and I can't even believe a major chain like Lowes has a "Customer Service" desk and "Manager" this bad...and drivers who can't find an address on the 100 block of the Main Street running through town! Oddly, this story has a good ending. I drove a few miles further to the Home Depot where the same appliances were at least 30% less expensive. And...with 2-day guaranteed delivery and set up. I won't go to Lowes again. And that's unfortunate, because we would rather shop locally. Don't waste your time on Lowes in Martinsburg. Drive down to Home Depot in Charlestown instead. The costumer service in the store is good, unfortunately the Management is behind the times. I do all my shopping and payments via my phone with a gift card app. This stir has made it impossible to use this technology. The want me to print the card out and bring it in and most of the time they won't take that. I have been in there and it works if they use it. Needs zero stars. 5 people in line at lumber checkout on a slow Sat evening, and cashier Tatiyana just walks away, stands out in the aisle. After a couple minutes I asked "What are we waiting for?" She said "time for me to go home." And just continued to stand out in the aisle. I pointed out to her after another minute that in the time she spent standing out there waiting she could have checked the rest of us out, but she said "No, time for me to go home." Apparently she'd called someone as she stepped away, and along comes Daniel. I ask him why in the world the cashier stepped away when there are 5 people waiting to check out? He tells me not to yell (I *am* a big guy with a loud mouth, yes indeed) and why am I upset, so I repeat: Why does a cashier just step away with no one else in sight and 5 people waiting? I then asked if he can check us out. He tells me "who the hell do I look like, a manager? I don't do that shit." I said I didn't know and didn't care, let's find someone to check us out. He said "I don't give a fuck what you want, I don't do that shit." Once again I pointed out to Daniel and Tatiyana that in the time she's spent standing out in the aisle she could have checked us out. Tatiyana said "you look like you could use the exercise, walk your fat ass down there" as she pointed to the registers at the other end of the store. I then walked over and in front of Tatiyana to confirm her name tag, and she covered it very effectively with her hand and kept turning away from me. Finally got an MOD with perfunctory apologies, refused to even tell me when *his* boss would be available on Monday. Standing in line for returns for 19 minutes as 1 person works the line and 4 stand in the staging area talking. Wood is terrible and half the time have to sort 15 boards to find 2 decent 1X8's. I called back, they hung up again...now, we waited about 5 minutes for them even to pick up the phone. Then my friend called and tried to speak with the store manager...it rang then...nothing. She called back and tried to get appliance customer rep on phone and they hung up on her also after waiting 5 minutes....it's a shame when customer service can't even pick up the phone and ask you to give them a minute to get back with you. This online shopping has gotten out customer service reps not caring a hoot if you're not personally there. But you can get a bag of chips or a soda or maybe paper towels or Ajax but don't go for plumbing supplies or your told we are out of stock. Have not had that for weeks. We use to have it but you can buy this and that. With a special tool for 50 bucks instead of 14 bucks though. No thanks Lowe's. Drove on down to Charles town Home Depot which is where I'm going for now on who had my fittings for 11 bucks to your out of stock 14. Get your stuff together. Your supposed to be a home improvement. Hardware supply store not Walmart. Well some things will never change. No service today getting 12 bags. Concrete and had to go through 20 bags to find some not hard and several were busted. The stores crew is so far from being trained on customer service, it's so horrible I had 5 projects that I had to follow up on almost everday! On top of that they messed up so much with the 5 projects the manager was gonna give me a credit, instead of asking me how I would l wanted it, Bryce the AM took it upon himself to credit my card upon following up he said he would call them to get a check sent never got the check weeks went by had to call again still nothing. At that point weeks later he said that they couldn't do it so it's a point of customer service being a manger you would think that you would make sure your customers are taking care of when you spend thousands of dollars... This Lowe's is consistently bad, almost every time I am there. The only reason I go is that it is closer than Home Depot. Staff are slow to move and have very little knowledge of where things are, and are unwilling to go the extra mile to help find someone who can help. Their appliance sales department was apathetic--it was almost as though the sales guy didn't care whether he made the sale or not--Even when I mentioned going to competitors for a better price. And their phone customer service--what a joke--it's basically just calling to listen to a half an hour of music while being bounced from department to department. I purchased a Pit Boss smoker/grill about 1.5 weeks ago from the Martinsburg, WV store already assembled, not my choice I don't usally do this as I prefer to assemble things myself. Well, I ask at the store doesn't it come with a temp probe and was told not sure and a another gentleman chained in and said no, when in fact it was suppose to come with one, since a friend of mine said they do and after checking the manual it was supposed to come with one. After I got it home I starting checking it out, the flip tray was not assembled correctly, the collar sleeves that go in the bolt were crimped and you could not fully lift and lock it in place, I fixed it myself lucky I keep all kinds of items around so I didnt have to purchase anything to fix it, all the nuts and bolts had to be tighten and it was missing the gasket for the smoke stack. I ordered the gasket which was 5 dollars not a lot of money but it's the fact I shouldn't have had to and now I have to purchase a meat temp probe. Very disappointed with the assembly and not getting the meat probe with it. Piss poor assembly. I tried to contact customer service to just get the run around. Never again will I purchase anything from lowes in Martinsburg that is pre assembled. This is why my review is so low. read more

The curbside pickup at this location has been a complete failure. I've spent thousands here over the last few months and ever since COVID and curbside - the employees have been complete JERKS. Nasty people, I had one throw the bag in my window and then and walk away without a word and one hang up on me when I called the store after calling to tell them they threw the wrong bag at me. Next pickup I waited over an hour to get my item. It takes 15-20 repeated calls to the store to even get an answer because all the phone does anymore is ring. read more

I had bought Valspar paint from Habitat for Humanities ReStore and came here to get color added to a gallon of paint for a ceiling. An older guy working here colored it for me, no questions asked, nothing said, and the paint color came out perfectly. I came back to the store a few days later to get another gallon colored for my walls and a woman was now working, and when she saw I had got the paint from ReStore she acted out all frantically and immediately said she had to talk to her manager about being able to do it first. She pages for a manager and soon gets a phone call back, and then relays the message to myself that it's against their store policy to do that (even after I explained how they just did it for me the other day). Furthermore, if you're a retailer for Valspar paint whether I bought the paint from your store or not shouldn't even matter (as you don't appear to ask anyone for their original receipt for the paint from Lowes anyway and you often color it before the paint is even purchased.. which should be the other way around like some other paint stores). If I bought it from Lowes the day before and brought it back because I decided I wanted color added to it... it shouldn't even be an issue because Lowes will alter paint color if I decide I didn't like how the shade turned out. So why does it even matter if it's secondhand paint or not (or if I bought it years ago from Lowes)... it's still new, unused, and unaltered. Also, if you're concerned whether or not people bought their paint from your store or not then you should be asking to see peoples' Lowes receipts for the paint (since no one does then I guess that means you're still breaking your so-called company policies on paint). So the lady then tells me I could add an already made paint color to it and mix it myself, or I could try Walmart. Also, only Valspar retailers can alter that brand of paint due to the Valspar barcode on the paint (as I did talk to Home Depot about it). So I then decide to drive out of my way to the next closest Lowes to myself. The guy at the other Lowes noticed I had an older version of the paint they have now, and he actually replaced my entire gallon of Valspar paint from ReStore with their newer Valspar paint and he mixed my color for me (free of charge!)... how awesome is that (I assume they'll send the old discontinued paint back to the vender because having worked in a higher standard store setting before that's what we'd do)! Needless to say, I won't be back to this Lowes location again for my paint until they figure out their actual paint policies. read more

This is the worst Lowe's in TriState area. Engaged for measuring for buying and installing flooring, didn't show up as scheduled, rescheduled then they never called to set up ordering once they had measurements, went in to order told flooring not in stock but would follow up with manufacturer and call me, no call back from project manager, at this point I contact manufacturer who said flooring is in stock Lowe's just has to order, I call Lowe's talk to manager they are to check and call me back, no call back. I call again get another manager they circle me back to project manager who now says he has the floor but didn't have time to work with me today. I went to Lowe's demanded a manager get me the flooring product to take home, will eat the $35 fee towards installation before I let them screw up anything else. No confidence in their abilities or customer service. After one project manager, three managers, three store trips and three weeks. I finally have product. Meantime while I am at the counter another customer is being told the only thing you can do is file a claim if the floor is installed improperly. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

I might as well add my two cents to the resounding chorus of dissatisfied patrons of the Martinsburg Lowe's store. In early spring, I went rounds with a manager there named Robbie, who would not give me his last name after I asked him several times. I lit up corporate customer service about his lack of professionalism and refusal to identify himself properly. Corporate made things "right" and did so quickly, which I commend them on. However, one shouldn't have to argue and fuss over items that should be in stock. Home improvement store? The only thing they are improving is their bottom line by taking advantage of the hard working folks in our town. Fast forward to September 2019, whereas I ordered 3 doors (exterior door and storm door) and a single garage door. The single garage door wasn't in stock so I had to wait a few weeks for the free delivery. The door was delivered. I called an installer and when installer showed up, he told me the hardware that came with the door will not work with my current garage setup. I have a "low headroom" garage and the railings would not work. Lowe's does not sell the "low headroom kit", and regardless, why would I want to spend another $100 on railing, when I already had a set with the door that I purchased. I called the store to ask if I could bring the door/hardware back and they said yes and I would be issued a refund. I charged the door on my Lowe's credit card to get the 5% discount. Immediately when I saw the charge posted on my account, I paid it off in full, leaving a zero balance. That has been my customary practice with Lowe's, so not to get charged interest. I load the door in my truck with the associated railing/hardware, heft it inside the store, and wait patiently at customer service desk ("customer service" is a stretch of the word in this location). I was then told that I could have a store gift card OR a credit on my Lowe's credit car d account. They would NOT give me my money back in cash or check, which upset me. I first chose to get a gift card, but changed my mind before leaving the store and headed back to the customer service desk to have another conversation. After all, we are talking about $654 they owe me at this point. I forgot to mention with the first customer service experience I asked to speak with store manager and no one showed up. Upon my second round with customer service, again, asked for a manager. The gal waiting on me paged a MOD at least 3 times and no manager called her back, but a supervisor showed up. Supervisor proceeds to tell me that is their policy although they wouldn't produce a written copy of it. Angry doesn't begin to describe my attitude, but I remained diplomatic in my speech although I was furious inside, blood boiling. I returned home, and found the corporate email address and explained in further detail the story I'm describing in this review. I get an email back today from Lowe's corporate mentioning they needed to speak with "my spouse, who experienced the issues at Lowe's. Nowhere in my email did I mention a spouse, nor the "ghost spouse" having issue with Lowe's. Therefore, I can conclude that NO ONE took the time to read the complaint. I called corporate to respond to their lame email and no satisfaction there either. I explained everything (again) to no avail. At that point, I told her I would call the Synchrony folks (credit card holder and cancel my card, demand that the credit balance be sent to me, and just close the entire account because my hard earned dollars are equally as welcomed, if not more so, at the Home Depot in Ranson. Ranson is not too far for me to travel for a good customer service experience. Reading the poor reviews about the Martinsburg Lowe's makes my heart sad. I used to LOVE going to that store and not sure who is responsible for its nosedive in the customer service department, but I realize I'm not alone with boycotting the store forever. If I live to be 150 years old, I will never, ever patronize the Martinsburg Lowe's store again. Do yourself a favor -- go to Home Depot in Ranson, where they care about their customer-base. Martinsburg Lowe's need to go back to the fundamentals of customer service. That doesn't mean the customer is always right, but it does mean that the customer is important and their needs and concerned should be professionally addressed. read more
