From those professionals that wield a cordless drill in one hand, a hammer in the other with a tool belt that would make Batman jealous to those of us who don't know the difference between a miter saw and compound miter saw, Lowes is THE place to stop by for so many home improvement projects. Located right off of Dorchester Rd in a safe part of town, this Lowes is pretty good and actually clean! I've found myself doing a lot of home improvement projects from finishing an attic, repairing side paneling to upgrading my yard and I've always found what I needed. Moreover, I got my Weber Grill from there and I use my it at least 3 times a week. Also, I had to upgrade a drill and the associate advised me against one product for another that has lasted me years. I've needed keys and it took literally 10 seconds. Oh, and for paint.... They're experts at matching colors. I'm still amazed at how well they can match colors, but there again I'm a beginner so I have no issues leaving it to the experts! I have a refrigerator that needed a new water filter. I called around town no one had my model until I found one for $80. I stopped by Lowes and when I had difficulty finding I an employee saw I was struggling. He quickly came over and helped me out. Not only did they carry the make and model it was $30 less than the other place! I've done a lot of projects all over the nation and Lowes is always a good place to utilize for any needs I have. I'm not going to wax poetic like I do in other reviews but end with this Lowes is great for all sorts of reasons. December 25, 2025 I received an email that Lowes has a Kitchen Aide Dishwasher on sale for up to 50% off. My dishwasher is not working and I had a extra to spend, so I purchased this dishwasher online. I was so excited to receive it. The day of the delivery, the delivery men told me all they can do is drop off, they will not be able to haul away. One of the drivers mentioned that I should have disconnected the dishwasher. I'm a single elderly woman that has no skills in me to disconnect a dishwasher. So I contacted Lowes to schedule a haul away, by the way, I have already prepaid for this haul away which didn't happen the day the dishwasher was delivered. However, Lowes rescheduled my haul away for a day away, Sunday, and at that time I found out that I didn't pay for an install, which I thought I did. Anyway, I tried to pay for an install and I the Lowes representative on the other end of the phone told me my payment was not going through and recommended I go into the store and pay. So later in the day, I get in my car to pay for an installation at the store. Now, remember earlier I mentioned I purchased this dishwasher online? Purchasing online was moot because I ended up driving to Lowes to deal with all of this in the store. So I drive to Lowes to pay for an installation and while there, I was told that I'm not able to pay because the computer won't accept my payment for some unforeseen reasons. So the in-store representative suggested to refund everything and for me to repurchase. I told the Lowes representative I will not be repurchasing anything here. I told him I am on my way to Home Depot to purchase a dishwasher. read more

I bought a brand-new front door lock from the James Island Lowe's and within weeks it completely failed. Not only did I have to pay out of pocket for a locksmith, but I was also told I would need to remove the entire lock from my front door and bring it into the store for help. That left my brand-new home with no lock at all, a huge safety risk. I spent over 2 hours on the phone with multiple Lowe's reps, being transferred around, hung up on, and told different things each time. The store manager even suggested I drive to another Lowe's an hour away, only for them to tell me they couldn't do any more than the first store. So after 3 plus hours on the phone, 2 separate stores, and a 2 hour round trip, I ended up right where I started with no working lock, no help, and wasted time and money. To make matters worse, all of this happened while my home sat completely unsecured with no one inside. This is unacceptable. Lowe's should be standing behind the products they sell and providing real solutions, not pushing the problem onto the customer, forcing unsafe situations, or making them jump through endless hoops. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, avoid Lowe's. Their customer service is beyond broken, and their treatment of customers in urgent situations is shameful. read more

As I mentioned in a previous review I'll be spending a lot of time at stores with the word home in them! My brand new house is very empty and needs lots of new things. I was using Lowe's as a recommendation from my new neighbor on where to get the blinds I needed. I looked for a team member to help, but no one was available. I really feel like if there is not an employee working for every two isles, you are on your own. Everyone but seasoned regular shoppers here, are looking for someone to help them. I needed 4 different t things and it's time consuming with no help. I was able to find the blinds on my own thanks to a picture my neighbor sent me of the box with the size and brand. When it comes to checking out, the only option is self check. I was surrounded by other customers who were not happy that there was only one associate there to help all 4 self check out spots. Let the self checkout debate continue... I don't really care at that point. I'd rather see the entire store filled with team members in red to help me find what I need! read more

Lowes is conveniently located close to my home and other neighborhoods in the area. Parking is plentiful and the store is easy to navigate. They have a wonderful garden department which I frequent often, especially during spring and summer. Their supplies are well stocked and the salesperson seem knowledgeable about their area. I will say that many of them do not go out of their way to speak or approach you to see if you need assistance. Unless you are looking heavily in their area. Other than that, I have no qualms with the place. read more

I ordered a fridge and have been trying to cancel but there's no actual way to do it from the link they sent. They are a hot mess and you shouldn't be putting your faith in them. read more

Yesterday my husband and I went to the Lowe's on Dorchester Road instead of the one on Main Street that we normally visit. I am so glad we did! We needed a new door for our screened in patio. As we searched, Connie looked at me smiled and asked if we needed assistance. Connie went above and beyond! She made sure we had the door we wanted. She went to the register and waited while we paid. Connie took a second receipt and wrote the name of the man we hired to pick up the door. She attached that receipt to our door. Connie was the kindest person I've encountered in such a long time while shopping. She really needs to be a supervisor and train everyone in customer service. Thank you Connie! read more

I've been at this Lowe's a lot lately because a family member is building a house so we've been in and out picking up fixtures, etc. The customer service has been pretty good. We did have one girl at the customer service desk say she was going to call someone to help us lift something and then forget about it though. I think things are easy to find here, though I worked at two hardware stores in Texas years ago so I know my way around one pretty well. Bathrooms are in the front at this one though, when they're usually in the back. Jsyk! I do like that they have self-check lanes. That is certainly nice when it is busy. read more

Actually a pretty nice Lowe's store and I usually don't care for Lowe's due to the lack of customer service I receive, but this store was different. This location isn't nearly as busy as the Summerville store. They usually have what I need, pretty easy to find, and usually clean. Haven't had very many issues in the years coming here! The staff are also nice and helpful. We've rented a truck from this location, and the process was very smooth, but the truck did have a wet dog smell in it. It wasn't very expensive either so we will probably rent from here again if we ever need a truck! read more

Employees don't want to extend themselves to assist with appliance orders, nor do they follow through and order the installation when it has been paid and to top it off , when the new appliances are delivered, contrary to what had been promised, the delivery man that was tattooed from head to toe, rings in his nose and bells on his toes, told me he couldn't move my old washer because it was too heavy. My husband and I frequent this Lowes often as it's just minutes from our home in Wescott. We have received excellent service from a Gas grill purchase to Christmas decorations. The service and availability of products is always great. We love Lowes. Pricing is fair and the store is always well stocked and clean. Very friendly staff. Helpful and knowledge. For me, I always seem to have to use the restrooms, well....they are so clean! Love it! This is great when you drink crap tons of water! Don't forget to check out all of the great storage ideas, you need that I'm SC with no basements. Great ideas. Grills are on sale NOW! Garden area is exceptional! Love the baby Palms and great price! Today was another disappointment at this store. I went to buy a cheap plastic chair so my husband could use it to shower post surgery. They were on sale for $6.49. They were all locked up outside of the store which required me to get the item number, pay for it and wait for someone to come out and unlock this very valuable object so I could take it home. Two questions here. 1. Why lock these up outside when there was plenty of space on the floor. 2. Is it truly necessary to make a customer wait for 15 minutes outside in the 90 degree heat for an item that costs $6.49? I only shop here when I have no other choice. read more

This is a decent Lowes. I like their selection, and the fact that you can do self check-out. I think one of my biggest complaints about Lowes is how long it sometimes takes to check out. The self check prevents this issue for me. This is a good sized store, with lots of options. I do find it difficult to find someone on the sales floor to ask questions. That said, the folks I do see are always working with other customers. The sheer size of this store indicates to me that they could use a few more employees during the busier times. All-in-all, I can say I'd recommend this Lowes - especially over the one in S'ville. read more

I'm not sure how this Lowes is still even in business... Because summer service is absolutely horrible. Today we called ahead in regards to replacement windows. We told the man in the windows department exactly what we needed, size and everything. He confirmed that they had five of those windows. And that he would put them on a cart for us. We told me exactly what time we would be by to pick these windows up. He did not ask us for any extra information, give us any item numbers, or even state his name. We drove 45 minutes to pick these windows up. When we got there, nobody in the store knew anything about what we were talking about. Everyone was clueless... Like usual. Got them loaded in the truck, and got all the way home to realize they were NOT The specific windows we had asked for. When calling the store to verify that they had them when we brought these back to return, we were on hold for about 20 minutes. The woman who we were able to finally get in touch with was extremely rude and would not even let us get a breath in because what she had to say was more important. She got an attitude with the both of us and then ended up yelling on the phone! Highly unprofessional. This Lowe's is horrible. read more

I didn't realize you cherry-picked your online product reviews until recently. I bought a gallon of very expensive paint that did not cover well at all. It was supposed to be one coat coverage, and after three coats it still is not right. I went on your website to post a one-star review, and submitted it. But it never appeared on the site. I tried again, and was prohibited from reviewing anything further. Here is what the review said: "Hi--I purchased a gallon of this very beautiful paint. The coverage is terrible. I cannot imagine a scenario where it would ever cover in one coat. I painted three different materials: bare wood, steel (door) and plastic shutters. All but the bare wood were cleaned thoroughly with TSP and rinsed well, then dried completely. It simply does not want to adhere to the surface. It looks like I will have to give it a fourth coat. Any suggestions? Very disappointed." No wonder there are so many glowing reviews of this paint. You deleted all the negative ones. Good to know I was dealing with crooks. read more

First of all, I don't usually write reviews unless they are really good, or really bad. This one is obviously really bad. My wife went to get some things out of our dishwasher on January 1st. When she did, she realized that it had not finished it's run from the night before. Not a good way to start off the year. But, Lowes was open until 6:00 PM, so we decided to go see what they had, and found a nice Bosch 500 series dishwasher. Since we wanted to replace ours as fast as possible, we asked the salesman was it available, and how soon could it be delivered. He said he had seen no issues with things being delivered on or before the next Sunday (the 6th). So, I said I would take one. I know Lowes gives Military discounts, and I also know that some stores counted other government personnel in that group, so I asked if I would be eligible to receive one. He asked to see my ID, I showed it to him, and he said I would be. Since his register was closed, he said I would have to check out up front. I went up front to check out, the cashier asked to see my ID, and I showed it to her. Again, she said I would receive the discount, but I would have to go to customer service. After checking out, I went to customer service and spoke to the CR person about the discount. She told me that I would not be eligible for a discount. I had no issue with that. It was the way she told me that made me feel like I had done something wrong. My wife picked up on it too, so it wasn't just me. It made me feel "small" (if that makes sense) - and this after I had made over an $1100 purchase (after installation, etc.). The person I had spoken to in the appliance section said I should expect a call from the installer within 48 hours. Nope. No call. I had to call Lowes back. We then got a call from the installer. Of course the installer said that they were backed up, and set the installation for over a week out. The day of the installation my wife and I both took the afternoon off (vacation time), so we would be sure someone was home. Roughly 30 minutes after the installer was set to show up, we get a call from Lowes saying the dishwasher they had in stock was damaged, and the install would have to be rescheduled. Only they now have to wait for a delivery from their warehouse. The thing is, no one can give me an exact date as to when they will get one in ( "maybe tonight, or possibly 1 or 2 days from now" ), and of course they can't setup installation until the dishwasher is in their possession. As it sits, it's January 15th, and I am still waiting to hear a date. I have spoken to two managers, and still don't know any thing exact. I would think they HAVE to have an inventory program that tells when they will get a delivery, and who that is slated for, and when to expect it. I can't for the life of me figure out why no one can give me a date. I am pretty sure I will not frequent that store again... Update: It's now 1/18/2019. On 1/16/2019, I called Lowes corporate customer service. The person I spoke with called the store while I was on hold with her. When she came back on, she told me a store senior manager would be contacting me within 24 hours to discuss my issues. She also said that I would be getting a call from the installers within 48 hours to setup an install date. Neither one happened. Update: I finally got with one of the Assistant Managers at Lowes that did seem to still care about customers. His name was Sergio. Sergio listened to the problems I had run into, and offered a partial refund for my troubles. He also said he would have my install scheduled before the end of the day, and it happened. My dishwasher is now installed, and running like a champ. Sergio, thanks so much for taking the time to care. You have restored my faith in this store! read more

I went to Lowe's to pick up a small refrigerator for my mother that she had purchased earlier in the evening. But I went to customer service to ask for it because there was no one at the pickup booth. Silly me, thinking since there's no one at the pick up booth and there are no customers at the customer service island, perhaps the young gentleman that was working the customer service island could just come and help me at the pickup booth or kiosk. Well, he told me to go to the pick up booth. I did. There was a service bell at the kiosk, so I rang it. An announcement came over the PA system stating that someone at pick up needed assistance. Meanwhile, the young man if yelling across the store for the woman who was working the pick up booth. Finally, he walks over to the pick up booth and he himself rang the bell. He proceeded to yell out the young lady's name again. I didn't know who he was looking for so I did not know if she was on the way or not. Well he started looking up the purchase of my mother's refrigerator.he went and brought it out, which it was visible from where we were standing. It was balanced on a blue shopping cart. Well he was keying in some information, he never explain what was going on or what he was doing it was almost as if I wasn't there and I was bothering him for being there. it was a strange way to feel as a customer to be perfectly honest. In any event, the woman walks at who normally works at that kiosk and as she got close to the Christmas items near the kiosk she yells to the guy to check my ID.; She knew my name with Marcus and expected me to come to pick up the refrigerator for my mother. After the young man check my identification, he pushed the shopping cart that the refrigerator was balanced on towards me. I asked them is this the way you all normally transport items on a shopping cart because if it falls and something happens to it I need to know that this is your standard operational procedure and you will take the responsibility. The woman tells me that that's how my mother brought it up there. I explained to her that my mother is not an employee at Lowe's. When I later told my mother about this incident, she said that was a lie one of the guys on the floor brought it at to the counter for her. I just reiterated to the woman that if that's how they normally transport items that's fine, however the responsibility will lie on lose if something happens and it falls off of the shopping cart that it did not fit on. The woman then said well we can put it on a handcart and told the young man to do that. The young man grab the refrigerator slit it onto the card and said something under his breath about it not being that heavy. And then he walked away. No one offered to help me get it to my truck on my truck or anyting. I was appalled by the lack of customer service and definitely did not expect it at Lowe's. Honestly, if I have purchased the refrigerator, and was treated the way that I was treated, I would have returned it and went somewhere else to find a refrigerator. I do not spend my money with anyone or any business that does not appreciate my support. In defense of Lowe's, I at shop at almost every Lowe's in the Charleston area because I work with a friend sometimes that does heating and air conditioning work, so either these people are holiday employees that don't give a damn about their jobs and the customers are they are too awful hires. I detest not being treated well I do not tolerate it. I was so caught off guard by the terrible service and the laxidasical attitudes that it didn't dawn on me to get their names. However I know you know your schedule and you know who you have working on Thursday night between 7:30 and 8.I'm never coming back there I'm telling my mother and the rest of my family and anyone else I know to not shop at that particular location, the customer service is horrible. read more

Paid $6,000 to get my kitchen remodeled after I had to do the demo myself and I've had nothing but problems so far. First, the cabinet installers blew the power to the house after drilling into the wiring and refused to fix it. Second they "lost" my order that said what sink and countertops I picked out. Then when the delivery guys came to set up my temporary sink, they drove over my gate and snapped the post in half. They haven't offered to fix anything or shown any sign of remorse. Super friendly and knowledgable staff, clean and organized store, and it always seems to be well-stocked. I'm here a lot for the lawn and garden department, and have always been met with a friendly face and an eagerness to help. I recently (last weekend) got 30 bags of mulch, and they laughed when I offered to help load it all...they insisted I stay in the truck and that they would take care of it, which they did! I'm here at least once a week! Service: Most Lowe's stores I go to have pretty good service and this is one is no exception. It's hit or miss with regards to the specific department "experts". Price: I think people really don't care about where they go to between Home Depot and Lowe's. They usually go to whatever is closer. However, I've done some price comparisons, and Lowe's can be cheaper by $1 - $2 dollars for a lot of products. Garden Center: Awesome! They have the one year guarantee on plants if they die. Trust me, I've brought back some shrubs that are dried out enough to make good firewood, and they don't even blink an eye when taking it back. Has huge selection of plants in season. Products: They sell all the brand name stuff. They carry Hitachi power tools which I like, and you can't find at Home Depot. Lumber Center: This is one of the few home center that has it's own lumber yard out back where they can mill there own wood. So needless to say, the wood here is better than most. The one thing they don't carry which I never understoon, was untreated 4x4's Location: Easy to access right off of Dorchester road, and plenty of parking. I never feel like it's jam packed. Wow, Always thought highly of Lowes until today. It took them over a week to deliver washer, dryer, and fridge. It was delievered this past Saturday. The washer doesn't work. The driver said he ran a test cycle on it. Now, I am communicating with the sales managers at the Summerville location and they give me the run around. I have gone severals days without clean clothing. Communication IS HORRIBLE, they say they will give me FREE LAUNDRY DETERGENT?!?! If I could give negative stars I would. I will never buy from Lowes again!!!!!! Bought a new dishwasher from them 11/20/2015. 3 weeks later it started to leak! So I called to get service under warranty! Service man came out started it and said yup it's leaking, probably the seal. I'll order one and be back in two weeks! came out three weeks later and only because I hounded them, replaced seal. Three weeks after that it started leaking again! Two more repair men came out in the last 5 MONTHS, and actually took the time to look at it and said its unrepairable the tub and door are warped! Got a call last Monday 4/18/2016 from fridgedaire saying they were replacing it and would forward the email to Lowes to have them replace it! Tuesday 4/19/2016 I called Lowes customer service back to find out if they got the email. They did...YAY!!! Said I would get a call from my local lowes in 48 hours to schedule delivery! TODAY 4/27/2016 , a week later I have not heard a thing. Called back lowes cares with Phillip who tells me they haven't got anything from fridgdaire. Like all Lowe's it's a fine place to pick up what you need, but customer service of any kind can be terrible. I've had a very difficult time with their flooring department. Often I can't find anybody that works in the dept. I call for assistance and it's someone that doesn't know anything about flooring and is just trying to help. I was told on one visit they were doing inventory and probably couldn't get anyone to help me for about a week. Are you kidding me? They finally sent someone out to do a quote on putting tile on my kitchen floor and it was outrageous so I bought the tile there, had someone else install and saved $500-$600. Now they keep calling me leaving messages asking when they can do the install and when I call them back to let them know they can forget that I, you guessed it, can't get anyone in flooring to answer the phone and their phone system won't allow me to leave a message. Unbelievable... Update 12/5/17:I paid for a grille that wasn't in stock, and now I can't get it. It's been over a week, I've called to check on status, after being on hold forever I was told I'd get a call back, and of course that never happened. These people are the worst. read more

BUYERS BEWARE: Lowe's has a 30 day limit on returning any defective power tools, including lawn mowers, and this can screw you badly with any equipment you depend on. I purchased a lawn mower from this Lowe's and cut my yard 3 times with it before it died. I tried to return it at Lowe's but they unsympathetically informed me that I would have to contact the manufacturer because I had missed the 30 day mark--"Sorry, that's our policy, we can't help you." Well, the manufacturer (Troy Bilt) has a history per other reviews out there of taking more than two months to replace their engines. Before buying any equipment from Lowe's, ask yourself if you can do without it for 2 months if it fails a month after you buy it. I will not be shopping at Lowe's again and I encourage everyone reading this to think if this kind of customer treatment is something you want to support with your hard-earned dollars. read more

Ive been shopping with Lowes for years and I've never had such a terrible experience as I did with this location and the Assistant Manager Colleen. I spoke to her over the phone concerning a problem with a large order I placed with the company for granite countertops and appliances. She assured me, along with the head manager Dan, that if I made the lengthy trip to Summerville that everything would be straighten out. However, when I arrived at the store Ms. Colleen was very rude with me as to explaining why her promise could not be fulfilled. When I further asked why she didn't tell me this over the phone she said that, "We were busy, and had important things to do" and proceeded to walk off. I have never been so disrespected at a Lowes in my life! I truly feel that she did it because I am of African American descent and appear to be very young. My order was for over $3300, but I plan to cancel that after receiving such poor service. While this is not the Lowes I know, this behavior is inexcusable and represent the company as a whole.
