Lowes credit card holders can't trust Lowes to keep their account information safe and warn them about scams. This became apparent after I became a victim of a fake Lowes customer survey scam that ripped me off for $95. The scam was in the form of an email apparently from Lowes which asked me to fill out a survey. As an incentive, I'd be given a chance to receive a free 100 piece Cobalt Tool Set. The email seemed legitimate: the originating address made it seem to be from Lowes; and I have a Lowes credit card, so it was reasonable to receive a survey request from them. After submitted the completed survey, I received an email which informed me that I'd won a tool set, and would receive it if I paid $12.65 for shipping. I accepted the offer and received an order confirmation number. Two weeks later, with no further word about the shipment, I checked my credit card information online. My card had been billed $12.65 - but not by Lowes. The billing was by "FeelTheVictoryWovenInf" of Panorama City, California. That company charged my card an additional $75.85. There is no such company, based on a Google search. There must have been other victims of this scam, some of them after my experience and some before it. Some victims had to have contacted Lowes about it (as I'll do today). Yet Lowes made no effort to warn credit card holders about this scam. And since the scam email was addressed to me as a Lowes customer, Lowes must have failed to protect the email address associated with my account. So here's a suggestion, Lowes credit card holders: cancel your account and cut up your card. read more

I'd rather support Lowes than Home Depot, but this place makes it tough. The service is fine, but I was pretty disappointed when I returned a faucet recently. I expected store credit for the full amount I paid, given I had my receipt. Instead, they gave me the sale price, which was $45 less than what I paid. I live out of town and was 4 days outside the 90 day return window. I understand getting store credit for my delay, but the deduction doesn't make sense to me---terrible policy. In the past, Lowes also refused to credit me the sale price for an appliance I ordered a week or 2 before. Perhaps good customer service policies are a thing of the past...... read more

This place will do anything to get your business and then make it impossible to get what you paid for. Went to Lowe's to order new flooring for our new house, and came upon one we liked and when we did the math and we found out not enough was in stock.we spoke with the rep at the time and ran the options, I pushed for picking it up ourselves from the different stores but the rep said we can get it and have it delivered to you by 2 weeks time ( the store with the supplies needed is less than 4 miles away, we checked and they have what we need to fill the order) 2 weeks later we are to receive our delivery to find out it still has not been filled and will not be delivered until Tuesday now. Which is another 4 days ( meanwhile we have no floors in our house now) when I call to see if we can receive partial order we are denied because it is ONLY DELIVERY. We would have to cancel the order completely, wait 3 days plus to get our refund and then buy it again. Do not do business here unless you like endlessly waiting for what you have paid in full for. read more

Our main refrigerator started dying a slow death...it was not cooling down to setting in the refrigerator section - freezer was fine. We had this happen before a few years ago and our home warranty experience has not been that great, so, we opted to purchase a new unit. We also went this way because I am recovering from shoulder replacement surgery that was done a few weeks ago and I have very tight restrictions yet. We thought this would be an easy, positive experience...we were totally wrong and sorry we bought from Lowes. The new refrigerator arrived this afternoon. Not good, not good at all... I really don't care they were at for the delivery time slot, stuff happens. Lowes contracted these two to pickup our old fridge and deliver the new one. I had and seen it done a bazillion of time to great success...not the case with these two. They are supposed to be "delivery experts" as we have been told. We expected the transition to quick and easy...NO, it was not even close. These French door refrigerators are almost exactly the same dimension as the finished opeo Ning of a 36" standard doorway with the house door removed. Two options - 1. Remove the fridge doors and drawer or 2. "Butterfly" the fridge through the doorway (remove the drawer and open the top doors while fishing it through the opening.). You can't stuff something bigger than the opening without damaging stuff. They were to do the following 2 tasks: First remove the old: They didn't want to "butterfly" through the opening, so they decided to take the drawer and doors off. Then, they didn't have the right tools. So, I got them the tools they needed. Then they were befuddled on how to do it. So, I personally removed the drawer and doors for them. After a good hour, most of the old fridge finally made it to the truck. Now bring in the new: They carry it up the porch to the front house door. Guess what? It won't fit through the door. Why? The fridge is almost 35"...narrowist opening with the house door still on, 34".I had to get a measuring tape to show them because they belligerently started saying the door isn't 36". It is a standard door like millions of other houses in the U. S. So, now the new fridge is stuck between the stoom door frame as the storm door handle is making little "Morse Code" style dents and they are ramming the base of it against the hinge face of the door and then the top against the door closer. I tried to discuss the damage,they ignore it and me. Suddenly, they decide to take the doors and drawer off, but, have no clue how... They escaped to their truck and I was thinking they were looking at the manual or calling for advice. But, pretty sure they were "hiding" and we're siting there for about 10 minutes until I knocked on the door and told them that I removed the door and door frame for them so they have 3/4" clearance. They say "oh, ok" and roll the window up. A good 5-10 minutes later, one of them come to the door and starts telling me they are way behind schedule and can't finish. I was like HUH!???!! At this point, all they had to do was pick it up, carry it about 12' straight to the kitchen, put the handles on, plug it in take their picture and be done. I may have gotten a wee bit angry and said "I really don't care about your schedule, we need to finish this job..." Ha called me rude and said they are leaving. I pointed out they already damaged the unit. So he viewed that as my fault. Unbelievable stuff...just wow. I tried to call Lowes while they were here and the associate said there was no point talking to a supervisor because they can't do any more than him and we need to accept the unit and make a claim. Finally, I got a hold of Lowes corporate and a new, replacement will be here Saturday with "more qualified" technicians. They left the house dismantled in addition to leaving parts and thier tools all over the kitchen. I guess it is only fitting I put it all back together and clean the mess. And, yes, I am not supposed to do this stuff because of my shoulder surgery restrictions....never buy Lowes! read more

We are very upset, Have been a good Lowes customer for over 20 years. My wife tried to return a quart of primer today to the Traverse Store, we are in a rural area and today was our first time back in town. A man (50's-60's) at the return counter about 3 pm today July 7th refused to return the item, said it was beyond the 30 days policy. First time I was ever refused a return. Value about $14, the original sale was over $2,000 and I have spent over $4,000 this year already, a pro customer. I could have accepted that, BUT, then proceeded to tell my wife, "I guess its yours now" and laughed like crazy. What an unprofessional response. We are going to switch back to Home Depot after all these years. We are really insulted. I was a retail analyst, studying why folks buy and don't buy from companies. This incident is a big reason why you loose business. read more

Do not shop here. We were two of maybe 15 customers in the store. We asked for help from two ladies who were gossiping- told us to wait for someone to come help us. Nobody came and assisted. We needed a drill from the locked up section. Attempted to get help from another employee who was annoyed to even answer our questions. And had an attitude. Horrible customer service. I ordered a fridge on 27Feb and was advised it would be delivered around 17Mar. Got an email stating it would be delayed until 31Mar. I was OK with that. Yesterday on 28Mar I get an email stating the order was cancelled three days before supposed delivery due to out of stock. Totally unacceptable! It should have never been sold in the first place! And Lowes should have reached out to me apologizing for my inconvenience and offering me a solution. Another fridge in stock of equal value. But no one cared. Unacceptable! Don't be sucked in to making a major purchase from Lowe's because they are offering a rebate. I spent $11,000 to purchase and have installed a whole house generator because they offered a $250 Lowe's rebate. I spent 10 months of writing emails and making phone calls every 6 to 8 months. They kept saying that the rebate was being processed, but I never received it. Today, they emailed me and said they needed me to send a copy of my receipt. Huh? We were going to use the rebate as starter money to refurbish our bathrooms. I recognize now that Lowe's had no intention of standing behind their pledge. Poor communication, did not complete the work, orders were wrong and delayed project, contractor (Simplified Home Improvement) made the project anything but simple and never finished the job. Those are the good things. On the upside I am retired and do have the required skills (although a bit rusty) and ended up finish the work myself. Their price for the total job was in the middle of the bids and I had used them once before with good results. If you have a job you want done right go to Home Depot, Menard's, anyone but Lowes. I always seem to find the help I need when I go to Lowe's. We ordered / purchased our kitchen cabinets, appliances, and countertops, as well as our bathroom vanities, toilets, tub, and sinks from them and couldn't be happier with the value and quality. We did most of the work ourselves and even watched how-to videos on things like the toilet installation at Lowe's.com! If you read all the recent comments you can really see this is not a good store. I end up coming here more often than I'd like only because it's about 10 minutes extra time to get to Home Depot for me, but I've just about had it with Lowe's. Most of the staff here is rude, unhelpful, and obviously don't enjoy being on the job at all. As for knowledge in customer service, forget it, also very surly when you try to return something. I vowed to stop coming to the store unless I just need to pick up something that's only a couple of bucks, but even then I'll probably go to a local hardware store. read more

But then I found that I prefer it too - there's certainly a better selection of portable A/C units in comparison. All the times that I have been here, there are staff that are very willing to help. I bought Vinyl Flooring at Lowes. Totally unprofessional & rude salesperson. I was told I could have 2 rebates (one for each quote) only got one. I was told I couldn't have sale prices on flooring because I was having it installed. I was told I had until 12/29 to purchase in order to have it installed by Christmas. Then salesperson changed it to 12/27. This salesperson had very poor communication skills and no follow through. He pushed an extra $3,000 padding that I had taken off only he forgot to take off the $2,000 installation. I paid for everything and gave the salesperson a bad survey. After that, the salesperson then was always giving me a hard time, threatened me that I would not get my installation. I received a call from Lowes delivery and they didn't have my correct address on delivery address. I live 4 hrs away from house to be delivered at and was given less than 24 hr. notice. Management didn't do a thing to the sales person and acted as though I were the bad person. Needless to say they have lost me and my $13,000 as a customer and I will take my business elsewhere. When they refunded my money they kept $120 and I had to call again to get this money back. Lowes has lost my business forever. They want to make a quick sale but don't care whether you are satisfied or not. They protect their personnel and do not care about their customers. Also never told me about VA discount. I heard it is 10% and he neglected to offer that as well. read more

The products are great. Their installation contractors are very unreliable. They installed 3 windows and 1 sliding door. It's now two months later and they've yet to finish the drywall and trim. This has to be the absolute worst Lowes I have ever experienced. The entire store needs to take lessons from the staff at Pro Desk. Every time I do an online order, I end up waiting forever in the breezway while people walk up to the counter from inside the store and staff at the pick up desk just look at you!!!!!!!!! Seriously? How about clearly defined lines as to what is returns and what is pick up? How about telling people that come in from the other way, the line starts out side!!!!!! The associates are so disengaged that if I the customer do not approach them, they would let me stand out there all day! This is very disheartening because the Pro Desk at this particular facility is top notch best anywhere. read more

CAUTION WHEN USING LOWES CREDIT CARD IF YOU HAVE IT SET UP FOR AUTOMATIC PAYMENT: If you buy anything on extended payment with 0% interest, the credit card will deduct the entire total balance in the first month instead of spreading it out over the intended/promised period even though your statement reflects the purchase as an extended payment purchase. The store employees don't seem to know this, nor will they tell you when you are applying for the extended purchase plan at their registers. So I asked if they had any of those prices listed and was about to ask for further assistance until the employee replied "uh yea.. They're in the book". I then said ok thank you and walked out. Went to menards and the employee there spent about an hour explaining different kitchen cabinets and different options and accessories. Will not go back to lowes. We picked up a grill and due to size of it, had to break it out of box to get in to the vehicle. The next day, started the build and soon realized, that yes...we had left parts in the box. Calling in, talked with Stephanie and Pat, who quickly tracked down the parts in that box with Angie volunteering to drive 20 MILES one way to bail us out. Having been a Lowe's customer at this location for over 12 years, I sadly report that the service to which we were accustomed has deteriorated to the extent I will not return. June 9 this year I went to the store to purchase a cordless electric lawn mower, having extensively researched options. Finding none in stock the salesclerk in that dept. offered to order what I needed. He did so with considerable difficulty using the computer and me making corrections to inaccurate entries I spotted. He could not send the invoice from his computer for to the service desk for printing requiring lengthy processing before I had a confirmation of my order with which to claim the mower when it arrived at the store for pick up. When the June 19 projected date of my order's arrival at the store had passed, I called the TC Lowe's store June 23 and was told my mower had arrived and was ready for pick-up. I drove to the store and was told at the service counter that the mower would be brought from the back within 10 minutes. However when I returned to the counter and identified my purpose to a different clerk she told me there was no mower there and nothing in the computer for me because I had not placed an order there. Holding the paperwork in my hand I assured her I knew I had ordered there and had received verification of the order on my home computer as well as 2 separate reports that it had arrived there. She did not ask to see the paperwork, repeated that I had not ordered a mower there (implying I was either lying or inept), could not explain my having been told twice within the hour of its arrival and was dismissing me when the clerk who had placed the order stepped up and identified himself as the man who had done so for me. He said he was at the desk because he was the one sent to bring the mower from the back. With his affirmation of my information, the desk clerk took my paperwork, checked the computer and said the mower was at the Big Rapids store because the store number entered on the order lined up with that store. She offered no apology for the mistake or for having twice accused me of being responsible for the failure in delivery nor did she offer any means of addressing the problem. When I asked about the mower being moved to the TC store, she curtly informed me it was Friday and nothing would be done before Monday. At that point I said I chose to cancel the order in response to the treatment I was receiving and order from Amazon. The clerk who had placed the order took me to his phone, apologized profusely, and called the Big Rapids store to secure credit back on the credit card with which I purchased it. I returned to the service counter for confirmation of the phone credit issue to find other customers were in distress over a sale misrepresented to them and being dismissed such that they asked to speak to the manager. I asked to do so as well. The woman summoned did not introduce herself, listened to their concern and mine but offered nothing in the way of addressing our concerns beyond asking the offending clerk what was being done and learning that I had cancelled my order. The other dissatisfied customers were led away to speak to store management. I immediately ordered a mower from Amazon with no shipping charge and had it delivered to my home early the following week. In August I received an email survey asking me to rate my experience at Lowe's and I entered the above account. A response email from customer service indicated I would receive a call from store management which I did several days later. My concerns were shared and at last an apology and wish to address my needs were offered. I have been using the mower from Amazon for nearly 2 months now and explained I would not return to the TC Lowe's for future needs after store error led to inconvenience and my being treated with disrespect. My request of management was that they use training periods to better address computer proficiency but more especially to teach the fundamentals of respectfully resolving customer needs. Beyond that I can only share this experience with other consumers. This validates prior experience this year in electing to purchase major appliances from Home Depot rather than Lowe's whose service disappointed. read more

Went into Lowes today to buy a hot water heater. I loaded it myself on to a cart while two employees just stood there and watched. Maybe they were on their break, but don't they have a break room? I think they were just lazy. And then when I checked out I was asked if I needed help to load it onto my truck by the cashier. I said yes. I went and brought my truck to the door and there was no help. I loaded it myself. It was a 50 gallon and heavy. I try to patronize All fairly. But Lowes is now off my list. Ty read more

I have to update my recent experiences with Lowes in Traverse City, MI. After going 0 for 2 in scheduled installations, we had what we thought was a solid appointment for the delivery/installation of a dishwasher. When no one showed up at the appointed time (the third time this had happened), I called the store (again) and this time, ended up with an assistant store manager. He listened to my story and promised a 24 hour solution. The next morning he brought the dishwasher on his personal truck, refunded the total installation fee and added a sweetener that helped me feel a little better about Lowes. read more

We were treated very poorly by the head cashier up front because we went to show our military ID for their discount for our grandma to purchase some items. She told us that in order for her to give us our military discount we had to purchase the items not our grandmother. Our grandpa is a WWII veteran and she didn't have a military ID. She pretty much was arguing and being rude with us. We didn't get the discount and purchased our items and left. We were treated very poorly as military members. Not a great experience, I am a Home Depot regular for a reason and that was reaffirmed today at the Traverse City Lowes. cutting blinds should be more precise and there should be protocol in place to ensure that the customer is walking out the door without a return trip to have the product recut because it was not cut right the first time, apparently your customer's tie is not worth anything. read more

This is the store with the dumbest people working here. Employees and management are very uneducated and ill-equipped to use a computer system. Amy, Kim and Pam were so difficult. All we wanted to do was purchase a ceiling fan. So the young gentleman who helped us talked with a supervisor on the phone and got us free shipping. When we got to check out they couldn't find our order because not only was the phone number entered wrong but they had the wrong city. They had a township name instead to the town we had. And then they REFUSED to change the address to the correct city. I finally got a manager and they said that the people delivering wouldn't know where to deliver it. THEN they refused to waive the delivery charge that the guy in the back just got taken off for us (we just purchased a very large order the day before and this was their most expensive fan). Then they REFUSED to leave it at our house....um we work 30 minutes away at our own business....sorry we won't be home..... then they wanted us to write the directions to our house 65 mileage away!!! They told us no one has GPS. Don't bother at this store. I called the Gaylord store. They are much nicer and more helpful. read more
