Have frequented the Lowville Bistro periodically for many years. I kid you not, tonight's meal was the best I've ever had in all those years. Service, as always, was phenomenal. Our server Joanne was wonderful and I afraid to share in a joke. Chef Dallas knocked it out of the park tonight with the specials. A nice little bistro to find in a small town. It's situated by a park and it's a very popular spot. I would have liked to see more vegetarian and maybe even a vegan option on the menu but they were willing to make the pasta dish vegetarian. I appreciate being accommodated but that doesn't change the price of that menu item which still includes meat or the fact that it's still not on the menu. 'Accommodating' someone is much like 'tolerance' in the sense that it conveys a certain level of annoyance. So please, Lowville, add a vegetarian pasta and another main to your menu and then you won't just be accommodating, you'll be elevated to vegetarian-friendly status. The food we ended up with and service was very enjoyable. We opted to sit outside because the live music inside was incredibly loud. I liked the primavera pizza and appetizers we split. In fact the apps were probably the best food we had. My DC's off-menu veg pasta was incredibly spicy and I was glad I didn't order the same thing as him. All in all it was a nice experience. We came here for a romantic dinner on a Friday evening. It was comfortably busy, but not too noisy and mix of guests of different ages. This is a small restaurant and it feels cozy to dine here. I should mention Lowville is located about 10 minutes up Guelph Line Rd from Dundas St. So it feels like you are in a rural area, but really you only a few minutes away from the city. I was recommended this location for dinner and was not disappointed. I really enjoyed the grilled calamari appetizer. For main I had the Lowville Burger (I'll admit, I'm having burger cravings lately, could not help myself). Tip: if you want to look presentable to your date, then don't get the burger. Its a delicious mess, with a patty too large to fit in your mouth at once, so you have to gnaw at it, as delicious hamburger sauce drips over your fingers. I need a couple extra napkins to keep myself clean :). But it was delicious and quite enjoyable. They actually had a surprisingly large selection of daily specials, far more interesting sounding than my burger. But alas, I just had craving. I would recommend you not rely on the online menu alone and come in to hear all the daily specials-at least five of them on the evening we dined. My partner had the bacon crusted chicken medallion, which he enjoyed. I think there was a olive pate along the edges? Well it was yummy, whatever it was. We were too stuffed for dessert, but I will have to come back to try as their dessert display looked amazing. Overall we had a pleasant, relaxed and intimate dining experience that we both enjoyed. Last evening my husband and a good friend went to Lowville for dinner and the entertainment. We had gone to see the duo Kris and Jorge in July which was wonderful. Last night though the circumstances were not the same. The food and service were very good but unfortunately there were 8 power outages which was very disruptive. Also I believe the owner should consider scaling back the number of tables when they have entertainment. We were seated beside the dessert refrigerator and found the restaurant to be very noisy to the point we could not hear the music which was the reason we returned to the venue. I know you cannot control the volume of conversations at the different tables but perhaps if they had declined some guests it would have made for a better evening. 5 out of 5!! These guys knocked it out of the park! From the friendly greeting and showing us to our table, this was a pleasant dining experience. My wife had the Surf and Turf & I had the stratciatella soup and veal Picata. Tables are a bit close together but c'est la vie. Make sure you make a reservation. Recommended -- and will be back. Stopped in with my daughter for lunch. The place was nice inside, friendly staff. The gentleman who sat us asked what we would like to drink, and didn't bring it - the waitress was confused when I told her we were already asked - then still didn't bring the cola my daughter asked for. The food was okay... the attempt at trendy was meh (chicken club on ciabatta - burger on pretzel bun... both of which would have changed our orders had we known). I won't say don't go - it was nice... but I'm not likely to go again myself. read more

We've been here about 20 times throughout the years and have never been disappointed. The night time ambiance is super cozy and nice. The food is always fresh and the wine list is great. Wonderful little bistro in a small little town. Must make reservations because it is so small. Love it and recommend it! read more

One of my favourite spots in the area! Have been coming here with my dad since I was a kid and it has always been the same great food and cool atmosphere. They have a smaller menu but everything on it is always super delicious! It's right across the street from Lowville Park, a super cute walk in the summer and a winter wonderland in the colder months. read more

Waited 1 hour 15 minutes for a burger that turned out to be cold. When I asked the waitress to return the burger to the kitchen, she was rude and replied that it was my own fault for ordering the burger when my friends were ordering appetizers. Honestly, this place tries to put on a gourmet vibe, but it has trashy women as servers. Not worth your time to argue with those hags. Save yourself the time on order the pizza. Not even cooked enough that the cheese didn't even melt. Won't last 2 more years. read more

Went with eight friends tonight. Food was fine and the Sunday evening jazz was very nice. When we got there we were told that for large groups they automaticly added 20% gratuity. I do go out with large groups regularly. It is typically 15% and occasionally 18%. It was 20% on the food and beverages It was 20% on the cover charge It was 20% on the food and beverage tax. We arrived at 710pm. We ordered both our appetizer and main course at the same time. We finished our appetizer by 7:30 pm and by 8:20 pm our main course had not arrived. People at the next table, who ordered after us, had their appetizers and main course server while we were still waiting. When we spoken with the server, she said that restaurants don't put in the food order until you've finished your appetizer. Always a good idea to insult the customer after they've waited over an hour for their food. We got our bill, paid for our drinks and appetizer and left without eating. read more

This place has great potential but I have to warn people away from it. Service is very slow, especially if there is any kind clientele in. Worst of all, the owner has an appalling attitude to her customers. She was full on rude to us and when we told her we wouldn't be back, she just shrugged. The place is usually quite full because its walking country and there's really nothing else close for lunch after a walk. The patio is beautiful. The food is sub-par. The lobster lettuce taco had zero lobster. It was a sloppy mess of sauce, corn and red pepper. No lobster. Sent it back for the mussels, that disappointed as well. If you like to pay for gourmet food, but be served slop than this place is for you. They even cheap out in the bathrooms with napkins as hand towels! Unbelievable. This place is unfortunately a miss! read more

I went last night for the 4th time in a row they told me they didn't have any more of the Chef's special left (it was 7pm). I had to settle for something different, that's fine I guess. The issue was when they brought our mains, my wife received a pasta dish when she ordered a seafood risotto. They came back about 10 minutes later when I just finished my last bite on my plate (after sharing) and they had to audacity to give her a bowl of risotto and minute rice with 1 shrimp (for a $32 seafood risotto). We refused it and went to the Thai place up the road for take out so she didn't starve. The chef or the manager didn't come over to apologize however they "didn't charge for the risotto" (that's all they did). What a great date night, thanks Lowville Bistro! read more

While everyone has a different experience we've always had a good meal with good service. The service today was very good. Prompt, efficient and yet not hovering. We ate on the patio. Hamburger was big and juicy. Thai noodle salad was very tasty and fresh. We really enjoy this place. It's a beautiful country setting with quality food. read more

Went there last night for dinner and live Jazz. The musician Melissa Boyce was amazing. Sultry Jazz and good food. The Sea bass and the Salmon were both excellent but next time I go back I will ask the chef to hold the Balsamic Glaze. It looked nice but there was to much of it on the plate. I use to love this place, food was good. Mind u took u for ever to get it but at lest it was done right and good to get to know your date. Now this place is terrible. Service is slow food is slow and slow for bad food they put bochow on my mash potatoes. Made me chicken parm and it was wet and tasted frozen. The calamari was fried and the batter was just falling off and greasy. I only liked the tazki dip for the calamari. Wouldn't go there and less they have change there ways read more

Food was good, delicious actually. Sadly the service was terrible and I will not go back. I waited at the entrance for 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me, yet people who arrived after me were greeted. The place is packed and they really cram the tables in. We had to ask for menus and for someone to take our drink order. Food was ready quickly, and was delicious. They seemed to be in a rush to get us out of there so, wish granted, and I'll never be back. Such a shame; its a beautiful location but with poor service. read more

We showed up after a round of golf, no one in sight. They told us we had to sit outside since they were full for jazz night- bad service to begin with. The food was such a disappointment! Short ribs and pasta special were dry and flavourless. My husband ordered the seafood pasta and was swimming in olive oil. Spent over $100 for 2 and we left hungry. Will not be returning since the food is extremely overpriced and the service doesn't seem to appreciate new clientele. read more

Cute place in a charming country setting, yet not far from Burlington, where I live. A pretty drive when one wants a change of scene from downtown dining. Offers an outdoor patio in the warmer months; inside, bright and cozy, with lots of windows, facing the winding road and Lowville Park. The pizza I had was good. My parents had reserved for us on August 3rd a dinner out for our year one. It took 30 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and bring us a menu and ask us if we wanted drinks. They did not come back for another 20 minutes. My husband has a severe dairy allergy and asked the waitress if his order had any dairy in it, she responded with "I don't think so". I ordered one of the pizzas, which ended up being fine, and he ordered one of the specials (fish). It took another by this time an hour for my food to arrive. Our reservation was at 6:30pm and my order came at 7:30. I figured his would soon be coming along as well. The waitress came shortly back and said they realized as they were bringing his out that the fish had dairy on it so they had to re cook his entire meal (so she never did check is his meal had dairy in it to begin with). By this time it was 8 pm when my husband got his meal. His potatoes ended up having cheese in them and he was ill for the rest of the night as a result. We asked for our bill and quickly left. read more
