She does not LISTEN to clients!!! NEGATIVE-Bad color experience with DONNA'S error. Further, and far more impressionable, was the disappointing and unprofessional manner she choose to fix HER mistake. Of point, I made clear at the appointment, my dissatisfaction and dislike of how dark my hair had turned out. After she agreed for me to come back in to the salon so she could "see what she could do," she processed my original ask and unapologetically proceeded to CHARGE ME again for HER mistake!!!!! However, this time, "just for the color." Negative - - - AGAIN!!!! This time a HAIRCUT. I really wanted to work towards establishing a permanent stylist/client relationship. That's why I scheduled another appointment with her. OMG! Donna completely botched the haircut so badly that the style I desired was now unachievable. She butchered my hair! Absolute worst haircut of my life!!!!! It will literally be YEARS before my hair grows out enough to support the style I wanted. Just after she made her first cuts, she and I both know the huge mistake she had made. She declared, "I'm an idiot!" I presented with medium length, non-layered, healthy hair. My request, pictures in hand, was a MID LENGTH ANGLED BOB!!!! Initially very achievable! That idea is now years.....away..... Very nice person! Bad experience here and it just kept getting worse…read more First I booked an appt with Jess a level 5 and who specializes in short hair cuts for 12pm. I put in the notes for someone to please give me a call with her prices as they didn't show up online. Someone calls me back a couple days before my booking to confirm my appt, but nothing about pricing. They never read the notes. Then, someone calls me again the day before my appt trying to confirm it for 11:45am. So, I call back to let them know that's incorrect but it goes to voicemail and I leave a message. Day of my appt, I'm called 2 hrs before my appt not to confirm my appt is at 12pm (nope they never returned my call) but to tell me my stylist is sick and can't do my appt. Not very professional in my opinion considering they want 48hrs notice or they charge you. I understand life happens, but we all have lives with things happening. Maybe be more lenient on your cancellation policy if you can't uphold it yourself. Now, I'm frustrated as they have poor communication, get details wrong, and cancel last minute with no comparable options and no other offer to remedy this. So, they cancelled my appt less than 2hrs before my reservation. Which is ironic considering they make it very clear on their website that they will charge your card (that you have to give in order to book your time) if you decide you need to cancel within 48hrs. On top of that, they offered to reschedule me with a level 1 stylist that specializes in color and long haircuts. Not comparable AT ALL to what I originally had booked. Then they tried to book me with the same sick stylist the next morning....so you couldn't give me more than 2hrs heads up that she was sick but you're betting that she'll be all fine to cut my hair less than 24hrs from now? Nope, not risking it as I've already had to rearrange all my plans because I work a lot and this was the only day off I could do. Very disappointed in how this all went down from start to finish and would not recommend booking here. Wish I would've booked literally anywhere else as they did nothing to help other than offer me the same sick stylist who'd probably just cancel again or a stylist who isn't specialized for what I needed.

My daughter got her hair butchered by a new talent stylist named Leslie. Cut her hair wet, including face framing layers so obviously when she dried it the layers were awful & choppy. Typically it takes at least an hour for a new stylist cut if not longer, but my daughter was in/out in 35-40 min. In addition a more experienced stylist would inspect & give feedback- that didn't happen My daughter gave feedback about the experience to the checkout girl but there was no manager onsite to discuss further. I ended up calling later in the day to speak to a manager & was told she'd be in on 12/26 & to expect a call. The front desk person also said they've had problems with Leslie & she had already been talked to. Not much solace for my daughter, at least the bright side is her hair will grow back. I called the salon today, 12/27 and was told the manager Mack was on vacation so not sure why the previous person promised me a callback on 12/26 I asked if there was at least an asst mgr on today & was told no. It looked like I bleached my own hair and used a bright box die to color it and my roots were NOT blended into the color at all. My hair is naturally quite thick, but after it was died by this salon, it was very brittle and there was breakage all over. I went in that same evening I got it done to try and get it fixed by the same salon (big mistake) - it still was not what I had asked for. I paid $300 for this and had to pay another $300 to get it fixed at James Salon to color it dark brown to salvage my hair. Not only did I spend a fortune that I wasn't anticipating, but I'm now trying to heal my hair. If you're looking to get a balayage done or any hair coloring, would not recommend going here. It does not seem that training is in place at Gwen's ... however, James Salon is wonderful! Their stylists are highly skilled and you don't need to stress over paying for something that you didn't ask for or being unhappy with your hair. Be smart with your money.
