On the day of the pour, the crew poured the slab and finished it before lunch! A good group of guys and very professional. They cleaned up after themselves when they were done and didn't leave a mess. They finished the concrete with a hand finished, swirl pattern that looks great! It rains pretty hard where I live and they were able to slope the slave so that the rain runoff is directed to drainage grates. I would definitely use these guys again and would highly recommend!

Keenan Yoshida, the boss, was very easy to talk to and explained the entire process. His estimate was very reasonable, too. His crew was respectful of our home and made every effort to keep it as dust free and clean as possible during the renovation process. They were very professional in their demeanor. Fast forward six years, it was now time to do window replacement. I had several companies provide an estimate before thinking about asking if Keenan did that type of job. Keenan promptly came by with the window representative and explained the various window models and suggested which type of window for each area. Within a few days, he provided us with an estimate that was very reasonable. When the windows arrived, his crew began working on the install and was done in a few days. Once again, they covered everything with plastic to keep the home as clean as possible. Keenan was on-site daily, answering questions that popped up. He also responded to text messages promptly. After a two-week search, I selected Menora Masonry from four bids for my December 2024 retaining wall and drainage project. Suli, the owner, ran the mini excavator and ensured efficient teamwork during excavator operations Sione was pure strength. He did a lot of the excavating and put up new posts and gates. A lot was accomplished because he had a good work ethic and was trustworthy in every way. Younger Sione, Suli's nephew, executed precise bricklaying while others managed cement mixing. He rebuilt the failing wall sections and also a leaning column with great precision. Task on December 11, 2024: To replace the weak sections of my retaining wall that held the terraced front area of my property. Then run 80 feet of perforated PVC pipe underground along it to relieve the pressure of excess water into an adjoining swale easement. In addition, water in my back garden area, weathered by mauka wind and rain, would pool and seep beneath the slab of my house. Menora jackhammered part of the old walkway and created slope for the water to empty into the same swale easement and away from the foundation. They also built a raised cement barrier along the house. Communication: An area of improvement could have been reviewing our understanding of the planned work in intervals. While communication could improve with mid-project checkpoints (especially during garden water mitigation), post-work cleanup with Suli's son, Suli Jr., revealed excellent attention to detail. The January 2025 storm validated their work - both wall stability and drainage performed flawlessly under heavy wind and rain. I had complete peace of mind for my neighbors below that the wall would hold and not cause damage; and that the garden-side rain would not pool towards the house. From the first site visit to the final walkthrough, everything was seamless. William managed this project very well and guided us through this process with ease. At any point if we had questions he was quick to respond. The showroom they have is great and the experience of setting your preferences on design and materials is quite enjoyable. The only hiccup we encountered is that the supplier of the original tile that had been selected did not come in the size we needed and so it wouldn't have meshed well with the current tile in the living room. William helped us find a suitable alternative and we were able to pivot and are very pleased with the outcome. There were a couple of adjustments during the project but again related to the tile, we changed the direction of the placement which allows for us to replace the remaining tile in the house in the future if we decided to do so. William and team thinking ahead with our needs in mind really provided a sense of care. To top it all off, we wanted this build done ASAP and the team was able to complete the remodel in 8 days compared to their estimate of 10 - 14. I contacted a few companies and received various quotes, some of which required me to travel to various showrooms to select materials which as a first time home renovator, seemed overwhelming. However, when I was contacted by William, he informed me he had previously done renovations in my building and was very familiar with how the management office worked, water shut off, elevator reservations, etc. MY Construction's showroom had all materials/samples in one place where I could put everything together and get a visual idea; he also had tons of photos of examples on his phone to show me. Can't say enough amazing things about William and his crew, not only did he keep me updated daily, but he also handled so many of the nuance tasks on his own, making sure I wasn't distracted at work or taking on any unnecessary stress during the project. (He even dealt with a cranky tenant who had been accidentally double booked by management for the elevator as well as installing all of the new appliances!) The communication couldn't have been better. On to the finished reno; it's truly everything I wanted and more! I'm very disappointed with the behavior of an A&K Landscaping employee during their recent…read moremaintenance work at a neighboring apartment building. On Tuesday, September 23rd, an A&K employee trimmed a large portion of an avocado tree on my property that overhangs into the apartment's yard. While I completely understand and have no issue with trimming branches that extend beyond the shared fence line, what happened afterward was unacceptable. The employee dumped all of the tree trimmings--equivalent to a full pickup truck load--onto my side of the fence without asking or informing me. When I approached him to ask if he was planning to clean up the mess, his response was dismissive and unprofessional. He said something like, "No, it's your tree and it's making a lot of leaves to clean up," as if that justified dumping a huge amount of debris onto my property. I had to explain to him that you can't cut down someone else's tree and then leave the mess behind for the property owner to deal with. Only after I moved the debris back on their side and a lot of back and forth did he finally decide to take the trimmings and haul them away on their truck. To make matters worse, I immediately left a voicemail and sent a text to the company's owner, Alika Peterson, asking for a call back to discuss the situation. I called again later the same day and followed up the next day as well. As of now, I have not received any response from Mr. Peterson, which only adds to the frustration and unprofessionalism of this experience. I was appalled by this blatant lack of respect for my property and their apparent attempt to get away with it simply because they thought no one was home at 9 a.m. If the tree had been a genuine nuisance, I would have been more than willing to work with the property owner to resolve it. However, it is not the decision of an A&K employee to make, nor is it acceptable for them to dispose of debris in this manner. I hope A&K Landscaping reconsiders how they train their employees on handling these kinds of situations and improves their responsiveness to customer concerns.

They took my initial ideas and enhanced them with the lava rock path, back bed and even placed my huge blue pot in the right spot to highlight aesthetic purpose and balance the area. The attention to detail was second to none as I watched them move lava rocks an inch this way or swap them out to ensure the visual flow as well as functional path were right. I don't think I've smiled so much in the past 24 hours watching them do the work and now enjoying the result.
