Really enjoyed our visit to My Old Kentucky Home State Park!…read more My fiancé and I stayed in Bardstown for a few days so we decided to check out this state park since we had heard good things. So glad we did! We walked into the visitor center and had no issues booking a tour. We took a causal stroll around the grounds before heading to the beautiful mansion. There we had Kit show us around the house and gave us the history of the Rowan family, who owned built the house in 1795. She was so kind and informative! You learn about the Rowan's and their cousin, Stephen Foster, who was inspired by the house for his song " My Old Kentucky Home." We appreciated that they also include the history and stories of the enslaved people who lived and worked on the grounds. This is a must visit when in Kentucky!

We participated in an afternoon tour of My Old Kentucky Home and received a group rate of $12 per person since we purchased at least 10 tickets. The tour of the home is self-guided and typically takes less than an hour and then can allow extra time if needed to check out the grounds and/or the gift shop. On this day, however, we had a wonderful tour guide who was impressive with her knowledge about the house and the residents. The house is beautifully maintained and the grounds are also pristine. The visitor center had seating with the option to view a film while waiting. There is also a gift shop filled to the brim with a multitude of items. Plenty of parking. Restroom facilities are well maintained. Overall, a well maintained historical property.

The Bourbon tours were great, my favorite was a small operation called Three Boys Farm, where we were given shots right out of the barrel. Amazing! Tour was set up the exact way we asked.

CopperTop Tours helped my friends and me have a really great and memorable weekend together…read more My wife started the ball rolling by asking some of my friends for ideas for my birthday; one thing led to another, and I ended up meeting a few friends this weekend in Bardstown, with the tours and tastings being the center of the weekend (although Bardstown has plenty of great little attractions to contribute to the overall experience). For future readers, you'll recall that the spring of 2021 was a crazy time, coming off all the COVID lockdowns. Many distillers, who hadn't been open for tours for many months, were finally opening their doors, and demand for tours and tastings far exceeded availability. Tommy apparently has a few connections, and was able to get us the Connoisseur's Tasting at Heaven Hill, and the full tour and tasting at Maker's Mark. The experience was great: The van was large and comfortable, and Tommy--locally raised--knows the area, it's history, and plenty about the distilleries. In addition to the planned stops, he also made an unscheduled stop at the tiny Limestone Branch Distillery so we could taste some craft cocktails and buy some souvenirs. Bottom line: If you love bourbon, and you're looking for a relaxing, enjoyable, and memorable afternoon in the heart of bourbon country, you will not go wrong with Tommy and CopperTop Tours.

From the time we contacted him, he…read morecorresponded promptly with information and suggestions, based on what our interests were, sending draft itineraries before finalizing the customized tour details. My husband wanted to see smaller distilleries, so Bob customized our tour to include several smaller distilleries. With his guidance, we got to have great one-on-one experiences at each one, much more than if we had tried to do things on our own. Additionally, he picked us up at our AirBnb way out in the boondocks of Taylorsville, took us to all the destinations, including lunch, and brought us back to our AirBnb at the end of each day. If you're doing a bourbon trail in Kentucky, you will have the best experience with Bob as your guide. He is well known at all of the distilleries, and walked into each destination with us, to make sure we knew where to go and were well taken care of. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves, talk to some of the master distillers, do all kinds of tastings, all without worrying about organizing itinerary or having to drive back to our Airbnb after doing several tastings. At the end of each day, we were not exhausted or overwhelmed (unlike the day we went to a single distillery on our own). It is definitely well worth the cost to hire Bob and his team if you're doing a Kentucky bourbon tour, or any other tours in the area, for that matter. We saved up just for the purpose of hiring Bob while doing this trip, and it was well worth every penny! There's no way we would've gotten as much out of this trip trying to do this on our own without Bob as our tour guide. He is phenomenal, and knows Kentucky bourbon history, as well as other Kentucky history, inside and out! When I mentioned to him that I was a sourdough baker and interested in seeing bakeries, he mentioned several that we were able to visit later. He also recommended several chocolate shops, which we also visited later. Bob is a phenomenal tour guide, knowledgable about Kentucky history, and I'm so glad we were able to see the area with his guidance. We will definitely book him the next time we are in town!!! Our only regret is that we forgot to take a photo with him to share. I am still disappointed in myself for that. We won't forget next time...
