Worms eating an apple, pure talent and skill from Luke

So, this place is red hot and there is a very good reason for that. The coffee is not only sublime, made with true skill but consistant, consistant, consistant. Nothing I get frustrated with more than going to a place getting a fab espresso, then next time it's terrible or just plain average. NOT HERE!! Luke and his staff of very skilled Barista's show that you can make coffee after coffee perfectly. The Cleanskin coffee is divine, particularly the Blend #14. So good, smooth and robust I don't need the one sugar I normally always have in my coffee. It's a long skinny space, with some cool local artwork on the walls, humour on the mirrors about people who don't really get *coffee* and some awesomely funny and risque A Frame comments. There is usually a few sweet treats available to nibble with your delicious coffee. And there is the bottled iced coffee for a hot day. This is one place you must come at LEAST once to try. My absolute favourite place in Brisbane for coffee.

VERY bad first experience. Bitterly disappointed in more ways than just the coffee. Flat, bitter, weak.... Totally not what I expected. I would have taken the coffee (if you could call it coffee) back if I thought they would do the right thing and replace it with something I 'expected' from them, but they were rude enough to serve a 'regular' who just sat down while there was a cue of two people, they questioned my order, clearly didn't like my clarification on what I wanted and proceeded to serve a coffee so badly I tipped it out and bought again elsewhere. Let me explain... I really LIKE coffee... I order a double piccolo that I prefer made with two ristrettos rather than a single twin pour, if the cafe has 'form' (Yelpers seem to really RATE this place), so had to give it a go. They told me they don't have a single pourer, so I asked for a two x double shots (stronger and bigger)... Then had to clarify that it should be 50% coffee extraction & 50% milk. (Same as a regular piccolo, just twice as much liquid)... I'll give them another go when I'm back in the area (only because everyone thinks so highly of them & their abilities), but first bitter, rude, arrogant impressions last. Reference for a piccolo - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ristretto

Pretty pretty pretty good. I'm always torn between here and other nearby coffee places but LTD is always one of those places you can get in and out quick, even if there's a queue. The coffee is always top notch and they've also got a killer range of cold pressed coffees for a hot day. They have some small food offerings - muffins and toast etc, so it's a nice place to grab a quick brunch on the go. The seating is minimal but they do have a long bar to sit at too. Definitely a place to scope out for coffee lovers.

Amazing coffee! I was only visiting Brisbane so was only able to come here once, but I loved my cold soy mocha made with dark chocolate served in a bottle. The barista was super cool too and made my sister's coffee with care and attention.

Small spot, with a huge taste. Best coffee I've had in years!!! Luke and staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The cappuccino is flawless. The flat white is also a work if art. If you're a coffee lover, look no further for the perfect brew. It's right here.

The amazing barista working the day I went worked really hard to make my koala latte!

I've been wanting to try Bunker for the longest time, and today was the day. I love the vine covered hub, which reminds me of a burrow, and of a cafe that I used to visit back in L.A. Instead of getting my usual latte, I went for the bottled ice dark chocolate (5). I'm not the biggest fan of hot chocolate, as it's usually too sweet and heavy for me to finish (I know, strange, because I can finish a whole Chipotle burrito), but I decided that the unusually warm weather called for an iced chocolate. We were greeted by a really friendly barista who helped us right away - and well - the iced dark chocolate and dark chocolate mocha were pre-bottled, so there wasn't much work. The iced dark chocolate, made with organic milk (I think?) and fair trade chocolate, was quickly consumed! It wasn't too sweet, and I would definitely go for it again. The iced dark mocha was also really good, and not at all grainy, which often happens in a lot of mochas. My only complaint was that the bottles were a bit harder to open (I prefer Bean's bottles), and the straws were too short and kept falling in! The drinks were so delicious it didin't matter though....

It had been a long while since I visited a cafe myself and had a bit of me time. Reverends Fine Coffee is situated in the Fortitude Valley neighboring a bunch of other cafes and restaurants. I ordered a skinny cap and one lamington. The coffee was amazing and I really appreciated that they used real chocolate on top instead of cocoa powder. The coffee was silky and smooth. It didn't give me that bitter and acidic aftertaste, which was to my appealing. As for the lamington, I liked it too but the cake was a bit dry but the chocolate coating and coconut shreds compensated the fact that the cake wasn't moist enough. But the good thing was the lamington wasn't overly sweet. Another thing I liked about the café was their interior design and layout of the cafe. The café is divided into indoor and outdoor seatings. I chose a table inside as shown in the pic. I loved the industrial vibe the room provided (that brick wall was everything) and the art works on the wall were well appreciated and gave an artistic feel. The music playing in the background was also really soothing and relaxing. The service was alright, but not outstanding. Except for the the brief moments where I placed my order, there was basically no more interaction with the staff. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. Will go back some other time.

Probably the best coffee you'll find on Wickham terrace. They have a small but quality range of cabinet food including wraps, paninis, cakes, and biscuits. In winter they have lovely soup but they don't make much and it sells out early in the day. The staff are helpful and efficient and the prices are reasonable. Because The Mill does the vast majority of its business with medical staff and patients who are only around on weekdays (Wickham terrace is pretty deserted on weekends) , The Mill isn't open over the weekend which means that it's not going to be an option for a Saturday or Sunday morning coffee if you happen to be in the area. The Mill is definitely a venue more suited to winter, because with it's very sunny outdoor only seating on the concrete patio of Watkins Medical Centre, it can get pretty scorching in summer. The same characteristics make it a challenge in the rain, although they do have large umbrellas over some tables. The outdoor setting can be a drawback on really hot or rainy days, but in general is a plus because of the frequent pleasant breezes and beautiful fig tree out the front. Like the pharmacy next door, The Coffee Mill is a cafe/restaurant designed to service all of the medical specialists working in the building and surrounding centres, as well as the clients of these specialists. I've frequented The Coffee Mill a few times, typically when I've gone to see my ear, nose and throat specialist to have my sinuses "cauterised" (a very interesting procedure which yes, does involve the burning away of the sinus tissue to assist breathing.) Leaving my specialist without being able to feel part of my face because of the anaesthetic, I'm careful when I'm eating here. I always order a coffee and I don't need it spilling down the side of my numb, droopy lips. (I can be clumsy enough on my own, thanks.) The coffee is decent but I always find the food here to be excellent. The last time I visited I threw health concerns cheerily to the wind and bought a beef sandwich, spilling out gravy all over the table without a care it was just that damn delicious. I was ravenous at the time and indifferent to the few people watching a slight-figured girl-woman devouring a sandwich like it was her last meal. This questionable novelty wore off after a minute or two and I ate my meal outside, fairly undetected. There's some relaxing out-door seating here, perfect for people-watching. Of course it's not an upmarket cafe, so you're sitting at a dirty-ish table on top of a cement floor. But anyone with eyes can see that before they come here, and I find this contributes to the cafe's casual vibe.

The girls there were friendly, but a bit disorganized service-wise (throughout my entire meal). I ordered a coffee to start, and as expected, was just alright. For sustenance, I had the corn fritters with smoked salmon on the side, but I almost didn't finish the corn fritters! They were lukewarm, chewy, and tiny! There were two - and smaller than the size of my palm, with a bit of smoked salmon, a poached egg, and rocket with tomato relish (that just tasted like tomato sauce). The presentation and the service were alright, and their lunch options looked good by the way other customers were chowing down... but they really need to work on their breakfast if they're going to keep serving it all day!
