Short people get the best care. If a med aid calls in on a short term house they pull from long term making them wait on their meds. My mother is on meds that need to done at certain times and when they pull the med aids she does not get them the way she should. I have been actively looking for another facility to move her to.

I appreciate being reached out to by someone representing the facility. The resident's families need to be heard and their concerns taken seriously and addressed. I know it was only a pizza but theft is theft, no matter what it is big or small. And for a facility to not even care to try to make an effort to call and rectify a problem was inexcusable. So if you do not think your reviews are read they are. It may take a while to be contacted but if the business cares you will be contacted. I was after I had almost forgotten about making a review.

She was in Dallas for acute care and was discharged to Abilene rehab facility where she started her rehabilitation. After about 6 weeks and slow progress, it was suggested by the therapists that she would benefit from being transferred to TLC, a post acute brain injury rehab center. Our family was somewhat cold to the idea but since our insurance approved it, why not give it a try? On the 2nd day at TLC, my wife was walking with minimal assistance!!! We were happy and extremely impressed at her progress. Counting 6 weeks now, she is walking on her own, feeding herself, and gaining her weight back. This place is where miracles happen. We cannot say enough thanks to the wonderful staff. We need more places like this in Texas.

I think…read morethe difference between those places and stages of recovery is the strong sense of community and support that was always readily available to me whenever I needed it. I moved from the east coast which wasn't an easy decision for me to make but the folks over at stages made that transition less difficult as they became family to me. I can honestly say that stages made more of a positive impact on my life than anywhere I had been before. I don't know how to be grateful enough for the people at stages because without them my life would not be where it is today!

Don't let those pretty pictures fool you…read more The problems I encountered included: Bed sores - they refuse to help you prevent them; Medicine - good luck getting it. They give you the wrong meds, not all your meds, sometimes no meds bc someone took the one key home; Aides - 99% of the "care" is handled by them and most are lazy and that's if you get someone to respond to your call light in under an hour; Dietary - if you have special needs, even just diabetes, they cannot/will not accommodate you - the head guy admitted to never hearing of the ADA diet! They lost track of at least two patients while I was there. Also the nurses tell you other patients business. The worst tho is how most didn't wear gloves to check my blood or handle my pills. Disgusting! Edited to respond to Garrison: I just left the facility. I heard the new management fallacy at least 3 times. Also the medical director is in charge of the UMC ER, so when I was taken there and they wanted to keep me the director said I had to go back to Garrison, where I got the raging infection and huge bedsores! I chose to go home (exactly one day before I was due to anyway!) and he had the nerve to say I left the hospital AMA. Not true! You have my number, why haven't you called me?
