USA Boxing picked a wonderful space to host the 2021 Junior Olympics - Boxing. Facility is spacious with plenty of seating (early in the tournament!), ample Parking, far from the summer heat - AC on high! Really great facility spotless and fresh!! read more

I visited the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center to pick-up my Lubbock Ironman race packet and check-out the event vendors. The location and building was the perfect venue to hold the event. read more

Every year, Lubbock has its annual Gem and Mineral Show and compared to the others I've partaken in the past. The selection was vast and the participating dealers made me come back for more and more every year. However, that isn't the case for Lubbock Gem and Mineral Society shows. The selection isn't as vast as I've known and the dealers that do participate in the shows are mostly looking for fast cash and don't seem to have a passion for gems and minerals. This past and last show was horrible! A lot of dealers were selling either fake or dyed rocks which contain no value. There were a lot of newbie dealers who are only in the business to rack up cash but know absolutely nothing about the specimen that they are displaying and selling. Also, this show is small but not as small as the Tyler Show (which wasn't as bad as this, but still great). I did spot a few of my favourite dealers that I've met from previous shows (Houston, Clear Lake, and Tyler Gem and Mineral shows), but from their expression, they weren't too satisfied with the show (and location) either. Additionally, the facility is small and they don't seem to do much for setting up. However, parking is great. read more

The lubbock civic center is the base for quite a few of the events, concerts, and festivals that go around in lubbock. It hosts the lubbock symphony, play, the annual pancake festival, and lubbock to name a few! The center is actually suprisingly big and well maintained. The people in charge keep every event very organized and can be quite strict. It's a great resource to the community and it's great to have a place to host a lot of the events that make our lubbock community happy. read more

I came here for the first time this past weekend to finally sign up for my library card. I'm…read moreimpressed, even surprised, by the quality of this library for it being in Lubbock. Also, this location was my only choice because it's the only branch open Sundays. The collection is entirely on the main floor. When you come in, fiction is mostly to the left and through the center, children's in the back left corner, non-fiction center back, and a huge section for genealogy research in the back right corner. In the front right side and corner is a computer area open to all visitors - it seems like a first come first served situation. There's also an armed police officer who seems to be always on duty here at a desk near the front. It's actually my first time seeing this in a library, and I come from a much larger city. Staff was helpful in getting me signed up. Probably the greatest benefit is in being able to join the Libby app for ebooks and audiobooks. But nothing will beat the brick and mortar library for things like graphic novels and a nice focused place to study.

For a growing city, I think they should be expanding their stock of books, but you can generally find a book or two on your topic of interest.
