I visited the Lubbock Lake Landmark because they have a couple of hiking trails, a 4 mile and a 1…read moremile. Somehow when I heard park I expected trees. But this is like a dry lakebed that is also an archaeological site and they have a neat little museum. It has fossils, indian artifacts, and displays about the past history of the area. The museum is geared more towards middle school aged children, had some neat exhibits of things they found in the landmark, wasn't all that big. There are some large bronze statues of ice age animals outside the museum that are cool. And it's free to get in too. There is a handicapped-accessible trail behind the museum that is like a slightly raised boardwalk that I assume would showcase digs, but there weren't any going on. I went in early January though and they said Spring and Summer are the best times for digs. The long trail is not handicapped-accesible, it is gravel and quite long and meandering. It went by a prairie dog burrow, but I didn't see any. Possibly because some other people aead of us were hiking with several dogs. Dogs are not allowed there according to the parking lot sign. There are some picnic areas near the museum that are nice, and I spotted about 10 different bird species including 3 different types of raptors and some coyote tracks. It would probably be nicer to go here in the spring because I saw remains of many different flowering plants and it would be a more attractive walk then.

We did however have issues with the placement of benches in the museum. When we drank our coffee we sat facing a window that had a huge rectangle in our line of sight. Another bench had a plaque on it to show maybe dedicated or donated to the museum, was in a dimly lit hallway. One final bench, was placed too closely to art. You can sit and relax on it and hit your head on fine art. Other than the coffee and the misplaced benches, this museum is delightful. The updates they've done are beautiful and I love coming to see the new exhibits.

You're charged $10 to see two very small rooms that consisted of a bedroom set a table, a couple guitars and a motorcycle. There is an art gallery I was told, but it was closed so I'm not able to attest to what is in there. I will say the gift shop is pretty nice and I can see where a lot of people would find some unique things in there, especially if someone likes unique glasses. I was very tempted to get a pair of Buddy Holly glasses. The people were not overly friendly, which is unusual for Lubbock. At least now I can say I've finally been there.

An unexpected journey occurred upon my recent visit to this establishment. Dun dun). After our entrance into this newfound land that we thought to be our saving grace, our guiding light into the film we were all ecstatic to view, some minutes passed and then we were informed to make the treacherous journey back to the esteemed Theater #3 the place of our first defeat. Our fellowship did not falter, although we did lose a helmeted soldier, we carried on, we had to see it through. We settled back into this place we thought we had left for good and made it as homely as we could with our limited resources. Conversations of our travels were shared and laughter erupted within those walls that we thought no longer held any joy within. The minutes passed and passed but our resolve never faltered. Like waves breaking through a dam we were hit upon with the crash of being informed that they were unable to get the film audio up and running. Our hearts took the information with pangs of pain but in our minds we still had each other and they could not take that from us. We had each other. Though we did not have the shared experience of watching a film in the company of another we did share the experience of not watching it and being there for each other in a time of hardship. Maybe that was the point of it all, being there for each other when unexpected incidents occur. Taking comfort in a strangers company and knowing that we are not the only ones in this predicament.

A coworker took me to English Newsom sellers and I was very impressed by their wine selection and wines that I normally drink. They carry a variety of lines from sweet to dry. Their cab was delicious along with one that was aged in a bourbon barrel. They offer a variety of appetizers and charcuterie boards that you can order. I also love the fact that they have bingo nights that you can attend with your spouse or friends. The Ambience is lovely as well. We are always greeted with respect and the girls are so friendly.
