Still on a quest for the best Italian around portland. I would say lucca is a 4.8 Not amazing but not at at all. Service was great Drinks were great. The rose especially was extra tasty. Definitely a really good Cesar salad, enough for two to share or one hungry person. Anchovies were delicious, not too salty. I ordered the ragu pasta which was a giant portion, two can share, for sure It was good but not the best, again Luce and decarli are still better. My friend ordered the mushroom pizza, it was good. Both dishes were missing something, I can't quite put my finger on it, but it was not bad at all. Bonus points ; they have parking, I would say a more family friendly atmosphere, I would come back with the kids for sure.

Speechless...best Italian restaurant in Portland. Everything is made in house, it's a cute, intimate spot with ambient lighting. Dan was a fantastic waiter, answered all our questions, and was so generous! You HAVE to ordered the bolognese, it is incredible. Thank me later!

    Delicious!

I had a lovely experience dining at Lucca! The restaurant itself was very cute inside and had a warm welcoming vibe to it. Our waitress was great and very attentive. The wine we ordered was delicious, took a picture so I can buy it again. The food was excellent too! My gnocchi dish was presented in a way I've never seen done before and I'm here for it! Will definitely be visiting again.

Felt terrible after realizing our mistake, but this is also on our waiter. Pregnant and pregnancy brain is real. Usually after my husband signs the bill, I double check and make sure it's accurate. Unfortunately our waiter didn't even give the opportunity to double check the bill and was hovering waiting for husband to sign the check to immediately take it. I've never experienced this at a restaurant before, especially if we haven't even finished our dessert. No the restaurant wasn't closing either so not sure why he wanted to take the check right away. Essentially we realized that my husband only tipped $18 instead of 18% when we got home. Both our bad. But honestly a piece of advice, pick up the check after we leave. He 100% made us feel uncomfortable as we left too, especially not realizing our mistake until we got home. If we had realized the mistake and was given the opportunity to actually look at the check, he would have 100% gotten the tip adjusted, but again no opportunity to as he waited for my husband to sign and immediately take.

I just want to start off this review by saying I don't really review places unless I am completely blown away by the experience and Lucca did not disappoint. I was there last Saturday (8/9) for a dinner with my bachelorette crew, all 13 of us, and all by chance. We originally had a reservation at a different restaurant that cancelled on us due to a tragedy, so we scrambled to find a place for a large party within hours. What was at first a panic was fixed in moments by a guardian angel that was a host at a sister restaurant that told us to try calling Lucca, and this is where our night really began. So if you are so lucky to be graced by our servers presence, Dylan, who was the man of the hour all night. We came in and had no game plan and he picked up on that right away and said he was happy to guide us through dinner by starting us off with grilled peaches and the freshest burrata. He coursed us out without us even needing to think about anything, the dinner feels like a fever dream as I reminisce on it now. We had two salads, the creamiest risotto, the halibut, juicy steak, multiple pastas, and I know I'm missing something but we were catered for. And every drink, glass of wine, and dish that touched our table was devoured and admired all the way through. We ended with desserts which none of us thought we could possibly have room for, but as the saying goes, life finds away. That man was a giver to us all that night, and I am not joking, we all gushed over Dylan for the rest of the trip. Screaming his name to the skies whenever he popped back into our heads. He was truly the main course, and a gem to that restaurant. He took a photo of us all referencing the last supper photo. It was all clear we had stayed well past them being open but not once felt urgency for us to leave. Just completely cared for and was apart of our experience until the very end. I long for a meal at Lucca again the next time I'm in Portland. Long Live Lucca, and long live Dylan!

Great service, great food, great bar options, and good staff. I will definitely be returning. The quality of food was impeccable. From the salad, entree's, and drinks were all top notch. Great location, decor, and ambiance. Staff was very attentive and welcoming. Great staple location in NE Portland.

Dearest gentle readers,…read more A most scandalous correction must be issued how careless of me. The establishment in question is none other than the divine Grassa, a name that now rolls off the tongue with the same richness as its most indulgent fare. And oh, what fare it is. Here, along the lively stretch of Portland, one may witness noodles brought to life before their very eyes fresh, authentic, and handled with a confidence that borders on audacity. These delicate strands are then enrobed in a mac and cheese so decadently composed, so brazenly elevated, that it dares to redefine comfort itself. And just when one believes it cannot be improved enter the pig belly. Crisp, tender, and unapologetically rich... a finishing touch that transforms the dish into something whispered about in only the most exclusive of circles. Yes, dear reader, this is the sort of indulgence that lingers long after the final bite... the kind that ruins lesser versions without remorse. And so, with that final truth properly set, I take my leave once more. The tales of this fair city draw to a close, but not without leaving behind a most delicious legacy. Until our next adventure ever eastward. Yours most faithfully,

The food was freshly prepared and served promptly to the table. They have a selection of alcoholic beverages as well. I've worked my way through a good portion of the menu over the years, I have a few friends that love love coming here and for good reason! They do not take reservations so be sure to get here when they open to get a good seat if you're coming with more than a party of 4. And while the chicken parm wasn't my favorite, literally every pasta dish I've had has been excellent. Also the penne cotta? Wow. The wild mushroom ragu is rich! My personal favorite is the squid ink pasta with scallops - I've ordered this one a few times and it always slaps. Don't skip the focaccia. The bread with their olive oil is simple but truly unforgettable. The cocktails are consistently great, the atmosphere feels on brand without feeling stuffy like olive garden, and it's perfect for a date night, anniversary dinner, or catching up with friends. Portland has a lot of Italian restaurants, but Gabiano's remains one of my favorites.

I've been to southern Italy (Amalfi Coast) and the authenticity shines through. Piazza's menu is northern Italian and traditional the Italian American marriage we all know and love. It's what Olive Garden promises: to treat you like an Italian family member. When you walk in most of the employees snipe at each other in Italian. Cured meats hang from the ceiling and soccer plays in the background. That's like every actual Italian restaurant I've been to. Their wine list is simple and ultimately not that impressive. It's there to accentuate the food. They have a solid spritz. Whether you choose a dish with fresh pasta or dried (they serve both, depending on the dish) it'll be prepared beautifully. I've been coming here for years and I've tried nearly every one on the menu. Last night I even shook it up and got it delivered: the quality still held. One thing to know: that dish that in essence looks like carbonara is NOT carbonara. It is delicious, but be advised it contains ribbons of actual egg.
