Love the transformation of the space from the former Bollywood Theater. It's large and spacious, with plenty of seating inside and there's also a nice patio with lots of covered outdoor seating. The restaurant format is counter service. You order at the counter, take a number, and they'll bring your food and drinks to your table. The servers come back and refill waters, and clear your table. In addition to pastas, they've got a delicious focaccia and I loved the Manila clams. When you walk in, there's an Italian market with wines, cheeses, fresh pastas, tinned fish, olives and olive oil, and more delicious artisan food items to take home. Everything you need for a picnic or date night at home. I came here with a group of girlfriends, but also saw lots of families here so it's definitely very family-friendly. A fun spot in SE! This was a "one and done" experience for me. We paid $100 for 2 pasta dishes and 2 glasses of wine + 20% tip at a counter service restaurant where you order and take a number to your table. Extremely overpriced IMO. They don't offer complimentary bread like many other Italian restaurants at this price point. The ambience was lacking. It was around 8pm on a Saturday night in May and they had all the doors wide open so it was freezing inside the restaurant. The service was a bit cold as well. The food took a while (about 25 minutes). We ordered the parpadelle with beef short rib ragu and that was the better dish. The noodles were perfectly cooked Al dente and the sauce was tasty. It was a small dish for $26. The lasagna was terrible. It was a tiny piece for over $20 and the top layer of pasta was burnt to a crisp. There wasn't much to it in terms of ingredients or flavor. A few shavings of cheese on top and tiny mushrooms and some lemon. Totally underwhelming and possibly the worst lasagna of my life (including microwave lasagna). The nail in its coffin was when we hit the end of our wine glass we realized the server poured a huge amount of sediment. I'd let is slide as an accident if it was just 1 of us who got done dirty like this but we BOTH got a giant mouthful of sediment at the end lol. For $15 and $16 a glass I don't want to choke on old wine skin at the end. read more

I immediately found this to be a beautiful space upon walking in. You first enter into the market area with menus to grab. There is a ton of seating and it's very open and comfortable. The food was stellar. The salad was fresh was simple and delicious. I absolutely loved the mint pappardelle dish. It has fresh and subtle hints of mint rolling around with tender lamb and sturdy noodles. Yum! The market has a big selection of bottled wines, treats, fresh noodles, and nice pantry items. I got the tiramisu and some cute bike shortbread cookies that had rosemary to go. This would be a great place to get a nice gift for someone. I'll be back for sure. read more

We agree with some others that the model feels a bit odd to have candles and cloth napkins like a nice sit down restaurant but order at the counter. We and other behind us all missed the menus right inside the door. Then a wait person does come around to bring more water, take more drink orders or dessert. So finish off the atmosphere and let us sit down first and take our order. On to the food. The sugo was good but didn't have the depth of like Cibo but better than the last time I went to Three Doors Down. They explained why the pasta was softer than typical al dente because of the type of flour. It was nice they offered extra Parmesan and I would ask right away next time. I am very intrigued by the to go items too. My husband had the beef stew and it was good and with a nice rich sauce. I have eaten here before, but this time was so special. I would say every other time we ate there, it was about a 3.5 to 4 star experience, whereas this time it was a solid 5/5 star experience. I went with my girlfriend and her family. It was a party of 7 and they luckily had a table open for us. No reservations and no wait time. We knew that we had to order at the counter, but the server had already checked in on us and brought us water within the first 5 minutes and had asked if we had any questions. It was really nice. We all ordered shortly after that. My girlfriend and I split the lasagna, the cappelletti, and a starter of focaccia with whipped ricotta. To drink we had sparkling water (no free refills :/) and a Mexican Coke. Other family members had the ginger lime soda (wow whoever made that seriously needs a raise!!!) and they absolutely loved it. Some other dishes we had tried from other family members are the mafaldine neri, chicken allá diavola, and the mushroom pappardelle. All these dishes were so fresh and tasted so wonderful. Each dish truly took my breath away and it felt so comforting eating in such a positive environment. My favorite of the 4 dishes was the mushroom pappardelle. WOW it was seriously so fresh and tasted so incredible. We all finished the dishes and the 4 orders of focaccia. Another tasty treat was dipping the focaccia in the sauce of the cappelletti. I almost finished that dish without realizing we were supposed to share it! It was that incredible. All in all, the meal, hospitality, and drinks were the bomb-diggity-bomb! On a warm summer's evening, the setting for supper is excellent. We ordered a Green Bean, Peach, and Burrata salad that very much exceeded expectations. The color/flavor/texture combinations were compelling, and the roasted hazelnuts gave it a real touch of class. For the second dish we ordered Mushroom Pappardelle. The texture of the pasta was perfect. The mushrooms and sauce were outstanding. I'm giving this place five stars because, 99% of the time, they've been wonderful about putting together a vegan dish for me. I live in the neighborhood, come in regularly, and the service is usually consistently great. For any vegans reading this: don't assume there are no options for you. Usually they start with a pasta and build something around whatever ingredients look good that day. And honestly, if you're someone who wants to support local businesses, it's nice knowing they'll actually make an effort to feed you. Otherwise, it's hard to become a repeat customer if there isn't anything you can eat. They've found a way to make vegans feel welcome without needing an entire separate vegan menu. The funny thing is, they don't really advertise this as an option; I don't know why. Maybe they don't want to make promises about availability or put extra pressure on the kitchen, but if you're vegan and out with friends, it's worth asking. They've made it work for me 100% of the times I've visited. One of my favorite things is that it's never exactly the same. Every visit has been a little different, and it's actually been really fun seeing the creativity and variety they come up with. That said, I had an odd experience during lunch today. I brought a friend and was treating her, and the staff member working the cash register helping us (someone I don't remember seeing before) seemed quite hesitant about the vegan option. She repeatedly said she wasn't sure if they could do that, which surprised me because it's something they've done for me many times before. I explained that I'm a regular customer and asked that she just check with the kitchen. She came back saying they seemed confused or "bewildered" by the request - which was interesting, because they still ended up making a vegan dish anyway. To be fair, I understand this is an off-menu request and not a standard listed item, so I completely understand someone newer wanting to double-check. What felt strange was how hesistant she was to even ASK - and guess what: later she mentioned wanting to create a more consistent meal option for me so I wouldn't get something different every visit. I appreciated the thought but I actually enjoy the variety. I don't want the same meal every time - I like having a similar experience to other customers and getting to try different things depending on what's available and what the kitchen feels inspired to make. Aside from that one unusual interaction, the food is great. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, though it can get a little loud when it's busy. Due to some sort of confusion in the kitchen, one dish was delayed until we spoke up. But we received apologies and a comped dessert, which was a good way to deal with it. A good portion of your reviews have told you to stop with the pseudo service concept. Take the advice, hire a staff, and STOP this practice immediately. You can't charge customary higher prices and expect people to seat themselves, come to the counter to order, and don't have anyone dedicated to their experience while there. It is also extremely pretentious to show me a screen requesting a tip (starting at 18%) when I am doing a portion of the work. Why am I coming to your establishment if I can produce the same quality at home and have to seat myself? The zucchini ravioli was also a winner, delicate thin pasta filled with creamy cheese and roasted zuchs- love! Lots of wine options and a cool market with take home goods. Lasagna is also delicious, super crispy edges and idk how they get so many layers packed in there. The ordering is a bit weird. It kind of disrupts the flow of a nice sit down dinner with friends if you all have to get back up and wait in line for another glass of wine, leaving your food at the table. We were greeted warmly and quickly placed our orders before settling in at our covered patio table. Fluffy chewy focaccia and hearty perfectly seasoned minestrone did not disappoint. Even the side salads hit just right, but the star of the show was the Panino Bollito. Juicy, flavorful, melt-in-your-mouth braised beef on a perfect roll with an amazing, herby verde sauce and chili oil (which I could not get enough of) and accompanied by perfectly crispy housemade potato chips. Met friends for a relaxing late lunch at Maglia Rosa yesterday. I had been curious about this new restaurant after reading about it online. It was a hit! Great atmosphere. Very mellow vibe! Extremely friendly wait staff. We ordered and chatted with our friends while waiting for our food. Everything was excellent! The sandwiches were on crunchy focaccia bread and the ravioli looked scrumptious. I can't have gluten so all I could have was the Caesar salad. The salad was really good so I did not suffer.
