We were actually heading to another taqueria, but this place looked great and was crowded with families, sending off a good vibe. We went inside and found friendly people happy to walk us through a menu that included taqueria favorites as well as a few things I hadn't seen before. We ordered a veggie burrito, chicken tacos, quesabirria tacos (served with delicious consumme for dipping) and chile relleno platter. Portions were large and the food was phenomenal though my mild-palated kiddo found it spicy. (For me, that was a plus and a sign of authenticity). Extra kudos for the delicious salsa and fresh tortillas. To top it off, the cost was super affordable/reasonable. This neighborhood restaurant never fails to satisfy. Always delicious, fresh meat, and super affordable. A lot cheaper than going to a regular restaurant. If you want more bang for your buck, get the daily specials they offer, usually under $8. It's a small little building with dine in available, cutely decorated for the holidays and clean. Everything is so cheap here. I got a carne asada burrito the size of my forearm for $9. They were extremely fast. It's definitely a hole in the wall but we all know that's where the best food comes from. I'm only here in Klamath Falls for 3 more days, and I will visit here 3 more times. read more

Wow a little place in the middle of nowhere but excellent food and service, we walked in and we're greeted right away, the place was full and everyone was happy eating their delicious food! We were on a road trip and wanted a good carne asada burrito. Found this place on yelp with good reviews, so we decided to stop in. Very small and crowded inside, run down and not the best looking building, but that didn't bother us. We ordered 2 carne asada supreme burritos (supposed to come with sour cream, guacamole, cheese). The employee was nice and rang up our order and we sat down to wait. Then we noticed the sign on the wall for meat options did NOT have Carne Asada on the list... we wondered why the employee didn't say anything... but we figured all Mexican food places have carne asada, so it should be fine, right? WRONG! When we took our order to the car we started eating and noticed it was not carne asada, it was shredded beef which was very drippy and tasted burned. We were starving and decided to just eat it anyways since we had to get back on the road. Then we noticed there was hardly any cheese in the burrito and absolutely no sour cream... until we got to the VERY BOTTOM of the burrito and our last bite had one small DOT of sour cream in it. Both mine and my boyfriend's burrito were exactly the same with the one tiny drop of sour cream in the last bite. We just wish the employee would have been honest up front, and told us they don't have carne asada and that they were probably running low on sour cream, instead of charging us for a "supreme" disaster of a burrito. read more

Talk about a hole in the wall spot to find some amazing food! I believe Lucero's may actually be in the dictionary under such a heading. We ventured down after going to the children's museum and working up an appetite. The place is about as unassuming as it gets - small digs inside an old Dairy Queen, with seating for maybe 10 inside. The menu is pretty extensive for the space they have and, to make things even more excellent, they've got pictures of just about everything on the wall! We got a smattering to really see what they're made of! The four of us split some tacos, tamales, chiles rellenos, a sope and another dish that was similar to a sope, but with a little more crust. All were excellent! The chiles rellenos was some of the best we've had and the sope was AMAZING! The green sauce they had on top was a perfectly flavorful accent without a ton of heat. Top it off with Capri-sun for the kiddos, a Mandarin Jarrito for papa bear and a Horchata for mama and we had a happy bunch driving off! The feast was something like $20 and could have fed 6 pretty easily. The family (I assume it was a family) working here was super nice and did a great job answering my many gringo-esk questions about some of the menu items. This rivals anything we've had up in Washington, and they make some good Mexican food up here! Keep up the great work Lucero's! read more

I can't say for sure the cause, but my digestive tract was in turmoil for the 24 hours after eating here. I had only been eating my own food and cooking lately, but stopped here on a road trip. I enjoyed the taste and quality of a burrito. It was so large that I only ate half and took the leftovers for another meal. Well, I'm throwing it out. One of the best places to get a chile rellenos. Light fluffy batter like air, so hot you'll sacrifice some burnt mouth to eat the first bite. The place is COZY, but I've never been in when I couldn't sit and eat it there. Great horchata. The birrira is usually on special and I recommended it highly. Although I liked the papusa, I'll ask for pickles with it next time to offset the richness. read more

My husband and I are new to Klamath Falls and discovered Luceros. So glad I read the reviews because it does not look like your typical restaurant in your typical location but it did not disappoint. Let me start by saying first of all that the young man that took our order was very welcoming. I ordered to mini burrito One Carne asada and one chicken. They were a good size and could only eat one. Had the other one the next day. Both were amazing and very flavorful. My husband had a large Carne asada burrito and said it was great. He is a burrito guy so that is quite a compliment. Let me also say that our food was prepared hot off the grill while we waited and the aroma was so yummy smelling. Food is very authentic. We will definitely be going back. read more

In the former Dairy Queen across the street from Mills School, a barricade of white iron bars over the windows gives a forbidding appearance, but the aroma of authentic Mexican flavors invites you into Lucero's Taqueria. This friendlier, cozier alternative to Taqueria Las Morenas is just a couple blocks up East Main, and it boasts a broader menu than Las Morenas including pupusas. The secret of the pupusa's brilliant flavor and value has gotten out in larger cities, but I'm pretty sure that this is the only place peddling this comforting Salvadorean delight in the Klamath Basin. I tried a pupusa and two tacos al pastor during my first visit to Lucero's. The tacos contended toe-to-toe with those at Las Morenas on the flavor front, but they were packed a bit more generously, thus snatching the crown. The pupusa was different than others I've eaten...crispier, less moist, pounded flatter but with a larger diameter approaching a personal-sized pizza. Pupusas are always provided with salsa and curtido (sorta lika a spicy slaw of pickled carrots and cabbage). Unlike other curtidos I've experienced, this was mostly shaved carrots, but it was okay. Lucero's pupusas are not my favorite pupusas, but they were imminently edible and then some, and a good gullet-filling value for $2-3. Old Dairy Queens can be repurposed as Mexican restaurants pretty naturally, especially on the interior where the brickwork--seemingly in a state of arrested early decay--resembles a quaint little taqueria in old Mexico. I ate at an ancient place in Tecate with a similar vibe. I've loyally returned to Las Morenas each of the last dozen times I've visited K Falls, but from now on, I will be splitting my allegiance, and when I don't have enough time to eat at both, I will be choosing Lucero's as my new favorite. read more

Went here and ordered two carne asada supreme burritos. After ordering, we noticed there was a sign on the wall that showed what meats they had and it didn't show carne asada, but I figured they must have it because the person that took the order didn't say anything. When we got the burritos, it was not carne asada, it was a greasy burnt tasting shredded beef. Since we already left, we figured we'd just eat them anyway. There was also supposed to be sour cream in them. While eating our burritos we both noticed there was no sour cream in either of them. When we got down to almost the last bite, there was about a dime sized dot of sour cream in each, so they basically knew they didn't put the sour cream in but put a dot at the bottom of each I guess so that it was in there technically? Pretty much didn't put any cheese in them either. Maybe they have other things on the menu that is worthy of the good reviews but the person that took our order should have told us they don't have carne asada and that they were running low on sour cream and I guess cheese. We both wished we had gone anywhere else. read more

The sauces/marinades are what sets this place apart. Anyone can wrap burrito-like stuff in a tortilla (and so many do). Only a few places bring delicious marinades and sauces that can send the bore-rito to another level. Located in one of the sketchier, run down parts of town. Looks a little dilapidated on the outside. Don't let the looks send you away. Head inside for (probably) the most delicious burrito in K.Falls. read more

What an excellent surprise in Klamath Falls, Oregon--- we had a long day, had been traveling too many hours--- asked someone at our Hotel front desk about a Mexican restaurant down the street--- she recommended Lucero's instead... and boy are we every happy she did! Authentic, delicious, homemade, food--- we are from Southern California- have lived in Ensenada, Mexico as well-- So believe me when I say they do it right at Luceros! I have been there twice and must admit to being disappointed after reading all the glowing reviews. The tamales are quite good but the homemade tortilla in the pupusa I had was thin and dry on the edges and thick, doughy and under cooked in the center. The entire dish was neither moist nor sumptuous and it took quite a bit of water to get it down . The place is quaint but cute. However, it is winter and the little dining room is unheated which will make eating in quite uncomfortable unless you bring your winter coat. read more

I had a pork tamale and a chicken sope that were outstanding. My daughter had the three cheese quesadilla with steak and loved every bite. We were both full and with two sodas our total came to $15. Looked at all the Mexician places from Weed to Klamath and they all said the places were dirty. This place is really clean and food is great. I had 3 tacos with Chicken, beef and pork, all really good with chips and salsa to go. All from scratch and really good. It was okay. Restaurant was clean and well lit. I would recommend asking about the type of tortillas they use in some of their dishes as you would expect corn versus flour but in their Dishes where they should use corn they use flour which throws off the entire dish. They charge $.50 per salsa which is a joke it's a Mexican restaurant. read more

Apparently open for 13 years (and 4 or so years by the current owner), I thought hmmm, 6 reviews? But I saw the nice bright interior while driving by so stopped in with the family on our way through town (exterior of other place down the street wasn't too inviting). I'm glad we did; the food was fresh, big, and good. Papusas made to order (big ones for $3.50), and a big tasty wet burrito with sour cream and guacamole for $7.50. Homemade horchata also tasty ($2 for a large with just enough ice). Try them out yourself and give them some props on yelp! read more
