We recently rented this studio space as a prep day headquarters for an upcoming photo shoot, and…read morethe experience was so wonderful! It fit the bill for all our needs, including wardrobe review, fitting, catered lunch, and production logistics meeting. Things I loved about this studio: * The staff--everyone I dealt with was so incredibly nice and professional. They answered emails/call promptly and were knowledgeable & accommodating. They made the process so easy, from booking to final payment. * The space. Not a huge space, but big enough to fit a boat on a trailer (which someone from another shoot had done, when I came to tour the space), with some room left to spare. The studio had everything we needed, including a hair/makeup room, kitchenette, and private bathroom with updated, modern fixtures. It was clean and offered all we needed, including rolling racks, tables/chairs, extension cords, etc. * Parking--they have a small lot out front and will provide a couple of spaces for you. In addition, there is another lot around back and plentiful street parking. All in all just a genuinely lovely experience with some really nice people. The staff is very professional and very easy to work with from start to finish. The space is perfect for small to medium shoots and has a nice hair/makeup/wardrobe room that includes wardrobe racks, directors chairs and mirror. The studio also has tables/chairs for craft and lunch/dinner use, private bathroom and kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave. There are plenty of great food options nearby or within delivery area (if you don't want to leave the studio). Samy's Camera store is close by for any last minute items you may need (which has come in handy in the past). There is limited parking on site, but additional free parking is nearby. The huge roll up doors makes loading and unloading large items a breeze. This will continue to be our top choice when shooting in Pasadena!

They shot our friends' weddings very early on and now they are our circle's unofficial wedding photographer. They are so good we choose them (LA-based) over many of the Bay Area photographers in our own backyard. Their work speaks for itself. It's hard to describe their work and style because it's really just awesome art. We also bought an album from them and it was spectacular. Yes, our wedding did cost an arm and a leg, but Apertura was one of the few vendors that was worth every single penny. We highly getting their album package... if you can afford it. They are a hot commodity now, but still maintain a level of humility that is admirable. People as good as them usually have big heads (we know, we've talked to many of them), so it's refreshing to see talented people get the recognition they deserve. But onto the real review... Apertura as a wedding photographer (they do shoot non-wedding events and commercial work as well): if we word to use one word to describe their technique it'd be "stealthy." And if there was second word, we'd use "intuitive." They shot our engagement session and wedding day so we know their technique pretty well by now. We also blog-stalked them for months before our wedding, hoping to take the best type of shots from every couple. In the end, it didn't matter. They shoot fast and furious, but with a genius eye. You won't realize how talented they are until you see them work. We were in San Francisco's Embarcadero Center and we moved from site to site without wasting any time. This is key during an e-session shoot and your wedding day. You want to spend the most time with your friends and family while still capturing key, breathtaking moments with a professional lens. It's still very hard to describe how great their work is. Their portfolio will speak for itself, but what differentiates the good from the bad photographers are technique and professionalism.
