Another 8 mile training run, and another metal bar in Brooklyn to quench my thirst. Awesome vibe, great music, sexy pole dancers, cold beer, and live bands were again on stage in the back room. Pretty diverse crowd too all into the same music. Love it. Heck, even the mozzarella sticks were damn good

Not a single Finnish heavy metal band on the walls but good one to take a couple of drinks and talk

My friends band was playing here so we went to the show. And from the outside looks like a regular bat but as you go in there's a bar to the right that has dancers on it! For your boozing pleasure and a stage in the back for the local and up and coming bands. Real cool underground joint . Night we were there it was 15 to get in but probably different on lineups of bands . Mostly rock and metal bands here but worth a look to see some cool acts.

After work, I walked over to the downtown-bound station to catch the R train to Union Street but there were delays. I was panicking that I was going to be late because I do like to be on time for shows. I got a little lost when I finally got to Union Street station apparently I can't read Google maps so well lol. Note: Keep walking straight on the same block as the Speedway Gas Station then make a left turn. I arrived at the music venue a little after 7 pm...phew! I gave the woman $10 for the door cover and told her that I was here for Human Calligraphy (https://www.facebook.com/humancalligraphy/). She put a yellow wristband around my right arm. Thank god the band was setting up their equipment on stage. They were supposed to start at 8 pm but their sound check wasn't complete yet. My boys Human Calligraphy performed at 8:11 pm and played 5 kick ass songs. Usually, an enormous mosh pit will form in front of the stage but not tonight so I can really enjoy their set. I was so happy to rock out with Gio (the frontman) tonight because it has been a decade since I rocked out with his other band Ismada (https://www.instagram.com/ismadanyc/) - they're back ::screaming:: This was actually my very first show back as a music promoter and I go by dev0tedanna (https://www.facebook.com/dev0tedanna/)! I really, really, really miss rocking out though! Check out their Happy Hour from 2-8pm! Also, they serve food...wish I saw the sign earlier because I left starving hehe

The only memory I have of this bar is when it existed on like 15th or 16th street in south park slope and decided to go on an ill planned bar crawl with someone many many years ago. I possibly lost my cardigan here and the guy I was dating at the time was too afraid to come back to find it. Came to the not so new anymore location over in Gowanus the other week for a show. I will say, there is something at every angle of the bar to take a gander at. Horror movie posters, masks, dolls, etc. It's halloween all year in the heavy metal world. Drinks are somewhat affordable (these days) for their happy hour which goes on until surprisingly 8pm. Not a terrible pick of beers either on draft. I'm surprised. They had craft beer across the street from Wild East brewing. They serve food which is another shocker. I guess microwavable pizzas, fries, onion rings of a sort. Back room has a stage for performances. It's a little grimey but it has a fun shtick. Reminds me of Duff's quite a bit in Wburg. They have go go dancers on the bar later in the night post happy hour. If you're into heavy metal or cheap drinks or just looking at weird shit this is the bar for you.

Best bartender in Gowanus... for now.

Nice metal bar, good parking and modestly priced beers. And the friendliest bar tenders for at least three city blocks. Bring your metal friends.

Looking for a 13$ pitcher of margaritas*? Maybe a local metal show? Luck 13's is the place for you then. On the Gowanus-Park Slope border, this place is decidedly Gowanus. No frills, no-nonsense, this is the kind of bar that you come to for exactly two reasons: *To see a show *To earn a hangover without spending a lot of money Beer is cheap, liquor is cheap. Beer and liquor together are .... yep, cheap. The staff is also very cool. Yes, they are dressed like they are going to a metal show, but that's mostly because they are going to one. I've only been in on a Friday or Saturday, but every time I'm here there is a band setting up to play, and I have to say, I really love that. It doesn't matter what kind of music you're into, it's awesome to see live music playing in dive bars still. Come here to see a metal show, and if you're so inclined, get drunk enough to participate**. The cover to see the band + the price of your drinks is sure to be less than your bill would be at a cocktail bar on 5th (not that I don't love you bluprint...you're just too classy for me sometimes). ____________ *Neither was I, but damn if that isn't a good deal...and a recipe for a hangover. **Are pits still a thing? When did I get too old to know the answer to that

This is a solid heavy metal dive in the heart of BK. They have happy hour pitchers for $10-$13 a pop. From 2pm-8pm. They serve simple food such as tater tots, onion rings, Pizza and Mac n cheese bites. There beers on tap are limited but can make a killer cocktail. The shows usually start around 8:30 pm and it varies on who is playing for the price. It a grungy loud scene, yet super fun to visit for a night!

How many ill-advised beer/shot combos can you have in a single night? The answer to that question: 1. Lies within Lucky 13. 2. Actually depends on your body weight, history of alcohol abuse, and how much you've eaten and drank prior to walking through these dark doors. Whereas the previous incarnation of this metal bar was a small, sordid sanctuary smack in the center of the strollerville that is the Slope, this "new" Lucky 13 has landed in the already industrial, still slightly sketchy but rapidly gentrifying Gowanus. Unfortunately, as I only end up here on rare weekdays, I still have yet to see scantily-clad pole dancers, fights, and/or anyone decked out in piercings, spikes and chains. Even without those trappings, Lucky 13 is still quite obviously a metal bar. If you didn't figure that out from the heavily decorated walls or the stage in the back room (sparsely attended standup comedy on Wednesdays, evidently), the loud deathmetal coming over the speakers (pairs surprisingly well with Arnold as Conan on the TVs) should've been an indication. Because bars don't play that music unless they are metal bars. When one unintelligible song came on after the previous unintelligible song, I turned to one of my friends and said, "This is my jam." But it wasn't. It really wasn't. I was unsuccessfully just trying to fit in. Luckily, alcohol makes everyone feel at home, and happy hour runs from 2-8 pm here. Even when it isn't happy hour, lots of alcohol can be had for not very much money. If that's what you're looking for, or if you're trying to find where metal lives, Lucky 13 is your spot. Unsurprisingly, it's cash only.

I came to to this place with one of my best friend bc I heard it's a great metal bar. Only to find out it's an ahmazing metal bar, with beautiful and personable go go dancers who pole dance right on the bar, and crazy live bands and metal blaring out into the sidewalk. I have no complaints at all. The staff and owner are considerate and fun and my friends and I had a blast. Will definitely come back!!!

Went to this place for an event (Rumblers C.C. 2016 pre-show @ Lucky 13 Saloon) and was not disappointed about this venue at all! Here's some quick info about this place: - no cover charge ($10 if you want to see the live bands) - alcoholic beverages were only $6, the bartenders were very cool too - heavy metal music - very cool decor - live bands play in an area situated at the back of the place, the sound is also decent Ok! So the place has a "rail-road" layout, from the front all the way towards the back! The bathrooms are located towards the middle of the place and the bar pretty much takes up about the whole front of the place. Loud heavy metal music and some cool bloody flicks playing on the flat-screens, then after about 10 p.m. Go-go dancers hop onto the bar wearing skimpy outfits, so be prepared for all of this! This is when you know the bar you are in rocks! I asked the bartender for a "May Breeze" (for the wife and NOT for me ofcourse), his response: "what is that?" Awesome place if you are into heavy metal, bloody flicks and some really cool decor! Highly recommend it!
