    Cheesesteak
    Jennifer S.

I've heard about the food at Lucky 7 for a while but haven't made the stop until today. I got a whole cheesesteak with onion, mushroom, and provolone, an order of fries, and an order of onion rings. The plan was to share with my mom. When I got home I couldn't believe how much food. This could have been shared between 4 people. The steak was tender, the cheesy nice and melty, and the toppings delicious. I loved the soft roll. The onion rings and fries were delcious. I'm excited to try more things. Fyi... cash only.

Lucky 7 might just be Syracuses favorite convenience store, and with good reason. Best known for their food offerings, while you can get great deli sandwiches, you can also get several different food offerings that range from hot sandwiches, to wraps, to Nashville hot chicken, veal parmesean, burgers, riggies, beef tips over noodles, sofrito chicken with spanish rice, and everything in between. Their constantly changing daily specials and wide variety of choices is to blame for their consistently out-the-door lines during lunch & dinner hours. Lucky 7s has a great reputation on all the local Syracuse food groups, not just for their food, but their service. The owners have given back to the community when they could, especially during the height of COVID, where they handed out many free meals to help people who were struggling. I've been to them a couple times, and they're always great. Everything is fresh and home made and you can tell in the flavors. They don't skimp on the amount of food they're giving you, and you're usually getting enough for 2 meals and extremely reasonable prices. Some meals I've had here have been under $10 and had enough food to feed me more than once. Employees have always been friendly to me. You can order ahead of time to pick up, but sometimes the phone just rings and rings cause it's so busy. They have a small crew of hard working employees. Have the usual offerings of most convenience stores, but they also have a good amount of drinks, snacks, etc that you don't see in any big name convenience stores. Those are the pros. The cons are few, mainly the small parking lot and the fact they only take cash. The small parking lot is regularly full, and even if you get a spot, cramped enough that it can be difficult getting in or out, and with where they're located, there's no on street parking. I understand why some small businesses only take cash, but it's a con for me personally simply because I'm not a cash carrier, and if I were able to use a card, I'd eat here much more often. Not enough cons to not eat here though - as long as you have cash.

    Baked ziti
    Faye G.

I use to love the hot food from the deli until my last dish recently. I ordered baked ziti. The ziti was mushy and there was absolutely no cheese at all. I sent a picture and email asking about the dish because I wanted to know if the cheese was mistakenly left off and to let them know that the ziti was overcooked and mushy. I didnt get a reply from them. I think I will stick with the haddock which is very good.

My favorite spot for a lot of different types of food. Incredible service the guy who runs it is a very kind and friendly guy. Totally worth checking out. The ambiance is pretty nice, it's got a range of drinks and the food tastes home made and delicious!

    Veal parmigiana with pasta
    Joanne R.

Best takeout in Syracuse without a doubt! They have their daily specials (which Monday is my favorite eggplant parmigiana). The sauce is light and flavorful with thinly sliced eggplant and pasta. It is huge and a fantastic deal at $11.99. I've never had a bad meal there. Today I got the veal parmigiana and terrific as always. Whenever I'm the area I order something. You can call in your order and they will have it waiting for you. Checkout daily specials on their Facebook page. It's nothing to look at from the outside (typical smoke shop) but you must try this!!! Owners are very nice also. Family run local business which I love to support.

Country style chicken over sausage gravy and pasta. Mildly spicy.

Harrison bakery fresh rolls holding more meat and cheese than I've ever seen on a sub sandwich. The meat and cheese was sliced fresh and then I got lettuce, tomatoes and onions, thinly sliced on the slicer. I chose not to get any condiments... knowing this would take me a few days to finish and I didn't want it soggy. There aren't really set subs listed...he just asks what you want. I asked what he could put on an Italian sub and I got ham, salami and pepperoni. Everything was fresh and delicious and I could only eat about 1/4 of my sandwich. The BEST!

They have a little deli counter in the corner without any menu or selections displayed. Just a list of available deli meats and cheeses. I thought maybe with the way people seem to like this place, there would be more to it but the place couldn't have been more straightforward. I don't know why that caught me off guard. The guy just looked up and asked for my order and I fumbled for a second. Oh right, yeah I guess I'm getting... some subs. There was a language barrier, so I pretty much just took it into my own hands to list everything I wanted on the subs based on what I saw on the menu. They don't really have any pre-builds, so when I constructed the Italian sub through my order, they tripled up the meat. That time we had one regular turkey sub, and one absolutely packed sub with full portions of salami, pepperoni and capicola. I don't even know if they charged extra for the actual heap of meat they gave me, because they still came out to less than $10.00 a piece. They also have Jamaican style beef patties/empanadas. I don't know if they make them or if they're frozen, but around here they're not usually that different. I got mine in bread with lettuce and mayo on it like an empanada sandwich. The process was confusing because there was no feedback. When the guy asked me how I wanted it, he just shrugged and said "you can get it however you want. Everyone's got their own tastes." I tried to feel it out like do people usually order empanadas like a sandwich? "You're the customer, I'll make it however you order it!" A few more of those and I stopped asking. Whatever, put it on bread, let's sandwich this thing up. Anyway, the food is ridiculously inexpensive, and the subs are excellent quality. I don't really know the metrics for deli subs beyond hit or miss. It must be the meat they use, because the sub rolls were totally standard, and there was nothing special about how they were made. Even at the same pricing, I'd take these over Wegmans, DiBellas, Firehouse, Jersey Mike's, Jreck, any of the good deli subs I can remember getting in Syracuse. Don't overthink it, just come by and order a cold sub the way you want it. Great price, great quality, adequate service.

In addition to the Chopped Cheese, Deb serves handmade "Dubai Chocolate" with his special pistachio filling - another recent internet sensation. But it's the unique combination of salty and sweet sandwiches that Deb said customers can't get enough of, including their Oreo burger - a double patty cheeseburger with oreos and a top bun that has white chocolate and crushed Oreos on top. So for anyone who uses TikTok, this was clearly influenced by Ocky's bodega videos, but in my opinion, it was smart to do something like this here. I've seen the videos and as soon as I saw this place start popping up on CNY FB food groups, I knew I had to try it. When you walk in, it's been nicely remodeled inside. It's a basic convenience store for the most part, but there's a hot bar with several offerings, and if you look at the menu, you're not gonna see the crazy creations - you're gonna see normal offerings like chopped cheese, ribs, burgers, etc. Sam, the owner, is almost always there, even making a lot of the food himself, and told me whatever I saw online or that I could create in my head, they could make it for us. Very nice guy. My wife and I both got a chopped cheese, but I asked for mine on a Jamaican beef patty, while my wife asked for hers on a honey bun, and we both asked for mozzarella sticks in the middle. We also got a side of potato wedges. 2 sandwiches that came with fries (we didn't realize they came with fries or wouldn't have gotten wedges), side of wedges and 2 drinks came to about $40. We got home and dug in. Both were delicious. My wife is a huge sweet/salty fan, so she loved the sweet honey bun against the salty mozz sticks and beef, although the honey bun definitely had softened from the fillings. Wedges were great, fries were fine. Food fed both of us twice as well. This is NOT a place to get a healthy meal, but if you're down for something delicious, outta the box and really only limited to your convenience store imagination, definitely give them a try.

I was nearby and decided to buy a bar. They were just starting to fill their hot case with food and the chicken wings smelled and looked delicious! The Dubai chocolate bars are decorated differently but all the same ingredients... milk chocolate filled with pistachio and kataifi (crispy phylo dough shreds). It was delicious! It is expensive but worth treating myself occasionally.
