Wonderful adventure... more than 20 miles of ATVing around a massive ranch, bringing you close to the bison as well as some amazing vistas. Guides are friendly and have some great information to share. Quick drive from Steamboat Springs. Don't forget to stop and see the llamas and alpacas!

The ATV ride and tour at lucky 8 ranch is worth double the price of admission!! The views are breathtaking and Emily the tour guide is the most confident knowledgeable passionate person. You will be so happy that you took this tour. And again, A shout out to Emily the tour guide for making the day spectacular! We can't thank you enough.

Had a great time on the tour and Nick was a great guide, full of information about the ranch and surrounding land.

    Up-close with the bison!

Visiting Steamboat for a week and this was among our favorite activities! I brought my 8yo son and he loved it! We did the 3 hour tour and it was just the right length - a good mix of adventure, information, and fun. Operation was efficient and easy to book. Only suggestion would be to include a snack (which I think was mentioned on their site).

    Great views of the bison

What an amazing experience riding through beautiful scenery and getting to experience bison close up! Chris was a fantastic guide and is so knowledgeable about both the bison and the surrounding area!

It's been three weeks since our amazing family vacation in Steamboat Springs and I can't stop thinking about the wonderful experience we had snowmobiling at The Lucky 8 Ranch. I was going stay behind and not go with my husband and son because I've had some bad snowmobiling experiences. But, then I read about the bison and I really wanted to see the Bison. I was anxious at first, but the team that took us on the tour was outstanding. Our tour guide Nick was the best. Very knowledgeable friendly and professional. He took the time out to explain everything. The views were amazing! This was definitely one of our best family experiences.

We had the absolute best time snowmobiling yesterday at Lucky 8 Ranch. When we arrived, we checked in and were fitted with helmets, googles and boots. (No need to bring your own). We then headed outside for safely instructions and overview of the snowmobile and how to drive it. I have to admit, I was scared out of my mind! The staff was amazing at calming my nerves. Once on the snowmobile we had a fun 2 hours of touring the area and visiting the Bison herd up close. Once in a lifetime experience! The paths were well groomed and at sometimes challenging - which was great! At the end we had a free ride in a wide open area where we were able to let it rip. We visit Steamboat every year and have taken snowmobiling tours in the past. Lucky 8 Ranch is far superior to any other company. Their snowmobiles are top notch and they have the highest safety standards. We will definitely be back! As a side note- the road conditions driving to and from Steamboat were not good. It snowed a lot and even though we had a 4x4, we slid off the road and ended up stuck in a bank. We called a few tow companies but in the end, the owner of the ranch, Dwayne, saved us. We are forever grateful for him and his kindness I highly recommend using their pickup service so you don't experience what we did!

Awesome tour, wonderful sights, excellent people and service. Cannot recommend this enough. We found out that we needed a third driver for our three kids- only one passenger per machine. They put our third kiddo on the machine with the guide at no charge... really impressed with their professionalism and service.

    Bison so close!

Amazing tour and totally worth the price. Would recommend for anyone who enjoys a little adventure along with great views, not to mention cool Bison! We learned a lot and had a wonderful time.

Polaris Ranger side by side convoy

Wow! What an experience of riding through the ranch with amazing views and great education around bison. We were able to drive Polaris Ranger side by sides across a lot of the ranch with breathtaking views. They were easy to handle and the trails were very mild. We went during a very dry patch, so the dust was heavy. It did not "cloud" the fun we had. Our tour took the full three hours, but there were several spots to stop and a bathroom break in the middle. If you are in the area check them out!

We booked the sunset tour with our kids 6&7, arrived at the ranch around 6:30 and were greeted by Nick our tour guide/ranch manager. They have a really nice facility/equipment everyone was fitted with helmets, goggles, dust masks and given instructions on how to operate the ATV. We rode for around 2 hours across the 3100 acre ranch up hills, down hills, across creeks through mud etc. We rode through a herd of bison several different times and it was awesome to see them up close within 20ft. Stopped on one of the higher ridges to watch a beautiful sunset and the guide brought sparkling grape juice along with snacks for everyone. The ride back down in the dark was very fun as well. Our entire family loved it and would highly recommend it. They run a great operation and it's obvious they are passionate about what they do. The Ranch is 45 minutes from Steamboat and there is basically nothing in between so get gas etc before you leave we almost ran out but they were nice enough to give us some!

When you arrive to…read moretheir store location it's about 30 minutes of admin stuff before you load the buses to head for the launch point. You fill out the wavier paperwork, get a speech from one of the workers, and go through the line to your life jacket and paddle. They also have shoes for rent if you need them. The bus ride to the launch point is about 30 minutes. The staff do their best to keep everyone entertained while your on the bus; telling jokes, telling you facts about landmarks, and the local area. When you get to the launch point it's about another 15 minutes before you get on your raft. They go through another 5-7 minute speech about the water, how to maneuver, and all the safety stuff (just in case crap goes wrong). Then they split you up into groups and you load the raft. We truly had a blast on the raft and I never felt like I was at risk of injury, or unsafe through the entire ride. From start to finish it was about a 2 hour trip; but it went by really fast. I could have rode the river for at least another 1-2 hours. It was super chill and some of the rough waters (class II and III) didn't last long but made the ride very exciting. We did stop for about 30 minutes at a point where you can jump off a cliff. There is a 25 foot cliff as well as a small jump spot for kids (my 4 year old jumped from the small spot). I did go up to the 25 foot jump (along with about 30 other people). Jumping was not a problem at all because you walk up to the edge and simply walk off for the jump. They don't give you anytime to look around, think, or get scared. 30 people jumped off in less than 7-8 minutes. It felt great!! The ride back to the main store was much shorter; about 15 minutes. Overall we had a great time and it was well worth it.

Be prepared to be paired up with other families who may talk your ear off and miss commands from the guide. That got a little frustrating since we were literally there to raft only. The scenery is gorgeous and they are accommodating. be prepared to pay extra for anything, of course, as per usual. they also ask for tips which is understandable, so be prepared for that. the bus ride out to the river is long and uncomfortable when sitting next to people you don't know. extroverts' dream come true, but again, if you don't like having your ear talked off, you may want to avoid.

I accidentally went to the wrong address because I used Apple Maps instead of Google Maps (which they clearly recommend), and I was so stressed thinking our entire trip was ruined. Instead of making it an issue, they showed us nothing but patience and kindness and made extreme accommodations to take care of our group. All week long, their team was incredibly helpful making sure I had the correct bus reservation for our one-day snow trip from SoCal. They were responsive, reassuring, and truly made the process stress-free. Anders was amazing to work with, and our guide Ben was fantastic, so welcoming, calm, and great to be around while traveling with a child. They made our family feel comfortable and cared for from the moment we arrived. What really stood out was how accommodating they were with our gear, they handled everything with zero judgment and even comped our gear, which meant so much to us. Traveling with a child can be unpredictable, and they were nothing but understanding and supportive. If you're looking for a company that truly cares about families and goes above and beyond, this is it. We wouldn't book with anyone else. Sage Outdoor Adventures sets the standard for customer service and family-friendly experiences.
