Legend has it that the Pie is SO good, folk even get it to take away. There's a Sunday Pub Quiz, Saturday DJ, and sport on the big screens. So why folk want a takeaway is a mystery to me!

Recently refurbished, they have split the main bar away from the Bistro to allow children to enter and reduce the noise. Good plan! The menu has been overhauled and they don't have as many dishes on the menu as before which is a lot better for the kitchen ensuring quality over quantity. I ordered King Prawns with Calamari, my mom Haggis Fritters and my sister in law Black Pudding in Breadcrumbs with a Chilli Sauce. No complaints. They were tasty and well presented. We then ordered Balmoral Chicken, Fish & Chips and a Chicken Burger. Portions are extremely good for the price, food was cooked fresh to order and of a good quality. There was only 1 staff member within the bistro when I was in looking after 4 tables, which was okay but we did have to wait at times to be served; not her fault though. The dishes are a little expensive for a Bar Bistro in Erskine, but you'd expect to pay more if you dined in Glasgow for the quality and size of the portions. Our bill for 2 courses and numerous drinks for 3 people came to around £56. Not THAT bad when you think of it. All in all, the Whuppity Scourie is much better than it's predecessors and I hope it's hear to stay.

It's all Good…read more Whether it's an old man propping up the bar with his old friend Lagavulin, academics debating Richard Dawkins latest outburst over a Bitter and Twisted, burger munching students questioning why they went to uni in the first place, or Tennents swigging fußball cheerleaders, you and your mates will find someone to associate with. And this is the perfect spacious pub to meet those mates, or even come in on your own to rest those smelly feet. No one here will judge, man or woman. There was talk of Tennents renovating it, gentrifying it if you will, but a petition soon put a stop to that (I think?). It'd be a pity if that happened, coz it's kind of a 'heritage' pub, or at least it should be with Glasgow's history seeping out from every nook and cranny and even sitting on some of the seats. Its horseshoe bar's commanding, decked out in antique pine, backlit by large engraved brewery mirrors and well stocked with ales, lagers, spirits and wine. There's a large floor space to stand at busy times, plenty of seating and even a snug if you want to get away from the crowd. They also say there's a welcoming gay corner up by the left of the bar, but I've never noticed any distinction. Yes, the food's cheap pub grub and you get stared out if you dare sit in a regular's seat (only during the day, I think), but I still find Tennents a great place to drink good beer, while away an hour or three and stare at Chinese students devouring the spare rib and chicken wing combo (that last bit sounded weird :-/ ) Oh, and I tend to sit at the back on the right hand side, under the brewery mirror. I'm good at staring.

I think because it's a bit out the way for me I never made the journey. This was the marvellous idea of Miss Angela B. who made a suggestion about a wee Yelp night out to a quiz. Gathering some of the Yelp peeps from all corners of Glasgow and putting our wee heads together to become the all powerful Yelp brain, we headed on down to the quiz night run by Sir James. OK so maybe we weren't a big powerful brain but we certainly had a good laugh. We were in the lead for most of the night, so not bad. I liked Bar Gallus, I liked the atmosphere and the decor was bright. I thought at first it was dead but it certainly filled up and this was only a Wednesday night. It must get pretty busy on the weekend. Oooh the added bonus is they sell fruit beer, hello!! Unfortunately I was driving, school night, so soft drinks it was. Next time!! The quiz was excellent and Sir James (I'm sure he's related to Harry Hill) had it spot on, making it a really enjoyable evening. It wasn't too slow or too fast and had plenty of good banter, he certainly has a few funny bones to give you a good giggle. Its just a gutter we didn't win. Och it's all about the experience. Right?

This pub, although being tucked away on a quiet corner where Church St meets Dumbarton Road, lives up to its name by having a lively atmosphere. Brightly lit and with booths tucked away like little bunkers on each side of the room, you can get yer chat on or have a wee dance to a local band in equal measure. Bands use this space to play quite often - there's a makeshift stage area by the door. This usually draws in a mixed bunch of people, from young cubs to Papa bears (that actually sounds a lot sleazier than I intended, I apologise!) There's a decent selection of booze and the surroundings are nice. But Gallus, for all its prime location, doesn't have the synthesized, pretentious attitude of a style bar, thus making it permeable to all who walk her way. A lovely place to warm your tootsies over a wee whisky this winter!

First of all, get something to eat here, for the mighty MEATHAMMER inhabit the kitchen, and they have burgers of immense goodness and size. For my money, Meathammer consistently produce the best and most imaginative burgers that Glasgow has to offer, and at a decent price too. The staff in here are a lot more helpful and cheery and just downright nice than I remember from the last time I was in here. Not one person I spoke too seemed to be put out by any of my daft questions about the food, or the seating outside, or the football on the telly. The space itself is pretty amazing. It's a lot bigger than you would expect upon entering down the fairy light laden hallway - and there's a huge beer garden at the back with several big comfy leather couches - would be ideal for watching the football on, if it hadn't been raining earlier. The beers on tap are nice and cold; I had a pint (or 3) or Innis and Gunn and really enjoyed it. Side note that may be totally World Cup related - during the half time break in the football, they turned the sound of the TV off and put on music. A nice relief from having to listen to the "pundits" do their thing and bore you to tears. On the whole, The Record Factory seems to be a nice change to the other bars in this part of town, and I'd definitely return again. Especially for the food. Oh, the glorious food...

It is hard to find though if they have the shutter down on the room (they apparently open up this shutter to the main room but if it's closed you need to walk through a pool room and past the toilets to find it). The main room didn't seem overly busy for a Saturday night but maybe it picks up later on. It really has a cheap student vibe to it which isn't necessarily a bad thing - it's just not my thing. I didn't visit the toilets or go to the bar so I can't comment on these aspects. I would return here in future if I had a reason - otherwise, I can't this being a place I'd visit for a drink when there are other places nearby that are much nicer.
