(go figure) So we went on a casino scavenger hunt to find a bottle of Scotch Whisky (Protip: all scotches are whiskys but not all whiskys are scotches, this will come in handy later), specifically Lagavulin 16. It's an Islay (the smokiest region for scotches) Scotch and it's a spendy one, but it's quite common. I've gotten it in small towns in Oregon and Oklahoma and Idaho. We went in here and a kind, older woman helped us out. It was quickly apparent that their selection was very limited (and very disorganized). However, being helpful as she was, she went and got the bartender to make sure they didn't have what were looking for. This man acted in an aggressive, condescending, belligerent manner. He said he had NO IDEA WHAT WORDS WE WERE SAYING. He said WAIT R U LOOKING FOR SCOTCH OR WHISKEY, WHICH ONE?! He mentioned going to a liquor store, we reminded him that liquor stores in his town were closed on Sundays, and that's how we ended up here. We asked what other casinos might have a better selection. He said HERE. HERE WOULD BE YOUR BEST BET, BUT WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN BILLINGS...OR IN THE WHOLE STATE OF MONTANA. The location on Grand (Wardens Grand Casino, vs Wardens Casino) is a larger and newer version of the original. The only thing I didn't like about this place was their website has tons of stock photos of casinos and slots and it is not pictures of THEIR casino. If you are going there expecting that you will be very disappointed and the owners should realize this. I had envisioned a Vegas style lighting, crowds, sounds and excitement, bank of slots (like their website depicts) and an escape from the dingy and dimly lit pub casinos that plague Billings...but sadly I found that this is the extent of it here. This place was just a larger version of it . While I have visited both their locations during the day AND night, it lacks the customer to customer friendliness you find in major market casinos (not the casinos fault, that's just people here sticking to their own group). They are extremely friendly with the workers but not with other customers they don't know. Simple efforts to make conversation or ask a question or offer congratulations were shut down quick. That's disappointing. It was also freakishly quiet to where you could hear other people's conversations several feet away but no exciting sounds of casino games, most of the games are turned down. As a girl from major market casinos this was a big change and it killed my gambling buzz a little. I felt like I was playing one of those 50 cent tabletop games at the bar when you sit on a stool waiting for your drink. The host at this location, Joe , was very personable and attentive. He was attentive on drinks, snacks and making change, keeping bathrooms clean, food station wiped down and cashing out tickets....on the flip side the girl at wardens on 4th , the attendant was not as on top of the room as Joe was (it was equally busy, both scenarios were slow). I spent a few hours there, made $80, and left. Wings were served for snacks. That's an interesting food choice given your activity uses your fingers to eat them and using those same fingers on the machine after they've been on your food and in your mouth. I passed on that one . Science doesn't support the claim that a napkin kills every form of bacteria or germ when touching screens and buttons after they've been in or near your mouth. Positives were joe the attendant, making $80, finding clean bathrooms, and a fairly large selection of games per seat (not necessarily a large selection of seats but each one had many options) Negatives were the website photos are bait and switch due to using stock photos. No drawings or giveaways during the 2 hours I was there today or the 6 hours I was there yesterday at their other location

I had heard alot of good things about this course and was ready for a great experience. I have to say I was extremely disappointed. Most higher end courses I have played will give you a heads up when there are things going on as far as maintenance and renovations green punching etc. When checking in there was no mention of anything to be aware of for the day. Needless to say pretty much the entire course was "under some sort of construction" with the course torn up for renovations etc! Many holes had crews working on and around the fairways with not much regard for players hitting their shots. I was extremely disappointed in my experience with what is considered a high end course to play. We were charged full price ($100+) each for this round. No complimentary water???? Needless to say I will not be back. We played Briarwood the next day and the experience was like night and day in the positive sense. At the very least YCC could have let us know the construction going on or maybe even offered a slight discount on green fees.

I have been a member of the YCC since 2004 and have witnessed its recent transformation. WOW what…read morean incredible face lift! I watched the old clubhouse with lots of wonderful memories be leveled last year and replaced with a gorgeous, well thought out, and beautifully designed structure. It is apparent that we have a hard-working staff that really takes pride in their beautiful new surroundings. I feel blessed and grateful to be a member of such a wonderful club and look forward to the coming years.
