She was young, with dark hair and wore her hat backward. She seemed nice enough right off, but then a few minutes later, she was having a conversation with another employee and the f bomb was flying everywhere. She said to the other that she was doing something but didn't want to f with the other. If this had been taking place in the bar area that would be more understandable as it is more an adult atmosphere, but this was in the dining area where families frequent. A few minutes went by and then a gentleman cam in and sat behind me with a young boy of about 9 or 10 years old. The f bombs and other swear words just kept coming with loud boisterous talking across the room as they were vacuuming and sweeping. All while everyone was trying to eat a peaceful meal. I don't think this is the kind of place I want to frequent anymore, nor my friends who mostly have kids. I was eating there at least once a week but now I think I'm done. Employees acting like that in front of paying guests is a real good way to lose business in this town. The attached mini casino also had no takers but there were a few of us out on the patio enjoying the good tunes and Summer warmth. I'm an IPA fan, they only had two but both were local and quite delightful, nice and bitter to my liking (really recommend the Canyon Creek!) Chad was working behind the bar and he was super attentive to us on the patio. He even made us one of his specialty vodka drinks with his homegrown cucumbers to get our opinion of it. If you are looking for a drink with a view there isn't one here, just a small field and the firehouse, but hey if you have a medical emergency while at the Den the paramedics can literally run over - I think it would take them longer to drive around! I said ma'am this is a small steak and fries and she began to lecture me about not asking about the meal when I ordered it. I asked why would I ask when it clearly stated tenderloin sandwich. She also told me it had been that way 40 years. Well, it has been wrong for 40 years. I would have forged ahead and ate it if it was edible. It was absolutely terrible. It had the consistency of liver and was fried hard on the outside and completely flavorless. I said let me pay and get out of here. She stomped off to talk to the owner whom was the guy I had observed drinking a lot of wine at the end of the bar. Then he proceeded to tell me I was full of it because his tenderloin was his most famous and desired steak and everyone loved it. He said Montana was known for beef and asked where I was from. Montana might raise beef but this not so fine establishment could not cook beef to save its life. Even after I paid the bill the waitress continued to bother me about it as I was trying to leave. But that doesn't stop the camaraderie, the everyone-knows-your-business, but not in bad way, joking about it all. There are daily deals for drinks. The food menu is as basic as comes: burgers, fries, onion rings, hot dogs, pizza, and quesadillas. The grill is there, off to the side of the bar. Pool tables, machines for the gamblers, and the music -- sometimes even live music. Pop's is a classic.
