I came here for a late shop about a half hour before closing time on a Saturday night. It was time to restock on snacks and beverages. I don't come to whole foods a lot so it was was fun getting to peruse the the aisle for interesting finds. I saw a rather pricey mushroom jerky ($10 for a small package) alongside the beef and turkey options. They have a ton of vegetable based crunchy snacking options. There were lightly baked and seasoned broccoli florets, cauliflower crisps in a variety of flavours, and cubed and freeze dried fruits of all kinds including pineapple, mango, apple, and kiwi. One section that is great at Whole Foods is the kombucha section. They have a ton of different brands, including local ones, and in different sizes and flavours. Some of these were on sale, a couple of the GT ones. They did somewhat vary in price point so it was nice to not have to get a super expensive option. Some other areas of note included where the fresh flowers were. These were very reasonably priced and they had a lot of different bouquets to choose from. There was also signage noting that the roses are pretty ethically sourced which was cool to see. Another thing that I noticed was that at this time of night their workforce was out in full force restocking everything so this is actually a pretty nice time to go if you're looking for really fresh stuff! read more

First time here. I had to check them out to see what the fuss is all about. First off, "Whole foods" is a misnomer. Most of what they sell is processed food. Place focuses on organic, free range, antibiotics free, ethical, (insert feel-good buzzwords). I was expecting a whole vegan isle but all I found is a dairy free section and another vegetarian section. Pretty much what you find at most grocery stores. I do have to say the staff are very friendly and helpful. The store is clean. Prices are OK as long as you steer away from overpriced hipster brands and stick to what's on sale. read more

Great clean store with lots of healthy food options. Rather than sell the typical chips and pop, they have fresher options of items that are even made in store. The fresh food bar is great. Lots of options but a little pricey. Half a box usually runs me about $12-14 so careful how fast you fill up. read more

A nice additional of the neighbourhood if you want to have organic, holistic and healthy options. I am really interested in their coffee beans area, great to able to buy beans in bulk. Great selections of everything, though a little more pricey than other options.. but it is always good to have more stores for people living at Uptown Markham to shop and meetup here. Grand opening was predictably busy even during early afternoon. Staffs are so friendly and helpful. Kept handing me free samples to try... I have been to this Whole Foods plently of times I never had a bad experience here this location is very big with a huge patio its clean inside and outdoor, I personally think the prices here are reasonable. All the staff members are very friendly and chirpy I honestly feel stress free while I am here grabbing a bite to eat, the food is incredibly delicious and always fresh they also have many vegan options- it's always good to eat healthy. Been to Wholefood many times. During Covid, I had gone to buy cake for occasions. Seem like many places have raised their prices on their items. So I decided to try Wholefood this time to look at their bakery section, and they had different variety of cake in different sizes. I really just wanted to buy a smaller cake for 4 people , and they had some just the right size. I got the Hazelton nut cake .. it was petite looking but elegant and was only $16.99 which I thought was very reasonable. They also included the white chocolate plate for Happy Birthday writing . I was thrilled when Whole Foods opened in Markham a few years back. It meant that I didn't have to drive down to Yorkville to figure out where to park to get tiramisu or whatever else I felt like. This location is a ten-minute drive from where I live. There is plenty of parking. I have never had any problems finding a spot, even when it can get crazy before Christmas. I tend to get soy and almond nog from Whole Foods just before Christmas and New Year's Day. I tend to be borderline lactose-intolerant. Some dairy products are okay. Regular eggnog for me is not! This past Christmas, I bought three bottles of almond nog. I am nearly done my last one. I love it so much! Anyway, I love how this store accommodates your dietary lifestyle. It has many lactose-free products for me, from ice cream to cottage cheese. There are tons of items that open my eyes up and get me excited. A while back, the store had a number of tasting stands. I tried the kale chips that tasted like sour cream. They were so good and did not have any dairy. I immediately bought a bag. The store has hot foods. You can sit down and eat there. It also has prepared sandwiches and salads, which have saved me when I end up being too tired to figure out what to bring to the office for lunch the following day. The only downside is that I tend to buy a few items and end up paying $60 or so. You do pay more for healthier, unique options. I lovee this place. I always feel like a smug rich environmental person when I walk the aisles pushing a cart. They have an area where you can buy prepared food. Hot and cold. There's two area that you can sit and eat. Inside where's there's a TV playing cp24 or outside on the patio where you can eat al fresco! They have a large number of Cooked food options. Kinda expensive (OK, not kinda) but great quality and delicious. They have buffet islands where you can build a meal. You have your choice of hot and cold. I love assembling what I call while food nachos. They have store made nacho chips that I top with grated cheese, spicy chunks pulled pork or beef ( depending on what's on offer that day), with store made guacamole. Yum!!! My friend normally assembles a quite delicious vegetable laden salad. There's also a counter where you can buy prepared salads. My favourite is the beet and citrus. There's also a counter that you can buy pre made or custom sandwiches. There's pizza, whole chicken, chicken pieces, etc... There's a whole wall of cold drinks, pre packaged lunches, and they are licenced so you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer. They also have a number of food events. I don't really come here often. Cause they are quite pricey. But once in a while is ok for some treats. A few items that catch my attention was the self serve French Macarons( in a refrigerator unit) near the coffee bar. And also the self serve mochis (also in a refrigeration unit) I only bought 6 mochis some were vegan and some were regular ones. Flavours I bought: $12.99 for 6 Blood Orange (Real Dairy) Mango (Real Dairy) Green Tea (Real Dairy) Red Velvet (Real Dairy) Strawberry (Vegan) Chocolate (Vegan) Blood Orange was the strongest flavour and it was good. Red Velvet, Strawberry & Chocolate were good too. Mango and Green Tea couldn't really taste the flavour. Overall the mochis were pretty good, but the skin wasn't as sticky as others that I've tried. If this place weren't so expensive, I think I would have to pay a weekly visit here. I could say that probably 95% of the items they carry at whole foods can't be found anywhere else. It's a very different experience shopping here. Firstly, the produce. Obviously, whole foods has high quality produce that is organic for the most part. With organic comes a heavy price tag, but there's always sales on fruits that then make them a reasonable price. You just have to keep an eye out for them. The abundance of drinks they carry is insane, from grass fed milk to goat milk, to all three flavours of naturals soy milk in the large container AND in small juice boxes, to kombucha, to freshly squeezed lemonade, vitamin shots, flavoured coconut water, it is honestly crazy. The crazier thing is that basically every drink is healthy & there's so much to choose from you're bound to find something you like. The same goes for snacks, if you're trying to change your lifestyle, save some money, & shop at whole foods. Healthy food made delicious. Now whole foods also has a baked goods section, as well as a salad & soup bar. Now this is the area I normally buy the most just because I can't say no!!! With the salad bar they have so many fresh ingredients & different salad bases to try. Aside from the vegetables & different proteins, you can add in traditional dinner dishes if you're looking to stray away from solely healthy stuff. They have stuff such as mashed potatoes & even macaroni and cheese. To help digestion they have a selection of 6 different soups you can purchase on the side, wow. They charge you by the weight of the salad so you can easily avoid paying too much. Now the baked goods are bomb. You could try anything and be safe. Now they are a little pricey but given that you don't buy something everyday, it's worth it. Today I tried the blueberry danish & it was delicious. If you are on a tight budget, this is not the place to do your grocery shopping. They have a good selection of veggie dogs, cheeses and prepared foods. I also enjoy trying the various free samples. Today's samples included balsamic vinegar with bread, oranges and assorted cheeses with crackers. There's nothing worse than buying expensive cheese to discover it's not to my liking. So the samples save me the expense and disappointment. I'm also a fan of flavoured aioli by Private Stock which is not available at the average grocery store. They come in several flavours and make fish worth eating. The cashiers are friendly and getting a small discount for bringing a reusable bag is a nice touch when checking out. read more

Whole foods has a lot of great vegan options which is such a relief. It's close to work which makes shopping convenient when I'm on my lunch break. They have a great salad bar and which lots of options and a hot table which mixes veggies and whatnot. It does get a little pricey but you are buying quality. Also I asked if they could put the pepperoni on top of the cheese instead of under it, and when my boyfriend took off some of the pepperoni there wasn't even any cheese under it. We usually order from them and they do a great job , but this one just wasn't very good at all. It's a bit pricey here, so let's just admit that and get it out of the way. Whole foods carries organic produce and goods and often carries local brands you can't find at regular supermarkets. It's always such a nice treat to go and grab a salad from their salad bar or a delicious soup from their soup bar. Their cheese selection is huge and they have such a great variety! The staff are always happy to open one up to let you try and they recommend different flavors depending on what you seem to like. They are very knowledgeable :) and not pushy, which I especially appreciate. They also carry interesting snacks and person items like make up or soap that uses local, fresh, or organic ingredients. Great place for health nuts or people who just want to follow that trend. But the thing that makes this place amazing is the staff. When i first heard Whole Foods was coming to Unionville, I almost did a little dance (ok, maybe i did, lol) ! I first became a fan of their stores when i used to shop at their Hazelton Lanes location, back when there were only 2 locations. I probably hadn't been to one of their stores in almost 5 years when i stopped in at Unionville during their Grand Opening weekend. I love everything about this store, there are so many sections that have so many healthy options i can't find at my regular markets. Here are a few of the departments that i love! Produce - fresh organic fruits & vegetables piled high in such an appealing way that even if i saw something i wouldn't eat, seeing it there made me me want it. They also have fresh fruit cubed in plastic containers in the chilled section in different portion sizes. They also have some of THE best in store made Guacamole & salsa! The salsa comes in tomato, mango & pineapple salsa - add their store made tortillas and you're in heaven! Meat Department - this is the only place we buy our Summer bbq meats. A few fav's of ours: rib eye, skirt steak and so many cuts of dry aged beef, that I dare you to walk out with just 1! Prepared food aisles - WOW, i mean really, the selection of healthy options is unreal at this store! Salad bar is incredible, soups, whole cooked chickens (try the Lemon herb) and the pizza made in store. I can't walk to the cashier & pay for my weekly groceries without buying something in a container or 2. Bakery - i have nothing bad to say about this department. They have a huge selection of cheesecakes, tarts, creme brûlée, macarons, chocolate croissants, BRIOCHE (to die for!). Grocery - so many healthy options of organic foods & snacks that are Non GMO & gluten free too. A great place to find those hard to find items that you need for some recipes that the local markets don't carry. Vitamins, make up, bath products, children's books & toys, organic baby food, patio & tables so you can enjoy your food if you can't wait to get home. If there is something that you are looking for that they don't carry...talk to customer service and they can look into carrying the item. Just like Jennifer K., the wait is over! I've been waiting for the grand opening ever since this plaza started to build its foundation and placed a marketing sign confirming its new location for Whole Foods. So, I visited in the evening and it was quite busy (it should since it's a grand opening). If you have not been to this plaza, it's similar to "Shops at Don Mills" but slightly smaller. The Whole Foods unit is similar in size to Michael-Angelos (similar set up with sections like Cheese, produce, bakery, etc.). I heard the items at Whole Foods items would be pricy and it was true. Some items were reasonable but you would have to be a savvy shopper. For those who aren't, wouldn't even notice the difference because they probably can afford or would pay for it (Organic food shoppers do pay more for their food). My girlfriend and I did some shopping and found items that would be of use for future visits. Stuff like dried Mexican chilies, good selection of olive oil, free run eggs from local farms, good cheese selection, bakery and great salad bar. I still like my local butcher P&F Meats, but good fresh meat selection. Although grapes from the US and apples from Chile don't scream fresh locally grown goodness. We spent about $28.00 for free-run eggs, organic yogurt, three cookies, less than half a pound of coffee beans and lemonade. Does that sound pricy? It sure is. Whole bean coffee was set up so you can bag and grind your own, but coffee beans left out in open air like that tend to lose flavor like it's an Olympic sport. I will taste test tomorrow morning in a nice french press, but I have my doubts. Other than that the cookies were cookies, the lemonade was lemony. I don't usually buy organic I don't believe that it does anything for the taste of food. And all I genuinely care for is taste. read more

But better and healthy organic food !! and convenient for me ~~ Theres alot of things you can get organic, for example almond butter. Some things are ridiculously overpriced that you can get else where for cheaper for the same item. But what's good is you can really tell that some things are more fresh. Like this one time I bought cilantro, it lasted me over 2weeks. Normally I get cilantro from other super markets they go bad within a week.. I feel so lucky to have a Whole Foods in my neighbourhood. Even though I would not do all my shopping there (because I'm not a millionaire), it's nice to have it conveniently located so that when I'm in the mood to grocery shop for organic veggies in style, boom! it's right there. When I do pop in, I always enjoy browsing which is not usually the case when you're grocery shopping. But Whole Foods is so much more than groceries. Even if I just want to pick up some Uncle George's Little Living Salad, I can't resist wandering through the Whole Body section featuring natural personal care products. I'm hooked on the lemon bar soap. They carry so many great products that I just don't see anywhere else. They have a great deli section. You can pick up a hot meal here although you do pay a bit more, it's always good. The staff is very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable if you have any questions about their products. I am obsessed with their salad bar. Dozens of fresh healthy salads at your fingertips. I usually can't decide on just one and end up with a crazy combo that tastes amazing. The best thing is knowing the ingredients they use are healthy. I haven't had a chance to try their catering but the menu is extensive. Some day I'll splurge on my friends and cater a meal from here. No matter what I get from Whole Foods, I always come away with a smile feeling like I'm treating myself and my family to something special. read more

I use to buy whole foods pizza every week from Unionville location. However I had stopped because slowly it was getting bad. Over 1.5 yrs has passed and they have this 2 pizza for $24 deal with 2 toppings. I decided to give it a try and I must say it is one of the worst pizzas I have ever had. I usually don't write reviews but I had to write about this to warn people. The dough wasn't cooked properly at all, it was still raw and gooey in most places. They also put very little topping and very unevenly, one slice didn't even have 1 of the 2 toppings. The crust side of the dough was thick and had burnt bubbles. I just hope I won't get sick from eating a few slices. I have given them a few chances but I didn't expect it could get this bad. It is very disappointing because you don't expect this type of poor quality pizza from Whole Foods. The US chains in California have much better pizzas. I would recommend for you to stay away. I love that there is a Whole Foods in Markham. Having visited many times since it opened, I have to say that I appreciate having a place where I can sample and buy specialty cheeses, organic body care items, supplements, and a whole lot of other snacks and stuff I didn't realize I needed until I perused through the aisles. There are lots of samples of food scattered throughout the store. When looking for a quick dinner, we either go to the stations with hot food and salad bar items or we go to the ready prepared foods counter. One of our go to "combos" for a quick light meal for 2 is to order the sweet kale salad and the panko breaded tilapia (which we have the staff heat up for us when dining in store). They also have yummy cakes and pastries in their bakery section, as well as vegan or dairy free cakes and ice creams in the frozen section. When looking for desserts for my severely lactose intolerant sibling, I look here. Shopping here does take a toll on the wallet but likely worth it in the overall scheme of investing in and shopping for a healthier you. (96/100) read more
