Our pets have been patients of Exeter Vet since 1998. First was Pearl (a cat), then was Tigger (a…read morecat), Sadie (a puggle) and now Taco, a chihuahua. All was fine over the years. But...this past week...something happened which has caused me to leave Exeter Vet. We adopted Taco (5 years old) in August 2024. We saw Dr Hill on our first visit and she was very kind. Taco is very healthy so we haven't brought her in for anything but nail clipping. We've brought her in at least three times for that without incident. The last two times, I have held her in a pack type carrier, where her legs stick out of holes. I hold a half cone under her chin and all is well. On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Taco had an appointment for a nail trim. My husband brought her. He was informed they were busy and there were no rooms available, so they'd take her into the back. He asked if he could accompany her and was told no. Once they took her, she started screaming. She continued to scream for quite a few minutes. They brought her back out to him, told him she was turning purple, so they couldn't do anymore. (They did the two front paws, not the back, but charged us full price) I went in on Wednesday or Thursday to make an appointment for them to do the two back paws. One of the techs walked by, looked straight at me, and said 'Your dog is VICIOUS!'! In that tone. I was taken aback by the statement and her tone. I said, 'She's a chihuahua!'. And the lady at the desk reiterated that Taco was BLUE when she was brought out to my husband. I stopped by in person a few days later and ended up meeting with a female vet (shoulder length gray hair). I explained my concerns about how Taco was treated and all she said was 'I don't want my techs bitten'. Duh! I don't want anyone bitten either! But never once did she say 'Gosh, poor Taco.' Or admit that maybe the techs went too far in restraining her so long when she was obviously in distress. She did suggest we go somewhere else to get her nails trimmed?!!! We ARE going somewhere else. For everything. While we were in the lobby, waiting for the vet, the tech who called her vicious walked by and Taco growled at her. (I loved it.) Taco has had bloody stools since last Thursday. She has become weak and lethargic. She woke me up at 3:15 AM this morning and when I carried her off the bed, she went into the bathroom and had 100% bloody diarrhea. It happened again when she went outside around 7AM. We brought her to Brentwood Animal Hospital at 8. They did all kinds of bloodwork and xrays and, based on my explanation of what she endured at Exeter Vet, determined she was suffering from Stress Colitis. She has had blood dripping from her anus since 3AM. We are going to treat her with probiotics. The bloodwork and xrays showed she is 100% healthy in every other way. And they trimmed her remaining nails at no charge. Taco endured serious maltreatment at Exeter Vet. She's a chihuahua. She's anxious. The techs apparently had no knowledge or compassion for this. They continued to restrain her and clip her nails when she was SCREAMING and turning colors!!! If I had been there, I would have insisted they stop immediately. My husband is very soft spoken and has serious anxiety/depression. Taco is his unofficial psychiatric service dog. He has been beside himself this week worrying about her. And the vet I spoke to!! No compassion or concern WHATSOEVER about the way Taco was treated. It turned into a $1,250 nail trim due to the lack of concern or empathy of the Exeter Vet staff towards a 7 pound dog. Yes, we had bloodwork and xrays. They were necessary to reassure my husband that nothing else was wrong. That Taco didn't have a fatal issue. She is PERFECT other than the colitis. I'm sure whoever responds to this message from Exeter Vet will say should have been medicated. WRONG!!! As her records show, her nails were trimmed without incident twice prior. And I will not medicate her when it's not needed. The issue is, employees of Exeter Vet are NOT compassionate in the least. Do NOT bring your pet here if you want them to experience compassion. After 24 hours of receiving meds to resolve the issues in her gut caused by the colitis, Taco is doing fairly well this morning. We look forward to her complete recovery, when she will be her SWEET, loving, fun, silly, active self.

Thank you Dr Julie MacClinchy,…read more What a difference your good judgement and care made for Poco, we are so grateful. Last week he wouldn't eat, come out from under the bed nor stop yelping, shivering & shaking from pain. I hadn't thought it possible he'd be 1/2 this good, today he brought his toy to me and played tug a war then romped and rolled in the snow!!!! Many, many thank yous to you and your whole team so much compassion in one office. Best, Kaye

We knew that by bringing him into our regular vets office his last moments would have been filled with anxiety and discomfort. Not only was Sarah the most compassionate vet we have ever met, but she walked us through the entire process and treated both my husband and I, as well as our dog (and other two dogs) with dignity and respect. The pricing was fair for his size and service performed. They were efficient and delicate. I cannot recommend them enough! For a mobile service they are absolutely phenomenal. The ashes took just slightly over a week to get back and we are very very happy to have our dog home. Thank you team.

The young woman that returned my call was so cold hearted, when I started to get teary trying to explain his conditions, she gave no sympathy. She just continued with her scripted speech on services they provide. Like it was a laundry list. I know it is hard to find good help, but if you do not like working with animal/animal parents, then go work somewhere else. She basically said they come to your home and give 2 injections (one sedation and one euthanasia) and then leave. Whole procedure take 45 min to 1 hr. When I asked do they help with cremation, she said "if that is what you want, it will cost more".....well of course I would expect that, but at least discuss options. Cold, heartless, lack of compassion. Would not recommend.

So, we returned to Cornerstone and were very happy with the services for our aging yellow lab. We left feeling truly happy with Cornerstone, once again. Thank you Dr. Greene.

After using them as a family vet for years, I called for a wellness check for my cat before…read moretraveling and was told they couldn't see me, and that I would have to reestablish myself as a patient because for some reason they sent the paperwork for my cats to another vet and I guess that meant I had moved to another vet (I had done no such thing, and they did not listen to me about this). In addition, I have been there with family members to go thru the hard process of putting a sick animal down and the staff there is pretty cold, rude and just not the sort of atmosphere you want to have to do that in. Honestly, I found it rather traumatizing, but I continued to go because I had no other choice. I highly do not recommend this veterarian. Over the years they have had different people, and not many of them have been nice, let alone personable. If you love your pets, take them anywhere else.

I have nothing but the highest regard for Dr. Jody Kaufman and her wonderful staff. But there is one particular story that I would really like to call out that happened close to 20 years ago. We had a cat that had kidney problems and had spent a good amount of money on him which was not an issue that baby was worth every penny like they all are. However we also fell in love with another fluff ball from the SPCA. Long story short we brought Oreo in for his free check-up and to Jody the day after we adopted him. He was acting extremely out of the ordinary that entire night before didn't eat didn't use the litter box extra we didn't know if it was just because everything was overwhelming. It ended up at the visit that he had a blockage and required immediate surgery. Jody called the spca and they told her we could bring him back and we were crying. Jody hung up and looked at us and said don't worry I will do the surgery don't you worry about anything. It ended up the poor cat needed two surgeries which her and Dr Bassett from Exeter both did and they took care of everything without blinking an eye. True humanitarians and special people that truly love animals.

I can say now that I definitely wish I did not come to this place! I had an appointment somewhere else closeby, but saw their ad for a free first time visit for new clients! I thought that was perfect, since my dog was not having any problems and I was just looking to establish with a new vet in the area. It started out with all the texting before the visit, and the last one told me to be there at 1:45 since I was new (for a 2:00pm appointment). I arrived at 1:46 and the woman (who never greeted me or my dog) say I was 30 minutes early. I told her about the text, but she told me not to worry that they could take me anyway (still implying I was incorrect about the time). She weighed my dog, still never greeting her or asking her name. She put us in a room and left and the vet tech came in shortly. She asked me how my dog was doing and I said something like "she's fine, lost a little weight on her new food (which she needed), and that she was shaking a bit more than she used to and slowing down a bit, but nothing was wrong with her lol (because she is 14!!) Within 2 minutes, the TECH told me I was feeding my dog the wrong food. Then she told me how much the visit would cost, again, never greeting my dog! I told her I was doing the free visit for new clients. She said she didn't know anything about that, so she went to ask the vet. I felt for a minute like I was buying a car lol. She came back and said that my visit was a medical visit and not a new client visit, and therefore would be like $100. She explained that "because of her shaking and walking" there is a concern and it wasn't a regular well check visit. I told her that seemed misleading, and she said "that offer has limitations". And the vet never bothered to even step in and speak to us!!! All just through the TECH. I have to say, my dog is literally the most important thing to me, and I wouldn't mind paying any amount to take care of her. It is Not the cost, but the way they handled me, a new client in town, a dog lover, and a responsible pet owner. No greeting, no explanation from the vet, just treated me like me and my dog were of 0 importance. And there is the misleading ad - I would say just lie - about the free "new client" visit. The worst part was their treatment of me and my pup. They must not have any heart because my pup is the cutest, sweetest girl. What a waste of time, now we will go back to the other place - which costs more, but will be worth it to have nce people to work with me and my dog.Think twice before heading to this place!
