She basically said they come to your home and give 2 injections (one sedation and one euthanasia) and then leave. Whole procedure take 45 min to 1 hr. When I asked do they help with cremation, she said "if that is what you want, it will cost more".....well of course I would expect that, but at least discuss options. Cold, heartless, lack of compassion. Would not recommend.

However we also fell in love with another fluff ball from the SPCA. Long story short we brought Oreo in for his free check-up and to Jody the day after we adopted him. He was acting extremely out of the ordinary that entire night before didn't eat didn't use the litter box extra we didn't know if it was just because everything was overwhelming. It ended up at the visit that he had a blockage and required immediate surgery. Jody called the spca and they told her we could bring him back and we were crying. Jody hung up and looked at us and said don't worry I will do the surgery don't you worry about anything. It ended up the poor cat needed two surgeries which her and Dr Bassett from Exeter both did and they took care of everything without blinking an eye. True humanitarians and special people that truly love animals.

FAH has been our vet clinic since we moved to the area 11 years ago. More than once in emergency…read moresituations we've been glad they're less than 10 minutes from our house, because until a few years ago, the closest emergency clinic was more than half an hour away. Dr. Audrey Karamourtopoulos (she goes by Dr. Audrey for obvious reasons) is the clinic owner and our primary vet. For the longest time she was the only vet there, but over the years other vets have been brought on staff. Dr. Audrey has been a wonderful caretaker for our dogs, and even the occasional foster. She will sit on the floor with a dog and let them give her a facial while she tries to conduct an exam. She is one of the most compassionate people I've ever met. Some people like a vet who is all business, others like the heart-on-sleeve kind. Dr. Audrey is a little bit of both, but leans more towards the latter. Easy to tears, this lady, even more than me. I'm okay with that, I don't feel silly getting sniffly in front of her, or on the phone. She usually beats me to it. She's a skilled surgeon too. She saved the life of our first Rottweiler, who was bloating, which is a life threatening condition. Carl would have died enroute to an ER clinic, but fortunately FAH was open. He recovered really well. We had to go out of town a couple weeks later and did medical board at the clinic just to be sure he had around the clock attention. Because the clinic is attached to Dr. Audrey's home, she is available at all hours. She sat up with our neighbor's dog at 2am while he died in her arms from hemangiosarcoma. FAH has techs on staff 24/7. Unlike some other clinics where animals might be left alone overnight. FAH also does rescues, mostly cats, but occasionally dogs that might be strays and owners not located, or the animals have been surrendered to the clinic. Dr. Audrey is the vet for a local Doberman Pinscher rescue. Like a lot of vets, she's not an advocate for raw feeding. She will try and point out some of what she feels are negatives, but won't try to stop you outright. It's your dog, not hers. We've agreed to disagree, though she has admitted that my dogs are pretty darned healthy overall (even our cancer boy is still on part raw/part kibble and doing great) and have gorgeous coats. Argo came to us with teeth so covered in plaque you could barely see the cusps. No dental done, just some manual scraping to remove the large chunks by a hygienst and a raw diet have really cleaned his teeth up. Dr. Audrey doesn't try to overvaccinate your pets either. She was actually the first person to tell me about titers (blood test to determine antibody levels) when we first met and had a senior dog. Other than rabies, we didn't need to be pumping the poor creature full of the damned things. She often runs late, because she doesn't rush through appointments. Not every situation can be handled in 15 minutes. I may wait an hour to see her, and I'm okay with that. Just take my dog outside for a walk; girls at the front desk will call me in when it's time. Dr. Audrey will spend as much time as you need her to, especially if there are a lot of questions coming up. Lately we've had some communication issues, having to wait longer than I thought was appropriate for a return call on something, but that seems to have been a short lived issue. Hasn't happened again. Drs. Baker and Stephanie are the other current DVMs on staff. Haven't worked much with Dr. Stephanie, but she is more of a small/exotic animal and bird vet. Dr. Baker is a nice gentleman, little more of the reserved, old school type vet. Dr. Audrey was out of town at the time Argo presented with a recurring limp; Dr. Baker caught his bone cancer early. We will be forever grateful for that, as it's given us more time to try different treatments and kept him with us longer than most people get in this situation. He also did a nice job pulling over 200 baby porcupine quills (they're small, soft and hard to find!) from Hannahbelle's feet and mouth recently. Don't ask... She's lucky she's cute!

Our pets have been patients of Exeter Vet since 1998. First was Pearl (a cat), then was Tigger (a…read morecat), Sadie (a puggle) and now Taco, a chihuahua. All was fine over the years. But...this past week...something happened which has caused me to leave Exeter Vet. We adopted Taco (5 years old) in August 2024. We saw Dr Hill on our first visit and she was very kind. Taco is very healthy so we haven't brought her in for anything but nail clipping. We've brought her in at least three times for that without incident. The last two times, I have held her in a pack type carrier, where her legs stick out of holes. I hold a half cone under her chin and all is well. On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Taco had an appointment for a nail trim. My husband brought her. He was informed they were busy and there were no rooms available, so they'd take her into the back. He asked if he could accompany her and was told no. Once they took her, she started screaming. She continued to scream for quite a few minutes. They brought her back out to him, told him she was turning purple, so they couldn't do anymore. (They did the two front paws, not the back, but charged us full price) I went in on Wednesday or Thursday to make an appointment for them to do the two back paws. One of the techs walked by, looked straight at me, and said 'Your dog is VICIOUS!'! In that tone. I was taken aback by the statement and her tone. I said, 'She's a chihuahua!'. And the lady at the desk reiterated that Taco was BLUE when she was brought out to my husband. I stopped by in person a few days later and ended up meeting with a female vet (shoulder length gray hair). I explained my concerns about how Taco was treated and all she said was 'I don't want my techs bitten'. Duh! I don't want anyone bitten either! But never once did she say 'Gosh, poor Taco.' Or admit that maybe the techs went too far in restraining her so long when she was obviously in distress. She did suggest we go somewhere else to get her nails trimmed?!!! We ARE going somewhere else. For everything. While we were in the lobby, waiting for the vet, the tech who called her vicious walked by and Taco growled at her. (I loved it.) Taco has had bloody stools since last Thursday. She has become weak and lethargic. She woke me up at 3:15 AM this morning and when I carried her off the bed, she went into the bathroom and had 100% bloody diarrhea. It happened again when she went outside around 7AM. We brought her to Brentwood Animal Hospital at 8. They did all kinds of bloodwork and xrays and, based on my explanation of what she endured at Exeter Vet, determined she was suffering from Stress Colitis. She has had blood dripping from her anus since 3AM. We are going to treat her with probiotics. The bloodwork and xrays showed she is 100% healthy in every other way. And they trimmed her remaining nails at no charge. Taco endured serious maltreatment at Exeter Vet. She's a chihuahua. She's anxious. The techs apparently had no knowledge or compassion for this. They continued to restrain her and clip her nails when she was SCREAMING and turning colors!!! If I had been there, I would have insisted they stop immediately. My husband is very soft spoken and has serious anxiety/depression. Taco is his unofficial psychiatric service dog. He has been beside himself this week worrying about her. And the vet I spoke to!! No compassion or concern WHATSOEVER about the way Taco was treated. It turned into a $1,250 nail trim due to the lack of concern or empathy of the Exeter Vet staff towards a 7 pound dog. Yes, we had bloodwork and xrays. They were necessary to reassure my husband that nothing else was wrong. That Taco didn't have a fatal issue. She is PERFECT other than the colitis. I'm sure whoever responds to this message from Exeter Vet will say should have been medicated. WRONG!!! As her records show, her nails were trimmed without incident twice prior. And I will not medicate her when it's not needed. The issue is, employees of Exeter Vet are NOT compassionate in the least. Do NOT bring your pet here if you want them to experience compassion. After 24 hours of receiving meds to resolve the issues in her gut caused by the colitis, Taco is doing fairly well this morning. We look forward to her complete recovery, when she will be her SWEET, loving, fun, silly, active self.

I would not recommend and would never take another animal here again, especially to see Dr…read more Fraysee. Our 9.3 year old pit mix, Otis, seemed lethargic for about a month. On the morning of Friday, March 6, 2026, when he didn't want to eat his breakfast, I called his vet office, Hampstead Animal Hospital, and got a 2:15 pm appointment and it was with Dr. Frayesse. They did blood work and an Xray at about a cost of $1,380. Dr. Fraysee came back in after the Xray with a woman (either a Vet or a Vet Tech and I don't remember her name) with a woozy Otis and literally "dropped a bomb" and said these words to me: "The bloodwork shows that he is a little anemic. The Xray shows that he has a large mass (showed me with his hands in a circle about the size of a large orange) in his spleen. His spleen needs to be removed before it ruptures. Once the spleen is removed, it can be biopsied to see if it's benign." He may have said something else but I was in shock and then he walked out of the room. The woman suggested I schedule an ultrasound for Otis on Monday, March 9th at 8:15 am for better imaging and reiterated that it could rupture and that surgery should be scheduled soon. I asked her about the benign comment and asked about a needle biopsy. She said due to fragile nature of these masses, it could rupture so it's recommended the spleen be removed and biopsied. I asked her how much the surgery would be and she said about $10,000. I think my mouth may have fallen open in surprise, that much? She left to go check their surgeon's schedule. Not once did they mention CANCER but that is what I gathered. I had never even heard of spleen masses or tumors before and I was in shock and crying in their office. When she came back, she said their surgeon was booked all next week and handed me 2 brochures, Port City and Bulger Hospital, and a magnet with contact information for Rockingham County Emergency Vet in Windham. Seriously???? I was only able to leave with Otis after handing her my credit card which she brought out front to run while I stayed with Otis. I called 2 of the hospitals and did a ton of research before his ultrasound on Monday. Dr. Storey called with his results. He explained that Otis had many more masses within his spleen but that he didn't see any sign of spread to other organs. But that didn't necessarily mean microscopic cells that they can't see are not there or that in surgery, a mass could be on another organ that they can't see on the ultrasound. He said that the Xray on Friday showed fluid in his abdomen, which meant he was already having bleeding episodes that then clotted and stopped. (Dr. Frayesse did not mention this on Friday). He said that they use a calculator to estimate the risk of malignancy based on several factors. Found at the end of this review. He said due to internal bleeding episodes, the size of masses and multiple masses, he said Otis is at an 80% chance of it not being benign. Again, no one says CANCER. He did recommend yunnan baiyao, a Chinese herb that can help with blood clotting. I told him we were going to schedule an at home euthanasia and he said he understood and that Otis was ready to be picked up. I didn't feel an herb would help him much as his spleen could rupture at any time. When I went to pick him up, the same women that was in the room with the original "bomb being dropped on me" brought Otis in with me and asked if I'd made a decision? I replied, "Yes, you have given us no choice. I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that you are recommending a $10,000 surgery to remove his spleen with an 80% chance of it being cancer and that even with his spleen removed, if it's HSA cancer, he'd be lucky to make it 1-3 months. And you need to do the surgery for a definitive diagnosis and so it won't rupture. I'm mad and we don't want to put him through this! I think I said something sarcastic about only the wealthy can afford pets these days." She just nodded and then said I could go out front a pay for the ultrasound, another $648 dollars, and she would bring Otis out once that was done. Between the lack of empathy, lack of communication, lack of details regarding the surgery itself and possible outcomes, his risk for surgery, lack of help when I just got a bombshell diagnosis dropped on me...I'm at a loss for words. I just feel like this place prioritizes profit over services and pushes for emergency surgery at an exorbitant cost. Dr. Fraysee's bedside manners are horrible, and I feel that we were just encouraged to go through with a high risk, high-cost surgery with an 80% chance of it being a horrible cancer where his quality of life would have deteriorated rapidly. My heart is still broken. I'm still devastated over a month later and keep doing the "what if's" and should we have done the surgery? The guilt is horrible and I miss him so much. I still cry every day. He was way too young in my opinion. I thought we had a lot more time left with him.
