Ive had this electrical contractor solve several problems over the years. I was present for the work, and can verify that he was very knowledgeable in this field. It was immediately evident that he knew exactly what the cause of my issues were, as well as how to properly solve said issues. His rates were fair, imo. I honestly expected it to be much more expensive! He arrived with another worker that was assisting him. They came prepared with all of the necessary materials already in his work van. ​I believe the owners name is David. The only reason that i chose to rate with 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fact that I felt he sometimes came off a little bit rude, almost arrogant. However, that personality flaw didn't affect the quality of work he accomplished and the jobs that were completed for me were absolutely 5 star worthy jobs. People skills can definitely be improved and are needed when running a business if you want to be professional. Him and his worker were right on time, thoroughly completed every project I've hired him to finish, and did so in an extremely timely manner. I could tell that he was a family man that valued certain morals and qualities and i was impressed when he offered to come and handle the one emergency type call for me on a Saturday, which wasn't even during his normal business hours. That was probably what sealed the deal for me to later hire him multiple other times. Ive never been disappointed with the outcome of his work, only ocassionally annoyed by the smug attitude that admittedly left pretty much as quickly as it came and he returned to being the expert electrician that gave me such reassurance to put such important jobs in the hands of Ludlams Electric, knowing that ultimately my family would be safe of any type of dangerous electrical accident due to his thorough understanding of the trade, his competency, and his communication with me on what it was that he was doing, why he was doing it, and what I could expect. Not once have i regretted using Ludlams Electric and i have personally recommended him to a few friends and family members and they all had very positive experiences similar to mine. So long as he is still available in my area, i will never use another company! And his prices never exceeded the estimate that i received upon hiring him. 10/10 would recommend this service. David and his assistant Patrick were able to resolve some strange electrical work done by previous electricians. In addition, they changed a light fixture, installed cameras, adjusted switched outlets to be always on and ran new outdoor wiring for my home through a brick facade. They were tidy and minimally disruptive while working. Communication was good and the service was priced better than I expected. Be warned. David Ludlam was hired in 2017 to complete a new construction house electrical job. He completed half the job and disappeared after collection of the 3rd payment out of 4. He did not return calls, texts, etc. After a month I hired a new electrician to finish the job and filed a complaint with the NJ electrical board. They have been notifying me every 6 months that they are still trying to contact him since 2017. I would be surprised if he keeps his license considering the other complaints I have been made aware of. In addition he didn't wire a bedroom to the panel. As a result we needed to remove drywall to redo it costing an additional $1,500. Ultimately I lost $5,000 using David Ludlam. read more

I will just relay what happened with this guy and leave out all opinions. We made an appt with him and after an hour of waiting past the time he was supposed to arrive I called him...apparently he forgot about us and wound up getting to us 2 hours after the appt time. He comes in, diagnoses the problem and gives me a quote for the work. He charged me $180 for the diagnoses. We made an appt for the following week for him to come do the work. 2 days after he left we noticed that our storage refrigerator in our basement was off...a circuit he forgot to turn back on before he left. We lost about $100 of food and weeks worth of breast milk my wife had stored up (she's currently breast feeding our infant). I figured I would mention it once he returned. The appt day arrives a week later and he never shows up. In addition he doesn't answer his phone, via text or phone call. It has now been over a week since the planned appt and still never heard back from him despite repeated attempts to get a hold of him. There are a variety of ways he could have handled it and I would have been OK, including: - let us know you don't want to do the work - return my call or text and let me know what happened - etc Pretty shocking someone who is trying to run a business would behave like this and I will be reporting him to the BBB (side note, he already has some dings with them). read more

I called Ludlam's Electric to do some misc. electrical work at our shore house. David and his helper were very fast, conscientious, courteous and professional. The job was completed in a quicker time frame than I thought was possible too. And he even charged me a bit less than the original estimate. My only regret is that my primary home is too far away for him to do some electrical work at that place too. I can't recommend Ludlam Electric enough. read more

David installed 3 ceiling fixtures for me. He returned my call right away and scheduled an appointment to perform the work. He did a great job in a professional manner. Dave installed the fixtures for the quoted amount although the job was more entailed than expected. He worked neatly and exudes a great work ethic.
